Yes I did
For the screw holes...just fill them up with a mixture of fine sawdust and PVA glue, when it dries just screw in the new screws and you're done.
Bye Bye same
What about Supurrrvisor channel?
Hey guys wanna paint my front door this color but the link says it’s no longer available!!! Help!!! 😫
I could feel the denial and regret in that "They're lights"
Haha I should have realized then that we were going to replace them 😋
@@EvanAndKatelyn Alright. This is totally random and possibly intrusive and offensive. But if you guys have a baby girl, you should name her Evelyn. See what I did there😎😎😎

@@EvanAndKatelyn shameless plug?
@@kenzieberumen3578 on their own channel? Idk about tbat
You should paint the windows trim the same color as the front door.
Definitely thought of it but then we would need to do the whole house which we worry about making an interesting video lol
I don't know, I kinda like it....
@@EvanAndKatelynI had the exact same thought the second you revealed the look! I think it would up your "front door makeover" game if you painted the two side window frames to match that door. It's got architectural lines in there that are being totally ignored by the beige/brown paint. I don't think you need to do any others around the house since they would be an extension clearly related to the front door.
Same thought
I thought the same thing
I’m sitting here eating lunch, watching the door makeover unfold and when you get to the lights, I say out loud to no one, “Oh no, those are too low.” And then you’re at Lowe’s getting diff lights and I get probably too excited. Thanks for the emotional roller coaster at the noon hour.
Haha! Thanks for coming along the emotional journey with us! Hopefully no one around at lunch thought you were too weird 😜😁
everyone thought they were too low!! They are awesome to fix it :D
You would have had to rename the video: "Most Oddly Unsatisfying " if you didn't change it! ;)
i think that's what everyone thought
I'm here. Literally a teen watching someone make over their door, knowing that I will never do anything with this knowledge, and I'll probably forget it by the time I get my own house, so yeah.
Did Kate just reference jenna marbles "I want to be tall "
I caught that one too 😂
Haha, we love Jenna ❤️ Dink fam!
I love you guys more!!! 😂😁
They need to colab

If I don't have toothpicks I'll use the bottoms of matches. I'd also recommend some wood glue to fill the gaps.
Golf tees are great too. But yes. WOOD GLUE is needed. Could even drill the hole bigger and add a dowel.
I don't know if it exists in America, but in the UK I use something called Polyfilla Plug and Fix. It is a an epoxy putty especially mode for repairing holes so they will properly take a screw. It is kind of like a stick of cheming gum that has the components on two sides so you can also pretend that you are using the explosive gum from the first Mission Impossible.
Oooo thanks for the tips! I guess if these ever come loose, we'll pop some good glue in there 👍👍
@@commando552 Yeah something like this we have. www.lowes.com/pd/DAP-Plastic-Wood-1-4-oz-White-Wood-Filler/4013493 Although I have not used this stuff for small holes to then have a screw go in.
I am glad you said it. I thought about the glue too!
Good call on the lights! My first thought was "oh. They look kind of low" lol.
Haha yep, had to be done!
@@EvanAndKatelyn its really nice to see the genuine version of a project, mistakes and changed minds and unexpected problems and all that. You guys always feel really honest and relatable.
Wait... The electrical panel is outside? Sounds like the perfect recipe for a horror /thriller movie.
Haha I seriously had never really thought about that til the comments started rolling in! Officially paranoid...😱😱
I was thinking the same thing when i saw the electrical panel on the outside.
it is common in cali from what i hear, find it stupid though - not only from an intruder point of view but also from a long-term reliability pov as electrical boxes rust over time and then water gets in
@@EvanAndKatelyn Time for a DIY security cage! :) Although make sure the meters are accessible otherwise fines (at least that''s how it works up north here in Canada).
I freaked out at this too. From both the intruder safety but also the safety from exposing wires/breakers to the elements. If a breaker is tripped, you have to go outside, around the house and potentially in the elements, rainstorm etc, to flip the switch! Crazzzzzzzy. Chuckie is gunna getchoo. Sorry couldn't resist.
‘ we can’t keep plants alive’ Evan: crushes plant with box...
It’s a mystery that shall never be solved
🤣🤣
If you haven’t already, you don’t want to use the screws that come with the door hardware you want to use deck screws that are double or even triple the length of the screws that come with the hardware. By using longer screws if someone were to try and break down the door it would be much harder and the integrity of the hardware will hold up better and not get loose over the years!
Thank you for the tip!!
Cheyenne Quinn it only benefit if you have a solid wood door.
Oh my gosh I was so relieved when you said the lights didn’t look right 😂
Haha I'm so glad we changed them!
Great job, guys! Looks a heck of a lot better 😊 My grandfather actually taught me that toothpick trick! He used wood glue when he did it, however. I think adding that might be good for extra insurance that it won’t get stripped again, or at least not as easily. Either way, you guys are killin’ it 🤙🏻
Thank you! Ah yes, probably should have used wood glue
Evan knows painting! "Now for the most fun part of any painting project: spending 20 minutes looking through swatches to figure what's the difference between this gray and this gray and this white and this gray…," and not even looking anymore because deciding is really about just giving up and going with whatever is in your hand at the moment.
Hahaha, so true
Evan was correct about how to hold a sash brush! That’s the way my college painting professor taught us.
I was about to comment mid-video that the lights looked way too low and you need a different style. Glad you figured it out on your own. ;) looking forward to the next podcast.
Haha! Yep, I'm glad we made the switch! And thank you, next one will be live Monday! 😄😀
Would love to see a quick video on your HPSPVS! (Home Photoshopping Super Preview Vision System™)
Haha! Maybe we'll do a live stream on Twitch next time we do it!
I honestly wish I could find my own Evan! He's so supportive and cheery.
Thanks y'all for watching! And pssst - did y'all know we have a podcast 🙀🎙️😸? Killing it guys.
Thank you Rachel!
Katelyn's editing is the best,I mean THE best.
Aw thank you! 🙏🙏
Looks much nicer indeed! Too bad the other lights were "too low" as they were pretty pretty :)
Something I found so weird is that your electricity panel is outdoors 😱😱😱is that common is the US? So...anyone who gets into your garden can switch things on and off?
Oh yeah i told myself the same thing about the electricity panel as French ! It's very weird and seems unsafe
I live in Canada but I’ve never seen an outdoor panel
I've noticed that too about the electrical panels. But I've also noticed that the outdoor electrical panels are mainly on older house's. And on House's in warmer climates. I don't know why they did that. But it is interesting.
Thank you!! Haha yeah it's pretty common I guess, at least around here... but now I'm officially paranoid 👀👀
@@EvanAndKatelyn If it's possible, you guys should at least put a pad lock on it or something. Moving the whole panel to the garage would be ideal. But that's probably really expensive to do.
Am I the only one who was shocked at Joobie just there with the door open?! My cat would have bolted 😂
My husband and I resurfaced our front door this fall. It was quite the ordeal as it is a HUGE door (like 8ft?). Thankfully my husband is 6'4" and I've done a good amount of woodworking and re purposing furniture in my lifetime. I was able to coach the sanding and restaining while he was able to reach the hard to get to places! Thankfully we didn't have to take it off the hinges cause I imagine it would have weighed a ton since its wood/glass and that big! It looks so much better now! We added a ring doorbell too! Its been the best thing since sliced bread!
Sounds like you guys are a good team! That sounds like a big undertaking!
Always nice to see siblings getting along so nicely. Not even any arguments about colors.
We're married actually!
EvanAndKatelyn DOH!!!!! Forgive me, I’m French!
I honestly love how they always make references to other youtubers I love like simplynaillogical and jennamarbles ❤

Haha idk we haven't hung them! We have sheets everywhere else in the house
2:32 i love how Katelyn is trying her best to reach the very top fixing the door and Evan is staying down low to fix stuff. If only there was some smarter way of deviding the jobs up high from the ones down low... Btw loved the video, as always!

@Candi Walkowski what city do you live in? I’m in vancouver.
I live right next to Vancouver, in Camas. Small world!
Looks great but it would look better if you did the frames around the windows 😉
We'd love to! But we also wanna paint the siding so probably wanna decide what color that would be first
@@EvanAndKatelyn I love watching you guys build stuff its so relaxing.
100% Agree👍👍
@@EvanAndKatelyn Maybe you could paint the siding white but then the trim around the windows and doors black to match the hardware and lights? A little bit Farmhouse but that could look really nice! Love the door color!
You guys are so awesome. You should do a house tour of all of the renovations you have done.
Maybe one day! 😁
I love your front door, and not just the repaint, but the actual architecture of it. It looks so classy.
The toothpicks work well as long as you glue them in with wood glue 👍🏼
ehhhh whoops! Well if it ever gets loose, we'll add some glue 😁😄
You guys are literally amazing!!! Not only is your content funny but you take the time to make sure to explain what your doing and what the best way to do it is ( even if it means doing it 3 times ) 😅
Thank you so much! We definitely try to balance making the video entertaining but also including some tips/stuff we learn 😄😀
Thank Go, you changed those lights, big difference!!! Cute how your learning together and results looks amazing.
I just needed you to know, Evan and Katelyn, that I rewatch these makeover vids of yours a lot. They never get boring and they always make me smile no matter how bad the day was. Thank you so much!!

I have a cat that looks like yours but it has a white spot on its chest and mine is a short hair cat!
You are awesome!
❤️🧡💛💚💙💜
It looks so nice and classy now! And most of the screw holes in my house are filled with toothpicks by now. I think the previous owner used to install screws with a hammer. 🙄 That is totally a life hack that works!
Haha it's so nice and fancy 🧐 that it's making the rest of our house look dingy now lol 🏚️🏠 OMG maybe we had the same previous owner for our houses 😂🤣 also why the heck would you EVER install a ceiling fan using only nais?! 1) dangerous and 2) SO hard to get out. Sometimes you just have to shake your head and move on lol
@@EvanAndKatelyn I've started to not hang anything heavy on the walls. It's just safer that way! 😬😂
We always have sawdust everywhere, we started saving it so when we have a stripped hole we can mix it with school glue and fill the hole. It’s cheaper than buying toothpicks since we will always have sawdust and buy giant jugs of glue.
Im so glad you changed those lights! So much better!
Feel so nostalgic watching this video and hearing Evan and Katelyn saying we'll pass 200k tonight! Big achievement out there since now they have more 1M+ subscribers!
It feels like just yesterday you hit 100k . Congratulations!!!!

Watching you brings me so much joy because my whole life I didn't know I was looking for something like what you have. It looks so pure and beautiful.
Aw thank you! ❤️❤️
I love the door, but now I feel you need to do something about the windows :P
Yeah, beside the door the rest looks really shoddy now :D
Haha yeah the windows are pretty rough, we need to replace the screens and paint the trim. We actually wanna paint all the siding!
jajajajaja me diverti mucho con su video, y la puerta quedo genial
Gracias!
Looks good. The only reason I have toothpicks in my house is for fixing screw holes or for testing if he cake is done, but for larger holes like the ones you had, I use wooden golf tees with the finish sanded off and wood glued into place. Adding wood glue will really make a lasting repair.
Haha! Yes, we previously only uses them for doneness testing. Thanks for the additional tips!
Looks great! And I TOTALLY agree in the choice of lights.
Thank you! Oh man I'm so glad we swapped the lights!
The #1 thing I took from this video was that your breaker panel is OUTSIDE YOUR HOUSE!? why the why??
Haha we didn't know it wasn't common til the comments started rolling in! It's pretty normal in our area.... but now I'm paranoid about horror movie stuff happening 😱😱
when you're doing Photoshop mockups you can include a ruler in the actual photo so you can have a size reference when pasting in pictures of products! #lifehacksthatactuallywork
yes, that's so handy! I feel like I should do that more often instead of eyeballing it
A dollar bill works too.
I love you guys. You know what would be a great idea? A sliding door, like on Star Wars, Star Trek or, eh, the supermarket. Looks like you could use a hands free door.
New lights definitely better than first option. Great color.
"Wait till tomorrow to install the door hardware..."
Wait, so how did you lock your door overnight? o.O
I love you even more now after that Jenna Marbles reference!
We love Jenna! Dink fam!

bahahaha, that should be a paint line
Door color is great. I use that toothpick trick on my electric guitars when the screw for the straplock gets loose! Tried and true for years!
Golf tees and a little wood glue also does a great job filling holes. Put a little glue on the tee, push it into the hole and cut it off. Of course, you have to drill the hole again but it works great.

you've become my absolute favourite channel on youtube. I cannot tell you how many times i've been inspired to make something because of you two!!
Aww yay that is so great to hear 😊🙌
Toothpicks covered in wood glue, can be cut in half, works great for hardware or hinge screwholes that are stripped out. You can lightly tap into place with a hammer. Wait for glue to dry, do new pilot holes, and you have nice new sturdy screws.
