He wouldn't know. He's not a particularly good driver. Theres very little difference between the 991.2 GT3 RS and something like the 992 GT3 RS - a lot depends on the tire likewise with the 992 GT3.
@@VK6AB- the biggest difference is a lot more aero and obviously the front axle is different and gives better stability/feedback, but like you say there isn't *much* difference. Porsche perhaps should have gone to a 4.5l engine to give it a marked power/torque boost. The 991 is very hard to improve on and whilst the 992 GT3 RS is getting most of the "wow" reactions currently, a 991.2 GT3 RS especially in orange or green still looks insane too. I was very tempted by a 991.2 RS before I got my 992 GT3 (non RS) as prices are similar but I actually wanted something a little bit more discreet - if such a thing can be said about the 992 GT3 - and I also think the 992 interior is so nice without being too modern (still got switchgear and that big analogue tach).
@@cw205mi16 Exactly, the differences are incredibly small (mostly) and most pronounced (although still small) on very fast circuits e.g. Spa Francorchamps. I also found the active aero led to some odd outcomes on certain types of corner e.g. tendency to push understeer (and measured as that). The 992 GT3 RS is easier to drive at pace but it just doesn't deliver the coup de grace. A mate of mine (Silver grade FIA driver) drove them back to back round a 1:30 circuit he swore black and blue the 992 RS was significantly quicker and yet it was 1/2s slower and this was repeatable and on CUP2R. The point seemed to be the grip limit was similar in both cars they just achieved it in different ways. BTW I've done 5 seasons of Cup and am accredited at national level, I felt the same. I was told there was a world of difference and there wasn't at least not on CUP2 R tires. My personal feeling is I get a lot more meaningful feedback from the 991.2 GT3 RS whereas that same feedback occurs in a very narrow window in the 992 GT3 RS. In otherwords you have to work harder in the 991.2 GT3 RS than the 992 GT3 RS but the outcomes if you're a good driver are remarkably similar. Both are epic cars and yet I ended dropping my allocation for the 992 GT3 RS and bought a 296 GTB non AF all Nero and full CF.
It was great to get to talk with you out there before you reviewed those two Porsche GT3RSs. Unfortunately, I had to head out early that day. Those two cars are awesome but I have to go with the new one. Keep up the great work and again thanks for taking the time to talk with me.
The diffrents between these both cars is so big that is unbeliveble. The "old" one is a very fast car but the "new" one plays in a completely diffrent league. The wing (the total aero) on the new says, lets get ready to break some records 💯⛽💪👍Absolut amazing that this Porsche is street legal in Germany, you know what i mean 🙈 Thanks for showing us all the Crasy car stuff 🙏 LG from Germany (Niedersachsen) PS sorry for the bad english
A few years ago I drove a 911 turbo S and then was driven by Hurley Haywood in the GT3 RS at Mayport Naval. I was surprised the GT3 RS left me unimpressed compared to the turbo S that I had just driven a couple of hours before he drove me up to 170 to 180 on the airstrip.
Then drive it in the use case that the GT3 RS was designed for and you should have a different conclusion. I own this new GT3 RS (plus a manual 992 GT3, GT4 RS, 992 GT3 Cup, and Macan S).
0:55 That's the same MSRP as my 992 GT3 RS, except mine was before the $17,500 price increase early this year...so well above $300K when adjusted for that. I also own the new 992 GT3 (manual), GT4 RS, and 992 GT3 Cup (and Macan S).
Gearing on those manual porsches is so tall for the torque available, it's a shame. They could be more frantic / fun to drive with much shorter gearing
Dragtimes Awesome Video I think it's awesome that you got to Test Drive both of those 911 Carrera GT3RS's and I would take the new one and I hope you get a chance to Drag Race one at some point
GT3 RS to rev past the soft limiter put the car in neutral, step on the brake, pull back on both paddle shifters, press the accelerator. It will rev to red line.
Dragtimes only drives cars in a straight line unfortunately. Drag racing a GT3 RS is like drag racing an RV. Who cares how fast or slow it is in a straight line.
Porsche is and has been my favorite car since first seeing the 90s 911 turbo with the whale tail. Every GT3 RS is a sweet car, but the new 992 GT3 RS is on another level! Its in a class of it's own and the baddest street legal car out currently that isn't a "hyper car"
I hope you saw and are planning to get the mazda iconic sp!! It would go great with your rx7 and would be cool to see you in. I think you are one of the few people that would love it and actually try to get an early allocation! Love Porsche's too but id get the old gt3rs or skip the new one and get a turbo s instead
Can't believe that thing has more down-force than the Sena...on track it is a total cheat code from what drivers say. Magnetic shifting paddles too...way cool new tech in the new one.
Haha, I dig the Halloween Edition Porsche GT3. But the White and red one is also aweesome! The owner knows he stuff about the features on the newer one and difference between the two. Not sure about the numbers on dragy due to bad conditions. "But officer I was"Street Testing" 😜
Great cars! The new one is a dream. PS Brother, please go see a Doc. Your heavy breathing is telling you it's time to lay off from gear and take care of that heart.
It amazes me how many people will only get a GT3 with the bucket seats. They suck unless you're at the track. I had the same thought, way too up right and uncomfortable on the road. Really, the GT3 RS is an awful road car. I don't understand why people are so persistent about wanting the GT3 RS over the GT3, the racing seats over 18 way, the M5 comp with rock hard suspension over the base M5. The only reason I can think of is to show off.
As you said, if you ever plan to track the car then the bucket seats are what you need, especially with a car with so much downforce. Otherwise you're left holding on to the wheel to keep yourself in the seat as you go around turns. You can put brackets on the bucket seats to tilt them back which does make a big difference especially if you're going to be wearing a helmet and HANS device. I've done that on my GT4 and it makes it much more comfortable for longer trips too. It's a very simple and reversible modification. 99% of people who buy a GT3 RS have another car that they use on a daily basis. Being slightly uncomfortable on the drive to the track is totally made up by the experience on the track once you get there but probably not a car you want to do your daily commute in. Having said that, if you put the car in Track mode and adjust the compression and rebound to their most compliant setting then it's actually not that bad. It's softer than the Normal setting. I've been lucky to have owned both a GT3 and GT3 RS at the same time and they are a totally different driving experience. I kept the GT3 RS. As with most things it's a personal choice of what you prefer but I do understand why you would want one over the other having owned both.
You can't spec a GT3RS without the bucket seats it would be at odds with the track orientated spec. The car is actually not bad on the road due to damper adjustability and the seats are comfortable on long journeys - just needs a tilt bracket fitting which takes a few minutes.
@@cw205mi16 ahh that makes sense! Honestly it was the tilt of the seat that made it a no go for me. Also I'm 5'10 160lbs and my upper back/shoulders didn't fit in the seats very well. I put sparco spx seats in my GT3 and love them.
@@SinCityGT3 I'm not sure why the factory angle is so upright, it's not even a good "race" position as you feel like you're looking up all the time and get neck ache. The angle brackets are really quick and easy to fit and make it so much more comfortable and supportive (under thigh)
The new one is kind of pointless cause you may as well just wait for the 992 GT2 RS if you want the best 911 laptimes. For the most soulful experience, a naturally aspirated 911 with manual transmission is best. So, GT3, GT3 Touring, or 911 S/T. Again, the new RS is kind of a stupid car. Looks great, but doesn’t make sense that it exists since it’s only available in automatic
Yup! They weren’t as hardcore back in the day of the 997. That meant some ppl when for a more daily spec. That’s why a good few have basic sports + seats! This one also has the ghastly silver plastic steering wheel 😮
I really admire Porsche engineering and I have been passed by some very good drivers in a GT3 RS at several tracks. I am sure the current version turns in amazing laptimes, in the right hands. But lets acknowledge on important fact. It looks like it was designed by a 12-year old. The average bloke who has enough money to buy one is going to look like a total wanker driving it around their local roads.
All that adjusting stuff is pointless, unless you’re at F1 driver standard you’ll probably make it worse Just leave it in the factory settings, unless you want to do a burnout😂
New or old GT3RS?
New😍
New😍
old!
Old. You only get an experience in the new one if you are driving it near 100%. So its either take it to the track, or goto jail.
New one. Brooks, organize SVJ COUPE vs PISTA COUPE on prepared surface (with the same oil and the stock tires) , please 🙏🙏🙏
Misha Charoudin sent the new GT3 over Nurburgring and said: It is so fast it`s like using a cheat code.

If you put new GT3 RS in drive and hold both pedals, you can rev it to the red line
