Oh man, I thank you soooooooooooooooo much! I've just bought a reverse camera for my car and you showed every step I needed to be clear about, especially passing those cables through the sills! Most other videos miss that bit out! You sir, are a master! Thank you once again!
Best instructional video ever..... Actually I really can't say ever... Cause I haven't seen every video.. but Iam so glad I happened to see your video... thanks for the step by step instructions.. Thanks.. now I feel that even a beginner as my self can install a rear view camera instead of paying someone else... Thanks for sharing
Awsum man.. Now I feel brave enough to do this.. I really appreciate u man. It takes lot of affort and hard work to make videos like this.. Keep this coming
When you connect the positive and negative to the the light bulb wires, do you also connect the other red wire as well to the same positive wire of the light bulb?
Excellent video and explanation, but my stereo does not have a “back” wire for the red wire from the video cable to connect to… Where do I connect the red wire that comes from the video cable in this case?
I love how some of these install vids make it seem a peice of cake... it depends on the car... I just added one to a ford focus 2003 wagon and it was a royal pain in the ass.. fishing wiring thru the rear door hatch, then thru the rubber accordian connector to the roof area was a no go... no way an rca connector is going thru that accordian passageway which already had thick wiring in it... had to snip off the rca from the video feed wire, pass it thru, then connect to backup light then rip up more body moldings to get that wire up ftont, then had to resolder to rca back on.... took me hrs and hrs... also recommend doing a dry run before committing to the install... hook everything up to test wiring and camera..make sure it triggeers on reverse and camera shows on screen... that way you dont committ to installing a defective camera or bad wiring and have to pull it all out again.... i;d probably just turn my head and look over my shoulder vs doing this nitemare again.
I've just enjoyed 2 of your postings; you are a funny guy and your content (headlights and reverse camera) is excellent. Good production values too. Great to see materials available in Australia rather than US/UK products. I'm hooked and have subscribed so more power to you!
Bravo!!! Excellent one. Nice and exact tutorial for the need. Will install similar camera and your video is the best one, shows precise the steps required for the installation. Greetings and big thanks from Bulgaria
wow... this video is what i need as diy project... really detail and reasonable instruction to follow... thanks may u will make such a good video like this in future... tq
He did connect them to the same light. The first connection was to supply power to the camera when in reverse, and the second was to trigger the head unit to switch to what the camera is seeing. Could connect them at the same time but he did them seperately. Same same 👍🏻
When my mate and I installed a reverse camera in both our mazdas. His fuse popped and had to use a 15amp fuse for his to work. As for mine for some reason, I popped the fuse aswell, plus a 15 amp fuse we replaced it with. So my only option was a 25amp fuse which has proven to be the most reliable for my mazda. An now i have no issues, i dont if it's because mine is manual and his is auto. But the load on his car is different than what the load is on the system of mine
I need your advice, any help would be appreciated! ... after installing the DVD player and the reverse camera, the steering wheel buttons are not working (the volume up and down buttons both cause the volume to go up). Do you have a way as to how to get them to work? I have a Camry Altise 2007. The brand of the DVD is EHOTCHPOTCH. Full details can be found in the AD on ebay www.ebay.com.au/itm/132294998061?ul_noapp=true Regards.
That Orange cable that comes out of your radio has to be connected to the small red cable that comes out of your video cable from the back. And at the back you connect this red cable to your + from reverse light. So your radio registers that you're in reverse because the light goes on.
Very good instructional video. One observation though, if you disconnected the negative battery terminal, how is it that the head unit was powered on right before you removed it? Just wonderin'.....
I fitted camera in gold mark 6 when ignition on and in reverse the pictures fine but once start the car it goes fuzzy some time picture will turn off .I think I have to fit relay in it because I think losing power once the car starts up , because it's connected to read reverse light bulb .any idea would help .Chinese head unit with Halfords read camera .2012 model
So that extra red wire that runs of the yellow VGA cord connects to the power of the reverse light? As mine won't turn on when I put it in reverse but comes up when I push rear camera on head unit..
So got a question... I have a head unit and installed a rear view camera... It works for 2-3 seconds when I get to reverse and after that lines appear in screen and then gets a black screen!!!!
Yes they work with mine, there's a separate wiring harness comes from the steering colomn for the steering wheel controls, you have to plug that in to the back of the radio. So you wanna make sure the head unit you're buying supports your car, otherwise your steering wheel buttons would be not functional.
Junky DIY guy yes is a 2008 camry, I have see many videos about changing the factory radio for a after Market one and the steering wheel buttoms do not worked
At 9:10, you mentioned the orange should be connected to the red trigger wire of the backup camera. Could you please confirm that is power supply for the backup camera? When installing my Dasaita Android 8 Head Unit in my 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander, I do not have to connect any trigger wire for my factory backup camera, simply connected the yellow RCA video cable works. Now I got a 360 degree birdview system, and the installation instruction indicate I have to connect the red trigger wire for the backup camera, so wondering is that red trigger wire should be tapped into that Orange wire you talked about in your video. Thanks.
I have a 2014 Chevy Malibu. I am trying to figure out how to replace the original camera as it seems to be broken/disconnected. Unfortunately I can't figure out how to access the camera without removing the bumper. Any ideas or info?

Thank you.
excellent video from start to finish, great instructions and tips all the way down to theme song that I'm about to google for
When you connect the positive and negative to the the light bulb wires, do you also connect the other red wire as well to the same positive wire of the light bulb?
if your monitor/radio headunit has a trigger wire for reverse signal, you 'd better do this
Excellent video and explanation, but my stereo does not have a “back” wire for the red wire from the video cable to connect to… Where do I connect the red wire that comes from the video cable in this case?
find a replacement video cable with trigger wires on both ends of it
Cool DIY video! Easy to follow, keep up the good work!
I'm a girl and you make everything seem so easy, even if I have to see the video 10 times, I will try it, thank you.

He connects to the reverse lights twice??? I'm so confused. Why can't you connect the trigger and power to the same light?
Thats what i am wondering two!!
Me three
He did connect them to the same light. The first connection was to supply power to the camera when in reverse, and the second was to trigger the head unit to switch to what the camera is seeing. Could connect them at the same time but he did them seperately. Same same 👍🏻
great video, i just bought a cheap camera and this video will definitely be useful during the install.

Great video. You gave me confidence to install mine.
This is some good quality content. Thanks for making this video. Keep it up!
Pure bliss. Well photographed and explained.
Fantastic really helpful for Bignors.
There are wire splice T-connectors that just snap on to the desired power wires.
where do you connect the orange cable that is next to the video plug that joins the camera
That Orange cable that comes out of your radio has to be connected to the small red cable that comes out of your video cable from the back.
And at the back you connect this red cable to your + from reverse light. So your radio registers that you're in reverse because the light goes on.
@@BalticBrothers Thx, that's the answer I was looking for. The video isn't very clear on that.
Great job on explaining the installation process in your video. Very detailed. Thx
Has lots of good information, pros and cons. Good content 👌
Thanks sooooo much 🔥💥💥🔥🔥👍
How do you know which is the live wire and the ground wire?
Very good instructional video. One observation though, if you disconnected the negative battery terminal, how is it that the head unit was powered on right before you removed it? Just wonderin'.....

hey, do you have a link for the backup camera mirror you showed as the second option in the beginning of the video?
Had to find 6 different videos on how to connect the power wires to the reverse lights. Thank you for clearly demonstrating this!
So that extra red wire that runs of the yellow VGA cord connects to the power of the reverse light? As mine won't turn on when I put it in reverse but comes up when I push rear camera on head unit..
@@williams6140 I am having the same trouble, so what ended up being the case?
@@williams6140 did you end up having to connect the red wire from the vga cable to the positive wire for the light bulb?

It works for 2-3 seconds when I get to reverse and after that lines appear in screen and then gets a black screen!!!!

Do you connect the red wire from the camera to any 12?
Great video fair play man 👍🏻
Can you do one for a bird view 360 camera system please? I can't find a diy guide for this, please 🙏
This video is the best one for backup camera installing with detailed instruction on wiring, very clear and super professional! Thank you so much!
Good explanation and complete. Other videos leave out critical steps dooming the installer to a botched job.
Can u please tell me if the steering wheels bottoms works after install the back up radio unit??
Yes they work with mine, there's a separate wiring harness comes from the steering colomn for the steering wheel controls, you have to plug that in to the back of the radio.
