Pro tip for Janelle. Use a unibit for sheetmetal holes instead of a normal drill bit. The holes will drill easier and more true, and well, just better lol.
I'd bet if you guys built up Cherokees just like this, but street legal, you could sell them faster than you can build them. That thing is super cool . In my opinion, it's a near perfect Cherokee.
Yep , Matt's off-road can build lots of Bananas, Trailmater can build Mini Maters(little wreckers) let them all take over the sandunes and Rock faces .
Well if Rory doesn’t pick things out then you know you have a good build. As a total noob who doesn’t build stuff I think it’s awesome. Watching the live stream of Johnson valley is unbelievable how quickly the place fills up. Good luck with it gang.
"Can you eat the biodegradable packing peanuts" is not the same as "should you," nor the same as "will you enjoy the experience." (Yeah, I've tried'em.) ;-)
Rudy, great work. FYI: Water soluble (dissolving) corn starch packing peanuts that are safe for disposal in your sink, That is the purpose. Have actually been a thing as far as I have known for over 30 years. I haven't seen any actual information stating they are approved for human consumption. Just safe for disposal in municipal utilities, instead of blowing in the wind like the pink foam ones tend to do.
Shout out to Zak at Dutchman Axles! Still running 38s on their Chromo axle shafts on my Hybrid Dana 3044HP and after a few offroad trips, they still look Brand New! That's a great company you're dealing with! You can't go wrong! Not to mention amazing customer service! Glad to see them getting more into the offroad world 🌎
I like the idea of the surge tank on your fuel system. I did something very similar on my 69 Chevy pickup that I used to trail ride a lot. I put fuel injection on it and needed a way to keep the fuel pump from sucking air when the fuel was sloshing around. I put a small tank in between the fuel tank and the engine. The small tank had 2 fuel injection pumps in it and was fed by 2 low pressure pumps. It worked great until I made the mistake of letting it sit with 10% ethanol in it.
Rudy we came into Hammertown on the 30th We ran into some other RUclipsrs. No one had seen you we talked to Holly. She tried to tell us where your camp was. We gave up. Two welder fabricators, and three guys to turn. Wrenches we wanted to help you with your car, but we couldn’t find you.
Glad your doing this, I just love just because. I've really enjoyed watching this series. Hope you do well in the race, can't wait for it to come out. Good luck and have a good good time.
That thing looks awesome! Wish my XJ looked half as good! Not to be a complete A-hole (for starters some original parts are missing, so not complete) but was very glad to see ya putting the sauce in the diffs! That's the thing about those kinda mistakes, you almost never make that one again. Keep up the good work.
Awesome Job Guy's, I really think this Jeep will do great in the race. I just wish you guy's would have had more time practice with it ya know. Thanks for the video guy's 👋
Those packing peanuts have been around for 20 years. I remember experimenting with them when they first came out. I have never put them in my mouth, though, because while they are inherently utterly harmless, you never know where they've been since they were made or what might have been burrowing through them. 🤔 They have proven to be less than ideal for long term storage because the critters like them. 😅
XJ is coming out amazing! I'm sure this is how every XJ owner would build one, If we were rich! 😅 I really can't stand racing of any kind! But we love ya brother! And support you! And unless you like disposable jeeps like I do, this is how you should build one from the beginning! Or half build it, offroad, then throw it in the garbage! I don't think I'll ever go back to jeeps after getting my first gen Tacoma S.A.Swap, I'm done with a brand that Sucks since 06, and after having to change Everything on a jeep, just to have a great wheeler! My Taco 🌮 S.A.Swap is just that, Truck/Frame/2 axles, and she's already hung on multiple trips with the giant overbuilt Sheep's! 😂 and I'll always have a soft spot for Jeeps, but after working on, driving and slowly building my Yota, I've seen the light! Good luck brother! 👍
Darn we've driven up and down the washout many times and the other road couldn't find you. I am there with all the guys from slow ride and over budget Baja's I'm sure you've seen us there's about 30 of us there with Volkswagen beetles and most of us are extremely modified.
Zach, you need to tell us what it's like being Rudy's (and Janelle's) roommate. That would be interesting to hear about. Does he talk about the build in his sleep or does he suddenly wake up with a solution to something he's been dreaming about ?
Rudi get a Nissan gu patrol they meet the 25 year rule you can import them now you don't need to there stock diffs are insanely strong really good flex only downside is the motors are kinda .... But easy to convert to like Cummins or om606 ect would be super cool to see an American build one would get pretty insane views
Pro tip for Janelle. Use a unibit for sheetmetal holes instead of a normal drill bit. The holes will drill easier and more true, and well, just better lol.
Yes, a unibit is definitely the best choice for drilling sheet metal easily and accurately
And safely
Mr. Higgins seems to approve 😊
I'd bet if you guys built up Cherokees just like this, but street legal, you could sell them faster than you can build them. That thing is super cool . In my opinion, it's a near perfect Cherokee.
Na, because even if you put $50k into a Cherokee people still think they are worth $3k 😂
Yep , Matt's off-road can build lots of Bananas, Trailmater can build Mini Maters(little wreckers) let them all take over the sandunes and Rock faces .
That IS a dang lookin bumper
Good to see that Higgins approves of the driver's seat. Job well done, inspector Higgins!
Man you really cut it close on everything but you always make it cool AF. Good luck Team RAD!!
Well if Rory doesn’t pick things out then you know you have a good build. As a total noob who doesn’t build stuff I think it’s awesome. Watching the live stream of Johnson valley is unbelievable how quickly the place fills up. Good luck with it gang.
The end of this build is near. Great job Rudy and team!!!
Always good to see Rory; I would trust his opinion 100%. Looking forward to seeing it race.
Janelle is an absolute keeper, built is look great team Rad
"Can you eat the biodegradable packing peanuts" is not the same as "should you," nor the same as "will you enjoy the experience." (Yeah, I've tried'em.) ;-)
Diff fluid, yeah let’s not forget that stuff😊
The roll cage bars coming thru the grill, is awesome! Looks so cool!
That pup has a perfect name
Rudy, It's nice to see you making progress with your KOH vehicle.
It seems like suddenly everything came together and you made so much progress ! 👍
I ❤ how those tubes look coming out through the front grill that is just totally RAD... !!!!! 😅😂😅
Dang looking bumper, I mean Dang, look at the that. I got a good laugh there guys.
They may make ball joints that are adjustable for your camber
Awesome Build!!
That thing looks like a unit!
Your jeep looks fantastic!
Eccentric caster bushings for the upper ball joints will help take out some of that front tire lean
Impressive what you guys have done in a couple weeks in the desert.
Rudy, great work. FYI: Water soluble (dissolving) corn starch packing peanuts that are safe for disposal in your sink, That is the purpose. Turning into one of my favorite builds.
Great work ya'll!
JEEP. DESERT BUILT, DESERT TESTED !!
You guys are kicking ass! Can't wait to see it hit the hammers!
Seems like a dang legit name for a dang nice xj.
Nice work!
I love this series of videos because by the end of each day you’re all slaphappy.
I can't believe you're sending out merch from there! I got my warm RAD beanie from Johnson Valley!
👏👏👏👏
I THINK YOU'RE DOING AMAZING IN SUCH A SHORT TIME!
Glad to see them getting more into the offroad world 🌎
Dutchman is an absolutely phenomenal company to work with. From hotrod to full custom to off road axles, they are one of the top places to go
3:36 the best “dang” bumper
It looks like Janelle will have a nice rig to drive alongside the Rudicon.
Quite a rig 😮 good luck

HEY! Hello Rudy and Janelle !!
That’s a DANG lookin Jeep
Your Jeep is looking AWESOME!!! Can't wait to see it in action. You guys have done an amazing job building it out in the desert!!!
Rudy we came into Hammertown on the 30th
We ran into some other RUclipsrs. No one had seen you we talked to Holly. She tried to tell us where your camp was. We gave up.
Two welder fabricators, and three guys to turn. Wrenches we wanted to help you with your car, but we couldn’t find you.
Harder to find is easier than every Tom, Dick and Harry walking though frame the whole time
No U-bolts for the axle to leaf springs? Relying on those perch welds doesn't seem tough enough.
Just look at it!! Haha love it!
Dang nice xj !
That is an absolute beast of a rear axle
Looks GREAT Rudy! Have fun racing it.....
Looks really good!!
Keeping my fingers crossed this thing gets done
Can wait to see it running. i think you should take my comanche back home and build it for me 😅😅😅😅
It's looking fantastic!
Higgins has claimed the XJ !!!
Don't forget to put oil in the diffs 😁
Glad your doing this, I just love just because. I've really enjoyed watching this series. Hope you do well in the race, can't wait for it to come out. Good luck and have a good good time.
There's a t-shirt for you ("dang looking bumper 👀")
Sticker too 😂
It is awesome Rudy! I knew you could do it......
Thats dang looking!
Great progress. You are building a beast.

Could be , might be , maybe. Heck yeah, this rig is so cool . Get er done ✅
Great job
Looking Good 👍😎✊
You need to have a 1/64 made of that. The way it is just before race day !!!!!🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Looks nice bro 👍
The Almighty KING of the Hammer down for pound for pound in downtown Baja ville is Team RAD tag Cherokee. 😅
It looks bad ass. I wish I had the money to do something like that.
Great job again.

Thought I saw Early Cuyler there for a second around the mid 25 minute range

A Impressive amouth of work you guys did. And it is starting to get one of the most beautiful Cherokees around🙌🙌🙌
I like what you did with the u bolts.. lack of that is.
The packing peanut may dissolve, but it certainly isn't sanitary.
Holy moly, let the party begin😮
Reminds me of a Transformer!👍👍
Hope you're keeping an eye on the Weather, reports are Rain and wind this week.
They may make ball joints that are adjustable for your camber 15 years
Don’t forget to put oil in the differentials 😂😂😂
Bad to the bone. Those diff's are like WOW
Popcorn peanuts are made from rice. Feed them to your chickens.
Thanks Guys
This makes me miss my Cherokee.
Alright 👌🏼 the crew is back 2gthr !!!! 😂
Man U guys would be in a better place if you hadn't lost the shop. Good luck 🤞 guys 🍀.
It's going to be sweet when done. But unfortunately, just like the mini cooper build, it's not going to be finished in time for the race
That’s a dang looking bumper 😂
Oh no, Sky Flowers. Rudy now forgets why he is there. R'i'Pieces jeep.
Just keep the Cooper fail in the back of your mind and keep pushing. And remember to check fluids.😵💫
Darn we've driven up and down the washout many times and the other road couldn't find you. I am there with all the guys from slow ride and over budget Baja's I'm sure you've seen us there's about 30 of us there with Volkswagen beetles and most of us are extremely modified.
If you find the TMR guys off the main road, we are straight west where the lake bed drops down
Thought it had to be stock axles
Zach, you need to tell us what it's like being Rudy's (and Janelle's) roommate.
That would be interesting to hear about. Does he talk about the build in his sleep or does he suddenly wake up with a solution to something he's been dreaming about ?

Sweet
That rear axle is sooo beefy
