Who are Kara and Nate?!
Watch our documentary here: • 100th COUNTRY DOCUMENTARY
Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married 2013 and were super “normal.” I was a teacher and Nate started a small printing business from the spare bedroom of our apartment.
We discovered the world of “travel hacking” while planning our honeymoon & became addicted ;)
So after 2 years of obsessively saving $35k and over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left home January 10, 2016 for a “one year” trip around the world.
Our goal was to see as many places as possible before we ran out of money and went back home to “normal life.” We started this channel to share our experiences with friends and family, but quickly fell in love with living on the road and found a new passion for capturing our travels through video. So we did everything we could to keep going.
4 years later, we achieved our new goal of visiting 100 countries and all 7 continents. We had no plans to slow down, until 2020 forced us to ;) Which is when we bought a converted van to start exploring our own country for the first time!
After ~2 years of van life, we are back to full time international traveling! And now we are finding the best adventures the world has to offer :)
We are incredibly grateful to be able to continue doing something we love every day. 😊🎥🌎 Thank you to everyone who has been a part of our journey!
0:00 82 hours from Perth to Sydney!
2:00 day 1: our room tour
6:15 2,700 mile journey begins!
8:50 our first meal onboard
9:40 What is the Indian Pacific?
11:24 Day 2: first stop in Cook
17:01 Day 3: Adelaide meet up :)
22:42 Day 4: Blue Mountains
26:10 Bloopers :)
Nate's running friend was such a natural on camera, I loved her vibe!
Seriously, if she made a RUclips channel I’d probably watch it!
Maybe Nate should do more events like this if they ever return to Vermont or New Hampshire I will buy Kara a coffee
Also model level beautiful 💁♀️😊
Total rocket.
She was tryna get it 😂
Okay, Kara and Nate squished together for a nap on that tiny train couch is the cutest thing ever. The affection you both have for each other is very lovely and really shines in moments like these.🥰
If the Australians replaced the track this fun journey would be much faster, 2 days at most, great scenery, everyone should try this✌️❤️🇬🇧
Okay but squished naps on occasion are the best
I love the idea of this “international running club” and Kara’s coffee meetups! Gives a bunch of fans opportunities to potentially meet you wherever you are anywhere in the world!
Potentially risky though right? I would hate for some weirdo to come along and be all weird. Btw when's the next one?
@@michaelburn2227the satire in your comment made me low key laugh. I once ran into a RUclips famous couple (NOT Kara and Nate, unfortunately) and decided to let them live a normal life. I decided not to stop them for a greeting. If it was Kara and Nate I’d definitely be the annoying fan who wouldn’t leave them alone for a few hours!
The international running club needs a better name. Maybe The Globetrotters?
Nate and his running friend had such good chemistry! Good for them. She even got Nate to open up a bit!
hes married why would you say that
@@natalieradforde I said they had a good connection, nothing wrong with that, people need more connections in the world! Doesn’t always have to be romantic
@@natalieradfordeguys and girls can get along lmao
Erin reminded me of that girl in NYC who goes on runs with people and interviews them as she runs. I’m so glad someone was able to join Nate on the run with only 1 hour warning.
I would definitely have to be in the Kara crowd cause I don't want to die on camera and ruin the video.
I did this in 2002.
@@randyward2766😂😂
@randyward2766 same lmao 🤣
Yes, go Erin! Thanks for making Adelaidians look good 😍
Another excellent video with 27 minutes very well spent...
Keep up the excellent work! A hug from Portugal 🇵🇹
amigo vejo o teu canal e o deles á algum tempo. e faz sentido que seja assim, temos bom gosto.
We Brazilians also love watching your videos and also Kara and Nate's videos!
Nate bringing Kara coffee in the morning gets me every single time! So sweet to see that tradition in so many different places around the world 💛
It just for a video.
This video has an entirely different feel to all your others!
Less polished, more natural, more enjoyable to watch. 200% genuine!
Really saw just how much you were relaxing and enjoying yourselves!!!
I feel like it was more old school and I love it. Don't get me wrong The polished travel vlogs are great and everything but I kind of miss the more natural feel of Nate and Kara not trying too hard.
Yes, this was more 2017 k&n vibe
The most important thing in life is to learn how to give out love, and to let it come in.
I absolutely laughed out loud at Nate’s reaction to Kara saying the Adelaide coffee meet up with her favorite coffee day ever!😂
Between Kara and Nate napping together, Kara having coffee with ppl, and Nate starting the "International Running Club" this vlog is too stinkin friggin ADORABLE!🥺
The “wet bath” and water shoes segment was so good 🤣
The building of the standard gauge line from Sydney to Perth was necessary to keep Australia unified. Western Australia was becoming a wealthy state in the 1960s due to iron ore extraction, and so the building of a continuous line across the continent guaranteed Australia didn't split into two nations. It was a similar situation to building the line across Canada in the 1800s. When I travelled across the Nullabor years ago, I found my eyes could focus on just one thing - the horizon. There was nothing else to look at.
The standard gauge line from Adelaide to Kalgoorlie was built in the 1920's to keep WA in the commonwealth, it was a sort of bribe to get them to join us. The standard gauge from Kalgoorlie to Perth, and from Port Augusta to Broken Hill which completed the link was done in the 60's so that a simple single gauge train could do the trip from Indian to Pacific Oceans. My Grandparents did the trip in the 30's and had to change trains at Albury, Melbourne, Bordertown, Adelaide, Port Augusta, Kalgoorlie to get to Perth, and then do all that in reverse.
WA has a persistent minority that wants to succeed from the Commonwealth and periodically makes a noise about it, something to do with mining royalties and excessively wealthy individuals feeling hard done by.
Your videos are the equivalent to Saturday cartoons as a kid! I get up with so much anticipation to watch!! Love you guys 😃❤️
Wayyyyyyyyyy better than cartoons.
@@bearin29 Sorry did you have a bad childhood? It's basically impossible to recreate that feeling you had as a kid getting up on Saturday morning to watch cartoons.. 🤷♂
@@George2647g Then you've never travelled with the love of your life and had incredibly unforgettable moments that you will remember forever and hold so close to your heart. Fortunately, those moments do, indeed, take the Lifetime Achievement Award and replace the absolute shit, not bad, childhood.
Kara, can you confirm or deny that YOU were the editor on the Australian train video? 🤣😂 Husband and I are over here absolutely howling! Such a great video! Reminds us of the good ol Kara and Nate days. Not just the train adventure, but the humor and rawness of the film. Love love love this one!!! #wetbath
💛🌲 Love Suzie in Seattle
I absolutely LOVE everyone bringing their babies to see Kara 😂 hilarious
Good to see that you enjoyed the train ride across the width of my glorious country guys. If you wandering what the song was that the musician was singing before you embarked in Perth, it is an Aussie classic called Home Among The Gumtrees.
I’m watching you guys since 2017 and this Australia series reminds me so much of your older videos. Just you two exploring new places and foods and accommodations and I’m so happy ❤❤❤
Please keep making more videos like these 🎉🎉🎉
Was thinking the same! I much preferred their channel when they were actually travel vlogging rather than doing challenges, etc.
Absolutely loved this episode. ❤
@@leechafertravels agreed. More travel vlogs would be great. I mean, I still watch the challenges because it’s them and stuff like the CT, Ragbrai or van life in general is also super fun to watch.
I would love for them to go to Germany, for real this time. I hate the fact that they only cared about Oktoberfest. The rest of Germany hates Bavaria 😂😂
My favourite notification ever is that Kara and Nate have uploaded a new video!!
I'm turning notifications on! I feel cheated.
Right! I completely agree!❤❤❤
I have been known to stop watching another person's channel ,when I get the notification that Kara and Nate have uploaded a new video!😊
That’s pretty sad in all honesty.
Saaaaaaaaaaaaaaame❤
Kara & Nate as an Aussie I just loved your Australian journey through your well travelled eyes! Thank you for showing how layback, friendly & cool we are!! 💜💙🤗🇦🇺🍻🍻
I love you guys. I laughed so hard when Nate said "what kind of train do you think this is?" And the look on Kara's face when Nate asked "I thought you said you were so full you couldn't eat another thing?" And when he jokingly said "do you want a brownie?" and of course Kara took them to eat one. You guys are awesome. I love how much you guys know each other and love each other and just love life. You are truly an inspiration to so many people. And great entertainment for millions of people. God bless you both and I hope you never stop loving life the way you do. And by the way... I think what Nate shared on his run was nice to hear. I know you guys are absolutely amazing at staying positive and happy and enjoying the moment no matter what you are doing. It was nice to get to know a little more about at least his fear and one of the reasons why you are doing what you are doing. I am extremely jealous and envious of your lives. I would give anything to be able to do what you do. You both are extremely blessed.
You guys make every single Saturday 100 times better
First video I look up after making coffee, crawl back in bed and live vicariously through their beautiful videos!😊
For real!
I love waking up on a sunday morning, making a coffee and watching these guys. Sometimes if I'm super keen for a video I'll wait up in the early hours after midnight Saturday night and watch it!
What is the map app?
Same here! 👌😉💞
I've discovered you guys about a year and a half ago (the YT algorithm can be a good thing sometimes), started watching from the beginning last May and finally caught up 2 days ago, 900 vids later. What a journey it was! You are both amazing human beings and a wonderful couple and getting to see your incredible adventure was and still is a great pleasure. Thank you for all those vids and hopefully for many more to come!
Oh, and I'm pretty excited about last week's spoiler, I'm really rooting for you completing your 50 state goal :)
That was quite an adventure, I'm sure!
Wow you’ve done well to watch from then beginning. I found them early on in the pandemic when we had our first lockdown in SEQ and was hooked after a few episodes. I have watched about a dozen of their early videos, maybe more, but haven’t managed what you have accomplished.
What's ur tag on Zonder?
If you dissolve instant coffee in a small amount of cold water first, then dilute to your preferred strength with hot water, the beans won't "burn".
Makes it taste much better!
I was one of the people at Kara's coffee date! Got there with 30 mins notice and it was amazing! Kara, you're a true gem ❤
I just love how goofy and true Kara and Nate are! The giggles had me rolling!!
If my relationship isn't like Nate and Kara's, I don't want it
I’ve been watching you guys for years now and it’s been so nice seeing you here in Aus! You’re the only RUclipsrs I wait for every week and watch from start to finish! Thank you both for being my sweet escape every Sunday night! ❤️
The best Saturday mornings used to be spent with cartoons and cereal. Not anymore, now it’s Kara and Nate, world travel, and, maybe, a mimosa, I mean coffee. 🥰
This international running club is such a great idea. I so hope theres more of these meet ups in your videos. Loved this!
Thank you for this fun, easy video. Your cinematography is so amazing in your other videos, it’s fun to see something a little less polished and more of you both laughing, just having fun and goofy. And thank you, Kara for finally getting rid of your all-black wardrobe. Such a breath of fresh air!
BEST EPISODE EVER!!! Those jokes and laughter were sooo infectious! 😂😂😂😂 thanks for bringing and showing us the real true Nate and Kara
I love that Kara and nate can have different paths like nate having a fan/friend interested in running and kate having people who like coffee shops and chatting.
This made me smile. I love sleep deprived Kara and Nate. So funny.
I love how Nate always brings Kara coffee in the mornings
That’s so thoughtful
Love watching you guys 💕
I just left Australia a few weeks ago and I've been so busy I've barely had a chance to miss it. This video was a great and terrible reminder how homesick I am for Aussie life. I'm glad you enjoyed your time there, the people and the views are the best things there.
The meet ups with friends of the channel has been my favorite thing in a long time. I often wondered how often Kara and Nate have to stop to say hello to folks like me that watch the adventures every week.
Also, you guys have singularly convinced me that train travel is a must. You make it look so fun!
I train travelled from Venice to Sicily and it was amazing just don't pack heavy 🤣
So amazing to see you visited my hometown of Adelaide! You’ve inspired me in so many ways that I’m currently on a six-month travel trip. Thank you Kara and Nate for your inspiration and positivity ❤
Your pronunciation of Kalgoorlie was perfect!
I was born in Perth and spent the first 10 odd years in a town 30 mins south of Kalgoorlie and made frequent visits there as well.
I am so proud. 😊
I am also loving this video. Bringing back so many memories. Decades ago my grandparents made a trip on the train and my family visited them during their stopover in Kalgoorlie. It was amazing.
Never doubted it for a second but Kara getting those brownies from the cooks just confirms even more how nice these two actually are outside of video
I love living in Australia 🇦🇺- the dessert the coastlines the tropical forests and the gorges and drought plains - not to mention our native wildlife xx there is such a broadness of the landscapes all in one country….it’s beautiful ❤ yay for loving Vegemite and for not eating our kangas ❤❤
*desert
Kara is now a honorary Aussie with the amount of Vegemite she put on her toast 😂
Nate handled what could have been an unbelievably awkward social situation with a lot of class, so massive kudos for that.
Can't imagine what it would have been like if just one hunky guy had shown up to have coffee with Kara 😂😂
I had the worst day at work today so I'm super excited to watch this! Also super excited to watch as a West Aussie 😊 wish there was a chance for a meet and greet while you were here!
I tried to watch other RUclips channels and NOTHING compares to you two. Kara and Nate, thank you for ALWAYS making our day when you post a video!
I'm trying not to waste my life on RUclips anymore, but I definitely still come back to Kara and Nate. I save them for Sundays since that is when they used to come out. They are my weekly treat.
I remember the first video I ever saw of you guys was when you were staying in the capsule hotel pods in the Singapore airport. I was in sixth grade and it was during COVID. Now I am a sophomore in highschool and I find myself waking up every Saturday morning waiting to see if you guys have posted your next video. And if you haven't, I rewatch your other videos instead. I love your channel so much and I've tried to watch so many other vlogger youtubers but you guys and Eamon and Bec's channels are always the ones I go back to. Kara's energy is so positive and comforting and Nate just seems so genuine and sweet. You guys do some of the most wild things yet you guys are still so relatable and real. Thank you for curing my boredom every Saturday thank you for the amazing videos.:)))))
Y'all are so adorable! I love your humor, the fact that everything is the best you ever tasted, experienced or saw, your sarcasm, your wholesomeness, your love and kindness for others, the way you keep everything classy and the way that your joy just radiates through my screen!
I like Sarcastic Kara and Nate. It feels like a glimpse into your highschool banter.
hi kara and nate!!! i loved seeing your exploration of australia and all the fun and sillies you had in this series! it absolutely made my year meeting you both at central station 💗 i hope you come back soon!! 💗 love, milo
I thoroughly enjoyed the whole Australian experience with Kara and Nate. Thanks for sharing your adventures! The run and coffee time was awesome! 💞
My favorite channel to watch on a Saturday morning. From dreaming the dream to living the dream. Love you guys.
In Australia we are watching this on Sunday morning.
Kara's and Nate's free spirit is incredibly unmatchable like you guys have embarked on the best travel experiences and continuing to do so. ❤❤❤
I love how much laughter you guys were having on this trip! You were having so much fun and just being you! ❤
I’m from Perth and have always wanted to go on this train! Going past bells rapids (that water as you leave Perth in the hills) and kalgoorlie where I used to live just hits home for me. Love it. Can’t wait to do this!
Perth is a beautiful city. Maybe you will see it at another time.
We did a 28 day cruise around the continent of Australia. It was awesome. So many cool cities that we never heard of and would do it again.
Enjoy the train trip
It's so cool to see such familiar landscapes on your channel. Australia rocks.
I loved when Kara said "and more babies!" It was so cute and wholesome !❤
I've been watching you guys for multiple years now since you two posted the trip to Jerusalem, and I can proudly say I've watched atleast 95% of the videos you posted, if not all of them;
but this one had such a warm and authentic feeling in it like no other video did. Your guys videos never fail to disappoint but this one felt so calm, corny and humorous!!
I loveddddd the vibe we got to experience this trip, Love from Israel!
Hey they thrive in our Aussie relaxed, easy going life style. Please come back we love you❤.
Getting my kara and nate fix, you guys make me smile, and I don't have much to smile about lately! You make us laugh, always show the good, bad and ugly, and give us real entertainment! Stay well and safe ! Loving your videos , still watching from the beginning again!
Back in 1986, I drove from from Perth to Adelaide in 2 days! Left Perth around 3/3.30am and got to the border at 8.30p. The about 12 hours to Adelaide, after leaving at 5.30a Glad you love my home country!
Cool story. 😅
I love how nate was sprinting for the train and almost had a big dramatic fall 😂 love u guys im a big fan
Love the hysterical laugh at the end. Totally authentic and makes us well right there with ya!
That was a fabulous journey once again. I love how we all get to see the world through your experiences. Tired Kara is priceless.
I feel like you are both being more natural and jokey in your recent videos, I LOVE it! ❤
It’s so cool seeing Kara and Nate explore where I live!! The scenic world railway is way scarier than any roller coaster I’ve ever been on, especially if you put it on the “adventurous” mode haha
Awesome!!! I will never get there but you two took me there!! Just amazing!! Kara laughing at the end was the best!!
This video was definitely one of my favorites! I really don't comment/rate etc. much, but really enjoyed this one. It was interesting, funny and felt genuine... loved it!
Great video as always. The reverse motion sickness Nate was talking about is totally relatable. Everytime we are on our boat and it's wavey I go to bed and feel like I'm still moving. Also interesting facts about the Blue Mountains so beautiful.
The over-tired laughing outtakes always crack me up!
It’s hard to start and stop a Nate and Kara video. Once you start you are hooked for the next 30 mins or so. Love ❤it.
I haven't laughed this much in ages... kara is almost delirious first thing... and then the brownies 😂❤ kara you are adorable, don't ever change x
Fantastic video!!! It’s always a nice thing to see how many different trains you’ve traveled on across the world and this one was definitely another amazing and beautiful experience to have there in Australia!!! Also when you were talking about the different trains you’ve rode on, in the US it was actually Amtrak’s *Coast Starlight* from Los Angeles, California to Seattle, Washington I believe you rode on, not the California Zephyr which *Fun Fact:* Actually runs from the San Francisco Bay Area of California to Chicago, Illinois. Just thought I’d point that little detail out. I really enjoy watching the variety of videos you guys have posted on your channel especially when it comes to these ones about rail travel!!! This was awesome to see with all the beautiful landscapes of Australia while on the train and the World’s Steepest Railroad too!!! Well done, cheers and keep up the great work!!! :) ❤️❤️🚂
I've learnt more about my own country watching you guys than what was taught in school. ❤
Enjoying this Australia vlog guys ….I know I will never get to travel that far so to see and experience travel through your vlogs is a weekly highlight. ❤
14hrs non stop LA to Australia on Qantas. Never give up any travel experience. To see how other people live and enjoy other cultures is truly life changing. 👍
Yep, it takes time to get your land legs back Nate. That's the reverse motion sickness. Thank you both for sharing this great adventure with us. Always so fun, informative, often breathtaking and inspirational. Stay safe and God bless.
That "button-b-roll" portion might be the funniest clip on your channel (and there's a lot of great contenders). That was absolutely hilarious! 🤣
how i know this relationship is gonna last was when nate came with coffe in the morning, thats pure luuve
Watching your video first thing every Saturday is a curse and a blessing! I have so much fun watching it and then realize I have to wait a week for the next one. 😅
Your fans are the absolute best if I do say so myself! I love how open and welcoming you guys are. Bless. I would meet up with Nate to run but I would really really slow him down.
after 7ish years, you two are still the most adorable. I love your videos! Love to see the world through your eyes!
Nate, you forgot the most important thing about the Blue mountains; they’re not actually mountains. It’s a canyon, with trees. You walk down to see them. Technically the highest point of those “mountains” is street level.
Just started watching the beginning, always love when they are sleep deprived that’s when it gets real real 😂
Tha fact that these guys keep making 10/10 videos Weekly! Is insane keep up the good work! ❤️🎉
I did this in the late 70s. I then emigrated to Australia. Love train travel. Nullarbor is amazing....basically no trees.
Loved this episode. I wish I had had you two along for a few times crossing the U.S. by train. Australia is gorgeous!
Thank you for the ride ❤
Just love you two! Living your best life and taking all of us along for the ride !! ❤
You guys were in my home! After so many years of watching you, it was actually amazing to see you film the Blue Mountains. Also loved that you both became a bit Australian with the sarcastic energy! 😂😂
You two have to be the happiest and most kind people I've ever seen in my life. And I love to see it ❤
Kara showing Nate how to really eat Vegemite was the best 😂
i’ve been watching y’all for 3 years!! you guys have helped me through a lot thank you so much for making vlogs and shorts!!❤❤
Love train journeys, Love Kara & Nate videos…what more can we ask for.😊
I had to look this up after you said that the Katoonaba scenic railway was the steepest angle train, and actually in Colorado Springs, there used to be the Mount Manitou incline, and it was steeper at one point.
I remember as a little kid when we were stationed in Colorado Springs, and our class went a couple times to take the incline train up the mountain and then we would hike down.
Here's some info I found on it:
What is the Incline? In brief, the Incline as it exists today is the roadbed to the former Mount Manitou Scenic Incline Railway - a cable car that took people up the eastern face of Rocky Mountain to about 8,600'. The steepest section is at a grade of 68% with the average grade just over 40%.
Today, it's a very steep hiking, where you go over 8,000 ft.
If you get to Colorado Springs, let us know, we'd be happy to show you around.
I left this video going and walked away from my phone … my 5 year old son picked it up and was glued !! he loved watching 😂
I love watching your videos!!! I love the content and your relationship to each other and the people you meet. I'm always excited to wake up on Saturday and see what you've been up to. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Loved this video. Next train adventure should be from Pretoria to Victoria Falls on Rovos Rail!!
Adelaide is my hometown but I’ve just moved overseas (and missing home), so it was very special to see Kara and Nate have such a great time there. Funnily enough, I watched this on a train! Haha
Watching Kara and Nate videos every week is so cosy, love the vibes! Keep up the great work ❤
dear Kara and Nate, I love watching your videos. They are honestly my favorite ever. I live in Adelaide and i am so so sad i missed you. I would honestly cry if I met you. Come back soon pleaseee! The problem is I live in the hills :(
I have always dreamed of taking a trip on a sleeper car ever since I was a little girl and watched “Some Like it Hot” with my grandmother, and realized for the first time that you could sleep on a train lol this is a whole other level though! ❤
Their train videos are some of my favorites.
