It's true though, because of the funding cuts and low prioritization of recruiting astronauts, even if you have the qualifications or more, you'll still be put into a rigorous and meticulous selection process that take account not only your qualifications but also your skill synergy and all those psych stuff with your crew mates.

2:36 he’s not wrong. Since Mars can be seen without a telescope, it definitely was “discovered” before recorded history. Being the first known civilization to write about it doesn’t mean it was discovered first by them.

Name for people who are training to go to space and working in a space program (200k) for people who went to space but quite and moved on and this is money in 5 month after the person launched (800k)... for the person who launched a few times and then worked in a space program (3m)

A little rough math: about 10 people a year go to space. We'll say half of them for the first time. So 5 new people a year get to go to space. 53 players win a Superbowl every year. Not only is it harder to get to space than to win the Superbowl, it's about ten times harder.
You've gotta be good, but you also have to have an insane amount of luck.
@@cptjeff1 That's not true though. The difficulty should be relative to the number of people attempting it. I am sure there are more people out there playing whatever Superbowl is playing compared to being an astronaut. You need to factor in the prior probability instead of only the joint probability.

That is in part because of them, only Chris Hatfield went to space on more than one type of rocket. All of the others only launched into space on the Space Shuttle. Hatfield has launched into space on both the Space Shuttle and a Russian Soyuz.

Because Hatfield was the only one to launch into space on two different types rockets. The rest only launched into space on the Space Shuttle. Hatfield has launched into space on both the Space Shuttle and the Russian Soyuz.
