I've been wanting to do this to my '99 and wasn't sure until I saw this. Thanks for the info and the hands-on approach to the video. I think I'm going to do this mod and try to install higher performance brakes at the same time. Good video bro!
Thanks for the video I have a 98 extended cab tacoma been wanting to do a drop and I'm definitely going to start looking for this djm lowering kit for my tacoma
Thank you brother for the thorough video, very much appreciated! I have this exact kit on the way so this video will do wonders for the install. I was actually going to pay someone to do this but after watching the video, I’ll save myself $500. Take care friend!
It’s almost 2am, came across this video and damn! Had to stay up and watch it cause I was excited that it was over 30min vid! Def brought back memories when I worked on mines😆 actually took 4 days for me to do this job on my 03 tacoma. I did this during the winter cold almost a year ago and I live in an apartment complex with no garage… wouldn’t get home from work till 330pm and I’d have an hour and a half to work on my truck till sun went down. Man it was brutal! Had to make sure I put all my tools away and truck back on the ground so nothing got stolen! Also with that factory shaft I ended up using a two arm pulley to get that f*cking thing out. Got a nice ball joint removal set from harbor freight for a good deal that came in handy. All about having the right tools to getting the job done right! Bunch of banging and torching later…. But you’re right man the rear was such a breeze. Wish the front could’ve been like that🤣 great video tho. You’re a gotdam beast💪🏾
That pickup looks hella nice, I have one, 2011. And I’ve been trying to get the truck a good look. I went with off-road look because that’s the style I wanted, but since it’s a 5lug taco I don’t have much options out there to fix it up like a 4x4 like the 6lug tacos. When I found out that you can drop em, I was intrigued. I do like the low riders.just cruising it. And I like cruising it on my truck. I’m really excited to get this kit. These are meant to be dropped not lifted.
Could original bushings be used in those new JDM control arms? Personally, in other vehicles I have worked with those rubber bushings and they do not have enough useful life and even more so in a component that is in constant vibration and direction control
How are the ball joints holding with them being changed from their original position? I want to lower mine with this kit but the safety and longevity of the lower ball joints worries me
Hey man, I appreciate the video. My truck is the same year and color and I'm planning on lowering it in the next couple of months as well! I was wondering what bumper you have on the front? I prefer your look to mine (which has the chrome insert)
@@luieflores5915 same here bro, I have a 96 and I would like to make the front end look like yours, very nice and clean , where is the bumper from ?? Thank you
Hey I’m getting this kit soon from dim wedsite and are you sure I don’t have to cut anything and also my shocks are bad and I wanna replace it .does it have to be lowering shock or can it’s be any shock?
Because of this video, I decided to do this project myself. 04 Tacoma. My question is. I still have my stock wheels on it and I am rubbing on the top on the plastic liner. ( when I hit bumps) did you remove yours. I’m still deciding to go 17” or 18”.
Love your projects Very nice Can you please share the front end info I’m interested on getting the same front end as yours Or anyone that has the info please thank you 🙏🏼 nice work guys 🙏🏼
is the 97 front bumper almost flush with the grille stock? I have a 98 and the front bumper sticks out about 5" from the grille and I think the flush look your truck has is so much cleaner looking so I'm wondering if its a mod you did or does it come like that stock?
Btw how’s it riding after a month? Noticed any squeaking? My sh*t squeaks like crazy bro! Over bumps and in/out of the truck It’s embarrassing… What grease you use?
Thanks for the video brotha! This is probably the only video that shows it all thanks! I just got my kit last week and cant wait to install it!!

Im glad to know that these would fit on my 96 singlecab tacoma ..definitely next project on the ol reliable

Well done , very informative !! Trucks looks great too !!
That light bar on the front is sick as well!

oh hey i see you’ve done the same thing to your tacoma as i have an 03 and so is there anything you can tell me that’ll help lowering it?
@@fantom1422 what do you mean? This kit is one way to lower. Ball joint flips. Coil overs in the front blocks in the rear
@@xXPeRFecTz oh yea i get that i meant to say whats some issues i could experience or have problems with while lowering it
Finally appreciate this vid brotha 🤙🏽
Nice work, looks sick!

Good job bro! Truck looks good any new updates?
Thank you for the video you're right there's no videos explaining this kit.
By the way rims are badass but what offset are they

Officially a tacuatche !
Nice pickup 👍👍👍
Dope video bro!
Drop a link to the kit, ya quiero andar trokeando
Thank you
Could original bushings be used in those new JDM control arms? Personally, in other vehicles I have worked with those rubber bushings and they do not have enough useful life and even more so in a component that is in constant vibration and direction control
Quick question bro, did you just drill the traction bar? What about the bracket that goes on top of it? The one that holds the break line in place
Nice
Thank you for the video. I'm considering doing the same thing to my 99 taco. Question... Did you have to get different shocks than stock?
I just order the ones djm offered. We will see how long they last
How are the ball joints holding with them being changed from their original position? I want to lower mine with this kit but the safety and longevity of the lower ball joints worries me
Love what you did for the truck looks great. Any info on the grill ?
The grill is off of a 98 prerunner I just got a land cruiser front logo from the 80’s and plastic weld it together.
Did you any special shims or camber kit to get the alignment?
No it all worked out with the oem shims. That upper control arm was design to make it perfect.
brother where do you place the jack in order to lift the front?
Where did you get that grill from ?
How much did the kit and struts cost Im trying to drop my 97 this spring
Hey man, I appreciate the video. My truck is the same year and color and I'm planning on lowering it in the next couple of months as well! I was wondering what bumper you have on the front? I prefer your look to mine (which has the chrome insert)
Thanks bro. I think u got the fancier one. I also did the prerunner grill with land Cruiser logo gave it a better look.
What’s the color called ?
@@luieflores5915 same here bro, I have a 96 and I would like to make the front end look like yours, very nice and clean , where is the bumper from ?? Thank you
The bumper cam from factory like that..
Hey I’m getting this kit soon from dim wedsite and are you sure I don’t have to cut anything and also my shocks are bad and I wanna replace it .does it have to be lowering shock or can it’s be any shock?
I saw you wheels are 17x8 and 17x9 what is the offset of these?
I ran the same kit on my 00 Tacoma bout 2-3 years ago. My only complaint was how stiff the ride was from the shocks
Yes it bottoms out real quick on bumps when I have a passenger I’m only 130lbs so it does good with me!
Nice Taco! I have the same exact year and color. You've got me thinking about lowering her.
How did this kit hold up 2 years later?
Still doing good. Only thing I been thinking of doing is c notching the rear frame. It does bottom out sometimes but not bad
Bro I been looking into a little nissan or toyota but they hold their value lol
Yea bro they make good dds
Gas efficient and you could carry stuff with no problem 🙌
Keep looking bro I got a deal like 2 weeks ago got a 03 Tacoma 2.4l 170k manual for 3.5k fausto_sicc2sicc if u want to see what I repaired on it
But I was looking for like 1 whole year bro no lie
Hi, what size are your tires?
Wow man
I’m curious what you did about the front springs. Did you change them? This will be my first time lowering a vehicle
No didn’t change them. It rides ok so I guess I lucked out lol
Can I get the kit number trying to get those lowering blocks thanks in advance

The bumper came like that. The grill I got a prerunners one and the logo from the land cruiser and plastic weld it together
I love the rims bro. May i ask what is the tire and rim size?
Front are 17-8 tire 225/45
Rear 17-9 tire 255/40
Love it luis, do you happen to know the offset?
what are the size of the wheels?
Nice video dude. Ill be ordering my kit now. Where do you live?
I’m in rogers Arkansas
is the 97 front bumper almost flush with the grille stock? I have a 98 and the front bumper sticks out about 5" from the grille and I think the flush look your truck has is so much cleaner looking so I'm wondering if its a mod you did or does it come like that stock?
That one came stock idk why they did that longer one..
Bro you need more subscribers.😪
Slow n steady bro. I’m still not good enough lol
What are your wheel specs?
HI, can you tell me the angle of the tie rod ends on your truck? Ours is angled up quite a bit
They did angle some but nothing to crazy.
What Shock did you get?
Hey dude any updates on how the ride is? Do the blocks make it uncomfortable over harsh rods or big bumps?
Not at all, this thing feels about the same if not better.
Quick question around how long did it take before you got the suspension stuff delivered
Just about a week.
What grill is that?
Size shocks ? Ex: (1900)
When you got it aligned, did you have a problem with camber?
No it was all good
I have bad squeaking noise!!
Do u think is cuzzz I didn’t replace the socks ?? @Luie Flores 🙏
👍
Where did you get that replacement front bumper?
Some 96- 97 came like that from factory
Hey bro do you have a different bumper because I like how it’s all flush mine pops out looks kinda weird
No sir, should be the oem. I think some came with that look u have.
Fs thanks man !! I’ll probably just switch it out then thanks man
Omg where did you get that sway bar ?
Just the oem one. Just paint it yellow
How long did it take for the djm parts to arrive
One week. I contact them an they said they had them in stock
Hey what’s up how much did you pay for that kit
I think it’s like $350-400. It’s cheaper on the djm website
Don’t 2jz swap it, throw some boost at the rz. I’ve got mine on 7lbs and it’s a super fun ride.
What turbokit did you go with for the 2rzfe?
I built my own .

@@luieflores5915 nice I actually tackled mines after watching your vid… got rid of the squeak👍🏽
You need to take off those mud flaps😮
Bro where did you buy your front bumper and grill?
Bumper is oem. I custom made the grill with a 98 prerunners grill n the 80s Toyota Land Cruiser logo.
