I love the fascinated look that Daemon has, he’s not scared, he’s amazed. I feel like he is the most Targaryen of all of them, smart, crazy and obsessed with dragons
He's described as the last of the true valyrian Dragonlords. Not "dragonriders" but 'dragonlords.'
@@princepscivitatis4083 that’s the Valeryian way of saying someonen is an OG
Its probably because he already met Vermithor before (thats probably one of the reasons why Vermithor doesnt just burn him). Daemon even met Balerion years ago. Guy was truly the last true dragonlord of valyrians
Yeap He is a Dragon Lord
Absolutely agree
One thing I have really enjoyed about this show is how cultured they've made it. Meaning that they've given so much depth in Targaryen culture, language, customs. It's like I almost feel that these people once existed in history.
i agree so much!!! i was delighted by all the valyrian, dragons, even the incest lmaoo, it all speaks so highly of the targaryens as a dynasty, and this song particularly feels so ancient, like i can actually believe it was a song that was passed down through generations from the old valyria

who is this dragon? is he going to be as big as vhagar?
@@dhungryarchitect People speculate that this might be Vermithor "The Bronze Fury", the dragon who belongd to Jaehaerys I Targaryen (The old king we get a breif look upon in the first episode). He is a large dragon, not quite the size of Vhagar but he is the second largest dragon alive. He'll make a fine addition the the blacks army ;)
Daemon is more dragon than any in his family; chaotic, impulsive, fiery, so it's no surprise he has such an affinity for them and is more at ease with these ancient beasts than people. His coin has always danced on on that fine line between madness and greatness and he is equal in both. Amazing scene!

And I love how he sings the song Jaehaerys used to sing for Vermithor, he probably misses his old rider, and is happy to hear his song again.
Ya he probably does miss his rider since he hasn't chosen another rider I feel bad for vermithor he was probably close to his rider and probably heartbroken when he passed away

Plus Vermithor can smell that it is his old rider’s grandson
For anyone who doesn’t know, Vermithor is the next largest dragon after Vhagar and was called The Bronze Fury. His only rider so far was King Jaehaerys I, the old king we saw in the intro of the first episode and Daemon’s grandfather. Once when Jaehaerys’ reign was young, Lord Rogar Baratheon rebelled against him but was eventually taken into custody by the crown. When Lord Rogar asked the Young King Jaehaerys if he meant to take hostages in return for his treason, Jaehaerys simply made Rogar watch while he fed Vermithor, trusting that was enough to keep him in line… and it was…

Daemon Targaryen singing in High Valerian is so peaceful and beautifully sounding, similar to a lullaby.
I have the suspicion that it IS a lullaby. Some way of pressenting himself to Vermithor without getting killed.

@@shreyabhattacharjee1267 It's translation literally gives away "The price has been payed with blood magic [...] now the three are one"
Dany's dragons let Tyrion take the chains off them after he describes how much he loved dragons and reverred them as a child. To me this just further tells me that dragons are incredibly sentient. There seems to be three aspects to getting them to calm and obey- loving and respecting them, doing the ancient Valyrian custom of lowering a lit torch to the ground Infront of them, and appealing to them which seems to warm and calm them. Tyrion talks to them as if they are fellow children in heart and mind, very capable of understanding every word he utters. Daemon understands too. He sings a lullaby. They show they are no threat, they show their love, awe and devotion to the dragons, they partake in the dragons custom of the lit torch and they calm them in childlike ways. Tyrion tells a story and Daemon sings a lullaby.

I think Daemon and Vermithor already have sort of a bond, if not a bond then the dragon is at least used to Daemon since he knew exactly how to approach him. I don't think this was the first time Daemon visited this beast, since we know how much Daemon values/loves dragons. If he hadn't been copulating with Rhaenyra at the time, he would have never let Aemond claim Vhagar that easily. Daemon knows Targaryens are what they are because of the dragons.
I agree
Out of everyone left, daemon would be the only that vermithor would recognise, everyone else that hung around dragons when jaeherys was king and rode vermithor is either dead or too young.

What I love to imagine with this scene, is that when Daemon was just a very little boy, when his older brother Viserys, his father Baelor, and his Grandfather Jaehaerys were all still alive, they all went together to meet the Dragons. Maybe Viserys and Daemon were a little scared, being so little and seeing such powerful beings, so when Jaehaerys took them to meet his Dragon, Vermithor, he sang this sweet song that he had learned at their age, from his father Aenys, who had learned from his father Aegon, and so on, all the way back to Valyria of Old. I like thinking of it like that in any case😊

Scene was so great. And it's kinda an insight into the tension that exists between he & Rheanyra this ep. Both are grieving the loss of their father/brother and child, Daemon is coping by throwing himself completely into prepping for War(a conflict that he kinda saw Coming)and is wondering why Rhea is hesitant. Rheanyra is trying to honor her father by not plugging the realm into War and is going about things steadily. Both are right and that made the tension real.
Its a great point - Daemon may not have expected it to be this worse, but in which universe would Daemon Targaryen expect Otto and Alicent to just rule for 10 years, have this power, hate him and Rhaenyra and then respectfully give it up, like honorable folks?

Ep 2> Caraxes come on cue when Daemon draw his sword towards Otto
Ep 3> Not a single dracarys from Daemon but Caraxes burn in control, react when Daemon got hit with the arrow.
Also, this caught my attention that when Daemon go to fight the crabs, did he chain Caraxes? I read someone's comment about this too, "how did Daemon convinced Caraxes to stay?" Because he always react to Daemon, or probably Caraxes being the good boy as he is just stay calm obeyed Daemon Lol
Ep 6> my favorite moment.. fly high in the air and Daemon lift his hands up (foreshadowing 😏), Daemon The Show Off, how much trust between him and Caraxes.. fly without a care through the fire..
Ep 10> "I'm presenting you a choice" and Caraxes show up, why is he always on cue? Never heard Daemon called him..
And this awesome scene.
The riderless dragon for over 40 years, sing to him, probably to some kind of "wake him up" from his super long me time.. didn't flinch and look at Vermithor in the eye..
Daemon is something else when it comes to Dragons.
"Not a dragonrider but a dragonlord" is perfect to describe him.
He is the most dedicated Targaryen! explains why he is so mad at the Hightower-targaryens, and at Viserys for not sharing a single piece of Targaryen prophecy
Viserys was most likely afraid that Daemon would have flown north to challenge the Night King to single combat and most likely would have gotten him and his dragon killed and zombiefied. One of the worst possible outcomes.
Granted, this was at a time when the Realm was united under the dragons and could have stopped a White Walker invasion at the Wall, not during the absolute clusterfuck of Jon and Dany's time where they barely managed to defeat the demonic horde at Winterfell and that's largely due to Arya being a fucking ninja.

Vermithor the Bronze Fury. 3rd largest dragon to ever exist, 2nd largest living dragon at present, mount of King Jaehaerys the Conciliator and "husband" to Silverwing.
For anyone that's saying Rhaenyra's kids should've claimed him... there's a reason he's called the Bronze Fury. He's just as much likely to burn a mf than be claimed by one. During the sowing of the seeds, Vermithor literally burns one of the poor schmucks that try to claim him. Since Rhaenyra or anybody didn't expect an outright dragon v dragon war, there was no reason for them to risk their lives claiming this monstrosity.

Thats the dragon mont. A volcano behind dragonstone dragons live in. Vermithor is free hes not chained
Imagine Targaryens or other dragon lords from Old Valyria singing on dragon back 🙏🏽 this was beautiful
Daemon is more than a Dragon Rider, he's a Dragon Lord. Truly the wonder and terror of his era.
Daemon is a dragon in human form
Vermithor: *starts beatboxing while Daemon sings*
He is the last of the dragonlords of old
This scene gives me chills… Matt is a great great singer!! Omg!!! 😮 😮 😮
This guy never gets scared
Wow...Prūmysa Sōvili
The delivery of that second to last part, with the music. It's one of the highlights of the entire season for me.
He has a beautiful voice and that dragon is gorgeous
This was just beautiful.
Thank you for adding the CC. Not just so the song could be translated, but also for the deaf. My husband is partially deaf, and it means a lot to him when people care enough to add captions.
This was the most Daemon Targaryen scene of Daemon Targaryen scenes.
I love the soundtrack of both HotD & GoT, but here I love it ESPECIALLY. Usually the score for a TV show or a movie is written and recorded after post-production at the final stages of its production, so the idea of the composer to fit the background music at 1:33 with what Matt is singing so it sounds as an accompanying harmonious background to his voice is genius. As a musician myself who sometimes works as a movie score orchestra player, my experience makes me doubt this was pre-planned and I do believe it's a really good catch by the composer. Ramin Djawadi is the best!!!
Vermithor is pleased with the song
Imagine lucerys have claimed vermithor we could've seen vhagar vs vermithor
Battle of heavyweights
You will when he, Tessarion and Vhagar fight.
@@blacktigerpaw1 Vhagar didn't fight Vermithor?
There was a battle between Vermithor, Sea Smoke, and Tessarion, if you're referring to that one.
@@pankratos5017 Yes, you are right. I confused the two with Sunfyre.
Just wait
@@pankratos5017 thats a long time after the death of vhagar i think??
this scene should have been the only trailer for this season. We would have needed nothing else.
I love how vermithor spreads flame singing alongside daemon. At least that's how I took the scene.
Daemon is definitely the closest to a dragon in the Targaryen family. The bro pretty much speaks dragon and isn't scared of them in the slightest.
This will be in a loop for 2 years ♥
1:08 everyone always talks about vhagar in the next scene but this shot of vermithor rearing up in the shadows is honestly terrifying, such a great choice
