Loved this song as long as I remember. Don’t remember this clip but I do remember the clip of the band playing this (on GTK maybe?) also black n white. I think of Spectrum as an Aussie band, but Mike Rudd was a Kiwi I think. Great blues based band, and Mike gives the harmonica a good go.
Now this is a real classic. Saw them live in the eighties and had one of the best nights. Their light show was amazing, they used some sort of coloured spinning oil wheel with the light projected through it - totally psychedelic!
@@wayback479 I work in an Office for the Government. Everything is timed, and everything is recorded, including the screens randomly which they check. Don’t know why, but I’ve been there for 17 years.
This was a huge hit in the early 70’s . Mike Rudd the singer and his band Spectrum were very popular . Giving off that easy flowing attitude from the hippie movement. A lot of ppl wanted to do that but as you say had responsibilities. The world was changing back then . Spectrum actually released an album later in their career but they changed their name to Murtceps . Spectrum backwoods . I miss those days as a teenager growing up and finding my way 😊Thx Mike
We are similar age and likes... instantly I see the thumbnail I know it's one of your picks. If it looks a bit left field and unusual it's probably Gorch 🤣😂🤣
In a later song "what the world needs is a new pair of socks", Mike sings "you think you've got the answer, say love is all you need, but what's the good of love when you've got cold feet?"
I always remember Murtceps when Spectrum is mentioned. It’s Spectrum spelled backwards. * The Indelible Murtceps were an Australian progressive rock and dance-pop band, which formed, as a side project of Spectrum, in October 1971.
Brilliant, I actually play this on a high rotation. Always loved that harmonica, with that great drum beat and of course that strong masculine singing voice 😌👌. I must say, I prefer to big hat over the peak cap 😀. By the way, if you turn the Texas map upside down, it looks like a distorted map of Australia 😃👍
I still remember this great song from when I was in primary school in Victoria, Australia. Have loved it for decades! Wow, makes me feel like a kid again.
Nice one, Greg. ❤️ I didn’t recognise the name, but as soon as that opening harmonica riff started the lightbulb went off over my head and I had to start singing ❤ Thanks, mate for another beauty! ❤🇦🇺👍
My brother was a muso, he gave up full time work at about age 42. Up until then he was doing both, he used to gig a few times a week and he took an early redundancy. For the next 22 years until he passed in 2019 he played 4 or 5 times a week on the Blues circuit here and did a bit of travelling around Australia. I understand what you mean about standing on your feet all day long, I did that as a Printer for about 30 odd years doing shift work on rotating shifts. I started my own small home based business in 2009 and still do that, I dont make a fortune but no longer have the grind I had. You have to find the work/life balance that works for you.
G'Day Mike. I hit the like button for a few reasons. If YT pops a vidio into my feed and it already has the Thumbs Up hilighted I know I have already seen it. Another reason is I know it helps the video get more views amd that grows the channel I am watching. lastly I don't have spare funds to buy a coffee for all of the channels I watch.
I started working casually when I was 15 and finally managed to escape school (which I loathed )at 18 . Got into a trade but by the time I was 22, I needed a change so I joined the police force and did that until the day I retired . Best job ever in my opinion.
I started work at 15 to help out the family. We were brought up to have a good work ethic and I did the same with my children. A life of living on the road has no appeal to me.
@@jenniferharrison8915 Nah. I’ve known loads of kids who’ve saved money going to school and having side jobs, waitressing or bar tending. Doesn’t cost us taxpayers a thing. Good on ‘em. ❤
Yes Mike we can blame our post war driven parents and with me, personally, being the eldest child, responsibility was the name of the game. Maybe next time around for us. Read a story once, a true story, about a guy who said yes to every adventure, had sailed the seas, lived an incredible life and did not seem any worse off than those of us who stayed the course and denied ourselves many things. Which way is the best?? Damn Jack Kerouac!

Another song I grew up listening to on Aussie radio in the 70's....

My big sister ised to love this song and band. Brought back memories for me too. I guess i was mid- teens and she was at uni. Thanks Mike
As an Australian, I appreciate this dose of nostalgia. Cheers, mate!
Great song, very easy to groove to.
Oh, not getting timed at work sounds like heaven…… everything I do at work is timed and monitored. Thank goodness that I don’t work Tuesdays.🎉🎉🎉 🎉🎉
@@kazz3956 hi Kazz , I couldn’t deal with that . What do you do ?
