Shad! I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to drive your Pantera, to meet you and Sandy, and to bond over our individual daddy-daughter moments. 🥰
I was the 17-year-old bus boy working late as Rod Stewart, and his "hottie" rolled in with a bright yellow Pantera. It made all the glasses in the restaurant shake with its thunderous exhaust. I told my co-workers, "someday I'll have one of those," my co-workers snickered back "yeah right." I worked my butt off, began a business that eventually became successful. One day, I realized that I had enough money saved to start looking. I found an incredible white 74 Pantera, my dream car.... It was worth the work.
@@tsunamiiwinterz-px7oz I saw a white one listed for $169,899 yesterday. I don’t know if it’s sold yet or not but it probably won’t fetch quite that much. According to the ad, it was meticulously and faithfully restored to better than new condition with the engine completely rebuilt. The ad listed all the details of the restoration and it was quite thorough. A Pantera is the first car I drove at speeds over 120mph. I'm 74 years old now… and I remember every moment of that drive. NEVER had the same feeling again. THANK YOU for finding this incredible guy and his car!
My first car at over 100mph was a '70 Merc Cougar w/a 351C w/4bbl heads FMX trans and a Posi rear end. I added headers. My dad gave me 2 broken cars before I bought the Merc. I was 16 when I bought it in 1977 for $700. It was so much fun watching the speedo needle bounce off the post at 120mph.
It’s funny how people thought that because the speedo said 200, it would do 200. I saw around 140 in mine several times on those Goodyear Ariva biased ply tires. He is right, the front end gets light. Took a guy for a ride when he asked if it would do 110 in third gear? I got a ticket that night.
My favourite car .. what a fantastic build.. and the emotional impact of the flower and being able to drive the car made my wife and I tear up big time. Great story thanks so much
Hi Nicole, Great job! Tom Tjaarda (charda) was a good friend of mine and on many occasions my house guest. He and I attended the Detroit Auto Show together. Tom was born in Birmingham, Michigan of Dutch ancestry. Tom’s Dad John, designed the Lincoln Zephyr in 1937. Tom graduated from U of M in architecture and ironically, an American, that designed an Italian car. His professor at U of M impressed by Tom introduced him to Pininfarina after Tom was instructed not to design a sports car so his professor restricted it to be a station wagon. Tom designed the most radical station wagon ever. Later he became head of Ghia design studio when he designed the Pantera. Tom married an Italian wife, created Tjaarda Design Studio and lived in Italy until he died. The design in the DeTomaso logo is an Egyptian “I” for Alexandro’s wife named Isabella.

Anybody who sheds a tear over a Pantera is okay with me. This one hit home. My Dad brought home his '72 Pantera when I was 8 years old in 1980. I still remember that night very clearly. I saw the headlights turn into the driveway and as he pulled into the garage, the windows shook. That's when I fell in love with that car. After seeing Derek from Vice Grip Garage work on his...I'd agree. I'd call a few things 'interesting choices', but most are pretty good for the early 70's from a small company.
Thank you for sharing the pleasure and feeling you have for your magnificent work, especially for the love shown by your daughter, it moved me because my father has already passed away and I miss him. In 85, I was driving from Loveland Colorado to Estes Park and 8-10 Panteras passed me going up the canyon! It just so happens they were going to a Pantera rally that day, so I followed them into town and checked it out. Nothing else sounds like a Pantera. My favorite car. That and a Sunbeam Tiger!

it's amazing the effect and impact a parent can have on their kids just by being there and sharing who they are as people - Mom, I love you and thank you
My dad had a red and black Pantera back in the early eighties when I was 5 as well. This was in Longwood (what is now called Wekiva), Florida. He bought one that had crashed in a snow bank on the Autobahn. He picked it up in California and we drove it on a trailer back to Florida where he restored it. We had to go up on a mountain in the sierra Nevada mountains and back the trailer down a skinny one way mountain road with high cliffs that dropped off just off the shoulder of the road. That was so terrifying of a ride for me. I was riding up in this little space above the front seats of the blue conversion van we were driving. But boy was that Pantera loud. It made me feel SO COOL when we would pull up at my elementary school to drop me off & at the end of the day he came to the parent pick up line . Everyone thought it was a red Ferrari. I was like “nope, that’s my dad & he drives a Pantera). I got to tell all my friends about my dad who’s a fighter pilot and a race car driver… cuz he was. Well he was those as well as a computer programmer. I miss my Dad ♾️❤️♾️. Thanks for this video!
What year. ? Incredible story. My respects. But what happened after that ? Do you still have the cat? WhT happened. ? Please. Tell Me More. My Name is Francisco my dad collects antique cars and I restore them. Also I am a bike collector. I have 6 super bikes. 2 Suzukis. 4 enduros. Mexico salutes you

Wow! Were you ever lucky! My best friend from high school bought a used Trans Am in 1976. I only drove it one time, I’m sad to say. It was at night, on a highway. The acceleration was unbelievable. I saw taillights far in the distance. I pressed the accelerator and we were upon those cars ahead of us In a flash. It was scary quick. I was literally scared when we came upon those cars so quickly. I wish I had asked to drive it again. It was so much fun!
Nicole, you're just so good at these interviews. You ask very thoughtful and unique questions that show your passion, all the while, pulling in the other person's passion you're interviewing. I loved learning about the history and all the little details about this car. Keep being awesome!
My dream car is a 1963 E-type Jag convertible. It is British racing green, with a white stripe on the hood and a tan leather interior. I have never sat in an E-type, and it is one of two lifelong experiences I have dreamed about since childhood that would make me cry even though I am 61. The other dream would be to spend a day with the Stanley Cup.
I just realized that I was grinning through the whole video! Once again, Nicole, thanks for taking us along for the ride. Shad - you're as amazing as NOTYCAT!
What i love the most about this is her dad had one when she was little and his own daughter used to ride with him ! What an amazing video i think it the best one yet Nicole 👏👏
Nicole! This IS the best episode so far. This car belongs in a movie and have its own Hot Wheels. Fantastic, Unbelievable what ppl can imagine and build. What a car!
I absolutely love people that isn't afraid to reimagine the looks of an old classic. And actually drive it. The look may not be for everyone, but it doesn't really matter if you like it. As long as he does. 👍 Nothing but respect from me. 🙌
"The look may not be for everyone"?? Yeah, no its not. But that also means that the owner prefers the adulterated look over the original look, so what are they even doing with the car in the first place? It shouldn't be in their possession. If it was such a rare car then he should of sold it and found a non-push button car.
Nicole & Michael ~ WOW! Thank you for sharing Shad's journey with notycat. This turned out amazing! Family, passion, cars and sharing these memories! We appreciate having something so special to share with the family❤

Now that is why I love this channel. Great job. Emotion, it's what it's all about at the end of the day. The love of cars, a feeling that transcends the some of it's components. The journey that the car takes you on and the journey through life that it's part of. Fabulous guy and fabulous car. Great job team. All the best to you all. Dream drive,...don't take the mick but, a 1979 Pontiac Trans AM (Smokey & the Bandit)
My best friend from high school had a mid-70s Trans Am that I loved. Then when I saw ‘Smokey and the Bandit’, I wanted that car. But I would have wanted a manual transmission.
You guys did an outstanding job on making that custom 1971 Pantera mini documentary. From technical to personal you guys did a beautiful job. It had meaning, values, and good presentation. Keep doing what you're doing. Much love and respect Tony Mark ‼️‼️
everyday when i walked to school cali a guy with a pantera would drive by the school and we always ran to the fence and asked him to spin the wheels.. he did it every time found memories
This is a great episoide with so much information and interesting stuff that I had to watch it twice in a row. Nicole and Shad, it's alright to cry. We all do.
The flower teared me up a bit. I also carry a pink flower on the roll cage of my '86 Ramcharger, the truck the wife and I took on our honeymoon. The flower is one that I saved from her final resting place. The old RC has a special place in my heart, and rebuilding it over the last four years helped keep me sane during that very trying time. She's the one that named the truck 'ol Bumpy, and that will get lettered into the pinstripe when the fresh paint goes on. Attachments to vehicles is something non car people will never get. Even some car people don't get it I suppose. But enough of that. Great episode as always Nicole and crew. And a fantastic build Shad, well done.
We're so glad you enjoyed watching!! Thank you for the comment. We're sorry for the loss of your wife. You're honoring her memory in a beautiful way and that will be with you forever!!
The Pantera is definitely in my top 10 of favorites. My dream car to drive is a 65 Malibu Chevelle SS. Very nice enginuity spin he put on this classic.
Hands down the coolest build I have ever seen from a enthusiasts of any car and the fact that it was a 71 Pantera makes it hold top spot. I’m in DFW and we used to have a place called Pantera’s pizza in Plano and well the obvious Pantera. RIP Dime and Vinny! Pantera’s had a bunch of sick memorabilia and it is what introduced me to the love of the car. Thank you for sharing this with us!
Wow!! I would give 1000 thumbs up on this little story if I could. The connection with your dad and the meaning of the little flower on the dash had me tearing up ❤. Had to come back and edit this comment because in getting caught up in the story I totally neglected to express my appreciation for the marvel that this car is as well. I am grateful for vlogs like this that allow me to see such wonderful creations!
I'm speechless and emotional. Thank you for an excellent video and the history behind this vehicle. I'm glad there are some folks like you out there that love to build stuff with their hands, passion and love. I'm hoping America can get back to it's roots in building stuff instead of buying it.
I HARDLY if at all, sit through an entire car video. This video here, one of the very few that had my eyes glued to the screen. Wow, just an unbelieavable build. I would take this over ANY hyper/exotic vehicle hands down. Kudos to the owner/builder. My God this is a beautiful beast.

many very old religious ways see everything as alive and connected with a unifying sprit. of course a machine , not being from nature , is a different deal, but if you have ever had your car break in the driveway instead of on the road, it makes one consider the possibilities.

We agree!! We're glad you like it!!
After seeing Derek from Vice Grip Garage work on his...I'd agree. I'd call a few things 'interesting choices', but most are pretty good for the early 70's from a small company.
THAT WHOLE LOOK SCREAMS CYBERPUNK!
Thank you for sharing the pleasure and feeling you have for your magnificent work, especially for the love shown by your daughter, it moved me because my father has already passed away and I miss him. The moment has come when you invited us and shared your dream and you can have the privilege of allowing us all to dream a little together with you. Thank you and I wish you much success always and don't stop the projects, especially those that make you feel alive and with a lot of love to share, with family, friends and with us (on the internet). Congratulations
Thank you for watching! We appreciate your nice comment!!
Lots of love for you here Nicole. I wish I could have shared my cars with my dad. After all, he started my love of modifications and sports cars.
I'm glad you got to experience a piece of your childhood with this. It's way deeper than many would understand.
Thank you...I really appreciate that!!
When I saw the both of you getting emotional I could tell this was a good experience for the both of you. Who cares if everything is original or not? The experience is what's important. The memories.
Thank you...we appreciate the comment!!
Thank you Nicole. I watch every one of the videos. This one was special in many ways.
All of the video shots were amazing 👏
Glad you enjoyed it!
god i love this guys look at life and what it takes to build a car, also how his wife supported him through this build and how his father raised him its just amazing
Thank you for the comment!! We appreciate you watching!!
This car is part sculpture, part mechanic's dream, part race car, part tribute to father and son bonding. This is a perfect car.
Father and daughter ❤
Holy s#!t! What an absolutely magical car! Nicole, you and your crew have outdone yourselves, again, with this episode. I cried! What a genuine, fantastic show this time. Very muchly appreciated! Thanks again, everyone!✌️❤️🙂🇨🇦

You can feel the emotion....its raw...thats what driving is all about...and what a machine!
We appreciate you watching...glad you enjoyed it!!
I have always wanted a Pantera since I was a kid. I would see one every now and then growing up and every single one would stop me in my tracks.
Nice!! Thanks for the comment!!
How cool....thanks for sharing!!
Your Dad will always be with you Nicole! Thanks to both of you for the raw emotions. I’ve had my little Toyota for 25 years…cars, memories, and emotions… all real.
Thank you so much! We're glad you enjoyed watching!!
Thanks for that Pantera, it´s more than an unique piece, all that personal stories, it makes the whole episode so special and touching. Stay all save and don´t leave your dreams, that´s what i feel watching it🤗
Thank you for sharing!! Glad you like it!!
LOVE the flower story. As a father to two daughters, his emotion hits very close to home.
Yes...that was very special!!! Thank you for the comment!!
My daughter, almost 23, has been the heart and soul of my life from birth. It needs no explaining to me.
My Dad had a 72 Pantera. It was pretty impressive. I can't imagine what the NOTYCAT can do. It looks great! Insane!
Thank you for watching!!! We appreciate the comment!!
Two adults brought to tears sitting in a car in the driveway. Now that's good TV.
We're glad you enjoyed watching!!!
This got me so emotional. My daughter is 2 and I'm 50, I know it's likely I won't be around to see her beyond her 30's. She loves cars and loud guitar rock, I hope we can share a love of cars that will live on beyond me. Rad car and your dad sounds like a rad dude.
Thanks for watching!! We appreciate the comment!!!
Nice job on the NOTYCAT Shad! Thank you for letting Nicole drive it and thank you for giving us a wonderful, detailed look at it. She is a beautiful work of art. Enjoy NOTYCAT for many years to come.
Thank you so much for watching...glad you like it!!
I grew up in Germany my dad/Uncles/Grandpa were absolute car maniacs with an old Farmhouse stuffed with cars and parts from the 70s - 80s. That moment in min 21 totally caught me off guard. Video is off like 5 min and im strugling to keep my eyes dry. Thank you for sharing this passion and love !!!
We're so glad you enjoyed watching..thank you for the comment!!
I lost my dad when i was 2 . I get it
Seeing the absolute joy as you revved it for the first time really makes the channel.
Thank you...I appreciate that!!
Nicole, your knowledge and sheer enthusiasm and appreciation for cars is awesome! Thank you for keeping it genuine and real!❤
Thank you...I appreciate that!!
it's amazing the effect and impact a parent can have on their kids just by being there and sharing who they are as people - Mom, I love you and thank you
Parents matter and having two parents really matters. In the absence of two parents even one parent that shows up for the job can change everything.
“I feel like my dad is here” and then the wind chimes … a chime in time.” Your experience with your father chimes with the feeling I have of mine.
Thank you so much for sharing your story with us...we love it!!!

It was so much fun!
the yellow on the dash matches the yellow on the highway...looks like the highway gets lost within the car itself...what a nice touch
We agree!! Thank you for watching!!!
Nicole, you're just so good at these interviews. You ask very thoughtful and unique questions that show your passion, all the while, pulling in the other person's passion you're interviewing. I loved learning about the history and all the little details about this car. Keep being awesome!
Wow, thank you! I appreciate that!!
Thank you so much for sharing with us!!
I just realized that I was grinning through the whole video! Once again, Nicole, thanks for taking us along for the ride. Shad - you're as amazing as NOTYCAT!
That's awesome....we're so glad you enjoyed it!!
Me too and then bam!! What, my eyes getting wattery; wth?? Very cool video. This hits very close to home!!
What i love the most about this is her dad had one when she was little and his own daughter used to ride with him ! What an amazing video i think it the best one yet Nicole 👏👏
Thank you...so glad you enjoyed watching!!
I fell in love with the Pantera as a kid. Still am today!
Nicole! This IS the best episode so far. This car belongs in a movie and have its own Hot Wheels. Fantastic, Unbelievable what ppl can imagine and build. What a car!
We're so glad you like it!!
Your apparent joy and appreciation of these machines is enjoyable to see. Thank you for what you do.
Thank you...I'm so glad you enjoy watching!!
I absolutely love people that isn't afraid to reimagine the looks of an old classic. And actually drive it.
The look may not be for everyone, but it doesn't really matter if you like it. As long as he does. 👍
Nothing but respect from me. 🙌
Nothing but respect from me as well. What a beautiful machine.
Awesome....we appreciate that! Thank you for watching!
Built, not bought. Respect.
"The look may not be for everyone"??
Yeah, no its not. But that also means that the owner prefers the adulterated look over the original look, so what are they even doing with the car in the first place? It shouldn't be in their possession.
If it was such a rare car then he should of sold it and found a non-push button car.
@@JoshPhoenix11 Relax. It's not that rare a car. Let the man do his thing.
Nicole & Michael ~ WOW! Thank you for sharing Shad's journey with notycat. This turned out amazing! Family, passion, cars and sharing these memories! We appreciate having something so special to share with the family❤
Awesome Sandy!!! We’re so happy that you like it!!!! It was our pleasure to shoot this and I enjoyed driving it so much! We appreciate all that Shad’s done to make this a very special car!
Hi Sandy! Yeeeee haw!!! Thanks for havin' us. What a great story. 🙏🦄🙏
Nicole, that truly was Bitchin’! Thanks for taking us along for the ride, you rock!
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed the ride!!
I am old and spent many years with Lincoln Mercury, in 1973 I was in a dealer that sold the Pantera. I had a ton of fun driving those cars around the Chicago suburbs. Many great memories watching this video, thanks for making my day .
Thank you for the comment!! We're so glad you enjoyed watching!!
An expression of who i am as a person. I can see it and feel it. As a 55 year old man that has loved the Pantera all my life. This man has built a beautiful updated version. I appreciate it
We couldn't agree more!!!
Thank you so much!! We appreciate the comment...so glad you enjoyed watching this video!! And...1979 Pontiac Trans Am is a cool car!!!
My best friend from high school had a mid-70s Trans Am that I loved. Then when I saw ‘Smokey and the Bandit’, I wanted that car. But I would have wanted a manual transmission.
I love when you first started it. No dialog needed :) Just the sound and expressions on both your faces was enough.
Thank you...we're glad you enjoyed watching!!
Wonderful exhaust note!
Agreed! Glad you like it!!
It is His car! Does what he wants to with it. That’s awesome! You also have a great knack for finding not only the car but cool owners as well.
Thank you...glad you enjoyed watching!!
Love that....thank you for sharing!!
This is a great episoide with so much information and interesting stuff that I had to watch it twice in a row.
Nicole and Shad, it's alright to cry. We all do.
Thank you....we're so glad you enjoyed watching!!!
Yeah...cars you get attached to are like your best dog. They love you back.
@@NicoleJohnsonsDetour So sorry for your loss.

The shared laugh after "there are people at work!" was priceless. Very cool he shared his unique car with you and your dad.

The Pantera is definitely in my top 10 of favorites. My dream car to drive is a 65 Malibu Chevelle SS. Very nice enginuity spin he put on this classic.
Nice...thanks for sharing!!
I have a 91' MR2 t-top that I'm doing a LOT of the same stuff to. This Pantera is going to heavily inspire me, so thank you. Beautiful car sir.
Awesome...thanks for sharing with us!!
A friend had one back in 73, It was a real exotic back then, The looks we would get were of envy. And as usual you made my day.
Thanks for the comment!! Glad you enjoyed watching this video!!
We're glad you enjoyed watching!! Thanks for the comment..love it!!
Wow, thank you! We're so glad you enjoyed watching. We appreciate the comment!!!
What a great video experience, awesome stuff!

The fact that it’s the name of one of my all time favorite bands ever makes me love and respect it even more

I'm speechless and emotional. Thank you for an excellent video and the history behind this vehicle. I'm glad there are some folks like you out there that love to build stuff with their hands, passion and love. I'm hoping America can get back to it's roots in building stuff instead of buying it.
We're so glad you enjoyed watching!! Thank you for the comment!!
We appreciate you watching it!! Thank you so much for the comment!!
Why can’t there be a heart button to push instead of a thumbs up? One of my all time favorite cars ever made. Amazing! I’ll be dreaming about this car tonight. Thanks Nicole!!!

Nicole I don't know anyone, given the opportunity to drive this automobile, that would not be brought to tears. Awesome work Shad. Oh, yeah. 1961 Jaguar XKE Series I 3.8 Roadster.
Thank you for watching...glad you approve!! Nice dream car!!!
My dad also had a '71 or '72 DeTomaso. It was white and the engine deck was black. It was one of the best-sounding stock cars I ever heard.
13:40 DeTamoso's would feel like the front end was driving on ball bearings at 140 mph.
22:33 "Oh, I just Shad myself. " I can't believe you said that... to Shad!!
Usually when I watch a video about an amazing cool car, the tears are just because I don't have one. But the flower story got me.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you for watching!!
Sou brasileiro, pai de um garoto de 8 anos. Me emocionei duplamente, com o carro fantástico e com a simpatia desta apresentadora e com a sintonia em apresentar a história dos dois. Parabéns e sucesso.

I can yes if had a Pantera I’d go his route N/A. Beautiful example of a road/race car. Built❤
Thank you for the comment!!! We appreciate you watching!!
The emotion in this episode is why I and so many others love cars. Some cars have a soul because of their owners. Thank you both for sharing these deep feelings. Cars are sometimes not just objects.
many very old religious ways see everything as alive and connected with a unifying sprit. of course a machine , not being from nature , is a different deal, but if you have ever had your car break in the driveway instead of on the road, it makes one consider the possibilities.
Yes...we agree!! Thank you so much for watching!!
Crazy seeing your dad in that pic. So young and full of life. Feels like he could just talking at any minute.
