As a Dart owner I feel like the red headed step child or the Rodney Dangerfield of the Mopar world . No respect. It's not a Challenger, or a Charger, or A Super Bee. Fuck it man. I love my Dart.
I still have my 1970 Nova that I got in 1976 when I was 16. The Nova was also designed to be economical transportation. Started out as a 230 Straight 6 with 3 speed column shift. My dad and I swapped in a 327 and 4 speed. Simple and easy to work on. Great little muscle car. I remember seeing lots of Darts and always liked the body styling. Had a friend with a 1971 Dart Demon with a 340.
I love cars like this. Simple, clean, not overdone. Some people just do too much but this one is just right. I think I watched this and the one about the blue Chevel (may have been an impala) like 10 times each.
Redline Rider The new Dart , and they should have spelled it in quotes, im pretty sure is a platform mate to the Toyoa Corolla. Same as the Chevy Cruise.
you guys at alloy are my gods....I have been dreaming last few years about building a 67-69 dart... I have never seem anything more perfect and in tune with what I've had in my head last few years...minus a 440 love this car
I know it's two years later but what happened to the car? You still have it? I think for going for simple clean and mean, you guys did awesome. it's classy.
+Rob Le Comte A lot of the new media producers have no idea what a good sound engineer does. Compression and levels are to audio what salt and spices are to cooking. I feel like I have already built up callus from constantly adjusting the volume of podcasts, youtube videos, streams, etc. It's the opposite extreme of what radio and TV engineers do, which is flattening everything to exactly the same blaring volume - an over-compressed mash where a whisper is the same level as a scream. But at least you can understand what people are saying 100% of the time. It seems like nobody cares about hitting the right balance anymore.
When I was in the Army (1970, Ft. Sill, OK) I bought a 1969 Dodge Dart GTS with a 383, 4bbl., and Hurst 4 speed. Dark green with a black vinyl roof. Stock wheel caps and red line tires. And I put headers on it. Then they sent me to Germany, so I took the car home. But my Dad decided to sell it and I never saw it again.
My grandmother had a Dodge Dart Swinger, would love to come across one when I’m able to afford one in remembrance of her and it’s just a all around beautiful car
Very cool video the direction and ideas were on point with the whole character thing, I love the grungy city coverage & especially loved the Dart!! well done everyone!
My second car was a 68 dart with 318. Mopar fan ever since. I love the 68 because of the round front marker lights and the top of the fender signal indicators that faced the driver.
A friend of mine had a Dart beautiful car with a 340 in it.But one of the most underrated Mopar cars that has so much potential in it when done right like this one here.
As much as I love well done show cars, this is the style of car I would want to build for myself. It looks nice enough but you don't have to be afraid of driving and enjoying it. I love those bare black cop wheels. It really gives it a sinister look. Those are the wheels I would use if I had my own project.
Great to see Big Muscle back, and have to say again it's nice to see the full videos. Great job with the filming, both in this video and other Drive and TST stuff. Lots of great camera angles and cuts that are well above par for the RUclips world, and would hold up well, even surpass some bigger budget stuff. One critique is inconsistency in audio levels from scene to scene, which others have mentioned, plus has been in other Drive and TST videos of late. It makes for some contrast as the video is so good. I appreciate you probably don't have dedicated audio guys and it's the video guys trying to figure it out.
Wow! Great episode. I have to be honest, I quit watching any of the /Drive shows when it switched to Drive +. I'm back on board now! This is what I'm talking about! Great show!!!!!
I love the part when the owner of Alloy says, "I can do this myself and I can do this better than something that cost mega dollars." That's kind of how I started learning about muscle cars. Awesome video!
He is right alot of us B body guys look down on the Dart, but lately I have been showing them some love. They are small and Light and when you drop a big motor in them, they Rock on the drag strip. I have been wanting to drop the 6.2 Hellcat motor in one, can you imagine a 3200 pound car with a 707 horsepower monsters in it. Yeah now that's what I'm talking about
A well built up oldy car that looks like it was built yesterday and sold tomorrow might be my dream weekender. 60s Dart with a smallish, turbocharged engine with a slightly ratty exhaust, some lightening, and safety upgrades (seatbelts and airbags of the kaboom kind) perhaps. My dream car.
Where the metal panel is at the top of the door, paint would wear through from propping your elbow there, then your sweat would start the rust speckles in the paint. Finally it was have a big slick rusty patina where you arm rested. I loved the '67-'68 Darts.
this car speaks to me, Its actually my new favorite, I may only be 15 but I have an insain passion for cars, and to see this car, and to appriciate it.This puts a smile on ny face
+Beau Lancey yep, they're out there if you don't mind 4-door you can find amazingly good Mopars for dirt I just picked up an insanely clean 1973 B-body Dodge Coronet for under $1,000... zero rust (arizona car), and it runs
Great vid Mike and Co. Aussie viewers recognize this car as a Valiant , I think VJ or VH model , Nice car looks like a great no nonsense driver . I always liked that shape even though I'm a Ford guy.
Very nice. Big muscle needs to air weekly because its a great show. I watch all cars shows, but this just connects to me. Being from the "hood" and all.
LOVE the rake, love the murdered out look, but goodness, that front sway bar terrifies me - it looks like it could get hooked on something and tear the whole front end off!
As someone who lives on the east coast where the climate and road conditions are not perfect for getting the best out of a tightly-tuned machine, I appreciate that this program does not exist solely on California canyon roads. Although It's fun to see a car storming down a twisty two-lane, this episode (as well as the Philadelphia one, and the Brooklyn two-parter) show that a muscle car rumbling slowly down a city block can have it's own special appeal.
Always been a Dart guy. Had a '65 GT back in the day with a 273 HP and a four speed. Bought it from the origianl owner. Still had the factory wheel covers. The block was stamped with a Maltese cross and a triangle (along with the "273HP"). Loved that car. It was faster than it should have been. In late '68 I street raced a '69 Barracuda 340 and it was dead even (rolling start). My next Dart was a '67 with a 273HP too and it wasn't as fast. But - red - Mopar dog dishes on black steel. Sweet but the '65 was something special somehow.
In the parlance back then "HP" was "High Performance". On the little wedges (273, second gen 318, 340) CI was stamped on the block just under the right head. If it said "273 HP" you had a HiPo 273 with an AFB, solid lifters, big cam and dual point distributor. If it said "273" it was a grocery getter. Same with the 383s and stuff back then only it was stamped on top by the distributor. On the 273 HPs, if you also had a Maltese cross and/or a triangle stamped under the CI it meant something else but I don't remember what at this point - different jjournal size or something about the rods or like that.
+IT'SME I'm very well aware. If you know Mopars from that period, the 4spd was identical across all lines (except the hemi cars, different input shaft I believe) and most of he cars came with a 3.23 rear gear. Both these cars were 3.23 according to the broadcast sheet on the red '67 and by having changed the '65 to a six spyder limited slip myself.
I'm a MOPAR guy, through-and-through, and my favorite MOPAR's are the A-bodies. The Dodge Dart too the Plymouth Duster and Scamp, these things could perform, and look badass while doing it.
BloodstainedSinner What a lot of these younger guys don't know about today is that little 340 that came in many of those A bodies. It was a powerhouse. I know because I owned one. 70 Dart Swinger 340, factory 4 speed. Loved it.
BloodstainedSinner Its mostly because the Charger, Challenger, Cuda, and Road Runner have taken up most of the spotlight because of how big they are and how movies and TV shows use them more. Hoping to by my first car this summer, been driving my mom's 97 STS which will more then likely go to my sister once she gets her Driver's license. There are some 1969 and 1973 darts for sale for around 3500 close to where I live which seem to be in good condition more then likely will buy the 1969. Also some 1973-74 Dusters for sale as well, which I really like the styling but there around 4500-5500.
boy do i love and old school Chrysler no matter what they are, and while i'm not a Dart person in particular i do love the fact that they just look like a more compact version of the Roadrunner. sort of shows that mentality behind the design of the car -keep it simple keep it cheep- where they just took something that already worked, cut it down a little, and sold it. awesome
Beautiful and that gloss black makes that ride look classy as it does sinister. The satin accents are perfect. I'd love to own a car like that. Need 500+hp though.
A Mopar fan who doesn't like Darts is not a Mopar fan
You cant hate a dart their automatically badass
I don't like the new ones
As a Dart owner I feel like the red headed step child or the Rodney Dangerfield of the Mopar world . No respect. It's not a Challenger, or a Charger, or A Super Bee. Fuck it man. I love my Dart.
@@Statimtek I don't know what you're talking about... People love all three of my Darts!
@@Statimtek Have had five 68 Chargers over the years...but I keep coming back to the Darts.....!!!!
rarely see an old restored car with the right rims
+Adrian Fidi Thats because the rap guys put 20-24 inch chrome bling blings on it and ricer guys put BBS yobo rims on them.
RtdXyron
because rap guys and ricers are restoring old dodge darts?
peacexisxfree No but he didn't say it had to be Dodge Darts only.
hate to tell you, but low profile tires are always better handling wise. i dont like the look of huge slimy rubber on my cars
*****
thanks

Mike, sorry but you never gave the guy credit for an awesome paint job that black looks like its gonna run onto the floor
that dart is sinister
I love cars like this. Simple, clean, not overdone. Some people just do too much but this one is just right. I think I watched this and the one about the blue Chevel (may have been an impala) like 10 times each.
This has been my favorite Big Muscle episode so far. You guys do a great show.
Best looking Dart. ever.
FINALLY someone did a dart! Awesome car
The new dart looks like a joke
Redline Rider The new Dart , and they should have spelled it in quotes, im pretty sure is a platform mate to the Toyoa Corolla. Same as the Chevy Cruise.
They should've changed the name of that car to the new neon.........
Foreal bro its a fuckin joke
You aint lyin what where they thinkin?
Redline Rider Ikr
Glad that I'm re-subscribed to one of the BEST hot car shows goin'!!!
Thanks BM and crew - looking forward to the next!!!!!!!!
Great video, one of the best! What Mike said towards the end about customising and modifying cars really speaks to me. It's what I've done with my car
you guys at alloy are my gods....I have been dreaming last few years about building a 67-69 dart... I have never seem anything more perfect and in tune with what I've had in my head last few years...minus a 440
love this car
+Darius Bliss thanks man.
I know it's two years later but what happened to the car? You still have it?
I think for going for simple clean and mean, you guys did awesome. it's classy.
Enjoyed the video, but you guys may want to work on balancing the audio levels. The interview of the build was way low.
Rob Le Comte Agreed.
Rob Le Comte Yeah I kept having to turn it up when the owner was talking, then Musto starts yelling out of nowhere.
Rob Le Comte Agreed.

True art. Love the channel! Keep the bad ass cars rolling!!!

Cool car.
I've been daily driving a 1968 Dodge Dart for the past, 14 years. Can totally relate to this car. Thanks for sharing.
Kevin Griffitts
My grandmother had a Dodge Dart Swinger, would love to come across one when I’m able to afford one in remembrance of her and it’s just a all around beautiful car
How is it as a daily?
Very cool video the direction and ideas were on point with the whole character thing, I love the grungy city coverage & especially loved the Dart!! well done everyone!
Cars like this is why I appreciate this channel. Keep them coming.
Gorgeous dart! The setup is perfect in my eyes.
love the song at the end of this bit. it just fits that dart.
My second car was a 68 dart with 318. Mopar fan ever since. I love the 68 because of the round front marker lights and the top of the fender signal indicators that faced the driver.

This was the best car show of all time!
Bring it back!
This is prob my favorite car Mike has reviewed thus far. Sick!

Merci I guess I think I'm a shower for jobs
Great video. Cool car. Def something I could see myself driving home in Brooklyn.
Haha crazy that you mentioned Akron, my hometown, in a video. Too cool Mike!
those wheels are perfect.
Hands down the nicest dart I have ever seen. Beautiful
Very cool! Great combination of parts. It looks like a smaller version of a Road Runner.
Everything about this build is perfect . Right color , stance , & wheel choice
Great production fellas! Well done!

I think I just fell in love! Such a beauty
That is one bad ass dart! I was kinda surprised to see it rolling up and down the streets that I grew up on. I was born and raised in Oakland.
I'm from west michigan and i'm also a proud owner of a 1974 dodge dart swinger. gotta love them.
Where the metal panel is at the top of the door, paint would wear through from propping your elbow there, then your sweat would start the rust speckles in the paint. Finally it was have a big slick rusty patina where you arm rested. I loved the '67-'68 Darts.
Beautiful ride very true about making these darts into sleepers awesome!!!
this car speaks to me, Its actually my new favorite, I may only be 15 but I have an insain passion for cars, and to see this car, and to appriciate it.This puts a smile on ny face
+Beau Lancey And something you can find at a reasonable price. So you will still have money left to fix it up.
Yeah, my buddy just showed me one that is gutted and it's for 3k
+Beau Lancey yep, they're out there
if you don't mind 4-door you can find amazingly good Mopars for dirt
I just picked up an insanely clean 1973 B-body Dodge Coronet for under $1,000... zero rust (arizona car), and it runs
P Murphy damn, that's pretty good
You should stay in school to work on your grammar, spelling, and using punctuation before you even think about turning a wench.
What a beautiful car, I want one so bad! Great video guys
Great narration, in car, and camera work.
Great vid Mike and Co. Aussie viewers recognize this car as a Valiant , I think VJ or VH model , Nice car looks like a great no nonsense driver . I always liked that shape even though I'm a Ford guy.
Best lookin Dart I've seen, love the murder out look.
Wish I knew you were in oakland. It would have been cool to see you guys and how you record for the show.
Very nice. Big muscle needs to air weekly because its a great show. I watch all cars shows, but this just connects to me. Being from the "hood" and all.
Great car.. all the right stuff done for it...and great owner and a great driver.
Haha, that is guy who helped the RoadKill guys in the lastest 24hours of Lemons with the Rotsun!
LOVE the rake, love the murdered out look, but goodness, that front sway bar terrifies me - it looks like it could get hooked on something and tear the whole front end off!
I like that monochromatic look .

Really really great episode!
My first job at Chrysler's was on the A-body cowl top line, then B-body cowl top.
great videos. thanks for the free entertainment. Big muscle is inspiring and interesting.

Got a 63
This thing is so VICIOUS! Love it.
It's nice to see Oakland hasn't changed all that much since I moved out of the area.
This makes me miss my mom's old stock dart. It was a nice car with character. Slow but still nice and comfortable to drive.
Great piece
I'm in love with this style
That's just SICK!
I have watched this video at lease 150 times HAHAHA I love this car and it's setup!
timeless-perfect!!
Seeing stuff like this gets me excited to work on my grandpas old charger and put personality into it.
Love this car. I drove a blue 1973 with a slant 6 for a while. Wasn’t cool back then but wish I had it now. It was very clean back then.
I'm a MOPAR guy, through-and-through, and my favorite MOPAR's are the A-bodies. The Dodge Dart too the Plymouth Duster and Scamp, these things could perform, and look badass while doing it.

Damn right Musto! Great Video!!!!
and now youtube took me here again, and I still watched the whole thing
I love this beast!
Beautiful
This looks sweet murdered out! A-bodies have been getting more respect lately due to cool builds like this
This car is so bad ass!
BEAUTIFUL!

The rear and side of a GTO, the front of a cuda. Beautiful.
Beautiful and that gloss black makes that ride look classy as it does sinister. The satin accents are perfect. I'd love to own a car like that. Need 500+hp though.
Sweet ride only thing I would add is a Paxton super charger all kept under the hood.luv those 68 & 69s
love it one of the best keep it up
Oh man it's beautiful drive!
cool car when i was a kid no one liked the dart but i aways saw the potential in the car good job man
My dream car is a dart like this with the wheels sticking out a tad and chrome wheels possibly torque thrust style.
That is one badass looking Dart. I want it!
always loved those Darts and A bodies. sweet! ☆☆☆
Mopar or no car! Beautiful car man! Love it!
That funk in the Intro! Dope!
Cool video, cool Dodge Dart , mean paint job 👍
