Even with just a 4 cylinder, they have nice acceleration. The problem is they have no weight in the rear and hydroplane extremely easy.... I learned that from doing a 360 shortly after it rained. Luckily no other cars were around me.

URD is a great company that makes quality products. I'm glad they make a supercharger kit for the 2.7. In my opinion it's way more interesting to have a blown 4 banger sleeper/work truck than a lot of other vehicles out there.
i literally have to buy these because all other tacomas that have v6 have short beds like 4ft like the trd 4wd is only four door and manual v6 but bed it is too short. is the power on these good when you put the supercharger?

I am curious. For you guys out there in Cali, what kind of alarm system can you pick up to prevent cool cars like the ones from this channel from being stolen?
travisp11 doesn't really apply to me because most of the Mexicans in my area know how to drive manual 😂 maybe if I got an automatic they wouldn't want to drive it for being boring lmao
My friend's 90 something non vtec Honda just got stolen from our work. The bad news was a couple grand and 10 yrs of tools were in the trunk. I honestly think, if I were really worried about cat theft, I'd go old school, hi quality club. Simple and efficient.
What a great add on for a Tacoma truck. The exhaust is rorty, close in sound to an older M.G B sports car, pleasant with out a harsh rasp like some four cylinder engines have.Definitely a different daily driver.
yeah, but the ranger 4.0L has more torque. 225+/- vs 180 (2011) i had a 95 xlt ranger with the 4.0L v6 and have a 2010 Tacoma 2.7l now and the taco is NUTLESS compared to pretty much everything. the 4 banger taco needs some kind of forced induction from the factory or Toyota needs to drop the engine completely.
Welll...... I'm talking strictly 4 cylinders here. Just about any well maintained 6 will smoke a 2TR-FE Tacoma. But, a 2TR Tacoma will smoke any other stock 4 banger truck out there. (which isn't much to brag about, cause anything will smoke an Iron Duke). I actually raced someone in a 98 Mazda pickup with the 3.0 Ford motor, and smoked them. That's the day he discovered he had a clogged fuel filter lol
LS is smaller. Probably woulda fit. A junkyard 5.3 with a junkyard duramax turbo and then buying the legit supporting stuff like the ECU and piping and such would net about 400-500 wheel for around the same price. If he went rear/bed/mid mount with the turbo, it might not even need an intercooler.
Drunken Hamster Shit a 5.3 with H,C,I and some 11:1 pistons would do that. Still be able to run pump gas with no turbo, piping, tuning involved. Clean and easy.
H,C,I on a 5.3 with 11:1 pistons and nothing else aside from tuning for those mods will net 400-500 WHEEL through an auto with 4wd? Or a straight cut sequential with RWD only? What about the power CURVE? The redline? Does that castrate the bottom end? And do you mean premium, or could one run regular/midgrade in that setup?
It's a 4 cylinder reg cab short bed RWD so it weighs like 2900lbs.. It's a toyota so it won't break, i think this build is actually very cool and makes a lot of sense. Also it's body on frame.. Like any truck and oh ya any Corvette... So it's extremely rigid. This man is intelligent and he knew that the 4 cylinder rwd regular cab short bed would have decent weight distribution for a truck and with the right amount of performance added to that equation it'd transform into the fun RWD toyota vehicle we miss so much. No surprise that some don't get it though, kinda hard to wrap your head around if you're not a car nerd. I'd love to see this build be done to a 1st gen 5 cylinder RWD reg cab short bed manual transmission chevy colorado: Again, very light, body on frame construction, rwd relatively good weight distribution, great power from the 5 cylinder. Loads of potential! Just lower it add tire, add power, add mechanical grip and you've got a fun Ute xD
You children are so mad at Matt for giving an honest review 😂😂 he complimented the truck the whole time. Questioning how many of these SC kits URD sold and hating on the idea of sport trucks isn’t insulting this guys build.
Yeah I've been driving a 94 Integra GSR with 8-pound flywheel for over a quarter million miles. It definitely takes practice to drive smoothly, especially with the A/C on because it drags the RPM down super fast when shifting. But it can be done and it's not a huge deal.
I feel this guy. His criteria for builds hits me where I live. I mean, I wanna turn my high mileage daily (01’ LS430) into a race car someday when I retire it. I just crave substance from every vehicle I own. Even if others don’t see potential or worth, I do.
In almost all applications. I easily saw an increase, and my truck has over 200k miles and is 14 years old. You have to be disciplined on the pedal though.
Cool, I have a v8 00 tundra with 260k on it. Been playing with the idea of boosting it just for shits and giggles. Was your SC a kit? I got a Avalon and Camry with v6s I've also been thinking about boosting
This is a repost. He had this this truck and guy on The Smoking Tire on a year or two ago. Come on dude! I love your videos and how badass you seem to be. Why pose this truck as a new review and drive? This guy says the exact same shit as the first time you did a one take on it...
I'm getting a 2.7 auto in January. I have run 2 test cars with Marvel Mystery oil in the gas 4 OZ's and in the oil . Also switched to severe Amsoil transfluid with Militec 1 in that. I add 1 oz of Militec 1 to my Marvel in the gas. Friction is supposed to be 27% of an engine so these 2 proven friction reducers and the MMO cleaning additives give me added compression which someone tested on a Cavalier on the nest. I havn't been on a Dyno but I can pull away with my 2004 Cavalier and do 7 sec 0-60 now. My MPG has been increased in summer temps at 60 mph 2 -3 hours freeway on cruise for testing. I consistently show over 2 years a gain of 11.4 mpg ....stock when new is 31-32 mpg now 43.4 on long tests. I BELIEVE like Arron Nevile said.....that I can take that 2.7 to 34 mpg and increase the hp and torque on a 0-60 which is slow stock. I will be changing all the fluids to Amsoil and using M1 in trans and rear and motor to start them conditioning. I will use my super formula of Marvel + Militec 1 OZ in each bottle . My mechanic uncle used it for 55 years especially in the arctic for starts.....developed in 1923 and I had an engineer on the net break down the 5 chemicals and one is a friction reducer. WHAT_____do you think ??
You know, if they made a small to mid size {{an S10 being small, and a current gen Colorado being on the low end of mid size}} unibody truck with independent suspension that had a locking swaybar to make it act like a solid axle when you needed to tow, and a rear bulkhead that could convert twice, once each for an extra row of seating, while consequently making the bed smaller, that would literally be the only vehicle I'd ever need. Especially if it had a turbo diesel with a squarebore design at about 625cc/cyl, was reasonably aerodynamic, lower than the average truck, and good looking, and came with AWD as an option, with a rear mount transaxle and a torque tube like a Corvette for weight distribution purposes. Perfect vehicle. Maximum of three rows of seating, minimum of 1, open top cargo area of varying sizes depending on seating needs, fuel efficient, powerful enough when tuned, extremely versatile and utilitous, while also being sporty. Perfect, perfect, perfect.
Certainly interesting. Obviously this guy has a lot of envy for powerful Aussie utes... I never understood modding a truck for street performance, kinda like trying to make a 747 a fighter jet...but hey to each their own.

I've got a 2013 tacoma, also fleet model with the 5spd standard (only in white), and this supercharger is now top of my list on planned mods!
I am curious. For you guys out there in Cali, what kind of alarm system can you pick up to prevent cool cars like the ones from this channel from being stolen?
travisp11 manual transmission lmao
Hernan Medrano True!!
travisp11 doesn't really apply to me because most of the Mexicans in my area know how to drive manual 😂 maybe if I got an automatic they wouldn't want to drive it for being boring lmao
My friend's 90 something non vtec Honda just got stolen from our work. The bad news was a couple grand and 10 yrs of tools were in the trunk. I honestly think, if I were really worried about cat theft, I'd go old school, hi quality club. Simple and efficient.
(I left the "cat" theft because I thought it was funny)
I am not a truck guy by any means, but that is a nice truck.
Does it bother anyone else that the rear wheels arent centered in the wheel wells
Rob Ferreira
Not in the least. Spend decades in the paddock and youll learn its a sign of form taking a back seat to function.
Rob Ferreira me
Gordon Greninger what the fuck is a paddock?
What a great add on for a Tacoma truck. The exhaust is rorty, close in sound to an older M.G B sports car, pleasant with out a harsh rasp like some four cylinder engines have.Definitely a different daily driver.
stock this 4 cyl makes as much HP as my 4.0L ranger.... FUCK!!
TheeJoeyLee Yeah the Ranger is about the only vehicle this truck can take on stock.
yeah, but the ranger 4.0L has more torque. 225+/- vs 180 (2011)
i had a 95 xlt ranger with the 4.0L v6 and have a 2010 Tacoma 2.7l now and the taco is NUTLESS compared to pretty much everything. the 4 banger taco needs some kind of forced induction from the factory or Toyota needs to drop the engine completely.
TheeJoeyLee Same with my straight 6 jeep
Nowhere near the torque though. My 03 s10 with the 4.3 makes 190 hp BUT 250 ft lbs
I liked the truck and didn't think it was weird personally.
He probably could have dropped a Lexus V8 in it for $4,000, if it'd fit.
Timothy Baxter Probably too wide. If it did fit, a Coyote would be better.
Timothy Baxter yea that'd be boring
Reminds me of my 08 Colorado. It's had 3.7 5 inline then I supercharged it. So much fun but I went thru three motors within 4 years
Sleeper
sleeper!
I have a 2017 Tacoma trd pro in a manual and I cant wait for a super charger to become available. Like the set up. Looks fun to drive haha
A supercharger with a blow off valve
Do more odd balls like these. Awesome truck
Cool truck, good to see more sport trucks on here.
You children are so mad at Matt for giving an honest review 😂😂 he complimented the truck the whole time. Questioning how many of these SC kits URD sold and hating on the idea of sport trucks isn’t insulting this guys build.
I had to go threw some crappy ass truck videos and I finnally found a bad ass truck video
People who complain about manual gearbox cars in traffic, or for commuting, are straight up wimps.
Patrick94GSR ty, I deal with Atlanta traffic everyday shifting gears and plus the newer cars with sticks are becoming easier to drive.
How common is improved MPG when you supercharging a car? Heard this claim numerous times on toyota trucks
I got a Avalon and Camry with v6s I've also been thinking about boosting
manuel luz depends on how much throttle you can restrain from afterwards
manuel luz
Yes, it's a TRD s/c. It's a stage 3, if you will. Smaller 2.2" pulley and a 7th injector kit - seeing about 10 lbs of boost.
manuel luz
I'd imagine the way it works can be summarized as "because you don't need to push the engine as hard to go the same speeds"
THAT SHIFTER KNOB at 1:33 WHERE IS IT FROMMMMMMM????????
Fudemae
Gotta love Tacoma's and thats why im building a prerunner!
Needed that super charger just to get to the speed limit 😂
Good guy Matt linking the evo video in the description
Thank Mr. Farrah.
You should do a review for a Ford Falcon Ute XR6 Turbo Matt!
Straight 6
4 litres
Roughly 240kw
Proper seats.. 😂
47th good ol barra!
Im swapping my 2wd rangers 4.0 v6 to a BARRA 4.0 inline 6 soon
A 747 fighter jet sounds awesome.
You just explained why people add street mods on pickups
mini trucks are awesome I remember a guy with a 5.0 ranger was awesome
ChaosphereIX speed and practically in one package. What's not to understand?
ChaosphereIX I saw a 747 do a barrel roll once. Once.
