This from my favorite series: Horrible Histories. Got this one from the Horrible Histories game on the bbc website. In this episode, the Colusseum is out of animals.
In roman times were you were on the food chain and status ment everything and a normal person could become a gladiator and many slaves became great gladiators the emporers familys and rich people loved these games and they had rules and regulations now its seen as barbaric but back then it was seen as honour, bravery and afterlife gladiators got more care and attension than most rich romans they were popular and know as savagers anaimals people respected them
Gladiators were celebritys they had everything alot of gladiators were free men who joined for fame and honour it was a greater honour in fighting in the arenas gladiators had power if you could control the crowd you could do anything these games to win to public support many wernt fought to the death remember rich romans were paying coin for there training and life they wernt just going to waste that coin unless it was worth it the gladiators got the best care around they were somes1 property
@dukes0916 Perhaps, though I've read that the latin term for "she-wolf" was also a Roman euphemism for prostitutes. Sort of like the modern use of the word "bitch". Portraying their founders with a wolf may hwve been seen in later gennerations as more respectful(or at least less open to ridicule by foreigners)but that's just my guess. athey do seem to havehad a far worse attitude towards domestic dogs, but that's another story.
Terry Deary was in this one, he's AMAZING!
@Lordfairling I love it how Deary keeps on popping up in some of the sketches. We wouldn't even have this show if it wasn't for his books!
what they DONT show you is the gerbil flying at them like a small furry bullet, and taking their heads off.
Mmmmm, Ben. Looking good ;)
Ten sesertii on the gerbil.
It may look cute, but just wait till it goes all Holy Grail on you!
