That shop video of you and Janelle that you put on IG needs put on RUclips shorts for people who don't have IG. It's a must see.
That motors days are numbered. 😂 Oh, and Zach is a great addition to the channel. Knowledgeable and seems like a supercool, chill dude. And as an added bonus he looks exactly like Peter from Office Space…😁
Asome love the blower just need to build a 4.0l stroker for it now
My thoughts exactly, but then i remember how his dad has a 4.6 stroker in the banana and he’s happy with it, then went back to get one for Robby’s, so why wouldn’t he just order another for the rudicon
You can make unbelievable horsepower and torque out of a 4.0l sky's the limit
Nah, you're more likely to blow up a fresh motor than a tired one when adding boost (which is why the turbo LS guys like 300,000 mile 6.0 Express vans), and those Eaton M90s are pretty safe unless you start stuffing tiny pulleys on them to spin them to the moon.
@@mikeanderson9922 It's a reliable motor but he's gonna blow it quickly. Would like to see a rebuild with upgrades.
I’m so happy you don’t want to LS swap! Always good to have a RAD video drop to start the week
Ditto 🤠
does he Ls swap a ton of stuff? (im new to the channel first video i see)
@@pnoLS swaps are just overdone in general. The Jeep 4.0L is an awesome engine, it just takes more work to get power out of it than an LS.
@@johnpearson492 i mean yeah i agree but that wasn't my question haha
@@pno I guess you are right, I didn't answer your question. No he hasn't done an LS swap before on the channel.
1. Run supercharger
2. Blow old Engine
3. ???????
4. Supercharge replacement Golen Stroker
Good to see Trevor !!!!
I really liked him on MORR !
Too bad you didn't dyno it before and after.
This is the kind of stuff I like to see you do .
That's cool, but that old engine isn't going to live long with a supercharger, LOL. Run it till it won't!!
It's never a bad idea to supercharge anything!
Especially on American cars
I reckon that mini truck needs one too. 🙂
i think the XJ is one of the vehicles where less is more. they already have cooling issues and frame rigidity issues out of the box lol. light weight is better than big stuff and more power
Prob a good idea to get a tune on it asap. I'd wager it'd run a lot better with a/f and ignition adjustments.
If it's too much, u will know soon enough.😅
Dang haven’t seen Trevor in a minute 🤘🏻 should have kept the quarter panel😂 adds character 🤘🏻
Him and Trevor have their own channel along with another friend of theirs. Misadventure lab
That qtr. Panel looked like the start of the Rudimater.
People will buy the dented one. Or fan give away. I would put it on my shops wall
Rudy has turned into his dad, Mattgyver'n stuff and Zach must be the new voice of reasoning like Tom is to the MORR team lol. New generation of MORR unfolding here 😃 RORR "Rudy's off road recovery"
RAD(A)R. Rudy's Adventure Design and Recovery.
A dyno tune is a must. Stock map on a stock 4.0 is a ticking time bomb. Do something about the hot air intake! In any case heat will get the best of it in the summer.
100% have it tuned, will make more power and do it reliabily.
I agrée. He needs a tune and also he has enough space to run the i take over the back side of the side and to the passenger side. Where he can either do a cowl intake or leave it under the hood and it will pull air from the shock tower and cooler air from the fender
Yes a hoodscoop to get proper air for the poor air filter
I like the Supercharger. It does sound neat. I'm surprised by how quiet that it is.
RUUUUUUUUDDYYYYY! Love Trevor and Tucker!
Great to see those 2 boys again..
where does tucker work now?
@@michaelwpaulin4876
Great to see you back.
Tools - always take tools with you.
I absolutely love the Rudicon and keeping the inline 6 was an excellent idea. I can't wait to see more Rudicon action!
Congratulations, Rudy. I know things have been hard and it's taking a lot of work and not much to work with since you branched off from your dad. You are making your mark and climbing up. Keep going.
This channel is almost as good as MORR. I look forward to watching Rudy on his RAD journey.
Did something happened?
@@pepsicolazero Rudy just decided to start his own channel over a year ago. No bad blood, he just wanted to do his own thing.
Hard?? lol Without his dad hed be at 1/10 of the subs and working outside in his yard.
@@katedaphne4495that was nice
Needs a cam and a tune. I love the fact your sticking to the 4.0
I'd love to see you build the 4.0 to go with that super charger. Cammed stroker and tuned. 😁
I am seriously excited to see what you do with that sand rail/dune buggy you were driving at Matt’s Off Road Recovery. Wheelies in 2nd gear are awesome.
This. Need more sandrail.
@@chrisjones5482most definitely 😅
The pin for RAD is in a different location to the address on Google Maps, is that the old shop? The RAD pin is on Field Av>
Also, did the supercharger come with an ECU? She'll be running rather lean otherwise.
Rudy is the only person I know to have bought a 5k supercharger, and attempt to hammer it on 🤣🤣
for sure. at least it was a mallet and not a sledge.
You mean that there are other ways to install it?????
Rudy and Matt have very similar finesse levels..his dad would have used a claw hammer to bludgeon his supercharger through.
Im curious how many miles are on the rudicon. i know the 4.0 is pretty stout, but i know it's got to be up there in the mileage department
The Jeep body has 180,000 miles, the motor has over 300,000 miles
@Rudysadventureanddesignreal Thank you Rudy always a great start to my day seeing you upload keep up the awesome work and stay safe
Don't be too tough on Zach, I am sure others have missed something. LOL. Do tell about your new shop, what are your plans, what are advantages, etc. Looks nice
I supercharged my 4.0 with an Eaton m90 and it's a ripper!
One of the best ways to cap off a caulking tube is with a wire nut,
(Scotch lok). Either a yellow or red.
Screw it down snug, works great for a long while. Great to see another video from you, Rudy!!
MWP Cosby Tn.
I admire your "jump in, lean into it and brace for impact" attitude when it comes to building your Rudicon! Right on!
Why did you move shop? you had the other one set up nicely, also why have you just abandoned kailuns c10
dont cut the dent out in the right rear panel use the correct tool and pull it out.
Love the videos but missing a lot of them I don't know what's wrong but I'm still subscribed but it just seems to not be giving me your new
It’s about time Rudy! And you brought Trevor and dad, top notch video.
I could see Matt is going to supercharge the banana now 😂😂
You could see the gears in his head turning 😂😂
If that engine was ever overheated or went through 'extended oil change' intervals in it's lifetime, it's days are numbered. But if thats not the case and it just has high mileage it might stay together because lowered compression engines really like forced induction (turbocharging/supercharging) as long as you can control the detonation.
One thing for sure we can guaranteeto find out in the very near future.🎉😮
Hey, your new shop is only 1500 miles away from me now. I might have to drop by on my lunch hour and check out that supercharged Rudicon in person!
If you give me a heads up, maybe I’ll have a sandwich waiting for you for lunch to save you time
Liked to watch when you were on your dads channel and like to watch you on your own. I really want to see the footage from the sand rail you worked on at your dads shop. Wheelies in second = awesome footage. 😂
First off watch all the videos love the channel miss you on Matt's off-road recovery but I know you built the exhaust for the bananas so I'm hoping you're going to do the same thing for the Rubicon want to hear that same sound you did an amazing job keep up the good work
Hey Rudy and crew The super of the charging is always the best idea lol. I am excited to see the new digs come together and grow with you. A bit of unsolicited advice from me. (armchair peanut gallery) Figure out what is making your audio duck (get quieter). Very hard to listen when your vocal is so low. Being partially deaf this is an issue for folks like me. Thanks again for all the great content and work. You are truly RAD
I agree that the sound is all over the place. I had my volume way up, and when an ad came on. it nearly blew my eardrums out.
I was wanting an update on your brother’s old pickup on the Suburban chassis? That was an interesting project. Thanks
Glad to see the Rudicon getting some love. I really can't wait for this mini rollback truck with Trevor and Tucker!
We watched you on 24 hours. Looked like you need better tires. IMO
Do you plan on upgrading the fuel pump on Rudicon? It would seem that the more air you introduce to an engine, the more fuel you will need. Food for thought.
That supercharger setup is totally inappropriate and it should be removed post haste. After which I would be more than happy to dispose of it for you (onto my own motor).
I had to grind my intake manifold in the same spots when I put a header on. I hate the same side design of the intake and exhaust!
Supercharger on a Jeep 4.0 - hmmmmm.
No comparison with the best supercharged car I've had the great pleasure of driving, which was a 1930 Bentley 4.5 🙂
at hell and back you said you hadnt ever broke anything on the rudicon, well i am bettin your gonna now
Welcome to 2024, Rudy and Jeanelle. Hope all of your efforts will be blessed w/ success. I think Pappa is envious of that SC unit and will end up doing the same/similar upgrade to the Banana - you could hear the gears humming, as he asked questions about it. I'm waiting to see what Matt has been up to w/ his Baja Corvair.
You made a call, did you get a t-shirt?
* The look on your face after you where doing 2nd gear wheelies in the Sand Rail at your Dads.. Priceless .. 👍
Hi I am very happy you are back again I really love your show I will always praying 🙏 for you and your wife 🙏 ok please be careful out there ok 🙏 love Lorilee xoxoxoxox 🙏 ❤️ tell your wife Hi for me ok
I don't fix body damage. Each dent have his own history 😂
Rudy, you are getting better and better. Keep it up. You have a bright future ahead.
What did you need to do to the fuel delivery to run the charger? I have always wanted to do this to my XJ as well. But reliability is important too.
With a stock motor, maybe. It's not gonna last long.
Drove my rod knocking Jeep from Dallas to Detroit. It'll last but might get noisy. lmao
Good morning and thumbs UP!!
wow very close to your old shop. I like the new look. I have never stopped by because not wishing to interrupt. I have had a few lunches at the border store and thanks on the tip for getting air their.. Very nice blower install.
I did some wheel wells on 2010 Chevy Silverado. They was getting rusted out so my friend ordered some replacement ones and i cut them out and welded them in. After that i grinded the welds down and used bondo on it not much thow. And it still looks good and he even dented it and no chipping or cracks. It was the first and only time i did it and i loved it.
Well, this could be interesting, lol! But, I might be biased... Way back in '79 I bought a t-shirt that showed my grin from an 8-71 we put on a AMC Gremlin...
"I'd rather be blown, than injected!". Keep providing us all with an interesting upgrades, lol! Thanx !
Great mod and definitely a welcomed boost I’m sure!
Are you only half brothers with your little brother? Yinz got different moms but same dad?
Yes
@@Rudysadventureanddesignreal I have a half brother myself. I apologize if that was to personal. Sometimes you just hear something in a video and forget you might be intruding a little.
Great choice of the super charger 👌 But now your going to find the next weak link in the drive train❤
Keep up the great work & videos.
I figured you would upgrade something on it after hell and back you did not seem happy then lol
You could see Matt's brain ticking looking at the charger lol
Did that kit come with a 7th fuel injector? And what about tuning??😁👍👍👊💪
😂 the look on your dad’s face was I don’t really need a supercharger but it sounds like a cool idea!
Cool. With the supercharger you can dig deeper holes in the sand. Nicely done.
Good Job Rudy! Let us know more about your new crew member.
It's still got that Gangster Lean. I guess that's just your signature.
Thanks for the videos!! Keep em coming!
You're going to need a bigger ring gap in order to cope with the extra heat.
An older engine will have naturally occurring ring gap. ;)
@@chrisstadler2344 and weaker rings with less meat so the reliability is less. The natural gap increase still isn't enough room for expansion and the engine will seize. I wouldn't trust the strength of the rings.
Hope you had a good holiday visiting and vacationing with family! Seems like there have been a few YT creators supercharging their off-road rigs lately. Looks like it'll be a nice "boost" in performance!
Nice to have you back Rudy. Good move putting a supercharger on the Rudicon.
The "JDICON" is now a screaming deamon, for now...😂
A possible good idea put a heat shield between the supercharger and the exhaust manifold.
Is this a stupid question? Well did you charge the junk 4.0? Then yes it is a bad idea. To all the lovers of the i6 its junk. Weak no torque and to many head/rod/head gasket issues to call it bullet proof. Put a 4.8/5.3 lq in it and you have a great motor. Otherwise waste of time.
Nice, i like it!!! 👍
did you move to a new shop?!? did you made a vid on that?!?
Neat you added about 60 pounds and gained 20hp. Can you please get rid of your used Coolant if you gonna have a dog in the shop? It only takes a little.
I’m aware of the consequences of coolant. And test all of my dogs around it Higgins has no interest in the green juice.
@Rudysadventureanddesignreal I'm no safety freak, but just get rid of it. Saying he won't drink it is nuts. What if he gets really thirsty or accidentally gets trapped in there? What if a cat or other animal gets in there?
I have a 2015 Jeep Rubicon AEV w/ an Eldenbrock e- force supercharger .. It is great compared to the stock
Pentastar v6 .. It is now at 87,000 miles and I am upgrading to a AMW 4x4 6.4 hemi w/ 8 speed tranny ( Upgraded drive shafts and rear axle rods to handle the hemi ) .. Looking forward to the monster upgrade !!
There used to be a t-shirt "injection is nice, but I'd rather be Blown" 😜Looks like you're injected and blown! Now you need to stuff your "cold air intake" into the cowl on the passenger side. You're sucking heat off your exhaust in the current location. You could do it yourself with a couple cheap pieces from the hardware store or buy a "Thor" cowl induction kit? They are pricey, but I bet they'd be willing to sponsor? There are RUclips videos. Either way, get you some cold clean air! I haven't done mine yet, but I've got the pieces. My wiring harness ('94 Jerokee) was hacked up, so I tried cleaning it up and now it won't run😢
Damn! Can't get merch, you didn't setup the shipping for outside the US. Already have Matt's, Paul's and Matter's gear. I was about to click buy but can't ship here ;(
A little more power to get over obstacles= broken axles and other components...... I prefer to go the lower gearing and weight reduction route. If I can't crawl it, don't need to go up it, but that's just how I roll cause Im tires of upgrading and fixing stuff. But very cool, Super chargers are pretty rad and cool build.
I think you need to pull the 6 and drop in a Chrysler Demon Hemi....they bolt rt up, ya know...😆😆
they didn't give you a T-shirt ?????
Why did you have to move to a new shop again
Hell ya bro I love it, I was concerned tho cuz you didn't change your fuel map for the added air and you went ripping, I'm sure you were running very lean.
Might want to get it tuned now before you melt a piston bud
On a side note went to get some merc wanted to get a RAD hat charcoal/ black but your sold out 😢
Rudy what are u going to build your main supporter your wife ??? She must want something built by you .??? She must want some kind of car or truck custom built.by her man.( if this even get seen next question and answer time can she say what she would want built.) ???
so, how does Trevor get 4 elephants in that little truck?
.
2 in the front, 2 in the back!
.
how does Trevor get 8 elephants to Maverick?
2 little trucks!
You lost me at "I don't even have a screwdriver". Came close a couple times earlier in the vid, but the lack of ANY basic tools on a shakedown is nuts. Your lack of a screwdriver screwed yourself and exposed the weak link in your build. A little more time on the build and a little less "air time" might have made the difference.
Wonder where Rudy learned how to precision adjust (eyeball) part adjustments? More like 12% better though...
Rudy, hopefully you take this as constructive criticism, but relying on the camera mike is not cutting it. I think you need a couple of remote mikes 'cos we often cannot hear what your buddies are saying, and also when you turn away from the camera. I really like your content but sometimes I just yell at the screen asking you to speak up!!
Hey Rudy, can you put some more technical emphasis on the things you are doing in regards to the XJ. I was interested in the difference of size between radiators and how the jeep did in 3rd and 4th gear after the supercharger maybe temp differences instead of showing the problems and then tackling them all in one shot, maybe try cutting to the solution and what you did to solve it, from a Viewer perspective its much more enjoyable that way
Being in the body shop business for years and thousands of spot welds later I thought I would let you and viewers who don't realise that there is a spot weld remover that is a shaft with a removable double headed spot weld size hole saw and a pilot shaft in the middle that you set so it only drills the first layer of metal. When you are done and the panel is off you just have to grind of the small amount of weld left behind. There are many other ways I just thought this one little tool might help someone. It's cool you are working with the engine you have instead of the typical LS swap. They are like a butthole, everyone has one and the wiring is a nightmare and/or expensive. I remember the old small blocks. You needed 2 wires and a fuel line and they were running. It didn't blow the oil fill cap off when you started it so you should be ok. LOL
All this work and it’s on stock motor mounts?!?! That’s insane! I’ve wanted to upgrade mine for a few months I guess I’ll be fine 😂😂
WHY would you go out to test the con without taking a hand full of tools way out in the country??? No spare oil, water or even drinks and snacks??? Seriously???
How many times have you done that and have it bite you in the posterior???
I had that mishimoto, it was great until it got plugged. From what I experienced and from what I read on naxja, the holes are really small diameter inside and plug easily. I have the summit racing two core now but someday I’ll get the mishimoto going again.
How do you like your Badland winch I've been thinking about getting one or a Warn VR 10 kind of caught up between the two because the Apex is a good deal
I can’t believe after all this time watching both channels I never knew Rudy was Matt’s son….how did I miss that??!
I don't know who Zach/Zack is but he does great work.
Never stand around with your hands in your pocket it makes you look lazy instead of nervous. I can't imagine how stressful it is to be on camera like that but I think you are going to be just fine with a little time..
The Rudicon looks like one of the Oldschool toys "stompers"
Wait, is Matt your dad? :O
Edit: Now that i'm listening to you speak, you sound more and more like Matt :D What a family!
Nice idea, but that air filter is a really bad idea like that. Supercharged produces a lot of heat, especially without intercooling, the air density drops drastically due to the hot charge air. If the intake air of the supercharger is already hot and its density is even lower than normal outside air, then disaster is ready and a broken engine is your best friend. Putting a clearly undersized air cleaner in the hottest corner of the engine compartment is a terrible thought. Put a snorkel to suck fresh air from the roof and a large air cleaner, and the engine may work reasonably well when finally adjusted.
Forced induction = immediate like.
Oh man that first pull out of the lot put a big ole smile on my face 😂
If cooling ends up being a problem then I think logically the next step in the Rudicon's evolution is a radiator sticking 8 inches out of the hood.
Maybe you can talk your dad into giving you a tool burrito. I keep a set of tools in each of my vehicles and I’m a long distance from any sand or boulders. We have our share of mud.
Rudi why did you pour in water/ coolant into the radiater of a hot engine that broke down on the shake down run ic the supercharger. Surely the engine block wax still hot ???
So with the supercharger do you not have to run intercooler piping or any cooling lines or blow off valve or diverter valve or bigger injectors and fuel pump and tune like you do with a turbocharger setup cause if you haven’t done any of those your definitely not getting the full potential of it
