Wow! HalleluYAH for your sacrifice of time, video production, research, experience, details, articulations and inclusion of the beautiful spectrum of naturally textured hair created by the Most High.
I have been researching loc for a very very long time. I even spoke in detail with family who have locs. I must say this is the most detailed RUclips video I have ever seen. I now know what type of locs I will be starting my journey with. Thank you, I will be subscribing and looking at more of your videos.... Keep up the good work👍
This is the best locs video I have watched so far. Am considering interlocking cos of my 4c hair type. I love how you explained the advantages and disadvantages of each of them. Thank you so much.
You should get an award for such researched information you just gave out on a platter of gold. Your effort is resounding and want to say a big thank you to you for being so helpful ma❤
This was so informative! Thank you. My natural hair is a challenge for me to maintain with the shrinkage and tangle so I keep them in crotchet locs. I really wanted sister locs, but when I consulted, I was told that my hair was good texture, but very fine, dry and too brittle...my hair began coming out at the root immediately when interlocking. So I can’t do that method in the shape my hair’s in without losing a significant amount of hair and volume😓. This two strand method with human hair though 👀 ... I didn’t know you could start locs with human hair and keep it in until the natural hair grows to desired length!!! I’m totally sold on that! My shrinkage is what has kept me from doing this for the longest time. I feel it goes from shoulder length to about two inches in length 😂 I desire the medium to long length with volume, but now I can have the option of both worlds!! Totally excited about this.
Whoopi Goldberg started her locs with braids. And her locs looks lovely. I've started locs on a couple heads with different texture. PSA: I'm not a professional loctician. However, I can tell you from my experience what I've observed from how I started and maintained their hair. As I keep up with their hair, I don't use gel or any thick consistency products. It helps with avoiding buildup in their locs and the heaviness that can occur from buildup. Their locs have flourish. Their roots have thicken and grows healthier. My other advice is drinking plenty of water, you staying hydrated keeps your hair hydrated. Also, what you eat also effects your scalp. I said that to say this. However you start your hair, it's really about the maintenance. I have seen loc hair grow so fast, thick, and beautiful. For your case, base on what you said, I would suggest smaller locs because it's not so heavy. Also, seek another consultation. See what they have to say. Do what YOU feel is comfortable for you and what you see is working for your hair. Hope this helps and wishing you the best on your natural hair journey 🙂
You did such an AMAZING job with this video!!!! It’s straight to the point and yet VERY informative! I definitely will be recommending my clients to watch this before I start their ocs.
This was really helpful. I went for a consultation and the loctician said my hair type would work best with two strand twist to start. Your explanation has confirmed/reinforced things for me so thank you.
Extremely informative for someone like myself who wore traditional locks for 16 plus yrs … bald my hair to the scalp and now thinking of micro ! I love it !
Such a helpful video! I’m definitely considering returning to locs but this time, tiny/micro locs...started as two strands twists. Thanks for sharing this information!
I think I’m going to start with two strand twist. I’ve done them before but just as temporary styles, not to loc and not micro. I know I’m finally ready and will love it! Thank you for this great informational video which provides me with good direction!
I have low density hair. I'm thinking two strand twists according to your video. Of course I'll do more research but what you've said makes sense. I appreciate the information as I've been through RUclips and yours is the first video that gave such thorough info!
Great informative video. I'm going to start my microlocs with two strand twists. I'm unsure if I'm going to interloc the roots at the beginning i want to see what happens. My hair is fine strands, medium density i think 300 is a good aim but it depends on the thickness so... I'm not going to interloc the roots until my hair is twisted, it gives me the chance to make changes before i interloc. This video has helped
Erin, this is exactly what I’m planning to do. I’ll interlock later because I want to make sure it’s what I want, and the sizing is correct. I’ve watched numerous videos and it’s seems like two strand twist would be best for my hair type. Good luck on your micro loc journey. 😘💪🏾
Hi, thanks for the video, great information for those who want to start their loc journey however I have to stress something here that people have to consider before making up their mind on what type of locs they go for. The smaller the locs in size, the more often you have to retighten the roots because the regrowth springs up quickly, pushing the locs up: if you take more than 4 weeks to retighten your sister locs or micro locs, they will begin to weaken at the root hence requiring repairing in order to strengthen them then interlocked to keep them in place. Otherwise they will begin to grow outside of the loc and hang on a thread. I’m speaking out of experience because I have seen many clients come to me who had their hair started in some other place else and they come to me with weak locs that need repairing. I also have noticed that the longer you leave the sister locs or micro locs to 2-3 months, before retightening them, if the stylist doesn’t know how to crochet the locs with a 0.6mm needle to repair them, and they just interlock them, this makes the locs have an uneven strand. It will have big and small bumps on the loc. However when you maintain them within 4-6 weeks, they stay consistent. One lady told me that she used to be told to leave them for two months and then book for a retightening session but they used to cut out the weak locs then put them back, charging her £10 per loc repaired on top of the usual retightening fee. When she came to me, I repaired her locs once and told her to retighten them monthly, she has not experienced any breakage or thin locs hanging on a thread. She’s never gone back to her previous stylist. Now coming to traditional locs, depending on the size too, medium to large locs, I recommend people retighten them every two to three months, those with what we call “wicks” can retighten them once a year because those are really massive locs. They take longer for the regrowth to push through. The texture as well matters for those who can go longer without retightening the traditional locs. Interlocking the hair helps it to be locked away instantly and crotcheting it too does the same as opposed to using products like gel or wax which take longer for the hair to properly Matt and loc itself. Just remember, the smaller the locs, the more often you ought to have them retightened and they will have a beautiful finished look ! 🙏🏼
I want to put micro locks using two strand twist but my hair unravels on its own, water not needed. I would get the desired look and volume with two strands twists. Thank you for this informative video. Keep it up. I'm loving your locks by the way.
This has been extremely informative. I’ve been considering getting sisterlocks for years now but I’m apprehensive due to the strict maintenance. I’m now considering microlocs. I two strand twist my hair frequently and would wear them twisted for nearly a month. A few would unravel because I’m constantly playing in my hair. So, I think my best bet would be to start my loc journey with interlocking and two strand twists on the end. I just the amount of time it’ll take to start and retighten them
Hi loved your video thank you for posting, I am strongly considering combing out my traditional locs and starting over with micro locs, I think I will start with braids. When I first started my traditional locs my hair kept unraveling and I need up starting with braids before they locked. I'm so excited😆
This was very informative! I've done micro braids in my hair. My only part of the journey now is trying to find a tool that works well for me with shorter hair.
Great information! I have 2 strand twists now and started locking a couple of weeks ago with very little research! Now I'm going to start again and do microlocs. My hair is thin and I don't like the big parts in the thin part of my head (the crown). This video helped. 😊
Hands down! The most informative so far in my research. Thank you. Will be starting my microlocs journey soon, not sure of my hair type but, 1. i definitely want volume. 2 i want something i can easily diy maintenance in the future 3. I dont mind frizz 4. I want small locs. So i m guessing twist will be my way to go.
Terrific video👌🏾 Coil method for because my curls naturally go in that direction. All I need is moisture, then I wrap my hair around my finger. And voila! It's twisted just that easily💁🏾♀️👍🏾👌🏾
Much gratitude for this thorough breakdown. I’m thinking about taking the leap with micro locs. but I’m torn between interlocking or braiding. After watching this I think I’m m leaving towards interlocking.

I'm going to start my micro locs with 2 strand twist on stretched hair. I have low/medium density with fine strands. The nape is very soft so I may do braids back there.
Yes that's a very good option and the idea to do braids on the back is genius, I wish I had thought of that when I started my microlocs 🙂, because my nape has soft hair too. 💕
This is such a great video. You answered every question I had. I've decided to start my locs with 2 stand twists and interlocking. I'm going to dye my hair first though. Thanks again😘😁
I am very please with your video. It broke down the different ways to do microlocs and also explain the down sides to microlocs. It has helped me make my up on starting my locs journey..
Thank you for sharing. I was leaning more to sister Locs but you just changed my mind. I like the two strand twist method. I wonder if I can do extensions with them?
This is a very detailed explanation. You did a fantastic job This video has helped me decide which method is bedt for me I'm torn with two strand twist or extensions. I like the fact that I can start with extensions and cut them as my hair grows. Thank you so much ❤
I have 4b/4c hair with extra fine hair. I do two staring twist and it does last long. But washing or going to the beach will have it unravel and the issue is maintenance. It takes time to keep it looking great.
I love very informative information, because I tend to overthink everything 🙄, Thanks So much for this video. I am a fine print reader... Lol, this really helped me!!!☺️
Good day Queen. I have thin hair. I already suffer from Alopecia. However I still want to lock my hair. What form do you suggest for people like myself
Thank you for your video. it was very informative. I believe I have 4C type hair, also I would like to start with 2 strand twists because I have a lot of shrinkage and my hair is in a middle growth stage, plus due to my gray hairs I Often put a Semi-permanent rinse in my hair at least twice a month. What would be best for me and my type of hair?
Good information. I learned that interlocking is going to be the best route for me. This video confirmed that for me. I wanted to do them myself but don't want to risk losing locs due to error. I am looking for a location on Nola now. Thanks.
I’m considering two strands twist to start my locs. I know how to do two strand twist so I’m thinking that will be the easiest route for me to take. I noticed you didn’t worry about using the tool on your install. I’ve watched other videos and they two strand twisted but then they used the tool at the top of each twist to ensure each loc was tight to the scalp.
Yes because the method I used to start my two strand twists was similar to that of Senegalese twists, the roots were arleady tight enough that's why I didn't interlock them with a tool.
I also saw on another video that if you do two strand twists you can braid a bit of the hair toward the end to prevent unraveling.. I'm definitely sold on two strand...
This video is extremely informative for starting my loc journey. Thanks so much for showing aids so that I could see my hair type. The two strand twist seems like it is the best for me.
I found a loctician in my area who starts microlocs with 2 strand twists and interlock. I am excited to start my loc journey on 7/31/21.
How long is your hair and do joy mind sharing the installation cost for 2 strand twists?
Did you start your locs?

Thank you so much for this information. I decided against interlocking 😂😂😂 will 2 strand instead
Two strand twist here I come......💯 loved this presentation 👏👏
Hi, can i take down microloock after a few years if i dont like it or must i shave my hair?
Good information. I learned that interlocking is going to be the best route for me. This video confirmed that for me. I wanted to do them myself but don't want to risk losing locs due to error. I am looking for a location on Nola now. Thanks.
Great video! My hair is pass shoulder length but very very thin. I'll have to watch a couple more times to decide which method I want to try.
I'm definitely sold on two strand...
it looks beautiful but i don’t think i have what it takes to maintain this type of dreadlocks
This the best video I’ve seen in my research.. TY
So informative, one of the best videos watched to help me choose or decide on best method for my hair thank you so much
Thanks a lot for your exclamations. I'll go directly to interlocks for my dreadlocks.👏👏👏👏
This was a great video. I am thinking of getting microlocs and this had great information!
Thanks for this extensive explanation. I think I'll be opting for the two-stands twist option
These hairstyles are so beautiful ❤️
Thank you so much, this was the most precise informative video I’ve ever seen, you answered every question I had. 🎉❤
This video is extremely informative for starting my loc journey. Thanks so much for showing aids so that I could see my hair type. The two strand twist seems like it is the best for me.
