I grew up 7 miles down the road from Troys shop, in Peotone, IL. And I've somehow never managed to ever see that car. I'm absolutely blown away. I'm speechless, that car is too perfect, and it was built right down the road from me.
Motor Trend has been bearing heavy criticism for its RUclips offerings lately, some of it deserved, some of it not, but I like this new House of Muscle series. It's tasteful and well done, and being a more mature show with an older and calmer host, it nicely balances the otherwise excitable pace of the channel's portfolio and presenters.
I love the 66-67 Plymouth Satellite/Belvedere . My dad bought a new Satellite in 66, and mom had a 67 Belvedere. I learned to drive in that 67 Belvedere, so I have a soft spot for them.
Mike Musto nice work on this video, as a New Yorker I appreciate how you tell a story, others may not get it or appreciate your on screen talent. What a car, the capabilities are incredible, build details are exceptional!!!Troy Trepanier is a genius, to be able to build such a multi capable machine, with the limitations that David Meyer put in place. I wish I would have had him build my Cuda....I am still crying over that one.
Great job on this episode Mike! I agree this is easily one of the greatest Mopar builds. Editing and video production was top notch too, looking forward to the rest of the series!
Square and boxy cars don't usually look good, but that rear pillar offsets the boxiness, making it one of the best looking cars Chrysler ever built. I'll bet that shape doesn't do much for the coefficient of drag - that thing is a brick. It's amazing that it can top 200 mph. Although someone (Carroll Shelby?) once said that if you had enough power you could make a brick go fast.
Plymouth & Troy T= THE MOTHER OF ALL MOPARS!!! That car is the ultimate.. it wouldn't surprise me if you could thrash it on a road course.. What a statement 👊💪👊💪
I started at a classic auto restoration shop recently, and the owner has told me that Rad Rides by Troy is what he aspires to achieve with both his shop as well as his skill set. It just makes me excited to learn from him and be a part of it
The best thing about this story is the fact that you USE IT!! I love to see you flog it! Good for you! The hood off of youre high school ride is also cool.
The best thing about Mike's videos is that he shows us more obscure muscle cars meaning cars other than camaro's challengers, and chargers I didn't grow up with muscle cars so I had no idea the Belvedere existed and I fell in love with this car. I'm only 23 and I just bought my first muscle car a year ago and every time I fire it up it makes my day better.
My mom bought a brand new 66 Belvedere 4 door with a slant 6 in it and I was a kid and for it to be a slant 6 it would do everything that the speedometer said it would do a Buck 20 !! OLD SCHOOL RULES !!
That brings back some memories. A friend my best friend in high school bought one of these in '67. It looked like a total granny car. As I recall it was a Belvedere GTX with the 426 hemi. Once he tubbed out the rear wheels to install some 16 in M&H Roadmaster slicks you knew it was no granny car. That car was, as they say, 'bad ass.'
What a beauty...what a beast! I can't believe that receiver hitch mounted parachute doesn't get yanked out at 200MPH. I remember seein' Troys shop on the Speed Channel back, maybe 10 years ago.
It doesn't sound like a match to me... (found it on bandcamp for those who want to test for themselves). Shazam can't match this music. I used various ways to do a clean rip of the small segment with lyrics during the burnout, and shazam has returned a number of different answers, as has audiotag.info. Currently, I don't think a database has this song.
Different volumes and EQ settings...all return different results. Cant find a match here either. Originally I thought it was a new remix for Days Go By, but the lyrics are different. Im stumped.
Having owned 3 - '66 Belv/Satellites I am so in love with this car and the build. Troy's shop did the best job imaginable incorporating all the tech, safety, power and class while still retaining the stock look of the original car right down to the stance ! With the new high HP offerings from the (ahem) Big - 3, this fits right in but with WAY more class.
On paper you'd have to shake your head and say there's no way you could achieve this in a package that's this cross functional with the attention to detail and the hi tech features. Not to mention the sano / semi-sleeper look....... incredible. If i had the coin, Troy would be my builder.
Beautiful color your dad set you rite this is a great caryou are a lucky man your dad was smart to steer you away from that camaro sounded like a airplane wen you let out the parachute
I could have bought a 1964 Plymouth Belvedere SuperStock with a 426 Hemi and 4spd all original with 18,567 miles on it for $18,000 in 1993/94 when I was 20/21. It had all its original equipment and documentation/paperwork too However I had to let it go. I let my 64 Tempest tell me what it wants. I’ve had it since 1995 and it has a few improvements. More yet to go.
I like how Mike Musto goes that extra mile .. telling the whole story of the car's history. But then goes on to tell you about the history of the make and model, the options that were available that most importantly, how Richard Petty made that model popular. Great job Mike
On of my favorite parts of this episode is the mile mark spool down. And the end too, the camera work with the music, the beautiful voice and of course .. the way that car fades into the tire smoke AND the sunset. Mike, you said Troy knocked it out of the park with the build well, I certainly agree with you there. I'm thinking you and your crew did just that .. with this episode. Oh, and Mopar is my #1
I turned 16 the spring of 1976, and although I was never a car guy to the degree these guys were/are, I remember and appreciate cars of this styling that were on the road back in the day. This Mopar in its general form reminds me of my first ride, a ‘66 Fairlane 2 dr hardtop. It was a base model, no AC, no power steering or brakes, but it was that lite blue color of that era and had a sweet 289ci in it and would really move. I traded it for a ‘73 Yellow Gran Torino. I wish I had either of those back today, but especially the Fairlane. Anyway, I’ve digressed. This was an excellent presentation and is an exceptional car. Hats of to everyone in this video.
To me this looks like the german approach to a restomod muscle car. Perfect fit and finish, high quality solutions for basically every part and no nonsense looks. Definetly one of the best cars I have seen on this channel
As a Belvedere fan from way back, I’ve got to say the one portrayed here is the finest example of the marque I have ever seen. And the quality of this show's presentation does justice to its subject.
Mike another great episode, screw the trolls and haters, I'm glad to see you on Motor Trend. Keep up the great work! Very nice presentation and back story on this classic ride, it is hard to believe this thing was rolled in its history.
That is 1 of the Dopest Builds I've seen on this Channel!! The Color(Love Blue) the interior(that dash & Navi in the rear view!!) The turbos mounted in the rear of the Car Almost 5,0000lbs & still going under 10 secs & being being a Daily Driver! KUDOS!!
The episode that would've been released this month is Episode 60, which is the bonus episode with Mighty Car Mods they released for Christmas. Expect Roadkill for the 17th.
They say roadkill is slowly going away. The guys have some new directions they want to pursue. Roadkill will be a special edition type of project only. Sad but I'm afraid, true.
General feeling I get is the roadkill is at a height, and moving to a pay rather than play market, "on demand" etc and if pay don't work, it might not play.... Let's be honest it's a watched show that's been around for the comedy not the cars really. And really jumped in viewership after top gear died, due to a good many still needing a car guy comedy fix. And click and clack despite free, also dead, (literally RIP Tommy) and on radio. So roadkill is at a premium spot in the niche, just holding it hostage for a paying market at the moment. But we're cheap, we want free....
The final scene when you make donuts: The warm sunset light, the slowmotion, the dust and the music put me in a nice mellow trance. Thanks for a great episode :-)
Beautiful bass ass 1966 Plymouth Belvedere II. Love it. I can only imagine how much the bill $$$ was for this build. Masterpiece of engineering, fabrication, and assembly of parts. I'd love to drive it! Troy and the gang should be commended for the work they did, and guess they are on this video and others on youtube, and magazine articles. It was built with a no expense spared luxury budget by one of the top car builders in the world, to accomplish specific goals which were obtained, congradulations! Well done video Mike, I enjoyed this overall, including some of the history of these cars. However, .....Slab sided B-Body grandmothers car, come on dude! Seriously,, what a undeserved lame description. Last time I looked at those cars they have a nice round curve in the body all the way down. Super clean, chiseled out of granite, ripped looking is more like it! Not bloated and fat like the next generation B-Body mopars, compare to a 1968-70 Coronet, Belvedere (road runner), and Charger for that matter. Ouch! Its true, admit it. Your boring and stereotype narrative is getting old on these cars, just like the description of the 1966 Dodge Coronet you did previously. How about speaking positively about the body styling for once? The Hellcat Challenger, there is a slab sided car, flat as a pancake all the way down. Fast yes, but heavy and fat looking.
Only Two Words........Beautifully Insane!!! There are not many American Muscle Cars i haven't seen and drove one time or another, though there was a time while visiting a friend in Pueblo Colorado, i woke really early one morning and decided to walk around the Block, sitting in a Neighbors driveway sat a Car with a sign, For Sale.....Original 4 Speed Car, that stopped me and i seen the emblem Belvedere and the rest was missing, i had to call Dad, hey Pop what is this and who makes it.........FROM THAT DAY FORWARD, I BEEN HOOKED!!! Thanks for sharing!
It's... Beautiful. The B body Belvedere has always been my all time favorite muscle car and this one absolutely executes everything that I thought the car was capable of and much more. Bravo! Brawn meets Beauty. Anybody can do a Petty tribute and it would be awesome, this car truly is a masterpiece.
barath4545 4L80e by Bowler Transmission + a Gear Vendors Overdrive. Ran Hot Rod Drag Week, and 3 standing mile events, and a total of 3,000 miles on the road all last year.
NorthernBel What is the actual weight? People keep saying 4800... however, a Bel 2 is rated at 3200-3300... I know the turbos arent that heavy and it sounds like 400lbs of sound deadener... maybe 37-3800?
kkkkiaken the actual race weight according to the scale at the end of the drag strip was 4,895 pounds. That is with me in it, in full race gear and a nearly full tank of gas. It has a 23 gallon tank, so the gasoline weighs about 142 pounds. In full race gear with a SFI fire suit, helmet, and hans device, I probably weigh about 250 pounds. Subtracting those from the race weight and rounding a little, that puts the car weight at 4,500 pounds. Compared to stock, you have to add the weight of the sound deadener, cage, 4L80e trans weight difference over a 727, the gear vendors unit, trailer hitch, parachute, turbos, intercooler, turbo tubing (all stainless steel by the way), subframe connectors, fire suppression system, Dana 60 weight difference over the 8 3/4", and the bedliner type material that is sprayed on the underside of the car.
Bruno Ribeiro it's the exhaust because if you look at 0:48 there's no exhaust pipes at the back the only reason is they stuck the exhaust at the front and put the turbo at the back it's like they flipped them
Sorry you had to tell us twice. And I've always loved Belvederes--friend of mine had one in high school, nicely built but nothing like yours. But, in all fairness, when it comes to Mopars, I'm more a Charger/Challenger/Cuda type of guy. Who drives a '13 Ford Escape. Please don't laugh...
I use to have 67 Plymouth belvedere 4 door had a 318 ran on 7 cylinders lost compression in one cylinder but couldn't kill that engine loved that car was my first ride
I grew up 7 miles down the road from Troys shop, in Peotone, IL. And I've somehow never managed to ever see that car. I'm absolutely blown away. I'm speechless, that car is too perfect, and it was built right down the road from me.
I owned a 66 plymouth belvedere back when I was 17 yrs old. It had a 273 V8 . Great car
Thank you Sir!
i feel the same . Its a great new series .
@@BlueHopi144 I agree as well!
A lot better than Road Kill, that show has jumped the shark.
I love the 66-67 Plymouth Satellite/Belvedere . My dad bought a new Satellite in 66, and mom had a 67 Belvedere. I learned to drive in that 67 Belvedere, so I have a soft spot for them.
My favorite car designer/builder. Troy is unmatched in the industry
Young man. You have a real jewl there. Never let that beauty go. She is a keeper.
Mike Musto nice work on this video, as a New Yorker I appreciate how you tell a story, others may not get it or appreciate your on screen talent. That guy is a master builder !!!
This thing is a sleeper...damn...9's in the qtr., and will run 208mph...a '66 Mopar... awesome
Great job on this episode Mike! I agree this is easily one of the greatest Mopar builds. Editing and video production was top notch too, looking forward to the rest of the series!
Troy always delivers....
Square and boxy cars don't usually look good, but that rear pillar offsets the boxiness, making it one of the best looking cars Chrysler ever built.

Beautiful. Can't imagine going 250 mph in it. I'm sure it would. Gets me thinking about "BIG RED" Awesome build.
Saw this car at Keystone Raceway in Pa. it's unbelievable. cleanest car out there. this thing sounds unreal.
The best thing about this story is the fact that you USE IT!! I love to see you flog it! Good for you! The hood off of youre high school ride is also cool.
What a car - those wheel/tires really work well!
GOD I love B-Bodied, bad-mother-fudger 1960s muscle cars... Some of the most beautiful and completely American cars of all time.
That car is insane!!!!!
Car has many, MANY un-noticed details. The best build I have ever seen, and he uses it! It was great to meet David and his father on Drag Week
We spent days with this car and still missed some of the details. Amazing build.
WoW what a nice ride you got there
Awesome!! She hits 200 mph rather easy!! Got there quick not even break in' a sweat! Love it! She's ready for the salt flats or the Texas mile etc
My mom bought a brand new 66 Belvedere 4 door with a slant 6 in it and I was a kid and for it to be a slant 6 it would do everything that the speedometer said it would do a Buck 20 !! OLD SCHOOL RULES !!
That is the true definition of protouring muscle. Its amazing that the car does 208mph without any changes to the body for aerodynamics.
O'Dhalsim Scruggs - I don't think most people understand that. Makes me wanna hold on to my Dodge Magnum and have these guys work on it
By all means go for it. The magnum should have a large enough engine bay for a bigger engine and huge turbos.
What year Magnum?
The House Of Muscle - 2007
I had an 06 SRT8 Magnum. One of best cars I've ever owned. Would buy another in a heartbeat!
That brings back some memories. A friend my best friend in high school bought one of these in '67. It looked like a total granny car. As I recall it was a Belvedere GTX with the 426 hemi. Ultimate Belvedere is an understatement, excellent craftsmanship and attention to detail on this build.
Seriously Mike,this car is inspiring....thanks.
You are welcome Sir!

Holy cow I've delivered parts to this shop! Definitely a shop that flies under the radar.

Musto you're such a frigging legend. This has automatically become the best show on the Motor Trend Channel.
best day of the year I missed big muscle

I love that car❤️Troy and his crew rule!!
Great color, great wheels, great car! Best episode so far!
I'm old but these older dudes are animals. I salute you! Raised with moter trend 30 plus years. Thank you!
Love the fact Musto is on MT, Drive network's loss is MT gain. Keep it up Mike!
Thank you Ricky!

This show is amazing. You do a great job Mike... I've been watching since the /Drive days...
As a Belvedere fan from way back, I’ve got to say the one portrayed here is the finest example of the marque I have ever seen. And the quality of this show's presentation does justice to its subject.
Fabbo machine, great camerawork and editing. Mike, class as usual. Love it, thank you!!!
Both the intro and outro song were SO GOOD. really made the episode.
can you tell me the outro
Mike another great episode, screw the trolls and haters, I'm glad to see you on Motor Trend. Keep up the great work! Very nice presentation and back story on this classic ride, it is hard to believe this thing was rolled in its history.
Quite an achievement. I love it.
That blue! So deep you could swim in it. Licklicklick.
You're right, I've seen that car up close in person and have to say it was one of the best paintjobs ever!
I think it's one of the best overall restoration/update jobs I've seen, I envy you your close encounter!
That is a VERY nice blue!
Please tell me what the soundtrack is at the ending shot 13:30 it is so incredible
Check out the music that Moog from Mighty Car Mods produces. You'll like it.
I would absolutely love to have that Plymouth belvedere!
Excellent video, Mike! So happy to see you back on the youtubes! Keep up the good work!
Troy builds the best cars I've ever seen, from the first time I seen him on RIDES on TLC he still builds the most amazing machines.
I feel terrible. I live 45 minutes south of this shop and have never heard of it. I have to see this car in the flesh.
KUDOS!!
this is great and all but I think I speek for all of us when I say we want new roadkill
Should be back this month. They usually take a break around January-February.

208 mph is nothing to sneeze at in 4000 pound brick
It has aerodynamics, of a lego brick. A very fast lego brick. Smashes the air.
@@XIIINoir I can tell you why in just one word, Mopar LOL
5K lb brick. ;o)
would love to put that same setup in a lowered superbird. 300mph!
Riiiight.
My favorite car, had a 66 for 7 yrs. Had a 67 for the same- still gives me goose bumps
This was beautifully shot. I'd like to see more of the shop. That 3rd gen looked crazy and we should have got to fire the Speed Demon.
As a ex '66 Belvedere owner. this one is friggen outrageous!
Best edits and content on this channel. Musto is a boss!
Love Troy Trepanier's work! Best builder there is, in my opinion.
Love it! The Bev II doesn't get near enough credit.
The 200mph flying brick beautiful Canadian mopar
Mike you still got it. Keep up the great content man.
That car is a masterpiece, pure and simple. Easily one of the most impressive Mopars I've ever seen, and that's saying a lot.
.
Those boys in the Midwest don't mess around...
This car makes my heart melt.
13:06 - Beautiful shot
Possibly the best car ever featured. Loving HOM and seeing this just makes me want one.
Big v8 cars with rear mounted turbos is a great way to go with more under bonnet space - i better buy a big land shark and get some turbos !
T
One time watching this isn't enough!! Too much car for just once! I love the sleeper look to it as well as the color! Thanks for the video!
you could say that car is a beautiful sight
Jarvie Stenhouse Nice! Not that many know what Belvedere means.
Absolutely beautifully executed and tough as fark 👌

9:24-9:27 it actually went 209mph at the last second
Margin of error...
Will always love these 66/67 belvederes and coronets. Truly an underated machine!
That car reminds me so much of a HK Monaro (Holden).
Only if your HK Monaro looks like a Valiant Pacer.
yeah, the headlight surrounds looked like a copy
I thought it looked a bit like an Xp falcon in the front
I've seen this car before and it is probably the most majestic car I've ever seen

My brother was born in 2007 and he loves the 70 roadrunner
forget the comaro....get a mopar 🙂. i approve
I'm glad SOMEBODY listened to their dad and didn't get a Camaro :P
It's nice to see actual content instead of commercials for MTOD , great show cool Belvedere.
I like it but what's with the huge spray comin out in front of the RHS wheel?
I think is the exhaust, because the 2 turbos are on the back
Yeah I saw that too, is it a Waste gate? Maybe it is the crankcase vent? Dunno
Bruno Ribeiro it's the exhaust because if you look at 0:48 there's no exhaust pipes at the back the only reason is they stuck the exhaust at the front and put the turbo at the back it's like they flipped them
It was a cold day. You are seeing the breathing from the oil return into the dry sump oil reservoir mounted in the front fender.
That is the most beautiful Blue I've ever seen in my life. That car is ridiculous! I love it!
@2:12 whats the smoke?
fatchance it's from the waste gate dump on the turbo looked like it was pretty rich
airsami28 it's the exhaust look at 0:48 there's no exhaust pipes at the back
idk good ? then
turbo is in the rear of the car behind the diff, probably just coolant to full and bleeding off
