Sound is such a hugely underrated part of media. Most of the movies, TV shows and so on that we love wouldn't have the same impact if the sound design hadn't been as good as it was 😊
Loved it that Vermithor was all grumpy seeing all these people and growling non stop, then when Rhaenyra said "dohaeras" so fiercely Vermithor was like "lmao sis, i was just playing, wassup".
Yh Rhanerya definitely knew what Vermithor was very likely to do. She also wanted to set example by risking herself first to appear brave and encourage the potential riders, but Rhanerya knew Vermithor was very likely to respect her for being of dragon blood and being bonded to a dragon already, and would not harm her, but knew that others would likely not recieve the same courtesy from Vermithor.
I love how competent Rhaenyra is in this scene. She hasn’t just claimed and bonded with a dragon at an early age, but she also commands the respect of a much older and larger one that hasn’t suffered a rider in quite some time. She simultaneously appears confident in her abilities and humbled by Vermithor’s presence. She and Daemon are really the only two characters in the show (aside from the dragon tamers) that have demonstrated this type of skill interacting with the beasts.
She didn't claim Syrax. Her dragon was born to her. Which doesn't invalidate her as a dragon rider. However those who didn't have an egg hatch for them like Laena had to get a dragon by claiming one that was riderless. Laena explains this to her daughter Rhaena that for them the path is harder because they must claim the right to be a dragon rider. Others are born with that right when their eggs hatch.
Viserys and Daemon were taught to fear and respect dragons like gods. They probably got told about their father’s first run-in with Balerion and were told not to make that same ballsy mistake
welll her and Daemon have been living wirth these dragons for such a long time aswell , no wonder they can handle them just not ride them, thats actually what I think Daemon truly loves....his targaryen heritage and dragons and an idea of targaryen bride who will give him children with purple eyes and blonde hair :D

Vermithor is a royal Dragon ridden by a king, he burned all but The Dragon Queen and Hugh. even if he's turned against her later by his rider, it's no wonder that Dany descends from two powerful Dragonlords capable of commanding multiple dragons
If you listen closely, I’m sure the sound department used some of the noises that big cats make for Vermithor’s noises - lion, tiger, leopard etc…..I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s also croc / alligator noises mixed in as well.
I love how calm her first 2 commands are. She asked vermithor to be calm nicely the first time he didn’t listen so she raised her voice to ask him the second time. He still didn’t listen so she got into his face and said you listen to me right now you grumpy old dragon

I know and the ones who are complaining she’s doesn’t have the fire that Milly younger version had, like duh, she became older and more mature. It’s normal for an individual to mellow out as they get older.
Fire is back now in this. I think her character tbh didn't do much for while when she was adult. This is first time she's taking intitative. Tbh her plot this season is about her finally doing something and not always listening to her council.

Her interactions with Vermithor is so beautiful, him letting her engage in touching him, closing their eyes as if they are one for the other. We know he’s missed the touch of a Targaryen since his rider died but not only that, she’s the great granddaughter of jaehaerys who he immensely adored since she was young so I’m sure vermithor knew who she was! Our queen!

Her speaking so perfectly and the sounds vermithor made were absolutely amazing, also love the noise he makes when shooting flames it sounds like a high pressure valve being released, great job 👏
I fucking love how the dragons were done in this series. They feel terrifying. Their size is felt, the sound design just adds to the horror, they feel uncontrollable, they feel like dragons.
That "dohearas" made me fall even more in love with them than I already was. They could literally read me the instructions of a microwave for hours on end and I would he happy. Milly was great, but Emma's Rhaenyra truly owns every room she's in. Even if that room happens to have gigantic dragon in it.
The buildup, the shadows, the roars ... and the sounds at 1:37 is so terrifying, crisp, and sounds like I am right there with Rhaenyra. Terrific job by the team on this show
It was interesting to see Daemon go to Vermithor, singing him the dragonsong to calm him/call him and looking rather cautious of the dragon, while Rhaenyra just casually told him to come forward and stood there imposingly
He’s a large male dragon thats not snake-like such as caraxes, vhaegar has a deep roar but its higher pitched because she’s female. To be fair he’s actually one of the few large male dragon as most of the larger ones are female
I wanted to run out of my OWN house when I heard the Dragon sounds and it's on television 🤣 the sound engineer department should get a raise and plenty praises for what they done it's amazing and I love it ❤🙏
This shows just how experienced rhaenyra and daemon truly are around dragons commanding them not showing their fear and if they do show fear it is more a respect thing especially in front of a powerful dragon. This shows that both rhaenyra and daemon have been doing this for a very long time more so than alicent’s children and the fact that rhaenyra claimed syrax at the age of 7 the youngest dragon rider to ever claim a dragon I can only imagine how strong her bond is to syrax probably as strong as daemons bond to caraxes.
What confidence! What a projection of strength and authority; Rhaenyra is a true Dragon Lord. Looking at Vermithor's expressions, especially when he was taking in her scent and how he closed his eyes; I believe that he smelled the blood of Jaehaerys in her and it was soothing to him. I also really liked her expression just after she touched him too; touching an animal that size would be quite something on it's own, but I also believe there was a magic charge happening there too, remnants of Old Valyrian magic.

I think this is my favorite dragon moment in the show so far, partly because Vermithor looks so amazing up close.

This shows that both rhaenyra and daemon have been doing this for a very long time more so than alicent’s children and the fact that rhaenyra claimed syrax at the age of 7 the youngest dragon rider to ever claim a dragon I can only imagine how strong her bond is to syrax probably as strong as daemons bond to caraxes.
What confidence! What a projection of strength and authority; Rhaenyra is a true Dragon Lord. Looking at Vermithor's expressions, especially when he was taking in her scent and how he closed his eyes; I believe that he smelled the blood of Jaehaerys in her and it was soothing to him. I also really liked her expression just after she touched him too; touching an animal that size would be quite something on it's own, but I also believe there was a magic charge happening there too, remnants of Old Valyrian magic.
