1977 Golden Earring played this live at our engagement party. My family owned a 5 star hotel and Golden Earring were staying there. They got back from their gig and asked what was going on. We told them and they played Radar Love acoustically for us. I have tears in my eyes, thank you.
@@hansolo2121This is what I despise about RUclips comment sections. You take something so trivial like a mistake in a thumbnail and turn it into a personal attack on my being a true fan. I didn't even notice something so unimportant, and, oh by the way, he did pronounce the name correctly in the video so your comment is totally pointless. Generally comments on music channels are focused on giving facts about the artists, recommending other songs and making comments on what the reactors said, you know constructive and interesting stuff. This song is one of those songs that if you’re driving and it comes on the radio, you just can’t help but put your foot down. It was released in 1973 and still considered, not only one of the ultimate driving songs, but a timeless classic.
I am retired now but……..when I was a State Trooper (I won’t say which state) I used to pray for this song to come on the radio when I got into a pursuit. 👍💪🫡
- This was a big hit, and a favorite of mine. - They have another "hit" song ("Twilight Zone"), but they will always be remembered for "RADAR LOVE" (great groove, changes, lyrics, and vocals). "One more radar lover gone!"
This choice made me so happy for Valentine’s Day. About a month from now it will be 50 years since I met my husband. A few weeks later, this song was released in the US and we soon claimed it as “our song.” Big, big smiles.
Brenda Lee's biggest hit was "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree", a number 1 song in 1958, and in 2023. She also had hits with "Sweet Nothin's", number 4 in 1959, and the song mentioned here "Coming on Strong", a number 11 song in 1966. Coming on Strong was a song about heartbreaking loss. And at least one Radar Love has left us in this song.
Saw them @ Winterland in '74 with Joe Cocker & JoJo Gunn. The drum kit was clear & each one was wired w/a different colored light to flash when hit. They played the first part of the song pretty much in the dark ...only the drum lights going. From what I remember (😅) it was a good concert
I'm from their city originally and lived in the same street as the drummer for a while. True legends in The Hague. The main church even played this tune on their anniversary day with the church bells.
On bass - Marinus Gerritsen On drums - Cesar Zuiderwijk Main vocals - Barry Hays Lead guitar and vocal - George Kooymans The band was active until recently but stopped performing after George Kooymans was diagnosed with A.L.S. aka motor neuron disease so he can no longer play guitar. His prognosis is not good. This band has put out some great music. Weekend Love. When the Bullet Hits the Bone. When the Lady Smiles.
Golden Earring is the best known and internationally most succesful rock band to come out of the Netherlands. Formed in 1961, Golden Earring has been active for more than 50 years non-stop, which makes them the world's longest surviving rock band, formed a year before The Rolling Stones. Radar Love was a world wide hit. According to Rustyn Rose at Metalholic, the song "is a rock masterpiece, from its hooky chugging bassline, to its simple but unmistakable riffs, to its catchy anthemesque chorus. Even the jam which rides the song out is note for note classic." The song has been chosen by many magazines and websites as a Top 10 driving song, often ranking in the top three. It was chosen as the best radio song by readers of the Washington Post in November 2001. It was the #1 driving song in Australia (Australian Musician Magazine, November 2005), beating two AC/DC songs; and in Canada (BBC Canada, March 2006).[10] In 2011 it received a vast number of votes as the "Ultimate Driving Song" in a poll on PlanetRock and "finished well ahead of its nearest rival, Deep Purple's Highway Star."[11]..........Please check out there live version of "Long blond animal" one of the 70+ hitsingles of The Earrings (so called in the early 60"s) . this was big when I got out of the army in 1977. every time I drove out of range of a radio station, the next song that began on the new station was RADAR love.
It was a pleasure watching you grooving along to this song. A great hit off the band's Moontan album. Even better when one realises the band's first language is Dutch not English.
Brother I'm a truck driver I listen to this song on my way home after driving out here on the road it touches your soul when you get tired and you trying to make it home
This was a favorite from a favorite album of mine back in the day! Thanks to the suggestor and to Jarvis with your excellent shows! Appreciate both of you!

What a nice story..!! Golden Earring is dutch band, and i think the best rock band we ever had. All guys are from Den Haag (The Hague).
