You are partially correct in the reasoning for the long length of the bottom of the chassis. In designing the vehicle we were presented with premade parts which I had to "fit" into the design in order to keep price under $200. Links were one of them. That forced me to have to use a longer bottom part in order to add adjustability to these rear upper links. I originally brought it up like you mentioned but then had to bring down due to upper links coliding with battery trey at more extreme articulation possitions. In the end I had to bite the bullet and accept the length as it is now. But, now that this version has found its way out we can work on better designs that will put even this one to shame! 😁👍
By the way, these long detailed videos are my favorite, I tend to do mine the same way for the same reasons you pointed out. Too many small details are missed when we dive into these guys and being able to watch and pause videos like yours for reference is golden! Keep em coming! 👍
Been in the hobby for well over 20 years and picked up my furst crawler off marketplace a few weeks and cant believe how much fun they are. I got a furitek katana with a bunch if aftermarket parts and I paid less than $100 for it, will definitely be buying more soon 👍
dont apologize for the length of the vid ken that was great you covered everything so well thankyou.. also ken not having a dig at for future reference i noticed in the USA a few guys call the part on the drive shafts witch incase the uni joint u call ears or fingers r called here in aus r called either flanges or yokes , and i know from my race cars that I've build over the years from team associated team losi and tekno the part on the shock shaft between the 2 circlips are called pistons one hole 2 hole 3 and so on lets the amount of fluid though again not taking the piss out of u love your vids.
When Ken discovered something "cool", he discovered a free overdrive mod. It looked like 2 to 1 driving ratio front to rear. That is incredible. That's 100 percent overdrive to the front.
Great review Ken! Really had fun with the missing bushing part of the video! Lol! I just got my Green Fury in the mail. Love the looks and the color. I noticed I am getting quite a bit of torque twist and was hoping that you could please give me some tips on fixing that. The shocks don't seem to have any oil in them, so I will start there by filling them and seeing if that helps. Great video and super informative. THX
You fix torque twist by reducing any resistance in the axles/wheels that might exist and then stiffening springs. Also, you can try to reduce weight. Thicker Oil in the shocks will help.
Even go through an grease the drive train mine has got almost none so I wonder if it has something to do with the configuration of the drive shafts maybe yours are out of faze idk if that would cause it but still check I suppose
Got mine yesterday. Excellent in depth footage of the product. You are becoming imo the gold standard for review of these little rigs. Btw, do you remember how many bushings total are in the gearbox? And if so the size? Want to replace those with bearings and leave the bushings for the rest of the rig. Didn’t see any dimensions referenced in the manual. How do I get a sticker? Would totally rock your logo on my rig. Thanks again for the excellent vid.
Huge thanks for the watch. I don’t remember how many are in the trans (you could try to count through the video lol.). I do know that furitekusa.con has a bearing kit already. As for stickers, you’d need to get me your address. Theshopminirc at gmail.
Ken. Good to see you back. Hope your trip was successful. Great to hear you talk about all these little details. I know a rig will never be perfect. The cons - noise and slop in the transmission thu the wheels, large bottom section of the frame is indeed long, bushings. Pro's? hahaha.. everything else which is a lot!. Vented stock wheels? How much grease is too much gears to pack on all those gears? Can you flip those shocks so heavy side down? replace bushings with bearings all around? Graboids!
Thanks a ton. Still dealing with some rental stuff, but back home and that’s good. I am not sure if they are actually vented, but they seem to be, I don’t think there’s such thing as too much grease lol (I’m sure there is but I use a lot). Yes you can flip the shocks to get more weight down low and bearing over bushings all day long if you don’t run in a lot of water.
Ken I’m trying to hook up my fly sky GT5 with the FS-BS6 receiver to the Furitek 118 with the lizard pro SC. I’ve managed to bind the receiver and I’m getting steering but no throttle. Can you help me ?
@@TheShopMiniRC I loved the video you did pullin apart the furitek 118 transmission accidentally dropped one of the bushings in the battery tray, then not knowing you were minus that bushing attempted to figure out how that thing was working…..epic content , have shared that with many friends. Love your stuff Roger
@@rhodes6858 hahaha. That was definitely a thing. Many would have edited it out for their pride, but I figured, “hey, it shows people it’s normal to mess up”. Thanks for the watches and the shares!!!
As usual, super in depth review of the rig, thanks for putting in so much effort. A couple questions if you have time, Is it locked in low or high and do you think that effects torque or does the brushlessness cancel out those concerns? Does it have a similar amount of lash in the drivetrain to the Fcx24? Thats the only issue i have with my power wagon, it has a fair amount of lash in low with the portals which hinders precise driving sometimes.
Gearing Always matters, brushless or not. I am unsure of the gearing used, however I don’t think it’s as simple as it just being locked in high or low, I know it has a different pinion on it. It has plenty of low end torque and enough wheel speed to trail it. As for portal slop/lash, all portal setups have that issue. This one doesn’t seem to bad though.
also ken the extra shaft on the transmission u r right about running farm equipment the most thing we use them for on our old landys is the PTO winches still the stongest winch known to man cause u r using the power of the engine it well lift the whole landrover off the ground up a tree if u need like on movie the gods must be crazy mind u not much good if u have flooded the motor in the middle of a river o well shit happens.. thanks again ken
It got up to 81 degrees at Pro-Line. That's not hot. Lol Great review. Very awesome. I'm glad you took the trans apart. Dont apologize, the vid was very well done andvyou hit on everything i wanted to know. Why does my firmware on the app only go to 1.7 but on this video it goes to 2.24?
Are you kidding? Cheapo? This truck is fantastic! It's ALL metal gears... what other RTR has that? Its Brushless, what other RTR has that? I would MUCH rather have bushings over bearings if it means brushless and all metal gears. It also has a separate ESC and RX, which means you can easily swap or upgrade electronics... Calling it "Cheapo" is a completely unfair and poor assessment of this truck

Thanks a ton good sir. I am honored and humbled to have your insight, compliments and viewership.
Thank for the love and showing off the trail. We had a blast putting it together.
Amazing job!!
The run footage at Proline By The Fire was EPIC! Well done!
Huge thanks! It was awesome because of MCC!

There's Philip head screws on the steering servo.
I'm really curious about putting the 2-speed in there.
Ahh yes, true. That’s very common though. (Almost every mini rtr.)
I look forward to learning about the transmission
I hope to get to it soon.
Love that thing, all except that bed on it
It’s awesome!! You can always cut the bed off and make it can only! Then design a cool bed/rear/cage for it.

You need to be sure to calibrate the throttle endpoints in the app.
Also be sure your battery is fully charged.

Wow I your video, learn so much about rc thanks
Thanks a ton for watching. Glad it helped you.
Which body types can it be switched out with? Would it be hobby plus only or other 1/18 scale providers?
Any 1/18 pretty much. Just need to figure out the mounts.
A comparison with the new LC80 ???? 😅
Great video 👌👍
We just got our lc80!
Nice vehicle very good review

Thanks for watching!!!
Wish they had of chosen the T hunter to model their truck after, it’s the best looking option from HobbyPlus in my opinion
You can always change the bodies very easily.
Let's go
Vrrrroooommmmmm
PTO shaft. Power Take Off Shaft. Not normally a second shaft but connected to the hydraulic transmission. The More You Know! 😂
Ahhh. The PTO shaft.

@1:19:00
These are facts. Lol
Under $200! WOW AMAZING! Its amazing. Sells for $199.99. 1 penny under $200. Wtf?
Uh… it’s under $200. It also was purchasable for 180 using my code. ;)
This truck has ONE bearing in the entire system. The motor shaft bearing... The lights dont even turn off without unplugging them. Cheapo.
