Omg man. I have been trying to do this on my '03 Tahoe but could not find a decent video. Thank god you have the same car.
Right this is actually a well explained video. I’ve been on a few of these now and the comments are full of bots praising the videos when they’re not good. This is getting saved so I can use it later
Thank you!
About to install one on my Sport Trac -- and this video is a tremendous help. Thank you for your clarity in speech, video editing, and steps. Really makes me much more comfortable tackling this.
I’ve been trying to figure out how to power the monitor easily. Perfect 👌 👍
I threw my truck in reverse to test the connection before plugging it up like you said and the truck backed into my pond. Thanks.
You should have been looking at the monitor then, shouldn't you 🙄 (lol).
aRe yOu oK?
so close to winning a Darwin award
🤣
Did it work in the pond?? 😂
i have watched other videos on this install and i couldn't understand what they were talking about, but you made it simple to understand. THANKS!!
Yeah right!!!
I just ordered the cam kit and your video will certainly assist me during the installation. Thanks!
Mind blown! Those wire caps and fuse thing are amazing!
Wow awesome job on the video. It made the job easier to do than I thought
Thanks! Glad we could help!
Thanks...it's quiet an easy tutorial.
Best instructional video I’ve found so far! Great job!
Great video, I am differently doing this. I have a ground next to my fuse box which I use for my dash cam...can I use the search ground nut to ground 2 wires...1 to my dash cam and 1 to the reverse. I want to use the same ground nut but worried about putting 2 wires to the same nut? Also how clear is the image quality??? Thanks
very nice , well done and not like others tearing down cables to solder. Keep up the good work.
Life saver. Broke it down Barney style. Thanks man!
Got one of these! Can’t wait to hook it up on my 2004 Silverado! Hoping it really helps with backing up to my camper
I wish you lived in my town man... Great job!
Thanks for the video, one more subscriber. Just bought the same exact kit, different box, and you were the first video to pop up.
I just got one of these just to find out my stereo has a place for the cam built into it so I never did use the display screen. but it was easy to hook up
Wow great video. Thanks for making and sharing with us 👍🏼
Thank you very much! Great video helped me install my camera. Look forward to seeing more from you. Thanks again.
Awesome! Thanks for watching!
Hi! I installed one of these after market camera with the video on the mirror type and I notice your also have the red wires coming out from the video wires, did you have to connect those to a power source in order for the system to work? I did my last night after watching your video and did not connect those red wired feeding from the video and it still works but the mirror is dark. Am I suppose to connect them red wires feeding from the video too? Thanks
I bought all the recommended parts and installed it successfully. Thanks for the video. However, the quick splices did not work the first time on either the ground or power connections. They made connection on the backup light side but not on the camera power harness side, so I ended up soldering a segment of thicker gauge wire onto the leads of the camera power harness wires. Then the quick splices made a good connection. I don't know if the splices are marginal or the gauge of the camera power wires got smaller or whatever, but I had 0% success using them on the power wires that come with the camera kit.
well, I am a total beginner at auto electric and proved that trying to hook this one up on my own w/o youtube. Thanks dad ! I'll test that thing with some more wire now that it's hooked up and see how to put the right colors on the right terminals hopefully and hopefully did not ruin the cam or monitor already ! Super helpful so thanks !
How to check screen direct before inst
Thank you for this video. Easy to follow along with. I did order from your shop.
Thanks!!!!!
ive bought 12 of these i saw ur vid and got excited hahahha
I appreciatate this video, I have this exact camera setup. that's my project for today
Really good video, just received mine from Amazon, ready to go....Thanks:)
Good video. Worth the watch if need to install one.
Excellent detailed review. Thank you very much.
@0:39, the wire on the bottom right, (the VGA I think), where do you plug the red wires that’s dangling from it?
Thanks
Great info! Thanks. Some cameras comes with rca yellow connector with red wire inside... where is connect this red wire?
I was following you so closely - till I saw the Pink Pliers! :-) just kidding, love the video and I subscribed!
My daughter keeps her work area pretty organized (sure didn't get that from me). If I can't find one of my tools I always know where her pink handled ones are! Thanks for watching and thanks for the sub!
In *that* case DIY Dad, this thumbs-up is for your daughter. 👍
Excellent video!
Curious if there is something like an SD card device to add to record?
Does the screen have the option to remove the bottom stand oration of it? Asking because I want to use my own mount. Thanks!
Thanks for sharing the video!
THANKS FOR THE VIDEO! Does the screen come off the stand? Meaning I can place it somewhere without the mounting piece for the dash?
Thanks. Your video is awesome. I can see other uses for this monitor and camera too.
Thank you, you’re my hero for the day!
Thanks!!
Thank you for your video. Now I have the needed information to finish this job.
Great!
Wow easier than i thought. Thank you
Nice vid. Helped out alot 👍
When you did the connection to the fuse panel did the camera itself have to be tapped into that power line which you grounded to the bolt
Did this. It works, it was easy and it's awesome.
Awesome!
Thanks for the video. I didn't quite understand the part about connecting the ground wire in the fuse box. Is the ground wire a part of the power cable to the display supplied in the kit?
Good instructions. Now, my truck gives a poor visualization of the back, when viewed through the optical rear mirror. If I want to have LCD on, all the time, when car running, so that I have a running electronic rear view mirror/LCD, how should I connect that red wire? Do I need to run another IGN wire from fuse box to the back for car? Also is the LCD bright enough to be viewed during day time? Thanks,
Great video. Ordered from the link.
Good video. Explained nicely.
I have a very similar kit, i see the yellow video wire also has a red wire coming off of it, do I need to connect that to the reverse as well? I'm a little confused to its function because its on both sides of the video wire. (its also on yours at 0:43)
BIG THUMBS UP FRIEND THANKS A LOT
Thank you so much, just subscribed!!!!!!
Looking for an easier camera? Check our video about a completely wireless backup camera: ruclips.net/video/F9--EkYHkkg/видео.html
what do the three little press buttons on the front monitor do i pressed them and do not see any change,
If I give you my number and you have time could you help me. I have something similar to what you bought but I'm trying to hook it up to my aftermarket double din radio
So far this is very helpful video, but i need to know where did you run the wire from the rear to the front? is it easy to run the wire on passenger side or driver side? I'm also installing the camera.
Do you do video/skype help sessions? I'm stuck after installing the camera to the license plate
Amazing tutorial! Defiantly subbed
The only thing I didn’t understand was where the cables from the camera went? Did it follow through where the wires are for the headlights and if so wouldn’t there still be expose wire on the end? If you answer Thank you!
Very informative thanks. I will do this too!!!
Can you advise? I got a backup camera as part of a dashcam for my friend. When. We were wiring it up it came with 2 additional cables for wiring into the reverse light & ground to activate the camera. I done that, I checked it several times with a multimeter and spliced into the correct cables. Then about 15 minutes later the reverse camera wires completely melted and fused together causing a short.
Any idea wtf happened? It was 100% wired to the correct ground and reverse light positive.
Great job. Very clear and concise.
Thanks and thanks for watching!
Honestly this really helped
I got a WD-403SY car wireless backup camera do u have any videos on how to hook up ?
I'm installing on a chevy express van. The licent plate is on the swinging door not center of the bumper. Do you think itll still work or should I attach to the bumper?
I personally would attach to the center bumper just for a better viewing angle
the video was very helpful, but it would be helpful to ( emphasize that the power wire to the backup light is the black/red stripe wire not the red wire as many people may think) You did mention it after watching the video a few times I picked up on it and switched the wires and it worked perfectly. Thanks!
Good tutorial, thanks.
Thank you so much. I wanted to see a video just like this one. You're giving me the confidence to finally getting a reverse camera. Sweet :)
My ignition fuse is 15amp. Can I use this same method but to my 10amp reverse lights fuse spot?
So it only comes on when it’s n reverse cuhz I thought my screen was broke but maybe it’s just not n reverse
Great! This helps.
Great video, Thanks
thanks for the vdo. So, could you help me how to install 12v back camera (general market) to the toyota factory head unit?
+thi boulom your head unit should have a video input on the back of it, the wiring in the. Acorns should be the same.
How did you get the camera wire from the outside to the inside cab? I got everything but that.
Thanks for the video.
I went through the grommet that the e-brake cable runs through.
Can I use the same set up and hook it into my stereo and see it on my screen?
I know it's been 10 months but I'm hoping you're still around and can tell me if those splicers you've used are still holding up. Your video is honestly one of the best and easiest but that'll depend if the blue things have held up.
Thanks really digged the pin out splice. OMW to homedepot.
Thank you help me out a lot I appreciate it good video
Nice job good info.
Very good video.Thanks
But what if the plate is located off center like on a van that has the plate mount located on the passenger swing door. Is there a way to center the camera under those circumstances
I thinking of getting the wireless but as you mentioned they don’t really work I will go with the wired one . Thanks the recommendation
Thanks great vid! Just a question...if the fuse tap is on the ignition it would power on the camera when the car is on....wouldn't it be better to put the fuse tap on the reverse fuse so it he screen powers on only when the car is put in reverse?
he wants it on all the time
Does this work for Honda crv?
Can you please tell me how to tilt the guidelines . I can’t seem to figure out how to tilt the guidelines on the monitor .
Excellent video
How do you connect the camera to stay on the whole time or with an on/off switch?
I may be overthinking this, but how does this system know how wide and how long of a vehicle it is mounted on? Is any calibration needed? I am asking because the camera that came with my new car leaves a safe buffer on all sides for my car. So if this system thinks it is leaving a safe buffer on something like a chevy spark, that safe buffer won't apply to a chevy tahoe without calibrating, right?
Great confidence booster for me although I'm in🇬🇧 thanks
AWESOME I need one please where can I get this kit
is it possible to just use that monitor to playback whats on the after market radio instead of camera?
One question:
Instead of using add a circuit, can't we just add another quick splice onto the reverse light and use that as a power source for the display screen front? so two quick splice and use it power backup camera and display screen?
Did you ever try this? I'm about to install a camera on my car and had that same question?
Thank you for your efforts, so nice video. January 2018
Good discription thanks for youre effort!
Thanks!
Thanks you made it sound really straight forward...
Thanks! Glad we could help you out!
How would I know whether I need the other 2 parts or not?
😳 pink pliers? Whaaaaaat
Video is awesome! 😎
Stolen from my daughters pink tool set.... her tools are WAY more organized.
Good job thank you for the video
Awesome video. So you didn't use the cigarette adapter that came with it and tapped the ignition correct. I just got one myself that I am going to install today
Nice. I clicked the link to buy the camera. Unfortunately it's not available now. Any other you could recommend.?..thanks.
that was a pretty good video, you sure made it look easy.
+al dee thanks!
What do you do with the red wire attached to the RCA cable
I had just did it today and the monitor didn’t display . I have 1 question about the short red wire at the yellow plug monitor, where to connect this short red wire
Great video! Going to buy one through you in amazon.
Great! Thanks for supporting the channel!
DoItYourselfDad Your welcome! Nice channel. I was reading reviews on Amazon, all great! Some said they were using sealer around the camera?
I haven't had any water get in yet, though I live in the dessert so we don't get a lot of rain. It has been through the car wash several times without issue. I suppose it couldn't hurt though.
