I remember one time I was in a conflict zone and I heard the ship about to jump in then all of a sudden my ship is enveloped in an dark cloud and then I just get fucking yeeted across the conflict zone as my ship explodes all around me
"Ivan, we are about to enter a battle! Fetch me my red shirt so the enemy cannot see me bleed!" *Warning, Capital Class Signature Detected* "Ivan! Go fetch my brown pants!"
I have to admit that is very impressive. That slow, majestic-as-fuck arrival with the ominous "capital-class signature detected" really gives the "holy-crap-shit's-about-get-real" feel.
+Forced G+ Account The arrival was awesome...and then it was kind of nothing. Seemed very stationary and rather boring. There should be some reason these ships have arrived at this location and they should be trying to do something or at least get a better position on each other.
Check out star citizen.. Players are supposedly able to command massive ships like this. It will need a well organized guild or organization of sorts I believe to be effective though.
I believe you can build and command your own small private fleet of capital ships. Both in offline private servers and in the persistent universe. Offline private servers are completely open to modding, so anything is possible.
+Seabass G in SC? I'm not sure yet.. I'm hoping it'll be more like the organizations have a "project" of sorts where everyone can throw together uec and materials towards a capital ship, ( like the Pegasus class carrier, or the javelin class destroyer) of course they would take massive amounts of supplies, and it'd have to be at least 100 person organization to get it done in a feasible time. From there it'd be like a mobile guild hall. I'd like to see a fully player manned capital ship battle between organizations for maybe a new planet discovery or some event too.
Of course research would have to be done as well to basically create the blueprint. And I'd like to see the engineers having to actually put parts of it together, reason I say this is it'd have to be a multi class organization since there would be so many roles on the actually ship once it's completed
I swear.. those two battlecrusiers were like; "Hey Kracer!!" "How's it going Anders" "Oh pretty good, just zapping away at these tiny ships floating around" "Same here, this anaconda thinks he's all that *BOOM*" "Likewise, this Asp thought he was king in space, thinks he's badass with those railguns *poof*" "Say, wanna compare weapons?" "Sure, why not."
Dindunuthingwrong Yup. There are supposedly larger vessels, though they are probably only deployed in Superpower-warfare (Full-on war between Empire and Federation), or if the Thargoids really get out of control.
Crazywolfman11 Empire will endure any threat from that Thargoid alien scum. If they attack the Empire, they will be eventually destroyed. And if you federals ask nicely, maybe the Emipre will be willing to save your miserable Federation. For the right price, of course :-) Glory to Eternal Empire!!!
Mzz Grann The primitive act of slavery has been opposed and stomped out for more than a millennia now, and yet you imps still consider exploiting and using it to fuel your selfish, aristocratic, and greedy ways. Who's evil now?
Check out star citizen.. Players are supposedly able to command massive ships like this. It will need a well organized guild or organization of sorts I believe to be effective though.
+Finchi it'd be pointless, you can't move around the ship, + how would players actually work together to run these massive ships, especially because you can't even move freely in this game. And don't say "I could do it on my own". Because there are so many jobs to make on of these efficient it's not even funny
actually, the "moving around ships" and stations is a feature being worked on, and it's one of the last expansions to come through for Horizons, as long as multi-crewed ships. For now they just released the ability to land on planets without any considerable atmosphere, so they're on it.
+HellsRaven4444 Now i understand why this Sound come everytime a HUGE Monsership warp in! And it's a cool fact that gave me chills down my Spine for some reason. Everytime a Ship large as a Capital Class or a Reaper makes this noise it indicates that a realy REALY BIG hunk of Metal up to 2 Kms ripping space so hard apart that it can fly faster than light! The Noise and this explantation gave me a Nerdboner xD
Fret not, my good fellow. Warp portal are purple! But if the Imperium got their hands with technology that doesn't risk the whole crew being possesed... who am I kidding, the adeptus mechanicus would label it tech-heresy
you shit you'r pant's every time one of those monster ship's warp in when you are in the middle of a conflickt zone. and that huge horn noise it make's is soo cool
Michael Maszk Horn? That's the sound of it ripping space so thoroughly apart that a hunk of metal over a kilometer long can move faster than the speed of light!
+Ottologist I would like to point out that the dimensions, according to FDev, for a Farragut are 2km x 0.8km x 0.3km. I don't believe they have official specifications for a Majestic Class Interdictor, but I can only assume they are similar. Taller, but less wide, about the same length, probably.
-Hey tom, tonight a comet will pass by earth, it is a unique event! -Meh.... *later* -HEY TOM, I'VE FOUND TWO CAPITAL SHIPS FIGHTING EACH OTHER! -OUTTA MY WAY EVERYONE! *runs faster than Usain Bolt to his computer*
If only EVE Online was not about piloting a spreadsheet and you could purchase lifetime subscription it would be better - you can build, own and pilot capital ships far better.
The sound effects going on between about 00:12 to 0:29 is some of the most amazing audio work I've heard. Damn that's a "oh fuck" sound. I've watched that part over so many times, chills :P
+helloimrobin Yes, this was one of the reasons I bought the game. The whole sound work in this game is just amazing. And funny, as it is only your ship "faking" the sounds so the pilot can locate threats. No joke, that's the explanation for sounds in space by frontier :D
I imagine that if you're unfortunate enough to fly in front of one of those sudden appearing monsters when they're coming out of slip-space, that you'll be freaking obliterated by them just flying through you.
Content like this is awesome. More like this is what ED needs to breakup the monotony that gradually takes place. But more than anything, it gives the game character. The absurdity of it all gives the game a much needed personality that it lacks.
I wish this game was more like this. In fact I only saw a capital ship once, a smaller one and only fighting small ships. I wish you could actually control these beasts in a meaningful EVE-like battle for supremacy. That is my gaming dream. This video is great.
I like to think that the capital ship captains usually have a meeting and mark the day they are supposed to fight so they arrive at nearly the same time

I just love the sound and the look when one of these jumps in. It really reminds me of something like Star Trek, Battlestar, and so on when their big ships jumps
This is what CQC should be. Both of these ships launching a ton of fighters (5 vs 5 or 10 vs 10) fighters against one another. The winner will make the other capital ship retreat.
Sweet mother of.... My imagination just went wild, so many possibilities with assets such as these Though if you ask me... those ships should come equiped with Class 10 plasma canons and should be able to slug it out for real between themselves...
6 years and still havent seen a better capital vs capital ship battle vid that really captures the moment and the spirit of it. Love those battles, even in engineered corvette I feel squishy there if I dont play smart... and to fly anything squishier than big 3? Man i aplaud anyone and praise their skills that do so. OR maybe it was easier before engeeners? Dunno but ... capital battles should be capital and tough, even if that means just sponge mobs but still :]
They don't get damaged unless a player intervenes, a player can go and destroy the heat sinks, then at that point the capital ship will jump out to avoid getting destroyed

maaaan i like this horn like sound when capitals enter the battlefields in every space movie/game... wish we could have one capital for our own in this game
Would look alot nicer if you had large impacts on the capital from eachothers fire (shield flares etc) Since it dosent really look like there fire is doing anything. But then again this video is several months old so might have been "fixed" by now. And gotta say the Feds must be breaking some kind of international law with those Epilepsy Lasers.
Kinda seems like the Federal cruiser is made for sweeping an area of smaller ships while the Imperial Interdictor is an anti-capital battleship, probably built as a direct counter to it
The sound of a capital ship dropping from witchspace raises my blood and puts me in the "time for a real fight" mode I zone hard In a big fight But capital ships are a whole other beast for me and I LIVE for that rush. FOR VALHALLA!!! FOR THE FEDERATION!!!
MentrySK opinions but I'd say Elite Dangerous. Right now, it is really massive and open. As for Star Citizen, not 100% completed, obvious holes and it a real wallet emptier if you really want to get into it. I am a big fan of ED so I am biased. Either one you choose, good luck.
MentrySK Star Citizen will have a whole first person shooter side to things as well. You can get Star Citizen for half the price as Elite as of now, but I would wait and see if SC lives up to the hype, which right now it is exceeding it. I'd personally buy both though, they're both amazing games. Elite if you want to shoot stuff and dogfight now, Star Citizen if you don't mind waiting for the full game for more variety.
At some point they need to get those capital ships moving around, not just sitting there. Very cool, but them sluggishly maneuvering about would be way more interesting.

+Achim Hanischdörfer 10/10 wud back elite again on kickstart: I ran into my own RL named NPC in game, and killed him via suicide. its the best thing ever.
i think the federation doesnt have any horizontal gun aiming so its missing every shot it does however have a shitton of pulse lasers to compensate for no huge blue ones it seems lol
It always seemed to me Farragut was better at fighting off multiple smaller ships, with its numerous fast firing lasers and autocannons with wide arcs, but not so good at fighting other capital ships, having only broadside torpedo tubes which I've never seen fire, and the Majestic being the exact opposite, with those huge deck beam cannons, but having a pretty weak point defense with glaring blind spots
Being an independent pilot, I would... look at it for a minute and, run away. But knowing my level of curiosity, I would shoot at it just to see how fast I die.
i swear to fucking god i shit myself every time a capital ship goes BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRP as it arrives at a battle scene it's fucking terrifying how big those things are
Ah yes...In the vastness of space, several kilometer long behemoths, marvels of technologie and armed to the teeth, fighting each other...at knife distance... Navigator: Captain, we calculated enemy jump coordinates, shall we engage? Captain: Of course! Also jump directly next to them...I wanna hit em with my sword!
Check out star citizen.. Players are supposedly able to command massive ships like this. It will need a well organized guild or organization of sorts I believe to be effective though.
Ooooh look at those huge ships, wow they are amazing, look at all the guns on them, there must be dozens of guns all over those monster ships... 1:30 "Under Attack" 1:32 RUN AWAY!!!!!!!!! RUN AWAY!!!!!
Jumped in, Inflicted 40 enemy casualties.
Then the weapons started firing.
Raven Knight RIP Cobra
Raven Knight that reminds me of a story. Chuck Norris once threw a grenade, He killed 30 people. Then the grenade exploded

I was wondering, do you federal guys get imperial agents, I am at Cobeo and I am federal agent bait, thx for the free bounties btw federation.
HUnt3r Yeah, it depends on who you are pledged to in PowerPlay
this is accurate
Dindunuthingwrong Yup. There are supposedly larger vessels, though they are probably only deployed in Superpower-warfare (Full-on war between Empire and Federation), or if the Thargoids really get out of control.
The way it enters. Jesus.
Marcus Mcc LITERALLY rips a hole in space and time
Marcus Mcc Wait till the Thargoids see THIS dark shit! >:)
Daniel Cannata FUCKING LASERS AND SPACE SHIFTING NOPE FUCK THIS SHIT- Every Thargoid after seeing Capitol Ship.
Marcus Mcc it gives me Vietnam flashbacks it's that scary
It's the fucking sound mate
I just want to see a Thargoid mothership jump in and disable both fleets.

Those creepy Reaper noises! Now i know how a Shipcrew must feel in Mass Effect when this noise come up from nowhere!
+BankaiLP The fact that both ships are literally 2 kms long, the same length of a Reaper Captial ship. Interesting coincidence eh
I like this coincidence a LOT

You are so correct.

Ramirez Zay EVE for you
Ramirez Zay if that's what you are looking for try eve
I'm pretty sure there's potential for a "yo mama" joke in "Capital Class Signature Detected"
Yo mama so large that a captital signature is heard when she flies in
+FTL Captain well done
"Capital Ass Signature Detected"
FTFY
+Joshua White You win lol!
Yo mama's so fat, she has a mass lock factor of 93
the Empire is like: oh we fight these only for combat designed military ships with our diplomacy based luxus spaceliner...
It does have badass blue lazorz tho.
Hey, the forest inside of the ring can do alot of good in combat
Holy shit they are travelling through Warp?! What about the daemonic infestation?
+PetersaberHD One is clearly filthy xenos tech *empire* and I'm sure the other has the correct consecrations in place to make a safe jump.

Now all we need is a hundred more capital ships and ill never play another game again.
So you want to fly through what is the equivalent of the battle at the beginning of SW:RotS
+Emillio Onken Something like that. Yes.
If only EVE Online was not about piloting a spreadsheet and you could purchase lifetime subscription it would be better - you can build, own and pilot capital ships far better.
Just like the ''Battle over Corusant'' ..only with FED and IMP replaced.
The sound effects going on between about 00:12 to 0:29 is some of the most amazing audio work I've heard. Damn that's a "oh fuck" sound. I've watched that part over so many times, chills :P

I imagine that if you're unfortunate enough to fly in front of one of those sudden appearing monsters when they're coming out of slip-space, that you'll be freaking obliterated by them just flying through you.
I love the design of the imperial capital ship. The spinning gravity ring at the back is so unique.
I think it is for gravity isn't it?
literally i see yamato with the same position guns lol
am I the only one who's reminded of star wars battlefront 2 on the original Xbox by this?
Awesome_By_Default fist space mission
Reminds me of the Battle over coruscant
Content like this is awesome. More like this is what ED needs to breakup the monotony that gradually takes place. But more than anything, it gives the game character. The absurdity of it all gives the game a much needed personality that it lacks.

"FNS Thanatos" oh you
I just love the sound and the look when one of these jumps in. It really reminds me of something like Star Trek, Battlestar, and so on when their big ships jumps
It's still the best video about 2 Capital Class Signature Detected! I admire that warning.
This is what CQC should be. Both of these ships launching a ton of fighters (5 vs 5 or 10 vs 10) fighters against one another. The winner will make the other capital ship retreat.

is it me or was neither ship getting damaged
They don't get damaged unless a player intervenes, a player can go and destroy the heat sinks, then at that point the capital ship will jump out to avoid getting destroyed
Jake Campbell I always wish we could see one explode
This is epic and all, but what would really be epicasfuck would be an alien capital ship jumping in. I can't imagine what would happen next.
Squidlz well we have the update for you!
Dude... Fucking time traveler
I think spectacle is the only way to describe this, and I'm all for it.
Just imagining if they ever add the ability to have a capital class ship just flying it around and then entering a compromised Nav Beacon and making this dramatic enterance while making an evil laugh and seeing all the NPC Ships warp out.
The warp in, music, and warning at the beginning is fucking badass. But after that it's like.. Oh ok. Since they don't move an inch...
i love the sounds the capital ships make. and when it says "capital ship detected" is just awesome
"Hi Fed capital ship. oh, i see you brought your friend."
If anyone of you wants to know, there is an almost 50 percent chance of seeing both or at least one capital ship spawning in two high intensity combat zones in Artemis. The combat zones are located around 560 Ls away from the coriolis starport ( I forgot the name of it, but there is only one). 24.2.16
+DeeCee70 I`m sorry, it is not a coriolis starport, it is an orbis starport (Laphrian Shipyard)
Wow got chills when they warped in. Very cool
OMG I didn't think they could BOTH jump in!! that just sooo epic!
I love how much fire power the federal battlecruiser let's out it's like a storm of bullets and lasers.
"Warning, Capital Class Signature Detected
" no shit, thanks for the heads up -.-
Mass effect reapers anyone?
Isn't the Farragut class supposed to have torpedo tubes? It isnt fair how the imperial vessel is the only one with unique heavy weapons.
maaaan i like this horn like sound when capitals enter the battlefields in every space movie/game... wish we could have one capital for our own in this game
i can just imagine playing dueling fates from starwars while watching something like this
Would look alot nicer if you had large impacts on the capital from eachothers fire (shield flares etc)
Since it dosent really look like there fire is doing anything.
But then again this video is several months old so might have been "fixed" by now.
And gotta say the Feds must be breaking some kind of international law with those Epilepsy Lasers.
I like your battle music. I need to find an audio mod that would sub in the Tie Fighter iMUSE soundtrack.
That is the games soundtrack bro...
That sound the capital ships make when they warp in is terrifying
When you hear "Warning: Capital Class Signature Detected" once: Ok, this is bad...
When you hear it twice: AHHHHHHHHH!
Kinda seems like the Federal cruiser is made for sweeping an area of smaller ships while the Imperial Interdictor is an anti-capital battleship, probably built as a direct counter to it
The sound of a capital ship dropping from witchspace raises my blood and puts me in the "time for a real fight" mode I zone hard In a big fight
But capital ships are a whole other beast for me and I LIVE for that rush.

Both, just like me. Got ED, gonna buy cs when released as well :)
MentrySK Both. Im playing ED while SC is in development.
Sounds like a mass-effect reaper when capital ships jump
At some point they need to get those capital ships moving around, not just sitting there. Very cool, but them sluggishly maneuvering about would be way more interesting.
Swidhelm Hopefully they'll make them move around in a patch!
If I saw that...........nope.
+Phillip Betts I'd yep.... but at 50 Km and a bag of popcorn.
Legends says that they are still zapping eachother
I am not sure whether they are fighting or having a disco party onboard
Wow! Trading broadsides just like old times. They really have at each other.
This is easily the most bad ass thing I've ever seen in a video game.
I wish both ships sounded different when the dropped out of witchspace, I imagine the Farragut coming in with a missive explosion sound while the Majestic class comes in very silently but still incredibly loud
If there's one thing this game does well, it's the sound effects.
Imagine if it was a Covenant Super Carrier that warped in like that just outside your planetary defense fleet.
You mean a 29,000 Km alien ship vs two 2km human ships, I would be on the other side of the galaxy to avoid that ship.
Imagine this game with the occulus rift
+Good Guy Salami It has VR support.
But prepare 16GB of RAM for it.
The sound of when them ships came in was epic:D
goddamnit! if there wass a fleet war between the empire and federation, or any of those vs. alliance I'D sit there in amazement
Does that music play in game or was that added to the video?
I need to look into the Game Soundtrack then. Thanks!
+TheSonOfLiberty
That is ingame music. The soundtrack of elite is first class. As is the rest of the sound design.

+ArtanisTheScrub I still don't have the sound track but I'd think it is one of the high intensity engagement songs
they should add battle maneuver for the capital ships. it's kinda strange that they just sit that close and then exchange fire
Amazing! Well caught! Was it just an accident of you being in the right place at the right time or did you know this might happen?
Every time you jump into a zone like this, it's not timing
It's scripted
+Woltiv yes, but the chance of this happening is low. Not VERY RARE, but still.
+Brandon Denson Where was it?
+MashSomeBacon look at the fuckin bio dude
Damn... My respect ;J You did one hell of a video for all not "Elite Dangerous" player =)
What this is, is a battle between a Dyson and an ironing board.
i think the federation doesnt have any horizontal gun aiming so its missing every shot it does however have a shitton of pulse lasers to compensate for no huge blue ones it seems lol
The sound when it jumps in is fucking cool
those ships exiting from hyperspace sounds like the reapers from mass effect
It always seemed to me Farragut was better at fighting off multiple smaller ships, with its numerous fast firing lasers and autocannons with wide arcs, but not so good at fighting other capital ships, having only broadside torpedo tubes which I've never seen fire, and the Majestic being the exact opposite, with those huge deck beam cannons, but having a pretty weak point defense with glaring blind spots
I think the Fed ship looks cooler xP
Covenant of Legions I agree, but both look cool... LONG LIVE THE FEDERATION!!!
LONG LIVE THE FEDERATION
Being an independent pilot, I would... look at it for a minute and, run away. But knowing my level of curiosity, I would shoot at it just to see how fast I die.
i swear to fucking god i shit myself every time a capital ship goes BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRP as it arrives at a battle scene
it's fucking terrifying how big those things are
The federation looks like a star destroyer and the Imperial looks like the combine gunship from Half Life
so who one the staring contest?
The sound of metal tearing through space time
Are the empire and federation at war now?? I thought they were the only ones with massive capital ships!
Shame that you cant have one. Or at least be a part of ones fighter complement.
RevanBladeZ yet
Still yet
I wonder what Odyssey brings up
Allllll that space, And these 2 capital ships park side by side on a casual one.
I like the fact that the imperial ships are nice looking and sleek, "Fancy." Then the federation is more industrial when it comes to ships
what is the soundtrack at 0:38? please...I can't find it
Looks like a dramatic X-mas festival XD
Do the capital ships have larger weapons than the ones seen broadsiding? Or just those tiny laser turrets?
+Dan Bolivar The interdictor has three gigantic beamlasers, about the size of a vulture each.
***** ah, thx
That entrance is terrifying. Reminds me of reapers In mass effect.
"Warning, capital class signature detected"
~Backs up slowly~
"Warning, capital class signature detected"
*Backs up frantically*
0:17 -- pants have been soiled.
Well there should be a super capital ship signature as well
Ah yes...In the vastness of space, several kilometer long behemoths, marvels of technologie and armed to the teeth, fighting each other...at knife distance...
Navigator: Captain, we calculated enemy jump coordinates, shall we engage?
Captain: Of course! Also jump directly next to them...I wanna hit em with my sword!
Man thats the coolest fucking sound ever
They should allow you to walk around your ship and get out of it in space and also make the capital ship flyable
Check out star citizen.. Players are supposedly able to command massive ships like this. It will need a well organized guild or organization of sorts I believe to be effective though.
Ooooh look at those huge ships, wow they are amazing, look at all the guns on them, there must be dozens of guns all over those monster ships...
1:30 "Under Attack"
1:32 RUN AWAY!!!!!!!!! RUN AWAY!!!!!
