Everyone should be respected, including the land. No one owns any land really, we are all passing through. I’m not sure generalizations like white man is that and aboriginals are that get us anywhere. We need to acknowledge history in the unfortunate context that it was and be as constructive as possible in addressing issues such as equality of access to healthcare, education and opportunity generally. People of various different categories have been bullied over history. No form of bullying or discrimination (i.e. negative generalization assumed to apply to the specific) from whatever the source and whatever the target, is justified or should be given credence. Resentment also does not justify generalizations, cruelty and bullying. Two wrongs do not make a right. I send my thoughts with love. I mean no malice.

      @anthonymorris5084 2 года назад

@don't be silly Attacking me solves nothing. Nowhere have I claimed to be a victim. Australian aboriginals arrived in Australia 70,000 years ago. So, should we realign every border across the globe based on 70,000 years ago and/or the principle of terra nullius? It's unworkable and you know it.
Secondly, you're viewing this from a 21st century perspective and a 21st century map. The aboriginals did not occupy every square inch of what today we call Australia. So how do they own the entire continent? You step onto the coast and because there is no water division the whole land mass is suddenly yours? Even in 1900 the entire population of the continent of Australia was only 4 million people. History demonstrates that before the concept of the nation state you owned what you occupied and could defend. The aboriginals like much of the world had no concept of borders or statehood. The concept of the nation state was born in Europe and has served humanity quite well.
I also can't help but ask, would you have preferred a different colonizer? Perhaps the Islamic world? Maybe China or an African war lord? Australia, by any measurement is one of the most successful countries in the world. This is solely due to the Anglo people and their cultural values. If you find this truth uncomfortable I can't help that.

Agreed. Everybody should be allowed to climb it.
The bodies of indigenous people who have passed on are buried around the rock but climbing it doesn't disturb them at all.
Whoever these people are that are saying no-one should climb it are damn selfish!

Moral point is, religious or not, Uluru is a cultural site by the Aboriginal community and that should be respected.

Sorry to inform you, but they're 2 very different landmarks, in 2 very different countries.
The French government might allow you to enter the age old cathedral.
The Australian government on behalf of Aboriginal people have restricted access to Uluru. As it is a sacred place.

@@Royal_BloodLust and so is a cathedral
There is no difference in sacredness
Personally I don't want that rock climbed to protect it from vandalism and erosion and to keep it as beautiful as possible
All I was saying was - that erosion thing aside - if we can morally enter a place of worship for reasons other than prayer like Notre Dame or whatever so too can we do tours around Uluru and the grand canyon and elsewhere in the world
      No double standards
      That's all I'm saying
Those caves will still be entered and enjoyed by Aborigines and non Aborigines alike
Only restrictions should be to minimise erosion and damage

      Nothing racist whatsoever
If I am a racist I must hate half myself mustn't i eh?

I'm sure that if by chance underneath Uluru there was such a rich orebody that it may as well be gold bullion buried under the surface, the government would find a way to disregard all this touchy-feely PC BS and the elders would find some way to rationalise flattening the rock, as long as they got a cut of the action.

Looks like “Always was always will be aboriginal land” is no more than a politically correct, yet empty slogan, and even the shouters themselves don’t necessarily know what does it actually mean. If this land remains aboriginal, does that mean the aboriginal people have right to decide who can stay on their land? It’s just like if they are the owner of a house, they should at least have right to decide who can stay in their house,no? So if you are non aboriginal and your house is built on aboriginal land, does the local aboriginal community have right to ask you to move away? Because it wouldn’t make sense if this land remains aboriginal yet non aboriginal people have better claim to it, no? Or would you refer to the laws (which was established by European settlers to serve the interests of the settlers of colonies in the first place) to defend your legal right to continue occupying the so called aboriginal land where your house is standing upon? If that is the case, how would you be different from those who you are accusing? It seems the non aboriginal aboriginal rights activists‘ ethical standards are very flexible too, when they need to show their moral superiority, they are more than glad to shout “This continent always was always will be aboriginal land“, yet they wouldn’t hesitate to use a decision made by the high court(which was established by European settlers and make judgment according to laws made by European settlers) to justify their personal occupation of aboriginal land…it all depends on what suits their personal needs, and by doing that, they have revealed their true face, that they are the successors of European settlers just like everyone else, whose personal interests rely on continue occupying and exploiting this (de facto former, no matter how it is defined on legal documents) aboriginal land, who are only wearing a mask of the protester and accuser of western colonialism, and we call this type of people hypocrites🫤
