When I was 16 in 1985 I bought a 1983 Volkswagen GTI, which was the last of the Rabbit GTI’s built in Germany. Back then all of the GTI’s were 2-Door, which I love. I have never understood why they make them in a four-door. Or any of the other tuner cars for that matter. Like the Subaru, WRX, etc. It makes no sense to me. It’s not exactly the kind of car that you get to pile the kids in. That’s what my SUV is for. ☮️💜😊

Great pronunciation. Two times! First the Doppelkupplungsgetriebe and than the Schrauben (which means screws) on the little black case. I‘m really impressed. Best from Deutschland,
DSG stands for Doppelkupplung Schalt Getriebe ✌🏻️ It has two clutches, which in German is zwei kupplungen which in its point can be referred as double oder doppel. The direct shift mention comes from the readiness of the gears and the time it takes to shift to the next gear. The more you know!
It is indeed a dual clutch transmission. That’s what makes it direct shift because the next gear is already engaged before you shift into it. Also, they do have launch control. You have to put the gear selector in manual and turn off traction control, and press the brake pedal extremely hard. I had the same car with no check engine light as well 😁
i love the mk6 platform. its like a sportier honda jazz. great use of space. the manual is great. the dsg is good too. and they are cheap as chips. perfect starter car imo. my 2nd car i owned was a mkl6 golf (non gti) as i wanted all the added extras (handsfree, alcantara everything, parking sensors, heated seats)
Freddy's very German pronunciation of a very difficult German word is very impressive. Much better than I could do. I've been to Germany. This VW GTI would have been way cooler with a proper manual gearbox. Good luck. Thank you.
Gotta love German run on nouns. My Mk3 I had while stationed in Germany had a fuel system fault. I fixed it by changing the einspritzeinheitunterteile.
Doppelkupplungsgetriebe DSG von Volkswagen - DSG stands for Direct Shift Gearbox, which is a type of automatic transmission that combines the precision of a manual transmission with the convenience of an automatic transmission. DSGs are also known as dual-clutch transmissions (DCTs) or twin-clutch systems
This engine without checking timing chain, tensioner, and turbo is a ticking time bomb. they came with defective tensioner from factory and need to be replaced with updated version tensioner.
i can vouch for that, 2009 models mainly mine required an expensive engine rebuild due to it failing did a litre of oil every thousand miles too sometimes more lol
I was under the impression they fixed the tensioner in mid 2012 so a 2013 should have the updated tensioner. I wouldn't know, I bought a 7.5 just so I could avoid the issue 😅
Doppelkupplungsgetriebe is a DSG gearbox. This car got the DQ250 DSG gearbox. All dsg have a dobbel clutch, just like the pdk. Clutch 1 for 1, 3 and 5th gear. And clutch 2 for 2nd, 4th and 6th gear. Love your content. The wheels got the wrong ET. The right ET-offset for this car is 45 ish, but it seems like ET25

Great to see a proper hot hatch on the channel. Especially being an Mk6. The 6 tends to get forgotten between the awesome Mk5 and the very popular Mk7. I’m in the process of fixing one up myself.

I had the MK 7.5 Golf R. Beautiful interior and exterior. The driving capability is pretty good, just got the new one I’m still waiting to get it, MK8 supposed to be pretty good! 👍 god I love drifting these cars in the snow ⛄️ 😊
19:00 hey umm... we have never been introduced to "jack", jack... just a background shot here, and there... this is the first i have heard him even speak!! we MUST have an ALL JACK EPISODE!!
He has his own channel, Jack Builds It
Different jack! this one is Shop Dad
I agree. And I’m glad I’m not the only person who thought that’s not jack?!? I like this jack as well. He’s just new and Freddy has no manners to introduce him. lol.
One of my coworkers has a GTI, and it's stunning! Red with gold wheels.. It sounds good as well
DSG, Direkt Schalt Getriebe, IS a dual clutch gearbox. I'm surprised by how fast and easy this was turned into a real car. Well done guys 🙂
Had an ‘11 and ‘13 Mk6 and loved them both. Miss them still!
I like this type of content.
Great pronunciation. Two times! First the Doppelkupplungsgetriebe and than the Schrauben (which means screws) on the little black case. I‘m really impressed. Best from Deutschland,
At first I was like eww why put stock wheels back on and then I saw the stock wheels. Hard to believe it's such a big improvement.
And they are pretty expensive
They weren't stock gti wheels they were edition 35 bbs wheels. Unless they were offered as an option in the US for gti models.
@@Priza25they came on my stock GTI back in 2013
@@Priza25 all 2014 US models came standard with them for the final model year
@masonwagner6023 only game on 35th anniversary or edition 35 as they are known gtis in the UK. Monza wheels came stock on normal gtis.
As a MK6 GTI owner, I am so happy to see this on the channel. Thank you ❤
Mk 6 is worst gti ever.
@@NZstylz-r7v 360,000km currently.
Damn it feels illegal to be this early
DSG stands for Doppelkupplung Schalt Getriebe ✌🏻️ It has two clutches, which in German is zwei kupplungen which in its point can be referred as double oder doppel. The direct shift mention comes from the readiness of the gears and the time it takes to shift to the next gear. The more you know!
9:20 @MightyCarMods reference
It is indeed a dual clutch transmission. That’s what makes it direct shift because the next gear is already engaged before you shift into it. Also, they do have launch control. You have to put the gear selector in manual and turn off traction control, and press the brake pedal extremely hard. I had the same car with no check engine light as well 😁
Wrench Everyday Gang OGs know
Hi Freddy, I´m a big fan of your Channel from Germany and i can say you speak "Doppelkupplungsgetriebe" very well in german🤗
This would be an awesome meme 12:20 "no"
5:10 bro that doppelkupplungsgetriebe was flawless holy moly
Who is from South Africa 🇿🇦? 😂
😂
😂 this car is from Eldos
😂🤟🏾
Ofcoz we here 😂😂😂
i love the mk6 platform. its like a sportier honda jazz. great use of space. the manual is great. the dsg is good too. and they are cheap as chips. perfect starter car imo. my 2nd car i owned was a mkl6 golf (non gti) as i wanted all the added extras (handsfree, alcantara everything, parking sensors, heated seats)
Freddy's very German pronunciation of a very difficult German word is very impressive. Much better than I could do. I've been to Germany. This VW GTI would have been way cooler with a proper manual gearbox. Good luck. Thank you.
This made my GTI heart happy. Someone's really gonna enjoy this thing
Bro is buying South Africans cars 😂
Gotta love German run on nouns. My Mk3 I had while stationed in Germany had a fuel system fault. I fixed it by changing the einspritzeinheitunterteile.
0:46 what kind of story you do on main channel 😂
Horror stories😂
He starts building cars that he never finishes.🥴
Doppelkupplungsgetriebe DSG von Volkswagen - DSG stands for Direct Shift Gearbox, which is a type of automatic transmission that combines the precision of a manual transmission with the convenience of an automatic transmission. DSGs are also known as dual-clutch transmissions (DCTs) or twin-clutch systems
This engine without checking timing chain, tensioner, and turbo is a ticking time bomb. they came with defective tensioner from factory and need to be replaced with updated version tensioner.
i can vouch for that, 2009 models mainly
mine required an expensive engine rebuild due to it failing
did a litre of oil every thousand miles too sometimes more lol
Glad to see someone working on a VAG car especially a golf gti
Can I just say that your hair looks good, it really looks like it's coming together well with keeps.
Love my non-pimped out '13 GTI Driver's Edition. So glad you put the Laguna wheels on it!!
Conti tires are all I've put on my cars for the last 20 years. DWS's for pretty much everything here in the midwest.
My favorite movie cars- Steve McQueen’s mustang in Bullitt, Paul Walker’s skyline from 2 Fast 2 Furious, and The Rock’s f-150 in Walking Tall (honorable mention to Marty McFly’s Toyota Tacoma from Back to the Future)
Haven’t finished the episode yet but I’m already offering up my 2001 Mazda Miata project as a trade for this GTi! I always loved these hatches.
email them
You'd be amazed at that MK6 platform if you give it a proper big turbo build.
Congratulations, Freddie, on the new cool content update. I hope it goes well for you. Good luck.
I really want to see you finish your projects, you’ve got so many cool builds that are only half done. We also need a full car tour, I’ve lost track of how many different builds you have.
When you were talking about favourite movie cars, mine is and always will be the Plymouth Fury from the movie Christine. You guys should get one and turn it into Christine. Absolutely love your channels.
Gti are the best daily car and definitely a hell of a car if built. That’s Jeremy clarkson daily and the son of the owner of the Ferrari here in Orlando drives also.
Doppelkupplungsgetriebe translates to Dual Clutch Transmission, and the VW DSG is also a dual clutch so it's perfectly fitting.
Love the approach of the restoration process and the new vlog style of this channel
Great to see a proper hot hatch on the channel. Especially being an Mk6. The 6 tends to get forgotten between the awesome Mk5 and the very popular Mk7.
I’m in the process of fixing one up myself.
A friend of the family had a GTI once back in the '80s and they made the mistake of letting me drive it. They're fun little cars. Nice job on the rehab and good luck trading it for the next project.
Mk6 GTI’s are great. Top tier interior soft touch material as well.
You should do a show letting teams compete using your guidance to do the thing you do. I watch that.
I love both channels, but i love it even more when you talk about how cold it is..... In Florida.... Comes spend the winter in new england (or canada) and i live at the southern end of new england.
I loved when you wrote Art of the Flip for Jalopnik so I'm looking forward to those videos!
