I have to agree with @nathanstrange168 - your reviews are more insightful than the usual gun reviews out there. I felt like you were honest and called like you saw it
I ended up with the Echelon and have about 1,500 rds through it now. It is the smoothest, most comfortable feeling pistol I have ever owned. I switched out the grip module for a OD green one but left the backstrap black and it looks sick (to me) as well as shooting ridiculously well. Still.... I look at the PDP Pro constantly and have to talk myself out of getting one. It's gonna eventually happen.
I went for both. Walther is still on its way, echelon is in my hand now and it is such a good looking gun in my opinion. And with the extension pad on echelon, I actually had 21rd in it, i guess if you push hard it will fit.
@@mrwagner01 the stock mag is 17 rds, and the extension if i remembered correctly is +3. so 20 is the right number, but both of my mags take 21rds, which is a good surprise i think
I got my PDP for $450 from a guy who didn't like it. Bonus! Love the PDP. So many great design queues from the grippy pyramid textures on the grip. Agressive but won't tear you up like the latest M&P pistols. Also you could cover tge PDP in oil and you will be able to rack it no problem. To me, the serrations are perfect. Love them. The pistol is snappy, but it doesn't affect me shooting it oddly. It is a laser beam. The only other polymer pistol I shoot as well is my VP9. Now the gentleman who sold it to me bought an Echelon. I own XD's. Three currently and one I sold. I love XD reliability. Every one I own and one I traded (an XDS9 1st Gen for an XDS .45 Mod 2. I own the XDM MOD2 .45 and the new XD OSP 4.5 in 10mm. Love my XD's but I shoot the PDP better than the Echelon. All day every day. My PDP compact has been flawless so far.
I’ve shot both and own the pdp. The pdp is superior. Better stock trigger (the upgraded performance tigger is the best). The pdp has a lot of aftermarket support as well. The texture on both are good to go. You can’t go wrong with either one.
Nice vid. The short trigger reset of a walther is something to be experienced, like you're flexing your hand- not puuulling a trigger. Fast and keeps shots on target.
I was have the same dilemma, than I decide to buy HS Escalon, because, I m from Croatia and like any patriot I know all the history of HS (or Springfield armory now), we start to produce our guns during the war ‘91, and whole team have a lot experience. I think you make a good choice 👍
While you were shooting, the Echelon looked to settle in a bit better and was right on or very close for the sights. The PDP looked like you still had to bright the sights back in a bit after each shot. I've never shot a PDP before, but I noticed similar with my in comparison to some glocks. The Echelon would just settle after each shot right on the money where I wanted it, glocks I would have to bring it back in line
That is exactly right. It’s a more pleasant shooting experience because of that, and hence why in this comparison it slightly edged out the PDP Pro. Thank you!
PDP isn't snappy because of the weight, and people have proven that the PDP is one of the fastest guns to settle out of recoil. People suck at shooting.@@MattTheBandGuy
I have the SD Pro, and it is fantsstic, i will say, while they were fast to get a plate out to me, i was not as pleased with it because of the poor co witness, and the slide gap between the optic and the cut length. Due to this, i purchased a C&H precision plate for the PDP to mate it with my Holosun EPS Carry, and not only does it eliminate that less than appealing gap, but it also dropped the overall deck hight, and now allows for a perfect 3/16" co witness, allowing for full visibility of the dots on the iron sights, and still keeps the sights in the lower quadrant of the optic, allowing me to ignore them, while using a 2 MOA dot inside of holosuns 32 MOA crosshair ring without any interference from the iron sights whatsoever. Granted, i had to purchase a plate to be a little happier with the outcome, but aside from the improved co-witness, and finish look, the overall experience of shooting is absolutely phenominal. Granted, this is personal preference, but the walther being my cheapest handgun (excluding my FN 502) out of the box, im blown away with it, and i actually shoot it more than my P226 Elite.
Echelon is what appears to be a great innovative gun. Had the opportunity to try one at a demo day. Shot two mags and went back to my PDP Pro. For me the return to zero and trigger is so much better. Another great option though that will hopefully drive the industry further.
Is that the secret with the pdp? It has a higher bore axis and a chunky slide so it’s going to rise more than others, that’s just physics. Did Walther manage to balance the gun in a way that it makes up for the rise with really good return to zero? I look forward to shooting it but literally every video I’ve seen you hear it’s got more flip than others, but at the same time people freaking love this gun.
@@HuntFishShootChannel yeah at the end of the day, it’s just 9mm. I’m just curious. Appreciate the response and all the comparison videos you’ve done. Really enjoyed the xr920p videos recently. I think I’m looking for a platform to settle on. Really like the idea of having mag compatibility between handguns and a pcc, which at this point means handgun options are Glock, shadow systems, the M&P series, or the P320. Keep up the great work, the channel is awesome.
I purchased the Echelon been about a month ago now and it's been awesome at close to 500 rounds different ammo types . I've seen and heard about a few issues people have had with it but I haven't had any as of yet so good so far.
I ordered a crossbreed holster thinks it's called a rouge? Yeah I like it alot. I like the trigger and usually I got to change something but I can seem to find anything I want to change. I purchased the model with the threaded barrel and 3 dot night sights.
I have the Echelon I put a Holosun 507c on. Over 3000 roundscso far with zero issues. One of my buddies has a PDP compact. We have traded and shot both. One can't go wrong with either. Walther and HS Produkt have built and designed outstanding pistols. If I didnt already have the Echelon, Id have a PDP.
I bought the PDP a few months ago and love it,the trigger is one of the best I’ve ever used, on the other hand I am a Springfield fan because my first edc was the xds now I carry the hellcat pro I have a XDM. So I’m definitely getting the Echelon and I’ll have the best of both worlds.
The Walther is my next purchase! I have the Q5 Match Poly and have loved it as my home gun and range toy. With the magwell, ext and reddot it is a beast!
I bought an Echelon right when they came out. I have a regular PDP as well. I like them both pretty much equally. Still getting my round count up on the Echelon, right at 1000 rounds now, but to date, no issues at all. I also have three 20 round mags and have not had one grenade yet.
@@HuntFishShootChannel It would be nice to see some of these reviews where the mags did rapidly disassemble, where the reviewer would admit that the mags worked after they assembled them correctly.... To date, TFB is the only one making the correction that I"m aware of.
@jasonbuske3093 that is correct. I fact there’s a couple I watched where I could visibly see the mag improperly assembled and then they proceeded to bash the magazines
@@HuntFishShootChannel So what is the issue? Did the mags come unassembled and the user had to assemble? Does the manual cover the "special process"? Because this is happening so often I bet if you did a video on the correct method you would get a ton of hits.
@retirednobaddays456 a bunch of content creators and regular folks got magazines improperly assembled from the factory and some put them together wrong. The instruction manual with the pistol is very clear and easy to follow. We currently have 7 magazines and no issues with any of them! Unfortunately an assembly video of a magazine on RUclips would violate RUclips police’s and we won’t be doing that for the video.
I own the echelon comp, and pdp pro, pdp match poly, and pdp match sf. In my honest and humble opinion I'd take any one of my pdp's first. That said the echelon is still a great gun as well, right under the pdp's for me!
I have a walther Q4 sf that i carry for work and after getting my hands on the echelon even after putting the leupold delta and streamlight on it it landed about even price wise and i like it better in just about every aspect. I dont own the pdp so its not apples to apples but i have shot them and i think the echelon is the best bang for your buck hands down. I have around 2k rounds through mine already without a single failure. Amazing gun.
Thats some high praises for you to pick the Echelon over the PDP. Echelon looks like a great gun and Springfield did their homework. Looking forward to the slide/frame combinations that they will bring out.
They definitely did! It’s an impressive offering and was a welcomed change over the XD series which I was not a fan of. The PDP isn’t going anywhere for me tho, I shoot it well and the PDP Pro Trigger is second to none!
Honestly the PDP is just on another level. Its hard for me to use any handgun after the PDP. But hand me either because they are both amazing firearms.
@HuntFishShootChannel I'll admit I have a bias though, I've always been a Walther fanboy. But objectively the PDP is an amazing pistol regardless. It's such an improvement over the PPQ, which was a nice gun but I never preferred it over my old P99. The PDP is like a perfected P99, with the PPQ being like the beta attempt at making the P99 better.
Been carrying the HELLCAT PRO for a couple years, have run it like a rented horse. NO PROBLEMS AT ALL. The ECHELON has caught my eye since it came out. Looks like the duty size brother of the PRO to me, but have never handled the ECHELON. NOW, on my SAVE FOR TO GET list. THANKS! DAY AFTER DAY
I have a full size 5” PDP and just put 300 rounds through my recently purchased Echelon. The trigger and ergo is a win for the PDP. However, I picked up the Echelon with the gear up package so that’s a win for value. The Echelon’s optic ready is a win. I installed a Cyelee Wolf X Pro on mine which is a perfect fit. Echelon shoots great, accurate as hell. The Echelon magazines are cheaper. I love both but man Springfield makes some great firearms.
if you get the holosun scs pdp optiic it fits the cut and grip . It was desighned for te pdp then you won't need a plate at all . looks great and you can co witness with stock sights witch aren't the best but they had to keep cost down somewhere.
I love my Echelon. It is the best platform I've used thus far. Mounted with holosight red dot and TRL light. Weight is noticeable, but trigger pull is smooth and recoil minimal. 9/10 better than Glock.
I recently got the Echelon and i like it but the Walther PDP “Pro” I’m drooling 😊over! I have to have it. I wish i had it when i was on patrol back in the day. I agree with you about the plate issues. Walther should just send plates like the Echelon. 👍
Thanks for the review. I wanted to see the similarities and differences between the two. I have not fired the Walther PDP. But I have shot the Echelon. Based on your review I would probably go with the Echelon. I currently carry an Arex Delta as my EDC. Basem on overall length it fits my needs better. With the trigger advantage going to the Echelon by a small margin.
A lot of what I have read, and my personal experience with my pro sd is that they are over sprung causing some of the extra recoil. Zr tactical 13lb spring and a PMM comp and it’s now my favorite pistol. C+h precision makes an awesome optic plate for the PDP as well.
All of these things are true. All of those parts could be changed or remedied with the aftermarket, but that would no longer be in a factory configuration and cost more money to the end user.
I have a sd pro compact (a bit larger than a glock 19) and can not emphasize enough what a fantastic gun this is. It feels good in the hand, shoots like a dream, has an amazing trigger and looks great to boot. I also have a xdm compact. I think Springfield makes a great gun. I think either would be great (though I have no experience with the echelon). That being said hands down the walther for me.
Both are awesome and looking to pick up one or the other. Tough choice, yet leaning towards the PDP Pro. The one thing I don’t care for is the small slide release on the Echelon. Tough choice. I do love my PPQ.
I really like Echelon. The ambidextrous locks and mag release are so easy and smooth. My HK VP9 was/ is my favorite .. glocks and CZ's nice as are my others. To be fair I have never shot a Walther I prefer full ambidextrous 5'10" 165 66 years old and fit.
I have both guns. I have the 4 1/2 inch PDP just got it and the same thing no response from customer service and no plate. I think the echelon is a far superior pistol and value.
@peterdarlington4117 nope never did. Even worse when we got the new match pistol, it took about 1.5 months to get the plate, we called after two weeks and they told us it would be 3-4 weeks as they were behind.
@@HuntFishShootChannel yea they got me considering that holosun scs dot that’s made for the gun just so I don’t have to deal with the plates but I’m sure I won’t be happy with it not being able to control the brightness level and the no battery solar charge only seems like a bad idea on a carry gun.
Man I’ve watched a ton of videos on the Echelon and I was SOLD! I wanted to buy it right away it offers so much. I decided to go to the range and shoot it first and I ended up shooting my PDP and Gen 4 G17 better than it. Still love everything it offers and may get it in the future but that made me hold off. I was so bummed lol! So now I’m just going to upgrade and put some money into my PDP.
I have both and am happy with both. Only a couple hundred rounds through each. Tough choice if I could only have one would probably take PDP Pro. It just felt a little better overall to me. But then like they say "That's why they make chocolate and vanilla". You will not go wrong with either one. Also have the PDP Compact.
Admittedly wasn’t interested in the Echelon when it hit earlier this year. The torture tests are really impressive though, and a Glock 19 size one will probably take a major spot on the market. Right now I’d go more PDP just for higher round count use and testing, but that could easily change in a year or two.
My instructor has had the regular full size PDP for a while and he got the Echelon about a month ago. He brings 2 cases full of different firearms to classes for new shooters to shoot so they can choose what to buy. After shooting both the regular PDP and the Echelon, I chose the PDP to buy. Ordered it and been carrying it every day. Not that the Echelon is a bad gun. It’s a really nice gun. I just personally clicked with the Walther better. I can only imagine how good the SD Pro is. By the way. Walther sent my plate within 10 days. But I chose to go with the Holosun SCS for the PDP that mounts direct.
@@HuntFishShootChannelWell, since I posted my comment, I got the opportunity this past weekend to finally shoot the Walther pro SD. A guy at the range had one and was kind enough to let me run a mag through it. Long story short, I literally just ordered one. The 18 round 5.1 inch barrel. Walther certainly brought it to another level with the pro SD!
I tested one of our rental Echelon. It is s flat shooting firearm but something about the grip texture I didn't like. The Echelon shot flawless but for me, I'll stick with the PDP, it's better for me all around.
With today advances it is really hard to choose and all comes to personal preferences with so many flavors, i have not shot an Echelon yet but I picked a PDP Pro full size the other day, added all the bells and whistles including springs sets from ZR and the only thing I regret is not to be able to carry it, if I was a LEO and could use it as duty would be a though choice between the Walther and the CZ P10 F, I am a small frame guy with small hands but shoot full size well enough to like em and prefer em over micro ones. Every 2 or 3 months on average something new comes out, can't keep up unless one is rich!
I share your thoughts on folks not believing the hype due to Springfield’s marketing which I love by the way. But to me they honestly have put out some very good firearms rather it be pistols or rifles. I just purchased a HellCat Pro through their First Line program. The firearm came with 3 15 round mags and they also have their gear up program which I received a fantastic two gun bag with 2 15 round mags and 1 17 round mag. Kudos to Springfield.
@@oceaser6977 I can agree with your statement and I have come across a bad product from them. Their first slim offerings were not that great for me but anything else I have come across I have had good results.
I’ve watched this video 20 times to try and decide which one to get… still pretty torn haha. Unfortunately where I live the pro model PDP is certainly more expensive than the Echelon… nonetheless I have shot and love both. Then I watched your 320 video last night (another one I have been strongly considering ) and that had me wanting that as well! I think I might go Echelon and hope for some awesome new slide/frame combos in the future. Love your content, man. Keep em coming 💪🏼
Give the echelon a shot! Save a few bucks . It’s a great pistol and I really do love mine! We have three of them. We bought two and were given one for the channel to review. That should tell you a little bit! Thanks for watching and the support! 💪
I’ve got 750 rounds through my Echelon. I love it so far. However because it’s so new I hesitate to carry it on duty yet. I’ll wait a year to see if any issues pop up. But so far so good.
I own 3 current model walthers and one echelon. Echelon is a great pistol and a great purchase but I still like my PDP 4” full-size better. Just points more natural for me. Great channel and love your reviews. Keep up the great work 👍🏾
Congratulations on all your reviews! Informative, educational, interesting, dinamici, funny and, what's the most important, impartial and without any unnecessary exaggerations. Very intelligent and well spoken reviewer. 👍👍👍👏👏👏
HS Produkt has been a saving grace for Springfield. Teaming up with HS has single-handedly, imo, saved SA from what was almost an inescapable fluff up. Love HS’s line. And am 100% picking up the Echelon, and the VHS-2 for the collection (mainly aesthetics-I just love the look of the VHS-2).
The PDPs trigger has a slight edge against the Echelon. I also liked the grip texture but didn’t care much for how chunky it feels compared to the Springfield. It ultimately came down to value for me; the Echelon came with front night sight, two 17 round magazines, plus the current promo going through next month is giving you a rebate for three extra mags and a range bag ($170 value). If you add that up it would place the cost of the PDP with the accessories at least $300 over what I paid for the Echelon. Both are great firearms 🤙🏼
On the PDP it will co-site. If you use the hollow sun SCS sites it does not need a plate and it sits perfectly co-site with both your iron sights and the red dot/green dot..
Holosun makes the SCS-PDP specifically for the PDP so that it mounts directly to the gun, that way you don’t need a plate solving your difficulty to co-witness through your optic.
So I own a echelon and actually love it I recently brought a Pdp I pick her up on Friday I rather run them both without upgrades first just me tho I definitely look forward to the experience 🤘
I’m just not recoil sensitive especially with 9mm. I shoot the pdp better than anything else and the trigger on the regular pdp compact is definitely better than the Springfield. The trouble with getting the plate colored the comparison probably.
I have two Walther PDP’s and have had no issues with them. Got my optics plates maybe a week after ordering them. The Echelon has a great looking slide. But looks like giant hell cat. Not my thing, so PDP all the way.
I have a pdp pro full size 5 inch. Shoot’s great. Will modify it heavily most likely. Got my plate in less than a week. Interested in a Echlon probly will get an hk or another cz before I get a Echlon.
dont have a pdp pro but have done this comparison as welll. I find the echelon more snappy for recoil but easier to bring back to target (no optic either one). I could go on but overall the Echelon is better imho.
Well done good Sir. Much appreciated on the versus review. Aftermarket triggers, Frames, etc. will probably make the SA Echelon a whole lot better. So with that said the aftermarket could catapult the SA Echelon ahead of the PDP or even the G19 in a few years IMO.
Thank you! I appreciate it! I feel like it’s why the P320 has had such meteoric rise. The aftermarket and variations are astounding for that pistol. Aftermarket support is why the Glock always stays relevant, because we know it’s not because of the Glock the company.
The PDP 2.0 I have direct mounted the Holosun SCS PDP version right to the slide itself and the stock sights co-witness. I seen the date on your slide of 2022. Your's should do the same...Mine co-witness no plate needed. Also the PDP is marketed as a Professional Duty Pistol and is design to be just that...Putting a metal guide rod, lowering the spring tension, and putting a metal back strap on it many reviewers stated is calms the recoil down to shoot flatter with quicker follow up shots. I kept mine stock as I tend to believe Walther knows best for the durability of their pistols...
That is correct! That Holosun would fit but I purchased this before those red dots were available. I don’t agree with changing to aftermarket spring kits unless they are built for duty or reliability. I made mine shoot flatter after this review by putting a PMM comp on it!
The PDP duty pistol? I do not know any police or army forced in Switzerland, Austria or Germany which carrying a PDP as a duty pistol. They carry mostly H&K P30, Glock 17/19 Sometimes Sig Sauer P 226.
The Echelon is less expensive now and has more aftermarket support now especially for triggers. The PDP is the same price as it was before but still has more aftermarket support.
I got bad news. Both are not on California’s stupid handgun roster 😭 had to settle for an Sig Sauer P226 with custom serrated slide, Sig Sauer red dot and TLR light. the sour red dot great because I do not have to get raised sights. I think it’s time for me to leave the state of California and go to a state that is 2A friendly
This is a Ford vs Chevy argument. The one you like, is more comfortable for you, you shoot better with, and you train with is the “better” pistol. They are both great choices and we are lucky to be living in a time with so many great options. I personally like my Echelon better than any duty-size pistol I have ever owned, for a lot of reasons. That doesn’t diminish the quality of the PDP.
I own both, both are great I had the PDP first, the Echelon is just better in almost every way, that's not to saying the PDP Pro is bad, SA just hit it out of the park with their gun. I do like the magazine well better on the Walther.
@HuntFishShootChannel yes sir. I love the quality of both walther and H&K. That, there's something about the feel of a full metal pistol. I check out a Walther M2 Q4 SF at my local gun shop. I was in love. Love the weight of it, feels great in the hands. That's the reason I bought an M&P 2.0 4.25 metal pistol part of my EDC pistol. Even tho I love my shadow systems MR920L model. That feel of all metal pistol. 👌. That's another reason why on my home defense pistol I purchased an RIA tac ultra fshc 45acp 14 round. Beautiful pistol to shoot. If you haven't shot that 45acp pistol yet from RIA. DUDE! Check that one out.

The Pro SD is one of the best factory striker fired options available no doubt in my mind!
The Holosun SCS PDP mounts directly to the pistol... it made my Pro SD that much better! The trigger is simply beyond ridiculous!
Echelon is what appears to be a great innovative gun. Had the opportunity to try one at a demo day. Shot two mags and went back to my PDP Pro. For me the return to zero and trigger is so much better. Another great option though that will hopefully drive the industry further.
For sure! It’s tough to beat the PDP Pro. I put a PMM comp on it shortly after the video and it is sweet!
@shmoopsIII I wouldn’t let what people say about muzzle flip or recoil for the PDP scare you off. It’s not bad whatsoever
@shmoopsIII thank you! Glad we are making stuff you want to watch 💪
I purchased the Echelon been about a month ago now and it's been awesome at close to 500 rounds different ammo types . I've seen and heard about a few issues people have had with it but I haven't had any as of yet so good so far.
It’s a fantastic pistol and you likely will not have any issues!
I ordered a crossbreed holster thinks it's called a rouge? Yeah I like it alot. I like the trigger and usually I got to change something but I can seem to find anything I want to change. I purchased the model with the threaded barrel and 3 dot night sights.
We bought that model as well and it’s great too!
I went with the Springfield love it !
Happy to hear you are a fan!
Our thoughts exactly!
Hell yeah!
I agree. Both are very good. But Echelon all the way...
Great choice!
I have the echelon and just bought the PDP last night online. It's going to be hard to beat the echelon.
The Walther is my next purchase! I have the Q5 Match Poly and have loved it as my home gun and range toy. With the magwell, ext and reddot it is a beast!
Great choice! They are awesome pistols
Looking for a Q5 Match Pro now... Lotta gun there for sure
What about the new PDP Match SF? Ooooweee, she fine...
Own a PDP and I absolutely love it. Plan on snagging an Echelon next! Good video and solid review.
For sure! Thank you!
I bought an Echelon right when they came out. I have a regular PDP as well. I like them both pretty much equally. Still getting my round count up on the Echelon, right at 1000 rounds now, but to date, no issues at all. I also have three 20 round mags and have not had one grenade yet.
That’s really our thoughts! Thanks for sharing!
Highly unlikely you have mag issues, I think some folks didn’t assemble their mags properly
I would too, all are great!
It’s a great one for sure and at this point is undeniable that it should be taken seriously
I have the regular 4" PDP fullsize with almost 3000 rounds and no issues at all. 🤘🏽
👏👏👏
@@HuntFishShootChannel thank you thank you 🤣
Just a general message to all my 2A brothers and sisters. You rock. Stand strong patriots.
🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
I've just purchased the Springfield Echelon 9mm today
Ok
that's impressive that it not only stacks up to the Walther, but ups the ante with sights etc. I assumed the trigger was better on the PDP.
The trigger is better on the PDP by a good amount but the one on the echelon is really good too!
Excellent reviews and comparisons. I the process of purchasing the WALTHER PDF SD PRO - but, does not hurt to hear what others have to offer.
You will be very happy with the PDP Pro!
I already have the Echelon I just got the PDP F yesterday so far I like it
That’s great!
Great video, I got to try a bunch of firearms on my last range day and these two were by far my favorite.
Awesome!
I have close to 1k through my Echelon. No issues. It’s a monster. Feels like glove.
I have a pdp and an echelon and I love the way the echelon feels and shoots for me. But are solid options. But for me I tend to go toward the echelon
They are both great options for sure!
The Echelon is made by HS Produkt
@@Devin7Eleven But SA developed and designed it. HS has the Echelon NOT on their homepage while the XD and XDM are.
Honestly the PDP is just on another level. Its hard for me to use any handgun after the PDP. But hand me either because they are both amazing firearms.
They are great no doubt!
Hard not to be biased. Walther is killing it with the PDP pistols!
THANKS! DAY AFTER DAY
Awesome! It’s a great pistol!
I own the Echelon and tried both. I like the overall feel and features of the Echelon in my opinion.
Awesome!
Yes they do indeed!
if you get the holosun scs pdp optiic it fits the cut and grip . It was desighned for te pdp then you won't need a plate at all . looks great and you can co witness with stock sights witch aren't the best but they had to keep cost down somewhere.
Very true
I love my Echelon. It is the best platform I've used thus far. Mounted with holosight red dot and TRL light. Weight is noticeable, but trigger pull is smooth and recoil minimal. 9/10 better than Glock.
For sure!
I recently got the Echelon and i like it but the Walther PDP “Pro” I’m drooling 😊over! I have to have it. I wish i had it when i was on patrol back in the day. I agree with you about the plate issues. Walther should just send plates like the Echelon. 👍
Just acquired my second Echelon. It’s that good..
We have 3 🤣
Thanks for the review.
Love the echelon! 💪
Like you and others, I have heard that the Walther has noticeable recoil. Glad you were able to find a remedy to make it perfect!
Hell yeah! The Walther is great for sure!
Springfield doesn't make the XD or the Echelon...
That was a good and fair assessment of both pistols
Thank you Rodney!
I feel the same. Recoil feels softer on the echelon but man would I like the trigger from the pdp
💪
Shot ‘em both, bought the PDP Pro SD.
Great choice!
I would choose both
So would we!
Both are awesome and looking to pick up one or the other. Tough choice, yet leaning towards the PDP Pro. The one thing I don’t care for is the small slide release on the Echelon. Tough choice. I do love my PPQ.
If you love your PPQ then you will love the PdP Pro!
@@HuntFishShootChannel that’s what am thinking. I like the feel and the grip texture better as well.
@jimmystewart7954 I agree!
Have an echelon and will most likely buy the pdp. Great review, thank you
Awesome! You are welcome!
The PDP series is excellent, if you haven’t, give them a try!
I have both guns. I have the 4 1/2 inch PDP just got it and the same thing no response from customer service and no plate. I think the echelon is a far superior pistol and value.
Thanks for sharing the experience with us!
@@HuntFishShootChannel Did you ever get ahold of anyone? I can’t even get someone to answer or call me back!
@peterdarlington4117 agreed!
Great review!! Can always depend on solid and thorough review from your channel.
Thanks!
Nothing wrong with that! Always gravitate towards what you shoot best!
What do you think between the g17 and pdp
@LiquidMotionz PDP for the win
They are both great options for sure! Thanks for sharingn
Admittedly wasn’t interested in the Echelon when it hit earlier this year. The torture tests are really impressive though, and a Glock 19 size one will probably take a major spot on the market. Right now I’d go more PDP just for higher round count use and testing, but that could easily change in a year or two.
Agree with you! Still needs some proving!
I have a few pdp's, love them. If you want to co witness, the holosun scs is a great option. Im excited to try the echelon
Thanks for the information! Wish they had that dot when I got the PDP Pro or I would have gotten it!
The Pro is fantastic and would highly recommend it over a regular PDP. The trigger has to be the best striker fired one available
@TheAxe4Ever hell yeah man! Glad to
Hear it, I just put a PMM comp on mine and it’s sweet!
Echelon shot great for me an I am considering picking one up. But as he said, you cant go wrong picking either so what is there to complain about.
Exactly my point of the whole video! Both are great options and you cannot go wrong with either!
I tested one of our rental Echelon. It is s flat shooting firearm but something about the grip texture I didn't like. The Echelon shot flawless but for me, I'll stick with the PDP, it's better for me all around.
Great choice! I definitely prefer the grip textures of the PDP!
All great points! Thanks for sharing
The PDP, no contest!
👍👍👍👍
Buy the PDP online and have it shipped to a FFL.
I’ve got 750 rounds through my Echelon. I love it so far. However because it’s so new I hesitate to carry it on duty yet. I’ll wait a year to see if any issues pop up. But so far so good.
That’s understandable! And glad to hear it’s been great so far!
I own 3 current model walthers and one echelon. Echelon is a great pistol and a great purchase but I still like my PDP 4” full-size better. Just points more natural for me. Great channel and love your reviews. Keep up the great work 👍🏾
Absolutely! I love them both equally and always enjoy shooting the PDP pro, one of my favorites in the safe. Thanks for sharing and watching!
How is it concealing the PDP 4” full size? Any issues?
@@DailyMoney925 no issues printing. I carry aiwb. It is a THICC boy though.
@@burnsyville Good to know. I’m thinking about getting one for CCW.
@@DailyMoney925 the only thing I recommend is the tungsten guide rod from walther. It helps with keeping the gun tamed due to it being so lightweight.
So…I was thinking about getting the Sig P226 X5 Legion. Now I’m just gonna go ahead and get both the Echelon comp and the PDP Pro X lol
💪💪💪

Yes they are! Can’t go wrong with either one!
On the PDP it will co-site. If you use the hollow sun SCS sites it does not need a plate and it sits perfectly co-site with both your iron sights and the red dot/green dot..
Sure if you get that specific model, which wasn’t available when we made this video.
Holosun makes the SCS-PDP specifically for the PDP so that it mounts directly to the gun, that way you don’t need a plate solving your difficulty to co-witness through your optic.
Yes they do.
I own PDP. I love it. The plate issue is real. They delayed and then sent me two! But… best damn gun I’ve owned.
Ha! Great pistol for sure!
Echelon is outstanding.
Sure is!
I'd like to see the Echelon in a compact w/3.75" threaded barrel with a compensator in the near future.
So would we!!
Great review. I've been wrestling between these two so I appreciate it!
You are welcome and thank you for watching!
So I own a echelon and actually love it I recently brought a Pdp I pick her up on Friday I rather run them both without upgrades first just me tho I definitely look forward to the experience 🤘
They are both awesome and great shooters!
Remember that the PDP has a tapered chamber getting close to 50 fps increase adding to the snappier recoil.
The recoil isnt a issue at all
for YOU. Regardless it is more, and some people care about that
Very true
Holosun makes a red dot for the pdp pro that doesn’t need a plate and it co-witnesses as well
Yeah they do and I don’t like it’s little bitty window
I’m just not recoil sensitive especially with 9mm.
I shoot the pdp better than anything else and the trigger on the regular pdp compact is definitely better than the Springfield. The trouble with getting the plate colored the comparison probably.
Not getting the plate has nothing to do with which is better overall, but it’s definitely annoying
Top tier channel, breath of fresh air the community needs.
I have two Walther PDP’s and have had no issues with them. Got my optics plates maybe a week after ordering them. The Echelon has a great looking slide. But looks like giant hell cat. Not my thing, so PDP all the way.
Great pistol! Love the PDP series and can’t go wrong with them, thanks for sharing!
Yes go with the brand endorsed by hitler.
The pdp with a red dot is so easy to shoot it feels like cheating. Great gun
So you’ve shot the echelon extensively or you’re just judging on looks?
💯 agree with you
I have a pdp pro full size 5 inch. Shoot’s great. Will modify it heavily most likely. Got my plate in less than a week. Interested in a Echlon probly will get an hk or another cz before I get a Echlon.
Great pistol! All good options you have listed!
dont have a pdp pro but have done this comparison as welll. I find the echelon more snappy for recoil but easier to bring back to target (no optic either one). I could go on but overall the Echelon is better imho.
Thanks for sharing and watching!
@@HuntFishShootChannel Agreed! I know you probably don't want to do it. You should do a versus review on the Echelon and the DR/XR920.
It’s going to happen when we find the time amongst our other projects!
Trigger and frame on the Echelon is phenomenal as is
The PDP 2.0 I have direct mounted the Holosun SCS PDP version right to the slide itself and the stock sights co-witness.
Great video....I have the echelon and after watchin this video, will be pickin up a walthers PDP pro sd
Glad to help! That’s a great choice!
Great video! Couldn’t make up my mind so I got both
My thoughts!
The Echelon is less expensive now and has more aftermarket support now especially for triggers. The PDP is the same price as it was before but still has more aftermarket support.
All true. The aftermarket support for both has increased immensely!
Cant say the echelon is bad verse competition it has more going for it! And i like it out of the box
💪
Really liked your breakdown of each..
Thank you Jeffery!
Thanks for this video! On my way now to get the Echelon…hell I might buy the PDP SF too 😂😂
That would be my personal recommendation 😂
I got bad news. Both are not on California’s stupid handgun roster 😭 had to settle for an Sig Sauer P226 with custom serrated slide, Sig Sauer red dot and TLR light. the sour red dot great because I do not have to get raised sights. I think it’s time for me to leave the state of California and go to a state that is 2A friendly
@dejaun71 Damn! That sucks!
Given the choice of these two, I'd pick the M&P 2.0. 😁
Great choice as well!
Exactly! Thank you for understanding our true underlying view point!
Already have. I got the PDP! Yeah you know me!
Great!
I own both, both are great I had the PDP first, the Echelon is just better in almost every way, that's not to saying the PDP Pro is bad, SA just hit it out of the park with their gun. I do like the magazine well better on the Walther.
Both are great for sure and no doubt Springfield Armory did a great job on the Echelon!
Really good thorough analysis and review 👍
Got me thinking 🤔
I have the PDP 5” full size.
The echelon sounds great 👀
Both are for sure! Both are great improvements upon many other manufacturers shortcomings
I’m looking at the Rival, Echelon, and PDP and I’m leaning towards the PDP.
I'm going with Springfield.
💪💪💪
For me. A no brainer. Walther. The model i want is their M2 Q4 SF
Great choice!
@jamesdelong6401 thanks for the input and suggestions!
Echelon my choice, a bit less recoiled. Right now you can get the Echelon w/ 5 mags for less than $600 including good service
Where? Tell me where!?!?
