Another fabulous picture of traveling and enjoying the outback. Will share a picture later of me on (in the 1960s Ayers Rick). Very happily to see the respect now given to the Aboriginal People and their culture. Back then these people were not even counted in the census. Looking forward to your rail adventure.

I haven’t completely watched the first part, but I do look forward to watching the second part after having finished watching the first. When I think of equivalents to what within Mainland Australia is the Outback, but in the Americas, I think of the Bolivian salt flats, much of Montana and Wyoming, and huge parts of Northern Ontario (particularly those well off the beaten path, and if not within Sudbury, Sault Ste. Marie, Thunder Bay or the small town of Kenora) for starters.

Stunning episode, well done K and N. It can't be emphasised enough that a trip like this requires permits, as mentioned. You can't just drive into Aboriginal land and communities without them. Many communities are actually totally off limits. And Fun Fact... the camels were mostly brought over to help build the railways through the outback and the cameleers that came with them were called Afghans, even though they were from all over the Middle East and the Indian subcontinent. That's where you get The Ghan, the famous outback train. Many of the cameleers were also the first Muslims in Australia and their descendents are still around today. The camels are now the only wild camels left in the world and they fetch huge prices if shipped back to the Middle East.

Hi Kara and Nate! When driving on dirt roads you will have noticed the corrugations. The accepted wisdom is that you either go really slowly and gently go through each dip or, you go really fast and try to skip from peak to peak. There are so many dirt roads in Australia that in the early 1960's there was a famous incident when an Australian rally driver was driving in Europe. His French navigator kept telling him to go faster on the paved roads. When they got to the dirt they did not slow down as this was the Aussie's wheelhouse. He was awaiting instructions but none came. He looked over and the Frenchman was cowering under the seat. He was not used to dirt roads being driven on that fast... Enjoying the series!!!

I am so full of admiration for your sense of adventure and your humour. You have experienced something that 99.9% of Australians will never see. And you have given many armchair adventurers a little taste of what this vast land is like beyond the populated cities and towns that hug its fringes.

Okay this has made my day and my heart so full. So happy you were able to meet so many people on your journey to Australia’s most remote town. I’m from AZ and every time I’m in the desert I wonder what it’s like compared to the Outback but the Outback is just so much more vast. I had NO idea there were camels in Australia. This is so epic, thank you for sharing. Omg grub hunting, amazing art and amazing people!

Hi Kara, you were amazed at the stars. Thanks for saying that. I visited the outback some years ago, and I was also impressed with the sky. It's the only time that I can remember really seeing the sky with no light pollution.

I live in Western Australia, and it makes me beyond happy to see you coming here! I highly recommend exploring Karijini and Kununurra for their amazing gorges and waterholes, as well as coming down the west coast through Exmouth, Shark Bay, down to Perth, Margaret River, and Esperance for an amazing coast! If you wanted to explore further, travelling along the East Coast of Australia and hiking the Overland Track in Tasmania is amazing too! 😃

Please visit all the islands you can around the world. It’d be interesting to get a video about less known places and get a glimpse of their life like St. Helena island in the Atlantic or Tristan de Cunha or even my home island of Guam. So many places around the world that are lesser known but deserve exposure.

Hey guys! What people in North America and Europe may not realize is that Australia is emerging from winter and entering spring. So,...cooold nights! And I had no idea that camels were a thing in Oz?! As a child of the Seventies, way to navigate old-school. Paper maps and road signs have successfully made the world go round for centuries. Thanks for the Better Help ad, after 28 years of living with it, I'm Stage 4, and you are one of two YT channeIs I travel vicariously through. From the bottom of my heart, Thank You!💕 And yes, apparently, feral cats are HUGE & terrifying.

I'm sitting here more than a day after watching this originally and thinking about how excited I am for an Australia series. Cannot wait to see more. Read Bill Bryson's "In A Sunburned Country" several years ago and have reread it multiple times since, and it lit a fire in me to see this amazing country before I die.

@@jenniferlawrence1372 g'day Jennifer 😊 that's awesome. I reckon you'll enjoy yourself. There's heaps to see and do. I'm not sure if you love seeing the universe at night but once you get a few hours from the coast the night sky is incredible. Because there is not much development out there there is very little light pollution and the stars, moons ,planets ECT seem to be infinite. They are literally like bright specs of dust . When the weather is good they go on forever. Anyway have a great day mate and I hope you enjoy Australia when you come here

Because sometimes you just want to prove that Wi-Fi isn't the only thing that connects people and this is a very big proof. It's like an adventure where your phone's signal strength is directly proportional to your GPS confusion, and 'local cuisine' might involve ingredients you've never heard of. I had fun watching this and it inspires me to travel and go deeper more as I visited countries for our TV show.
