I had a 340 Duster auto back in 83 that never lost a race. I called the 340 the little that could. I came across another 340 Duster a little old lady was driving a few years after getting rid of mine. It was purple with a flat black hood with a 340 Wedge decal on the hood.

Have a 1968 GT "Dart Hemi" clone. It's nice to see it get some respect on TV. The car been great, nothing like a big motor with a hurst 4-speed setup.

Man that M code 440 Dart is beautiful!!! I sold my 1969 340 4 speed Swinger to one of my best friends a while back and he is getting ready to restore it. It is a Sun Fire yellow car just like this M code car. Seeing this 440 Dart brings back so many memories of my Swinger. I used to love going after the big block cars with my 340. The Dodge ads when these cars were new referred to the 340 as the "Big Bore Hunter" and they were not wrong! I loved stompin' on 390 Fords, 396 Chevies and 383 Mopars. The 427's, 428's, 429's, 440's, 454's and 455's weren't safe from that little 340 either! Dart's were lethal in the right hands. I can't wait to see my old Swinger when Jeff gets her all done!

That 340 Dodge was arguably the best performing small block engine ever made ! My friend in high school had a 73’ Dodge Challenger R/T 340 six pack that would smoke everything we ever raced on the street ! Good times !

darts are a beautiful blend of traditional lines but with less weight holding it down..all of them are great looking and with that 340 they would move! Mine was forest green with a 4spd and 391 rear, cragars and goodyear polyglas gt rubber. The factory dual exhaust with tuned manifolds sounded great.Everyone I knew to this day brings up that dart whenever we talk about cars...lol even that statey down east Liverpool way...who is still looking for that dart!

I sure miss that car. we kept it looking as stock as possible on the outside, because we street raced. people used to call it the sling shot....lol

A Dart with a big block weighed 3,400 pounds not 2,800. No sawsalls used. Very restrictive exhaust manifold on starter side. These guys obviously didn't grow up with these cars. A 3.90 geared 4 speed 340 Dart would outrun the stock 440 Dart auto with the 3.23 rear!

@westbender 820 I'm 70 years old now, but the Mopar speed addiction is still in my blood. Fortunately with an annual income of $500,000+ I can maintain that. I drive a Chrysler 300S fitted with R4 brakes and the Ripp Supercharged modification done to the 3.6 Pentastar V6. I also have an SRT8 392 Charger, but the V6 is faster and 175 pounds lighter in the nose which also makes it a better driver. I am in the process of buying a 2019 Ram Laramie Longhorn and replacing the 5.7 Hemi with an Arrington 426 all forged version with a mild 8 pound boosted supercharger. I stopped doing restomod Mopars because in reality I could buy a safe reliable new car or truck and turn it up to the power level I wanted and write it off on my taxes. I've owned over 20 Mopar muscle cars in my life including A, B and E bodies. They were all fun, but a 3,000 pound A body with a much modded 340 with the old W2 or W5 heads, roller cam and a deep gear set was death on just about anything that squared off with it on the street. Great memories of blowing off 454 Chevelles !

@@charlesmarshall2697 Great stories. I too am Mopar guy. Always have been. Always will be. One of Mopars I owned was a '73 340 Duster. I was able to get some serious performance out of it. Blew off many cars with it, including a 455 Pontiac Blackbird. My Duster barked the tires in all 3 gears; damn good 727 Torqflite in it!
