Not really! The red and black wires are for a continuous power supply incase your head unit allows you to view camera while not in reverse! If it doesn't, you don't even need to connect that pigtail! All you need is the video plug and to run that single wire to the reverse light posative!
john coburn basically find positive from the back of the radio and the ground. Connect them to the camera power. Connect the camera plugs and that is it
Thank you . Seriously.... I've watched multiple videos on install reversing cameras . They either started off saying one thing and changed half way through or the relative of the village idiot came on . Watched yours clear easy simple instructions. Had it installed within minutes

Got my backup camera working finally in my 2010 tacoma. the factory one didn't work with the pioneer nex 1400 stereo. I bought a $15 cam from walmart & it still didn't work. I bought another $15 cam today from walmart & this one worked !
I’m pretty sure the C6 never had a backup camera across any spec for the generation, so it would be impossible to install a factory backup camera that never existed. And if you meant to factory radio it doesn’t got the input connections for it sense they never had a back up camera for the generation.
Ok I have a Kenwood DDX model with the camera button so I need to run separate purple wire from the reverse trigger wire? And then the red wire from the camera connects to the red from wire harness? And of course need to tap into the ground wire.
The RCA female and red power female plug started off the same point , but the RCA red wire is much shorter than the power red-black wire , so how does the 3 touch together ? Extend the RCA red wire ? Or splice into the beginning of red-black power wire to connect the RCA red wire , then splice again at the end into the reverse light power.
The RED wire that is along with your yellow to your devise I split in the middle and from there I connected the other one kind of like a "T" if you understand I hope you do you'll get it
I’ve recently followed your video I have a canbus box on my caddy but camera wouldn’t trigger any ideas? Camera leds wouldn’t light up so I’m guessing no power but the reverse on the head unit was working fine just no signal to the camera
I bought the 07 to 14 Tahoe Phoenix automotive radio. The only wire that I can hook to is a blue wire for an amp and a brown wire for a break. Do I hook it to the brake wire
Can you advise what the reverse trigger wire is? My unit doesn't bring up my camera. Truck wasn't factory wired for one so no stock reverse wire. I have my reverse positive wire tapped just need to know what to tap on the headunit. 13.6 px6 tundra 2010
Kyle Bechtold I talked about this. How to install a Backup Camera Any Toyota Camry 2012-2013-2014 - Step by Step (Problems are Fixed) You don’t need trigger from rear light
I know your post is about 5 months old, however, when hooking up this camera, the Reverse Trigger wire is the power wire running to you reverse light in your tail lights. This is the white reverse lights not the red break lights or the yellow turn signals.. So when you put your car in reverse, the white lights shine so you can see when backing up. You will need to tap into the wire that runs to that bulb For most of my cars it is a green power wire and a black ground wire. That will send a signal to your camera when you put it in reverse.
I have a stock toyota corolla touch screen deck. I dont have the yellow rca plug behind my deck to connect but i see other ppl able to install camera anyways. Is there some type of adpater for my stereo? Please lmk
Now for us complete novices who’ve never done something like this but want to, can you make another video actually going through each step? Also, walk through the connections for setting up the camera to be used as a front camera.
Hello Can you advise if the black is always going to be ground and red power? i am trying to connect the camera to a kia forte 2015 brake light and there is a black red and green wire Thanks in advance
@@caligaming9386 That’s if you want the LED’s on the camera to burn ALL OF THE TIME. The red plug at the camera is only to power the LED’s. The camera itself gets power from the yellow plug at the radio. This is why the “convenience wire” was added later. So you could view the camera (if radio has the option inside of it ) without the LED’s burning all of the time . When you tie in the “convenience wire at the tail light “? That just signals the radio to show the view without hitting the button in the radio . And turns it on when hitting reverse. This is NEVER explained in videos. The RED AND BLACK ON THE PLUG AT THE TAILLIGHT “? It’s only powering the LED’s in the camera. The camera gets power (because it also has a positive & negative ran inside of a single plug ) from the yellow plug at the radio/head piece. I bought a px6 for my 2006 lexus is 250 I has the navigation system and back up camera so I want to keep my OEM back up camera can you tell me how can I do that
So on my aftermarket radio it came with a camera but none of the spots on the harness has a spot for it. What else would I be able to hook it up to for the power? Can I hook it up to a accessory (key on power) on the harness ao when I turn the key on it turns on the camera.
I connected everything as per the video as I connected the red "power" wire to the "back up" lights. I did that, because the "back up" lights only get power when the car is put into "reverse." Since I only want my rear view camera to work when my car is in "reverse," I thought that this is the logical way to do it. Well, I am getting a "No Video Signal" message on a black screen! Any advice?
Hi Thanks for your videos, very helpful. I bought this item and I fixed it. When I switch the reverse gear everything works fine but when I switch on (start engine) it shows two displays in the monitor, I mean two pictures running at same time in one monitor. Can you show a diagram how to fix this item please? Thanks. This is the item I am talking about: 360 Degree Bird View System 5" Monitor Auto Car Recording 4 Camera Panoramic | eBay
See that's what I thought I've hooked up back up cameras plenty of times before I got the RCA running with the red wire in it for the trigger and then I got the camera running off the other reverse light so I'm not drawing too much off the one cuz off the one it didn't want to work so I did it off the other one and just with the ground wire hooked up and the power wire unhooked just for the camera it was still trigger the radio to pop up the screen for the backup camera but if I hook up the ground for the camera it puts my amp into protect and it takes away the backup screen and then dims my backup lights how is that possible with just the ground wire hooked up for the camera and only the trigger wire hooked up for the radio soon as I plug that RCA in to the camera it does what it does and puts my amp into protect dims my lights and kicks the radio out of reverse
I installed a side camera and enabled the settings to show when right turn signal is activated but it doesn’t work. Do I need to get the camera power from the turn signal? If so will the camera turn on and off with the fluctuating signal light?
My back up sensors don't work when in reverse on this radio. WHEN I use my factory radio it does work. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated, do you know how to make the sensor part of the back up camera (car image with sensor feature) to work ?
Why is the red wire coming off that yellow RCA so short on the back end if it needs to go all the way to the reverse light? The power wire that's ajoined to the ground wire is nice and long, why is the other one not? They could have give us at least one meter...
