    Adding this comment to clear some things up because people keep posting the same questions over and over again, without looking in the comments to see if someone else have asked it already.
    1. Q: Why is there fire in the vacuum of space? A: Because atmospheric gases are leaking from the station where the fires are located.
    2. Q: Why is there sound in Space? A: Because it is a game and it would suck without any sound.
    3. Q: What caused the station to get damaged? A: Stations can get damaged when Thargoids (Alien Species) attack the stations during in game events.
    4. Q: Can players damage/destroy stations? A: No, players can not cause damage to stations as that would break the game completely.
    5. Q: What game is this? A: The title of the video literarily has the name of the game in it.
    6. Q: Can you rescue the citizens of the station? A: Yes you can, if you have passenger cabins in your ship.
    7. Q: Does the station explode after a while? A: No, it doesn't.
    8. Q: Does the station not have weapons so it can defend itself? A: It has, but those weapons are designed to destroy human targets, not aliens, as they requires special weaponry to be dealt with.

      Regarding question 2, I believe (not 100% sure) the in game reasoning is that your ship does sound simulations, to help with situational awareness and things like that. The sounds aren't really there, but your ship uses all available data to approximate the sounds as good as possible

    • @Drakey_Fenix
      @Drakey_Fenix  3 года назад +566

      The game could've been a lot better already. The problem for a lot of players, including me, is that there has been a huge period of content starvation for 6 years now since Horizons came out. There has only been small updates here and there since with quality of life improvements, and that's about it. I don't think anyone would've guessed that the next major update would come in 2021 if you had asked them back in 2015. Let's hope Odyssey can save this game, because the game has lost a lot of players over the years due to the stagnation and lack of content.
      There is also another mistake that I feel Frontier Developments is making. And that is making the game easier and easier every single year to cater to a loud minority of people that whine about grinding being too much. Me and others don't want to see every single star system in the bubble littered with Fleet Carriers and that new players that have just had their account for a week have an Anaconda or Imperial Cutter. As soon as you have to work for your assets, people freak out and complain on all forums and to Frontier themselves. This just makes endgame material feel trivial and not special at all when anyone can get that stuff within a week of grinding.
      It just makes me sour/frustrated to see that when i had to grind for months back in 2014-2015 to just get an ASP Explorer, people now can get an endgame tier ship within a week... It's just broken in every way! Yet people still complain about the grind being too bad, even when it is like this.
      (Edit 2023-01-04) This game is pretty much dead for me, the Odyssey DLC completely flopped and was filled with bugs and did not have enough content to make up for the years of waiting, I won't be returning to this game. If you want to know more about this you can read a comment further down in the replies of this one where I explain why.

    • @ScarletFlames1
      @ScarletFlames1 3 года назад +214

      I am still miffed that it's a FUSION reactor and they're having trouble shutting it down... Just cut power to the fuel injectors or whatever. Those things have extremely small (relative to size) amounts of fuel in them and they run out of fusion material in no time once you stop supplying it. It actually used to be one of the biggest problems of fusion reactors, how to inject more fuel into a closed system that blasts out high energy neutrons?
      Anyhow, if the fusion plasma is exposed to space that means said high energy neutrons are blasting around everywhere causing heat and electromagnetic pulses when they hit things and THAT is the real dangerous thing.
      tl;dr - IRL a malfunctioning fusion reactor won't cause a lot of damage outside of singing (singed, burned, not vocal), starting small fires and frying electronics in a certain range from the exposes plasma as it's simply incapable of doing so out of physical limitation of what a fusion reaction is..

    For context, there is an agressive race of aliens called the thargoids who attack stations occasionally.
    If the thargoids succeed, the station is (mostly) destroyed as you can see.

    Station crew are still in place guiding ships down to land because you can get passenger modules on your ships to evacuate passengers out of the station to a nearby rescue ship for lots of reputation. And yes, the elite dangerous' audio team are top notch. 👍

    • @jonaselze9316
      @jonaselze9316 3 года назад +3

      I think it's because of the games programming. The game needs to designate a specific landing pad for you. Also, It's for the commanders. They see their number and know exactly where to land. Just imagine yourself getting in there with your T9 (Don't ask me why someone should try anf fly THAT into a burning station, but you get my point) and at first you have to search for a bid landing pad manually.
      You might end up trying to get yur Butt down on a medium pad or accidentally flattening some T7 which you didn't see or so. And all that while you only have seconds to plan as your ship is slowly coocking you from the inside...

      Good thing about fusion reactors in general is that they need magnetic confinement to work, and that consumes a lot of energy and have to be geometrically adequate to perform fusion, so a damaged fusion reactor would just shutdown if there is too much damage, it won't explode :D

    • @Drakey_Fenix
      @Drakey_Fenix  3 года назад +86

      @@Kanitoxx Yeah most people don't seem to understand how fusion reactors work. Conditions need to be perfect for fusion to even take place. If you damage a fusion reactor or take away any of the conditions it needs to work, it can no longer sustain fusion and it will simply shut down. • @ccaron91
      @ccaron91 3 года назад +3

      @@SahasaV That is not necessarily the case, think of it like this: stars are essentially self sustaining fusion reactors, so clearly if a reactor is large enough it will sustain itself. If lets say they have a self sustaining reactor that only needed containment and collection (that would be fine in space though definitely not on a planet) then containment was heavily damaged, it would be like releasing a small star. I think that is more or less what is going on here. They have a large (though admittedly much smaller then one would think for this kind of issue) plasma ring that is being magnetically contained, the containment is breached and now it wants to first explode out and then fold into itself like any end of life star would.

    • @Drakey_Fenix
      @Drakey_Fenix  4 года назад +21

      The grind is awful, but it is that way because Frontier Developments designed the game to be played in a way where the ranks just slowly increase while you do other things in the game. And then one day you get surprised with the new rank you got.
      But no one really plays the game in this way and people just want everything at once, which the game wasn't designed for. The game has gotten much easier over the years compared to how it used to be back in 2014, now you can earn enough money for an Anaconda within a few days, which i personally think is wrong. And also seeing almost every system in the human bubble being filled with Fleet Carriers is making something so majestic as a fleet carrier feel like a Sidewinder, it would've been better if they were a squadron based asset instead, as they were proposed to be from the start before people complained.
      There is almost no incentive to play the smaller and mid tier ships anymore due to this imbalance in credit earnings. Back in 2014 a simple mission gave you 200 credits as reward. So you can see how long you would've had to play to gain any traction. But more and more people complained over the years and so things are much easier now. People still want it easier though and complain that the current earnings still is way to grindy.. which i think is sad.
      I have personally left the game and haven't touched it for a year since the announcement of the next content coming to the game in late 2020. I already have everything and once you have everything you kinda lose the urge of wanting to go on. I suggest you get something else to do in the game rather then just wanting the ships, once you have them all you will be bored as fuck as you feel that there is nothing else to work towards. Even exploring which the game is heavily focused on feels really unpolished and once you have seen around 20 planets and landed on a dozen, you have pretty much seen them all, with the only difference being a different sky. (Edit as of 05/09/2020, the upcoming content was pushed back into 2021)
      (Another edit as of 2023-01-04) The DLC Odyssey failed and not enough players were brought back into the game. The DLC was filled with bugs and had lacking content, considering the years we had to wait. Frontier Developments have put Elite Dangerous on life support with no more major content updates planed. I am done with this game.

      I agree with that for the most part.
      My take agree: Who knows what's out there to find? See, for me, that's the gameplay. See, I grew up watching Star Trek. The Star Ship Enterprise was one ship mainly (There were a few others). That one ship (There were a few others) for years kept exploring. Has anyone ever wondered why FD, would add so few of ships into such a vast Galaxy? Something tells me, it is way much more about what's out there, than just the ships we can acquire. I think I read or heard it mentioned that FD wanted us to get out of the bubble and go exploring,... even to expand the Bubble (gameplay). But, how many are actually trying to do that? My take disagree: Why would I stop with ED (because of acquiring all the ships) when there is so much more to do than acquire ships and upgrade them? It's not always the case for everyone after they get all the ships they want to consider that as the end-game. If anything, its the wanting and getting the ships (I want) that are keeping me from exploring what's out there in the Galaxy of ED; 400 billion star systems (Only a very, very, very tiny bit of it is even touched).
      I see ED, as being much much bigger than that.
      I can understand why after acquiring all the ships and upgrades, can be the end-game for some when that is all they really sought after. I guess that's fine too,... for "them".

      @@xxGjbbyxx The issue is that once you have seen around 20 to 30 planets you have pretty much seen them all. They all look the same and so does the surface when you land on them, It is just barren surfaces with random points of interests that you see on every planet over and over again. Exploring could be so much more in this game but instead it is an unpolished/limited section of the game. For a game that promotes 400 billion star systems in a 1.1 scale Milky Way galaxy, It is remarkably unfinished and boring. I have probably spent around 500 hours alone on being down on planets and surveying. I just burned out on it and the whole game in general. The new content update called Odyssey has to contain a lot of new game play mechanics and interesting features to bring me back to the game and the same goes for a lot of other players that have burned out for similar reasons.

      @xxGjbbyxx 4 года назад +2

      @@Drakey_Fenix That's not how I see it. I have seen well over 20 different bodies, and continue to see more all the time. When I got into Elite it was because I had gotten a VR HMD, and many reviews used ED as a showcase for the VR HMDs. But what I didn't know was that ED, wasn't just a game. Sure it has some gameplay elements, but once I realized that its a Space Sim with a 1:1 scale of our real Galaxy, I realize what I had gotten into. No way should planets (moons) have much more on them than what they already have. Actually, there are no stations on those planets (moons) (and Earth-like planets with theorized vegetation may be ok too, I guess,... it depends on how overboard they go with it) in real life, so I get what I expect to see when I travel to them in-game. Now what the game presents as possibilities as far as compositions and whatnots, and a few stations is as far as I can go for realism. I hope that FD keeps ED as close to reality, as possible (I know for some that may make it boring). If I want anything more, then I'd turn to NMS, or SC. So after my many hours of being in ED basically on a daily basis, I'm not bored of it at all. I see ED as a space simulator with some gaming elements. Why I asked, why would FD put so little amount of ships in a game with 400 billion star systems in it (It's virtually a replica of what we have in real life; Our Galaxy). When I look at our sun, our moon, the stars in the night sky, I am amazed, at what I can do in ED, that I can't (or won't) do in real life. I've seen many pictures from other players that show something that I have yet to see, all the time also. So, I have the thought; I want to go there and see it for myself. And how can I say, that all has been seen when we've not yet explored 0.05% of the map.
      I realize how minuscule of an amount that is. We haven't seen anything yet. I'd say with that small of an amount, we're still looking at the cake, so how can we know the flavor as far as exploration goes?! I want exploration. Give me exploration.

    A Fusion Reactor is just a micro-sun in ring Form. The Fusion happens when we put Tritium ( which is part of Hydrogen ) and He3 ( Helium 3 ) in a chamber and ignite it. Then the magnetic fields are holding the more then a few MILLION Degree hot Plasma in a Flow. Some of the Radiating Heat is used to generate power. The Rest goes out through the Radiators located just behind the ( now broken ) habitation ring.
    So if the Stations reactor has a breach it would be smarter to just shut down it down...I mean come one, you can SEE the Plasma rotating and if you fly near it you get baked...so why is it still online, dont they have reservepower?

    • @CouldYouYesnt
      @CouldYouYesnt 3 года назад +2

      Perhaps, but consider also the station is *damaged*, it's entirely possible they CAN'T shut down the reactor, considering the damage that area took

      The grinding isn't that bad. The game is considered by many now as too easy. Back in the day a mission would give you 200 credits, now a similar mission can give a 100,000 credits. The fact that you can get an Anaconda within a week is a joke. Endgame content should take months to get. I don't want to see every star system littered with fleet carriers as any player can get them fairly easy. They were supposed to be squadron based assets that everyone worked together for.

    The station has an artificial atmosphere once you pass through the mailslot, it can sustain human life and would sustain a fire too. Your ship does have its own artifical atmosphere too, which apparently is used to help your ship pass sound to the pilot (in addition to keeping you breathing ofc)
    If your canopy is breached you lose your artifical atmosphere, and lose a lot of audio (only having what you hear from your suit, that being your breathing and a muffled covas), but entering the artifical atmosphere in a station stops your reliance on emergency oxygen and gives you audio again.
