I was kind of expecting that lock-on launchers would at least have the advantage of being fire+forget, being able to lock on in a couple of seconds and then get a shot off, then retreat to safety to reload. But it looks like the best builds can bring down streaks before a launcher would even lock on!
Sometimes the Pila doesn't even track UAVs (I've had a bunch lock-on but never hit), and if you don't get a JOKR off right away versus a UAV, it's likely to zoom away before the missile hits. Launchers in this game are clearly meant to be primarily used against infantry.

No they don't. They are nearly perfect. You are looking at tiny vacuums of data and spinning the narrative to suit your belief. By all means, run around with an LMG and incendiary ammo and anti armour field upgrade. See how far that gets you for 95% of the game. Its morw likely you are giving the enemy a VTOL with that setup or at least lowering the teams utility with it. RPGs have fire and forget, no skill required, fastest at killing UAVs on the fly, have no real cost for the loadout and often carried by 3 or 4 members and in a group take down a VTOL as fast as the aforementioned LMG setup
I have the Sakin on my anti-vehicle class but I'm gonna switch it out for the SO-14 now for sure. Having faster handling and movement can be very nice, thank you for doing the testing
The cool thing is the SO-14 with this setup is a pretty decent weapon to use in the mean time before you're able to switch back to your regular loadout.

Possibly useful to note, you can stick a thermite to a lot of killstreaks too, made especially easier with the Strong Arm perk. If you can quickly line up the thermite you can take down vehicles even faster. It's fun.
Ever since I started the game I made an Lmg class with extended mags and fire bullets strictly for whenever the other team calls in kill streaks, also using the RAAL just makes you feel so strong
I seem to be one of the very few players that have a dedicated anti-air loadout with an LMG + ap ammo. Especially in quick paced matches where you die often, it's way more efficient to swap to the lmg and get rid of any streaks in the sky, and then change it back to your preferred loadout on next respawn. Bind hotkeys to the loadouts
Same, except the anti armor rounds, the ~1 second time save just never seemed worth it to me in place of other field upgrades, especially if I’m going to take longer than a second to even load the mag
Would like to point out that the Gunship cannot be hit with bullets. It can only be hit by launchers, and the Strela, from what I have tested, only takes three shots to destroy the Gunship.

I just finished leveling up the S0-14, I KNEW I wasn't going crazy when I thought it seemed pretty quick at killing streaks, but I never used it with a 50 round mag and incendiary rounds so I wasn't sure, but it seemed like it could do the job against a VTOL in about 3 mags which seemed a bit silly
I would like to see you test the fastest way to take out a juggernaut. Do incendiary and anti armor rounds help with jug armor? I would be curious to know.

LMG are the best when it comes to very distant targets such as UAVs in ground war. the RPK wins over the rest mainly due to the stability aspect and recoil at very long distances. I can share some of the builds if you'd like but so far I've tested almost all weapons and the RPK doesn't have even a close match for the range it is able to take down UAVs and CUAVS from. also Armor piercing > Incendiary for UAVs. the bullet velocity sacrifice is too big for it to be a thing

I'm a pretty huge fan of Icarus AP + AA round field upgrade. Drops Harriers and Support choppers with a single 75 round belt. They don't stack additively, but its a noticeable improvement over just one or the other. Also, wall banging monster. Zero cover, depending on the wall because MWII bullet penetration makes zero sense. takes about 10-15 rounds to drop a UAV, and ~3-5 to drop a C-UAV I should also mention a "hidden" perk with Anti-Armor rounds. Aside giving you a full free belt or mag of ammo, its a "sleigh of hands" faster reload than normal, which makes the LMG reload shave off a second even without fast hands.
I’m not sure how many other players actually are aware of this, but you can also use a killstreak to take down a killstreak. Specifically, I love using a precision airstrike to take out a VTOL. Sure, the streak might be better used against other players, but it’s awesome to see the A-10’s scream in and instakill a VTOL.
Honorable mention should be the cruise missile - you can instantly blow up a VTOL and other aerial streaks when things are really hectic, plus it’s a fairly cheap killstreak too And yes, it can destroy a Gunship.

Great video. I knew the lmgs were good for taking down streaks, but interesting to see the BR's are a better option. Crazy to see the tracking launchers don't server a lot of purpose in the game except easy easy uav takedowns.
The RoF reduction almost definitely isn't worth the damage increase. Even if you have God's trigger finger the max semi auto RoF is way lower than the full auto RoF.
I shoot first with the strela-p, then swap and continue with any lmg. It works well when you don't have the correct attachments unlocked and you don't need to fire twice since the strela isn't a lock-on launcher. Again, this is in case you don't have the incendiary ammo or 50/100 round mag, it does the job fairly quickly (mostly for a vtol that's very stationary)
Streak killing potential is more of a specialized quality of a weapon than a build. The diverse range of streaks as well as the amount of commitment you have to killing them range from heli shreading LMGS, The "Doing my part" Pila launchers, or the SMG+Riot shield manic with just enough sense to run Spotter for cluster mines, and call in a CUAV/DDOS when they hear the enemy has radar. Here's some advice I have for folks. UAVs are one of the harder streaks to take out with bullets. each map has them at different elevations and in different skies (Turiq's cloudy grey sky hides them well and Raceway has airline planes that look like UAVs, ect) I usually run suppressors to boost my incendiary's bullet velocity, and range while also keeping my gunfire off the map. VTOL's are very common and a pretty easy target. and the fact you get a free airstrike probably makes up for the wide hitbox and ease of killing even with common rifles and launchers. Chopper gunners and Wheelsons are pretty violent streaks that take alot of effort to put down. Shock sticks and DDOS help take out the wheelson so you can lay into it but smoke helps you hide a bit as you shoot into the air. I've yet to encounter a Gunship in my 69 levels of MW2 so I have no advice besides Cold Blooded and an LMG fit to kill a god. Thanks for reading, hope it helps. Streaks are in their nature snowball mechanics, but sometimes a little effort to shoot a UAV goes a long way.
Well, I tried out the So-14 with incinerary ammunition, and it's true what XAce says. Truth is that incinerary ammunition makes any weapon I tried, feel terrible to use. Especially due to a reduction in velocity and penetration. Stick with armor piercing ammo folks. It's just better overall. I run it on every single gun I can.
Overkill is incredibly powerful with this, being able to switch to an anti-streak weapon to clear skies and progress to your mid-match rewards faster. It is part of the reason why as silly as the Riot Shield combo might be it is weak. Why not invalidate the sky for the entire enemy team? This is almost enough to ensure your team wins a match. If you want to go full in having both weapons be anti-streak is an viable option.
Something that no one does, and only I do apparently, is save my cruise missiles. They destory any killstreak in 1 shot, even Gunships. Definitely the safest way to take down any Killstreak while not sacrificing a whole class setup for it
This was actually very good to see for me since I just started this game and threw the 556 icarus as my anti streak weapon because I only had access to two LMGs at the time. Going to be switching that now and coming back to this once I actually have all my stuff unlocked

This would happen if all 6 enemy players shot their gun at any streak, turns out they are quite fragile and need a lot more health if players were less selfish.

So using the anti-armor round will replace the incendiary ammo, according to the animation at least. But somehow, the ammo becomes a combination of the two? Magic indeed.

@@northdt4003 He misspoke once. First time he said armor piercing and incendiary. Then started to say Incendiary and anti armor. The latter being a field upgrade.
When the game came out I decided to grind launcher camos before anything else and I was astonished how bad the launchers are at destroying killstreaks. After launchers I grinded snipers, and when I unlocked the .50 cal explosive sniper I could take down VTOLs in well under half the time it took me to use rockets.
Could you pretty please test uavs in the future for viable guns like smgs or assault Rifles? In gamemodes like SnD, shooting down uavs is probably the most important thing you can do in public matches. Even if you switch to a LMG, battle rilfe, or RPG, sure you'll be taking down the UAV- but, for the rest of the round your essentially throwing it (mainly in clutch scenarios).
The thing about this is that if the entire team just shot the streak for one mag all streaks would be useless because it would destroy it so fast regardless of the gun, but instead my team insists on sprinting directly into the open of streaks for like 10 deaths before I reset my class choice and deal with it.

I’ve been using a long range, low recoil-tuned sakin with incendiary rounds for streaks for a long time now, you’d think this would have gotten the attention of the devs by now to maybe buff the launchers to be good at the only thing they’re really good for, maybe this video will reach them though, excellent content dude 🫡
At the end of the day the best way to defeat kill streaks is to have the majority of your team shoot at it as soon as it appears. You can shoot down a vtol right as it's flying in once it's done it's initial missle barrage.
I have tried it out and while the SO 14 is faster it may be preferable to use an LMG just for the added capacity and reduced recoil; the SO-14 BARELY has enough shots with a 50 round drum and the LMGs mostly have more enough to shoot a VTOL without reloading, so you can use it to clear ground enemies as well. having one of the unguided rockets to finish off the streak or to use against Wheelson's can also be pretty helpful
Obviously it doesn't matter because of the Strela being trash, but you can fire the rocket as soon as that square turns red and it will lock on. I say that because I see a lot of people that just wait way longer than they need to fire it when they don't need to do that. The other thing is that you can actually fire at (at the very least) a VTOL without locking on with the Strela to make it waste its flares, then you can lock on after that. Very unimportant information but it was helpful when getting the platinum launchers
for less than half a second, I'll take the TAQ-V over the SO-14. Much better gun overall I think? THis was extremely informative! Had an LMG with AP rounds for streaks. I suspect this will change in the future. It makes no sense.
Not that everyone can get one, but if you get a cruise missile, always save it for the rest of the match. Able to take out up to a Gunship with 1 missile. Somewhat of a low earn streak too. But if not... guns. The missile can be launched around the time the VTOL is turning around and just before it gets into position.. boom. Guns are easier to do though. Missile is just another somewhat option for those who have one.
I thought I was tripping but I actually came to this conclusion as well. I didn't think you could combine ammo with the armor piercing rounds though. I already use the SO-14 in my dedicated anti-air class.
With HC coming back the SO-14 will be the main gun I use because I won’t have to swap classes when a KS shows up. Now if they’d just rework the perk system.
Amazing video as always, Ace! Do you think you can make a video of penetrable surfaces? What surfaces can be pierced with normal and armour pierce rounds and the damage? Sometimes, I see that some bullets, even armour piercing bullets, can not penetrate things like plastic boxes, but it does penetrate concrete. That would be very helpful! Cheers, man! I always keep a cruise missile handy for them, they 1-shot those loitering streaks like choppers/vtol. Cruise missile MAY get 3-4 players depending if they're bunched up, a vtol/heli can do more so i think it's worth using a cruise missile.
The fastest way to take down a VTOL in MW2019 was to fire two pila rockets at it while it's doing its airstrike pass, then switch to an lmg and finish it off as it starts to descend to hover. Might be able to do the same thing here with a Pila and SO-14.
My homeboy put me on to using submachine guns to take out vehicles on rebirth of. We'd use large ammo subs like the bullfrog and put on the armor piercing or whatever they're called rounds and rip through trucks, choppers and whatever. We also had one dude that ran a launcher and we'd decimate vehicles.
Nice. This basically lines up with my antivehicle loadouts for this game. Sad to see no Jak12 in this game. Pretty much in line with MW19 groundwar loadouts.
The Strela P is better at being a melee weapon than it is at being a launcher

Some of the killstreak can also flare and effectively makes the PILAs useless
What I've taken from this is that launchers badly need a buff. Especially the Karl Gustav, which is pretty much only good for meme countersniping.

launchers are great if you have 2 or 3 guys at least using them, everyone shoots one rocket, then start spraying and it’s usually down pretty quick
Now imagine if everybody just used the so-14 instead. Milliseconds

Its also worth mentioning that you can stick the vtol with lethals if you have strong arm and thermites can deal some pretty good damage.
Will absolutely adopt this loadout. Will be especially helpful when multiple vtols show up at once in an invasion match!

UAVs are one of the harder streaks to take out with bullets. each map has them at different elevations and in different skies (Turiq's cloudy grey sky hides them well and Raceway has airline planes that look like UAVs, ect) I usually run suppressors to boost my incendiary's bullet velocity, and range while also keeping my gunfire off the map.
VTOL's are very common and a pretty easy target. and the fact you get a free airstrike probably makes up for the wide hitbox and ease of killing even with common rifles and launchers.
Chopper gunners and Wheelsons are pretty violent streaks that take alot of effort to put down. Shock sticks and DDOS help take out the wheelson so you can lay into it but smoke helps you hide a bit as you shoot into the air.
I've yet to encounter a Gunship in my 69 levels of MW2 so I have no advice besides Cold Blooded and an LMG fit to kill a god.

Well, I tried out the So-14 with incinerary ammunition, and it's true what XAce says.
Truth is that incinerary ammunition makes any weapon I tried, feel terrible to use. Especially due to a reduction in velocity and penetration.
Stick with armor piercing ammo folks. It's just better overall. I run it on every single gun I can.
I love it when my setup is on exclusive Ace! I rock the tac v in my slot for when kill streaks are active.
At 3:38 you mentioned shooting at gunships. I'm fairly certain you cannot damage gunships with non-launchers

Overkill is incredibly powerful with this, being able to switch to an anti-streak weapon to clear skies and progress to your mid-match rewards faster. It is part of the reason why as silly as the Riot Shield combo might be it is weak.
Why not invalidate the sky for the entire enemy team? This is almost enough to ensure your team wins a match.
If you want to go full in having both weapons be anti-streak is an viable option.
Something that no one does, and only I do apparently, is save my cruise missiles. They destory any killstreak in 1 shot, even Gunships. Definitely the safest way to take down any Killstreak while not sacrificing a whole class setup for it
This was actually very good to see for me since I just started this game and threw the 556 icarus as my anti streak weapon because I only had access to two LMGs at the time. Going to be switching that now and coming back to this once I actually have all my stuff unlocked
Does surprise me that the battle rifles are better. Definitely will have to change it up.
Only takes 2 thermites to take down a VTOL, if you can hit it, works well for shipment/shoot house when I don’t want to change classes
I knew I wasn't crazy thinking BRs were the best for shooting down streaks... They were being shot down by the SO-14 when I was grinding camos and I kept swearing by it lmao
I think to some degree, with the value that AP rounds vs time trade off, I’d rather use the AP bc I can get bullet penetration bonus too

I have a specific loadout just for streaks raal and rpg, so when a streak appears a just select that loadout shoot an rpg and finish with the LMG.
Imagine earning a high tier streak and it gets taken out in the same amount of time it took to call it in

This would happen if all 6 enemy players shot their gun at any streak, turns out they are quite fragile and need a lot more health if players were less selfish.

So using the anti-armor round will replace the incendiary ammo, according to the animation at least. But somehow, the ammo becomes a combination of the two? Magic indeed.
Armor piercing incendiary rounds do exist though.

When the game came out I decided to grind launcher camos before anything else and I was astonished how bad the launchers are at destroying killstreaks. After launchers I grinded snipers, and when I unlocked the .50 cal explosive sniper I could take down VTOLs in well under half the time it took me to use rockets.
Could you pretty please test uavs in the future for viable guns like smgs or assault Rifles? In gamemodes like SnD, shooting down uavs is probably the most important thing you can do in public matches. Even if you switch to a LMG, battle rilfe, or RPG, sure you'll be taking down the UAV- but, for the rest of the round your essentially throwing it (mainly in clutch scenarios).
The thing about this is that if the entire team just shot the streak for one mag all streaks would be useless because it would destroy it so fast regardless of the gun, but instead my team insists on sprinting directly into the open of streaks for like 10 deaths before I reset my class choice and deal with it.

I’ve been using a long range, low recoil-tuned sakin with incendiary rounds for streaks for a long time now, you’d think this would have gotten the attention of the devs by now to maybe buff the launchers to be good at the only thing they’re really good for, maybe this video will reach them though, excellent content dude 🫡
At the end of the day the best way to defeat kill streaks is to have the majority of your team shoot at it as soon as it appears. You can shoot down a vtol right as it's flying in once it's done it's initial missle barrage.
With everyone off the board I like the Lions trading back with the Titans who come up for either a QB in Levis or a T.

You can shoot the pilot out of the VTOL. I did it accidently in invasion with the RAPPH
I have tried it out and while the SO 14 is faster it may be preferable to use an LMG just for the added capacity and reduced recoil; the SO-14 BARELY has enough shots with a 50 round drum and the LMGs mostly have more enough to shoot a VTOL without reloading, so you can use it to clear ground enemies as well.
having one of the unguided rockets to finish off the streak or to use against Wheelson's can also be pretty helpful
Obviously it doesn't matter because of the Strela being trash, but you can fire the rocket as soon as that square turns red and it will lock on. I say that because I see a lot of people that just wait way longer than they need to fire it when they don't need to do that. The other thing is that you can actually fire at (at the very least) a VTOL without locking on with the Strela to make it waste its flares, then you can lock on after that. Very unimportant information but it was helpful when getting the platinum launchers

Yeah. Have found success with TAQ-V anyway, so the fact that it's also very decent for killstreaks is just an added bonus to keep in mind.

Not that everyone can get one, but if you get a cruise missile, always save it for the rest of the match. Able to take out up to a Gunship with 1 missile. Somewhat of a low earn streak too. But if not... guns. The missile can be launched around the time the VTOL is turning around and just before it gets into position.. boom. Guns are easier to do though. Missile is just another somewhat option for those who have one.

I thought I was tripping but I actually came to this conclusion as well. I didn't think you could combine ammo with the armor piercing rounds though. I already use the SO-14 in my dedicated anti-air class.
With HC coming back the SO-14 will be the main gun I use because I won’t have to swap classes when a KS shows up. Now if they’d just rework the perk system.

Do you think you can make a video of penetrable surfaces? What surfaces can be pierced with normal and armour pierce rounds and the damage? Sometimes, I see that some bullets, even armour piercing bullets, can not penetrate things like plastic boxes, but it does penetrate concrete.

I always keep a cruise missile handy for them, they 1-shot those loitering streaks like choppers/vtol.
Cruise missile MAY get 3-4 players depending if they're bunched up, a vtol/heli can do more so i think it's worth using a cruise missile.
I play SnD so cruise missles and air strikes are exclusively used for taking out kill streaks.
The fastest way to take down a VTOL in MW2019 was to fire two pila rockets at it while it's doing its airstrike pass, then switch to an lmg and finish it off as it starts to descend to hover. Might be able to do the same thing here with a Pila and SO-14.
My homeboy put me on to using submachine guns to take out vehicles on rebirth of. We'd use large ammo subs like the bullfrog and put on the armor piercing or whatever they're called rounds and rip through trucks, choppers and whatever. We also had one dude that ran a launcher and we'd decimate vehicles.
I used to do this on rb and caldera I loved getting free quad kills shooting a heli with a rocket on unsuspecting people
When going for camos or leveling up a gun I always rock overkill with a lmg with incendiary just to switch for streaks
Already had a very similar load out with the SO-14 for my demo class, the fire rate increase over the LMGs drew me to it

Weird how IW always seems to have shitty launchers for anti air but good ones against enemies, whereas treyarch is the opposite.
