This video just changed my life. I'm not even being dramatic. I always thought my hair was just extra dry, thick, and coarse. Those things are all true. But I never even realized that porosity was a thing! I feel like I've been doing everything wrong and that's why my hair is so dry! Thank you!!!!
when I was getting a relaxer, I kept hearing that I needed protein. Now that I'm natural, I couldn't figure out why my hair would be super curly and juicy washing with a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner but AS SOON as I deep conditioned with a Protein conditioner my hair changed completely! Happened to me again yesterday so now I'm on the hunt for knowledge. lol
Lynmarie Hernandez same here. Especially the miosturizer one. I have to have it sit forever to get it to do something. I don't have a heating cap so I got creative and take my big heating pad and use a hair clip to clip the cloth cover it's in and make it into a bonnet and throw that on my head with my cap and call it day. This video hit all of the point for my hair. My hair does well with creams and stuff like curl activator and that stay so fro hair spray. It loves that stuff😄😘😘😘
Great tips! I'm probably the only person with low porosity hair that actually likes heavy butters 🤔 lol. Lightweight moisturizers do not do anything for my hair.
Queen Bea are you sure you are low porosity ?! Lol jk, I guess there are diff levels of low porosity and you may not be as low porosity as me. May I ask which butters you use? Also, do you use a small amount and do you have to smooth it in to penetrate your hair? Thanks !!
for 27 years ive been wondering depressed and upset about my hair, I find you 4am and you make me smile with a sigh of relief :) this video is so on point so glad I found you, I just got back into my natural hair for a full year now I wear braids and wigs but for the life of me I could never understand my hair. im gonna binge on all your videos. your perfect, thank you
My hair hates coconut oil, but loves olive oil and mango butter. However, I don't use commercial conditioners as they make my scalp flake. I use a sulfate free shampoo and flaxseed gel with oil in it as a leave in conditioner. My scalp has been better than ever and my hair is shinier after a fresh wash. I think I have low porosity yet fine hair.
Justine Horton oh wow!! That sounds amazing. I’ve been meaning to try flaxseed gel, do you have a recipe! Also, for the magi butter, is it whipped or you buy it! I wanted to try that as well bc shea butter is too heavy for my hair
Iyda Michael 1. I make my gel thick. 2 cups water to 1/2 cup flaxseeds. 2. I made the mango butter. It's not whipped, but creamy of sorts. It melts very well with the olive oil added to it. I also use it on my skin.
Thank you! Have the heavy products been working out for you? I have been reading some comments from people with 4B/4C hair that say that they have low porosity hair but like heavy butters! I want to do more research on that because I always thought that regardless of the hair texture, low porosity hair had a hard time absorbing heavy products.
Iyda Michael yeah I'm 4b/4c on most of my hair and my hair loves thick creams and butters. However the back of my head is 3b/3c and it hates butters and creams. My whole head is low porosity
I've been in denial about having low porosity hair ever since I learned what porosity is. I have all of the 10 signs as well and this video really helped me come to terms with the fact that my porosity is low. I did the sink or float water test on my son's and my own hair and the results showed that we both have low porosity. Thank you for this video.
Girl, I am only seeing this video now and boy oh boy, you are preaching the truth! I always used the LOC-method and never really understood why my hair looked the way it did. After my second big chop just over a month ago, I tested my hair porosity and a lot of things made sense. Thank you so much for the informative video. I was literally saying "Oh my gosh, yes yes" the entire time.
Add some water to it and make it the consistency you’d like. That’s what I did because I felt that it was to heavy and it worked great. I also mix 2 teaspoonfuls in to an 8 ounce spray bottle and shake it till its fully mix and use it as a refreshing spray/milk.
I cannot say this strong enough - THANK YOU FOR THIS!! This is incredibly helpful. I have been trying to figure out for a very long time what my porosity is. Your breakdown of the SIGNS of low porosity hair was so much more helpful than the 'tests' to figure it out. I have been natural for 4 years and have struggled with having a definite answer on this. THANK YOU Sooooooo much!!!
This is excellent information for me. I just did yet another BIG CHOP because I have been on chemotherapy since 2012. My hair texture changed and looked as if I had relaxed my hair mid-strand. All that is left now is my naturally curly, low porosity hair (new discovery). So, my journey into intentional care begins. Thank you for being so clear and informative.
Am I like the only white dude with a thick head of curly hair??? I learned alot with this video... What can I use naturally to protect my hair.? want to keep growing, and don't want damaged hair
Anonymous 1 I absolutely recommend shampoos without sulfates and conditioners without silicone. Finish with a tea rinse (nettle and rosemarie work well) after you cleanse, use flaxseed gel right away on damp hair and scrunch it with your fingers.
I’m 33 years old and I realised this week my natural hair is low porosity!!!!! 😭 ...I have purchased your recommended products in your best oils; shampoo; conditioner; leave in videos 💕❤️
I have what would classify as straight, "white hair", but I love natural hair videos. I have noticed that I do in fact have low porosity hair, so these videos help me a lot. Thanks a lot Iyda
My hair is so similar in porosity to yours. Heat is a must if I want to get moisture from a moisturizing deep conditioner. I have to use a light hand on products, or my hair won't dry for DAYS.
Wow, very informative! I thought I was low porosity but I'm the opposite of everything she said about low porosity. My hair gets wet very easily and dries in on only a few seconds. It absorbs anything I put on it. My hair has fine strands, low density and a loose curl so this info will guide me toward taking better care of my hair as well. Really appreciate!
I literally looked at your subscribers and was shocked to find that you had less than 1000. You are definitely providing a lot of knowledge here. You have high quality videos and you are beautiful and well-spoken and your content is concise. Keep it up! the subscribers will join. I subscribe to at least 6 hair vloggers of varying textures and I just added you to the list :)
Wow, literally feel like I’ve found my hair twin. Every single thing you mentioned I’ve experienced. I’ve literally just dealt with it through trial and error and never even knew about porosity 😩
Your video is SO spot on! Once I learned about hair porosity and realized my hair was low porosity and started doing all of the things in this video in my hair regimen it's the healthiest it's ever been and is growing like a crazy! (I have a fade in my pic but now have a fro, lol)
I'm low porosity and super protein sensitive with fine strands. I have type 3c/4a curls and my hair is ok with a little whipped shea butter during winter months as long as I don't add any other products to it. Your videos are so awesome and I am excited for your channel; I've told my family and friends to subscribe! Please keep up the great work!
I've watched countless number of natural hair videos and I never leave a comment but thank you SO MUCH for this video! This was a huge help. I've been natural for 3 years and I just learned why I have a lot of the problems you listed! Now, I'm on my way to search how to deal with low porosity hair LOL.
Thank you for this! I just found out I'm low porosity. I've been doing high porosity treatments and I always wonder why my hair doesn't absorb things like high porosity. This video really helped me understand what I need to do for my hair.
Hi, I love the way you beautifully articulated this knowledge to your viewers! No filler words, no rolling the eyes all around...you captured my attention from start to finish! Thank you for such eye/ear pleasing video!
Its been over 10 years since I wore relaxed hair. I remember that my hair required 2 boxes of relaxer in order to sorta straighten (very resistant). I had scalp injuries, but my hair never got completely straight. Wow! Now, I know why...This is a great video!
New subscriber here! I've been natural for a few years and kept going back and forth about my hair porosity. I enjoyed that you jumped right into the video. It was informational and so helpful, and I now feel like I have a better understanding on porosity. Thank you!
THIS video right here answered my questions! I've been wondering for years why my hair is always resistant. I realize because of my thin, low porosity hair that protein definitely helped. I used to use protein/hair mayo masks and back then my hair was very strong and long. I have no idea why I stopped doing that because since then for a very long time my hair hasn't been the same. Thank you for sharing! I subscribed
My hair gets wet easily, reverts easily, dries fast (only when it's out) but It hates coconut oil and proteins. I have course hair. I've been confused about this topic for the longest.
damn... I thought for this entire time my hair was high porosity, but I can relate so much to all the things you’ve said. It’s time to change my habits !
I guess better late than never... But if I found you 5 years ago when I first went natural I would've saved at least $1,000+ and so much heartache & frustration! 😆 Thank you so much for all you do to educate us low po, coarse people! 🙌🏽🎉 Have a beautiful day! 💖
I did the big chop for the first time in 2013 then a big chop 2 twice a year from 2014 to 2017 because I thought my hair was just damaged even though it grows like a weed. I was wasting so much money buying the wrong things. I get so fed up with my hair. I'm so so glad I found this video. This just saved me from cutting my hair AGAIN. I'm Mos def trying the lco method tonight.
So I have low porosity, high density, 2a-2b hair. The strands themselves are medium thick, not thin, but not coarse, and I have A LOT of hair. If I pull all my hair to one side and twist it tightly the circumference is almost 3.5 inches... Yeah, it's a lot lol. I have had the hardest time finding others with my same hair type. So many people have high porosity hair on all of these haircare channels. I am so happy I found your channel! I actually found a couple other channels too from suggested videos after watching you for a while. I can finally start finding products that will work for my hair!! 💕
FINALLY! I have been struggling for years with the water test sometimes seeming to indicate I have high porosity, the next that I have low. After watching your video I feel almost sure that I do NOT have low porosity hair. So now I have a direction to focus on high porosity research. Thank you SO MUCH!!!
I just big chopped earlier this month and my hair was always dry and crunchy and I thank God I found this video. Now ik why my hair is exactly how yours is so thank you👏💚
Thank you for this video 😭😫🙌🏾 I have 3c/4a hair but I have signs of low and high porosity hair. My hair works best in warm/hot water but HATES cold water but 🙃 once I step out the shower my hair is completely DRY like it air dried in 5 seconds
I love that this video is straight to the point. I have low porosity hair and I'm just now learning to properly work with it. I've never knew to apply heat when deep conditioning or the heavy creams/oils thing. Grew up dealing with women trying to follow that high porosity thing with my hair and it was dreadful. I'll definitely keep this in mind for my next wash.
The back of my hair as well as my roots at the front of my hair are low porosity while the rest of my hair is normal porosity. Shampooing works best for my hair, but I can use a cleansing conditioner every once in a blue moon. I use the LCO method which has been working for me since late May 2013, but my hair can handle butters too.
Thank you! I appreciate everything about this video. Straight to the point, no distractions (plain background, low background music, etc), just straight facts. You broke it down so well. Good job 👍🏾
So helpful, now so many things make sense, my hair never got bone straight doing relaxers, I tried products on soaking wet hair, didn't work. I have fine hair, low porosity, high density. I will follow your channel although my hair is 4C.
Curl pattern really doesn't mean much when it comes to finding the right regimen so you don't to worry! But we both have type 4 hair!! :) To me just means more shrinkage!
Excellent explanation - thank you! When I was doing relaxers, my hair also retained a curl pattern and it gave my hair dressers fits. Now, I know what was ‘wrong’.
Thank You. Once you mentioned the perm, i knew i was low porosity. My hair never came out straight. This was so helpful. i've been trying to figure this out for the longest. Thank you for this video. Im Subscribing!!
@@lilarwen1 I just realized this was from 3 years ago 🤣🤣🤣 ... I think because type 4 hair is so curly it doesn’t straight fully when chemically treated. I remember in middle school people would ask me if my hair was permed even though it wasn’t. And when I did get a perm my hair was bone str8. Not sure what my curl pattern is but I’m guessing the closer to type A the more it will straighten. That’s why I asked 😊
I literally screamed at sign number 5 which is the biggest sign that my hair is low in porosity, because hair doesn't like heavy oils/ butters (sealants) for example coconut oil , JBCO and so on .. and I'm a 4a,4b and 4c.
My hair is such a weird mix but I'm so happy that me and homegirl get along now thanks to all of the beautiful women who have shared their knowledge. ♡♡♡
This explains a lot. My mom (despite my wishes) put a relaxer in my hair twice, and it never got straight after the first or second day, and my hair was still curly and it broke off. Thank you so much for posting this. I am pretty sure I have low porosity hair because most of the information provided explains my hair exactly and I wondered how those other girl on RUclips could use all that product and conditioner and stuff and not have anything showing, while whenever I do, all I see is white product on my hair! I just subscribed. Thank you so much. I know what to do for my hair now, or at least have an idea
I have low porosity hair and my hair just hates the loc method and heavy products, they will just build up horribly on my scalp and strands. This video was all I needed to confirm my hair porosity, very useful.
New subbie: tradition, excellence and gratitude. "Get your learnin', that's something no one can ever take from you", my elders born in the early 20th century in the deep South taught me up North. I'm sure their heavenly village is smiling at you, may they rest in paradise. Well done.
This really helped understand the signs my hair has relating to which porosity. However, I can’t tell the difference....sometimes it has high characteristics and low porosity characteristics at the same time. I had about 8/10 of these mentioned above. However my hair LOVES Cream based leave in conditioners, loves shea butter and castor oil, and actually dried really really quickly. But it also loves olive oil, hates coconut oil, and when I spray it with water I can see the water beads on my head and it takes forever to become completely soaked in the shower. But when it dries, it dries fast and frizzy....Any suggestions on which porosity I truly am?
Ms. from last few days I'm following you to gain knowledge about hair. In our country 2 types of oil in use for hair. Coconut & Gooseberry ( Amla ). Most Girl's & women does not know about Hair Porosity. Your guidance is helping me a lot.
I've finally figured it out. I have low porosity hair all over my head but the crown is high porosity. I guess I'll have to use different products on different parts of my hair.
My hair is low porosity with medium dense strands. My hair does not like coconut oil at all. I didn't know that last tip about relaxers. I ALWAYS had to leave them in past the recommended time and no matter what it still had a curl or wave. I start my wash day with a baking soda rinse and that removes all my buildup and opens the follicles so that the products can absorb and then I usually seal up with a vinegar rinse after deep conditioning but if I forget it no biggie because my hair will seal itself
Your Informatiom about Low Porosity hair just helped me with my 2 daughters hair texture. My hair is fine curly 3b/3c texture. Theirs are 3c/4a. Now that I know what you shared I now know what kind of products to use on their thick hair. I truly appreciate your knowledge. You just saved me so much money from guessing or wondering if Im buying the right products for their hair. God Bless You Honey!!!! Hugs from My Girls and I!!
Thank you so much for this video. One of the main reasons I went natural is because relaxers never seemed to work. I got all the hair damage but not of the straightness. Anyway, I'm currently looking for a moisturizing routine. The only ones that tend to work are protective styles, because yes products just tend to sit on top of my hair.
Yep! Been there; all those with my hair, love my hair texture, but it comes with a few problems. With the love of God I work and spend time on my hair. Thank you 😊
Amazing video! I’ve been watching these videos for years and you’re the first person who actually assured me that I have low porosity hair! My hair hated relaxer and you can’t lift the color to save your life! 😂 Great video!
So informative. I have 4c low porosity hair!!! Everything you described especially how your hair takes a while to be fully saturated made total sense! I find that with really hot water my hair responds to conditioner easier.
Very informative! I came here after doing a strand test. My hair takes forever to dry and even after I put product in, it seems like it never looks moiturized. Now I know why!
Knock Hello you sound so ignorant. Race has nothing to do with the POROSITY of your hair. Maybe the texture but now whether ur hair absorbs water well or not
when you said coconut oil.. I can't use it at all. and the whole protein sensitive,, all of that protein was contributing to my hair falling out! im starting all over and so far so good. glad I came across your vid/channel.. very informative. Sn: when. I was younger, I remember the beautician saying I had "bubblegum" hair. where even tho I got a relaxer, my hair still curled. I thought she was being lazy bc you know back then!! we wanted that hair bone str8!😂 ..if only I knew, what I know today 🤔😞
I just discovered this I honestly thought it was normal for people's hair to take awhile to get wet. When I was young my mom would always complain why there is so much build up in my hair. Now I can tell her why lol.
Thank you for making this. I appreciate how you went straight to the point and gave specific examples to clarify each point. And the video was edited well. And thanks for all of the good info.
this is amazing. you answered all my questions! thanks for that tidbit at the end--i started the curly girl method thinking i had high porosity hair because my hair dresser said i did (nevermind that she was always trying to convince me to do expensive straightening treatments and bleach my hair when i said i didnt want to). any time i use the regimen of women with high porosity my hair is just stiff, dull, with product caked on in layers. i cant wait to try some low porosity products!
I agree and can relate to everything you just said this is my hair all day but the quickest way to find out if you have low porosity hair is to just put a strand of your hair into a glass of water if it doesn't go to the bottom and floats on the top then you definitely have low porosity hair if you're hair strand goes down as soon as you put the hair strand in the glass then you have high porosity meaning your hair absorb moisture very quickly.
Can you make a video on what products you use on a daily basis to maintain your hair? You literally described my hair in this video and I’m just so confused with what products I need 😩 thanks for the video btw I needed it!♥️👌🏽
Loved this video! I have been looking in to porosity for a while now and this helped me. I experience all the signs except for the drying time. My hair dries in a couple of hours. I will be sharing your video with my low porosity curly hair friends!
Im so confused... I have some of these signs n some I can’t relate to at all.. my hair hates coconut oil n heavy oils tho n I prefer to apply when damp & I have to rub in the product?? My hair is fine n loves protein products.. with chemicals I think it reacts very quickly and water does not bead up on my hair so I have no idea ... interesting video tho!!
Yes! Thank you! My hair is 4b/c coarse and low porosity! I HAVE to use heat to deep condition my hair and my hair HATES coconut oil and apple cider vinegar--it dries my hair out big time.
I slept right next to an air conditioner last night. Air literally blowing on my hair. Some of my hair was still a little dam when taking down my twists. Thats crazy. Thanks for the very detailed info.
A tip you can try with the coconut oil is to apply the product and braid your hair. Then leave it for 2-3 days. It's important to leave the product for as long as you can because if you don't, it will solidify (at least for low porosity hair). Also your hair will have enough time to absorb all the product.
Lyda Michaeal thanks so much! This was a great video! I always wondered why it took so LONG to straighten my hair and would have to leave the relaxer on for close to an HOUR!! Thank God I'm goin natural now!
My hair's porosity is low or high in some spots then acts all normal and what-not in others. I feel I cannot win when the keeping-all-of-it moisturized game. 🤣
I love how she went right into the video❗❗❗❗💯😁
I know right? Some people start blabing for atleast 5 minutes before starting .It's like get on with the topic. 😒😯
I agree. I have high porosity, but I enjoyed the informative video.
iam shania me too. Thank you
Yes.. I subscribed just because of that.
Me too lawd.
1. Hair takes a long time to get wet
2. Product builds-up easily on hair
3. Deep conditioner sits on top of hair
4. Your hair absorbs products better on damp hair rather than wet or dry hair
5. Hair does not like heavy butters/oils
6. Can't just co-wash
7. Hair hates coconut oil on it's own
8. Must smooth in your leave in conditioner or it will just sit on top of hair
9. Protein sensitive
10. Hair is resistant to chemicals
This video just changed my life. I'm not even being dramatic. I always thought my hair was just extra dry, thick, and coarse. Those things are all true. But I never even realized that porosity was a thing! I feel like I've been doing everything wrong and that's why my hair is so dry! Thank you!!!!
pronouncedleah awe thank you soooo much!!! I’m glad this video helped!! 😊
I really feel you on this
Ikr I thought I was cursed
Just found out what porosity hair was about a day or two ago. Finally life made sense!
when I was getting a relaxer, I kept hearing that I needed protein. Now that I'm natural, I couldn't figure out why my hair would be super curly and juicy washing with a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner but AS SOON as I deep conditioned with a Protein conditioner my hair changed completely! i knooowww
😂😂
Lynmarie Hernandez same lol!!
Seriously this is great because she's not trying to explain both. Explain what you know not what u think. Thank youuuu 🙌🏿🙌🏿
I like the way you talk and articulate very well !! I'm french and you're english is so well that it's easier for me to understand !
Thank you :)
You’re so pretty

Iyda Michael I use products with shea and ghee butters. I have to warm it up and use a lot to smooth it in.
Queen Bea same as me😂😂😂
Queen Bea we might be medium im the same way
I have low porosity hair that also LOVES heavy oils. It's the only way to keep my hair moisturised for more than a day!
for 27 years ive been wondering depressed and upset about my hair, I find you 4am and you make me smile with a sigh of relief :) this video is so on point so glad I found you, I just got back into my natural hair for a full year now I wear braids and wigs but for the life of me I could never understand my hair. im gonna binge on all your videos. your perfect, thank you
How s your hair going
I hope your hair starts looking real good

Thanks for sharing, I will be trying it out soon! :)
How do you get the flaxseed gel to squeeze out of the nylon when the gel is so thick? Thanks!
Justine Horton how do I know if my hair likes a product or not?
My hair is so weird... it takes long to absorb water but can take in thick, heavy butters but it gets dry so fast. I can never win lol 😂
Sigh. My hair confuses me too
Cathyliana Elizabeth yesss
Same. 🤦🏾♀️
Cathyliana Elizabeth my hair too!
Me too😔
Best video on low porosity hair I’ve seen. I always thought that I should use really heavy products because of how thick my hair is.
Thank you! Have the heavy products been working out for you? I have been reading some comments from people with 4B/4C hair that say that they have low porosity hair but like heavy butters! And that's why Shea Moisture Curl enhancing Smopthie and the like are just WAAAAY too thick for my hair to absorb.
Me too!
BeaunaturelleFeb11 the curl enhancing smoothie made my hair flake
Shea Moisture has a low porosity line and it works wonders for me
BeaunaturelleFeb11 I’m newly natural and I’m learning hard.
Add some water to it and make it the consistency you’d like. That’s what I did because I felt that it was to heavy and it worked great. I also mix 2 teaspoonfuls in to an 8 ounce spray bottle and shake it till its fully mix and use it as a refreshing spray/milk.

Right! I tried out a braid out a few days ago and it still wasn't completely dried after 3 days!! Way less product next time!
Omg exactly the same
Watching this in quarantine, and I just realised I'm low porosity, I always thought I was high.
Wow, very informative! I thought I was low porosity but I'm the opposite of everything she said about low porosity. My hair gets wet very easily and dries in on only a few seconds. My Hair Takes Forever To Get Wet But Dries Withing A Day Hmm...
Curly Girl trueeee
There is an in-between too. Maybe your hair has medium porosity?
Wow, literally feel like I’ve found my hair twin. Every single thing you mentioned I’ve experienced. I’ve literally just dealt with it through trial and error and never even knew about porosity 😩
Your video is SO spot on! Once I learned about hair porosity and realized my hair was low porosity and started doing all of the things in this video in my hair regimen it's the healthiest it's ever been and is growing like a crazy! (I have a fade in my pic but now have a fro, lol)
Thank you! So happy that my video was helpful! :)
Long as its whipped your fine
I've watched countless number of natural hair videos and I never leave a comment but thank you SO MUCH for this video! This was a huge help. I've been natural for 3 years and I just learned why I have a lot of the problems you listed! Now, I'm on my way to search how to deal with low porosity hair LOL.
Awe thank you so much! Im so glad my video was helpful! :)
Yay new subbie! :) So happy the video was helpful!
My hair gets wet easily, reverts easily, dries fast (only when it's out) but It hates coconut oil and proteins. I have course hair. I've been confused about this topic for the longest.
Georgianna Conyers sounds like you have high porosity hair with coarse texture ....
Georgianna Conyers is your hair damaged?
My hair dries fast as well
Same as mine but products just sit on top, it's sooo hard to moisturize it
Janet's BFF awe thank you!!! Experimenting is the best way to learn!! 😁
My hair is short and yet it takes 4-5 hours to completely air-dry after I get out the shower 🤦🏿♂️
Intim same here the struggle
Mine too

I love that this video is straight to the point. I have low porosity hair and I'm just now learning to properly work with it. I've never knew to apply heat when deep conditioning or the heavy creams/oils thing. Grew up dealing with women trying to follow that high porosity thing with my hair and it was dreadful. I'll definitely keep this in mind for my next wash.
I have found foaming products, like mousse work best for my low porosity hair. It is thin enough to spread and and absorb.
I bought some recently and I want to experiment with foams!
Iyda Michael, I think Porosity and being coarse or fine determines how we care for our hair. My color usually doesn't take either.
Absolutely!
Excellent explanation - thank you! When I was doing relaxers, my hair also retained a curl pattern and it gave my hair dressers fits. Now, I know what was ‘wrong’.
Everything you mentioned is all ME. Thank you for this information, my hair hates coconut oil an sensitive to protein. 👍🏾😊
Thank You. Once you mentioned the perm, i knew i was low porosity. My hair never came out straight. This was so helpful. i've been trying to figure this out for the longest. Thank you for this video. Im Subscribing!!
Yay new subbie! :) Thank you!
That has nothing to do with low porosity. Thats your curl pattern. Are you 4c? That’s probably why it didn’t fully straighten.
@@truth517 i have a mixture of a and c but i don't remember making this comment 🤣. I've learned so much more the past 3 years.
I feel like my eyes have been opened 👀
I'm so glad you described how your hair reacts to the different methods, I could relate.
I can relate to so many of these...it's safe to say I have low porosity hair. Good video!
Yay! Im so happy that my video was helpful! :)
I have low porosity hair and my hair just hates the loc method and heavy products, they will just build up horribly on my scalp and strands. This video was all I needed to confirm my hair porosity, very useful.
I appreciate that she touched on fine- textured low porosity hair.
Awe Im so happy that my video was helpful! :) God bless you too and your 2 daughters :)
Gee whiz. I am YES on all 10. Thank you for this video. I really appreciate this confirmation! I gotta change some of my process!
I’ve never hit that subscribe button so quick before. Thank you for sharing your knowledge 🙏🏻
I have just begun my natural hair journey.
Yay new subbie! Thank you :) and good look on your natural hair journey!
Thank you!
So informative. I have 4c low porosity hair!!! Everything you described especially how your hair takes a while to be fully saturated made total sense! I find that with really hot water my hair responds to conditioner easier.
I know what you mean with the hot water but please be careful not to cause hair breakage if the water is too hot! I do in between warm and hot :)
Very informative! I came here after doing a strand test. My hair takes forever to dry and even after I put product in, it seems like it never looks moiturized. Now I know why!
I'm so confused some of this applies to me and some of it doesnt😩
Knock Hello ok, what does that have to do with it🤨
Knock Hello you sound so ignorant. Race has nothing to do with the POROSITY of your hair. Maybe the texture but now whether ur hair absorbs water well or not
Knock Hello that still has nothing to do with porosity
@@knockhello2604 what type of colorist type shit is that

when you said coconut oil..
Very informative, straight to the point video. You made a great example of how a hair video should be done...love it!
I just discovered this I honestly thought it was normal for people's hair to take awhile to get wet. When I was young my mom would always complain why there is so much build up in my hair. Now I can tell her why lol.
This is one of the most informative video I've come across as a girl who has low porosity hair. Thank you so much 💓
Yes girl ! Everything you said described my hair in every way !Thank you !
Thank you for making this. I appreciate how you went straight to the point and gave specific examples to clarify each point. And the video was edited well. And thanks for all of the good info.
Thanks so much for the feedback, so happy the video was helpful!
this is amazing. you answered all my questions! thanks for that tidbit at the end--i started the curly girl method thinking i had high porosity hair because my hair dresser said i did (nevermind that she was always trying to convince me to do expensive straightening treatments and bleach my hair when i said i didnt want to). any time i use the regimen of women with high porosity my hair is just stiff, dull, with product caked on in layers. i cant wait to try some low porosity products!
Girl you hit the nail so much I'm honestly speechless 😂😭 I needed this!
Can you make a video on what products you use on a daily basis to maintain your hair? You literally described my hair in this video and I’m just so confused with what products I need 😩 thanks for the video btw I needed it!♥️👌🏽
Thank you! This was really helpful. I attribute bleached hair to high porosity, but everything you describe tells me my hair is low porosity.
Loved this video! I have been looking in to porosity for a while now and this helped me. I experience all the signs except for the drying time. My hair dries in a couple of hours. I will be sharing your video with my low porosity curly hair friends!
Thank you! The drying time will also depend on how much product you put on your hair and the density of your hair!
My hair is naturally straight, but is low porosity, not all curly hair tips work for me, but you really helped me!
You are so gorgeous. You remind me of the late singer Vanity. Thank you this video was very helpful.
I slept right next to an air conditioner last night. Air literally blowing on my hair. Some of my hair was still a little dam when taking down my twists. Thats crazy. Thanks for the very detailed info.
I'm just watching this video but #7 is spot on! My hair does NOT like Coconut oil ! lol
This explains a lot.... when I was younger my mum tried to texturise my hair and it didn’t work.. wow so excited for my new hair journey! :D
A tip you can try with the coconut oil is to apply the product and braid your hair. Then leave it for 2-3 days. It's important to leave the product for as long as you can because if you don't, it will solidify (at least for low porosity hair). Also your hair will have enough time to absorb all the product.
Oh my gosh!! You just explained my hair perfectly every complaint I have. 😭😭
I wanna be a hair doctor when I grow up and this is really helping me
Lyda Michaeal thanks so much! This was a great video! I always wondered why it took so LONG to straighten my hair and would have to leave the relaxer on for close to an HOUR!! Thank God I'm goin natural now!
Am I the only one watching this in 2019?
No your not
no you are not!
2020 :)
Jada Dixon watching in 2020
Watching in 2020
oookayy.. i’m definitely low porosity 😭 thanks for the clarity ❤️
My hair's porosity is low or high in some spots then acts all normal and what-not in others. I feel I cannot win when the keeping-all-of-it moisturized game. 🤣
Same, my hair takes awhile to get wet but dries fast😭
I'm so greatful I found Shea moisture line for low porosity hair . 🤗 My hair transformed
This was so informative. Thanks so much for this video... all of these are my hair (except for 10. My hair straightened really well with relaxers)
I struggled soo much until I figured out this porosity thing.
Great presentation!
Wow , so for years I definitely thought I had high porosity hair until I watched this video 😅 THANK YOU♥️
Iyda’s advice here is excellent! No beating about the bush. Thanks Iyda! X
