@@kmftalonmobile It's from MoPop Honors Alice In Chains from 2020. The whole thing is on youtube, and it's all good if you like AIC, but I think you can find that individual performance too.
These sisters are the most talented and popular women entertainers in rock for the past 50 years, without compromising their art for popularity. Each can sing incredibly, and one is the best female guitarist, too.
Trying to catch up on the CLASSIC ROCK, they are sisters, Ann and Nancy Wilson. Supposedly when they were 12-13? Not sure they both got MONONUCLEOSIS (kissing disease), and lasted anywhere between 4-6 weeks, very contagious, their mom had to keep them home from school, and she went and bought a guitar 🎸 and said do something useful while your sick. And they did!!! Pretty sure that’s what happened. By the way MAGIC MAN, Dreamboat Annie all their songs are good and saw them live great show. Had to save my money buy my ticket, it was worth it!!!!
Barracuda fish can be more dangerous than sharks in certain instances. They’ve hospitalized people on more than one occasion - possibly killed, though I’d have to check that to be certain. They’re ambush predators that hit incredibly fast and hard. What usually happens is poor visibility conditions and it mistakes you for a fish - usually due to something shiny. They hit so fast and hard they don’t realize you’re not a fish until after the fact. They’re unnerving when you encounter them. Even small ones (like only a foot) seem to have no fear of people - they just stare at you. Pure predator.
Barracuda are viscous fish. In this song, she is referring to cruel lying record executives that lied about she and her sister. They are creatures that hurt others, for gain, without consciences. She has an Amazing voice.😊❤❤❤
The band had had a very successful album: Dreamboat Annie. As a publicity move, their label, Mushroom Records, released a picture of the Dreamboat Annie cover with the words "it was only our first time." The sisters were furious, but Anne was inspired. She wrote "Barracuda" about the sisters' manager, whose idea the image was. Interestingly, Anne's fury gave a power to her voice that she hadn't had before.
My favorite performance by Ann & Nancy is when they sang Led Zeppelins song 'Stairway to heaven' to honor them at the Kennedy Center. The performance was mind blowing & Ann was in her 60's at the time. Led Zeps drummer John Bonham has passed away & his son played drums for the performance for an added bonus & he wore his dad's 'Bowler' hat, that he was known for. Super special performance. The guy's got a few tears watching Ann tear it up.
I still have this record in my record collection that was my parents. They had a wide range of artists they listened to of every genre and they used to have some kick-ass barbecue / keg parties when I was a kid. This is why I grew up playing three different instruments and singing as well and loving every genre of music.
If you like Heart, next try another one of their numerous Mega-hits, "Crazy On You". Then take a step off their hard stuff into a softer tune with "Dreamboat Annie"
Crazy on You...has to be next! These sisters rocked it out in the 70's. We didn't have to many rock females in the 70's to look up to. But these two..Power houses!
Back before Heart, people didn't think girls/women could ROCK like the guys & Heart PROVED them wrong & laid the foundation for others to achieve their dreams & not be "boxed into specific or certain genres" of music!! The 70's was THE GREATEST DECADE of music diversity & talent!!
YESSS! Heart! Saw them in concert in the 70’s! They are amazing! Your take is spot on with the context. Would love to see you do more of this fantastic band! ❤️🔥✌🏻🫶🏻
I too saw them at Cal Jam II here in California in 78. I was passed out from the previous night sleeping in front of an enormous speaker tower, and was awakened from my stupor by Heart. That was the best concert I ever experienced, and I went to a lot of them!
Lead guitar is her sister . She is the reason I became a successful rock singer. I rode from Rochester to Toronto in the back of a 76 Ford Pinto! Remember, they'd explode if hit from behind, doing 90. Saw live many times, sound exactly the same. I owe her my career
Total icons! Ann has a legendary voice. Nancy can also sing very well and kills it on guitar as well. They helped pave the way for women in rock music!
The band Heart has re-invented themselves a couple of different times while keeping up with the times going from the hard rockin' 70's to the hair bands of the 80's, but this is at their iconic best. The sisters Ann, lead singer, and Nancy on guitar, are just amazing. The only problem is that the rest of the band were also outstanding in their own right and would be over-shadowed. By the mid-80's most had left the band. The other songs you really need to check out is "Dream Boat Annie", "Crazy on You", and "I Only Want to Make Love to You".
She's one of the best rock singers ever, from any gender. This is the studio take of the song dubbed over a concert performance. The vocals and video are surprisingly close given that.
It's fortunate a lot of bands from that time truly perfected live performances. It's how they made a living, gained a following, which then got the records produced. Heart toured around the Pacific northwest, going into Canada where I saw them
The song is about a the sexism in the music industry at the time, and a music industry journalist who made up a horrible lie about Ann and Nancy Wilson (Heart) saying that the sisters were in an incestuous lesbian relationship. There’s more to the story, check it out. That being said, the barracuda is a vicious ruthless fish. The porpoise is a gentle and shy animal (similar to a dolphin). You can probably figure out the rest of the song from there.
They are sisters. Nancy is on Guitar and Ann is the lead singer. One of my FAVORITE bands. Yes I leveled up a LOT. But I am not OLD. Magic Man, Dog and Butterfly.... gosh SOOOOOO many great songs!
Their voices are some of the best in the history of rock. No effects, no auto tune, and they never miss a note. Absolute legends! You should check out Crazy On You!
This is back in the day, when you actually had to sing good to be a good singer.. instead of having all the vocals autotuned to where they are supposed to hit. Sounds much nicer when it's clean then having it run through microprocessors on the way out to the audience.
One of the best voices in the history of rock. Check out the Kennedy Center tribute to Led Zeppelin. She kills Stairway. Makes the original band in attendance cry. Too amazing.
Right because the original track got too old and distorted. I heard it and understood why they had to do it. But how incredible is a band that you can lay the studio version over a live performance and it fits!! ♥️
The song was written about the industry in general they had a promoter who thought their music required some extra hook to sell, Ann and Nancy Wilson were Partiers at the time and some of their sexual exploits were well known that also included (reportedly) them sharing people, typical rock stars in the 70s and 80s in other words. their promoter thought it would be a good idea to play upon a rumor and portray them as incestuous lesbians, so the song was written in a rage against that person. There are numerous accounts of it online, better more in depth. the term barracuda makes the promoter some fast moving, ugly fish with a lot of teeth
Mushroom Exec insinuated a relationship between sister's Ann/Nancy. Ann got pissed and went back to hotel (male dominant rec world) and penned it. Nancy is the porpoise in the lyrics. Ann is now 72y and still performing.
I saw them in concert in the summer of 1979 at the original Mile High Stadium in Denver, Colorado. They were the last act after the line-up that started with The Rockets, UFO, The Cars, Ted Nugent, and then Heart. It was my first large concert and I had just turned 18 years old and was a freshman at the University of Colorado in Boulder! What a memory of my younger years!
Ann Wilson is the singer the guitar player is her sister Nancy who is also the writer of most of their music. They had many hits. We were always elated when a new album of theirs came out. ✌️ 🤠🏞️🐂
Went to their concert a few years back with Journey and Styx and she blew them away her voice still sounds the same , powerful voice. Thanks for this reaction!!
You gotta check out their LIVE performance of “Crazy On You” at California Jam II! They went on early, & brought the house down! Best performance of the day! They made Ted Nugent look like a pathetic clown. Absolutely AMAZING! ✌🏼
A barracuda is an aggressive saltwater ambush predator fish. The story behind the song is pretty wild really. Heart was founded by sister's Ann and Nancy Wilson. Ann is considered one of the best rock vocalists and Nancy is generally in the discussion of to guitarists. They were initially signed to a small record label called Mushroom Records. Mushroom put it their debut album and, as a marketing stunt, created rumors, posters, and other marketing material suggesting that the sister's were actually secretly lovers. This upset the band greatly and they had a messy departure from Mushroom Records over it. The result was a better deal at a bigger label and their signature hit, Barracuda. The song itself is just a bunch of metaphors. The Mushroom Record folks are the barracuda (I believe there was one executive in particular that drew Ann's ire, but I don't know the name). Nancy is "the porpoise" (another name for a dolphin). The lyrics allude to the executives putting on smiling happy faces to cover their true behind the scenes motives. Heart is truly an iconic band and you should definitely check out more of the sister's work. They also have an acoustic group called The Lovemongers.
thank God that we live in the time of audio-video recordings, and such forked voices do not disappear without a trace in the past. THIS performance will be listened to forever!
😢This is the woman who tore up (at age 62) the Kennedy Center Honors for Led Zeppelin, Stairway to Heaven. Led Zeppelin, in the audience, loved it. A must watch!! A barracuda is a man who preys on women. The fish is a predator...thus the correlation.
IMO, The Queen of Rock! She's still going strong in her early 70s. Disturbed just dropped a video duet with her and David Draiman that is awesome! Her voice aged like velvet ... ❤
Good eye Pegasus! This footage is from a live concert, however the audio is in fact the recorded studio version, overdubbed. But you can see how close and tight the band is, aside from Ann's vocals not matching. She always does it slightly different as a real singer will do with a song they actually wrote. During live concerts the emotion driving the song will be different each night they perform. Legends!❤
My dad had a Pontiac Barracuda when I was born in 1970. He LOVED that car, had to sell it when he started having kids. When he'd get annoyed at the half dozen of us which was basically all the time he'd tell us he should have skipped having kids and he'd have a Corvette. I'm mostly sure he was kidding.
This was from a time when musicians made music, instead of producers making "stars" like today. Ann Wilson is an amazing singer to this day and she is in her 60's. The sisters were greatness, oddly enough, there is an up and coming young sister band from Mexico called The Warning whose main vocalist/guitarist has many of the vocal qualities Ann has. Her name is Dany Villarreal, and at 23 she is already a great singer, you might want to check them out.
This was from their younger days, and even now they are powerhouses! You must listen to Heart do a tribute of Stairway to Heaven live at the awards ceremony for Led Zeppelin!
This is the quality music I was listening to in the 7th grade. I doubt music will ever again reach the heights that it was in the 1970s and early 80's.
The vocal is the studio cut dubbed over the live performance. This was done as there were no videos really in those days, and later, this is how they produced a video of the song. The original audio wasn't very good quality due to the sound gear. If you want to hear the blonde sister Nancy sing, she performs lead on their number one hit, These Dreams.
We're here to see your reactions so don't be afraid to say what you think. It's art and so there is no right or wrong, it's about what you feel. This was a great reaction to a great song. Thank you for sharing this with us! ❤

Omg - Ann & Nancy are icons - still performing! These sisters are a 100% rock'n roll. Love them! Muchas gracias por la reacción. Saludes desde Valencia ✌
Ann is still killing it in her 70s, she recently covered Layne Staley’s vocals on Rooster with Alice In Chains.
She covered Rooster?! Wow that's some balls! I'm going to check it out!
Oh shit, I have to find this!
@@kmftalonmobile It's from MoPop Honors Alice In Chains from 2020. The whole thing is on youtube, and it's all good if you like AIC, but I think you can find that individual performance too.
😮😮😮😮
Ann and Nancy’s Harmonies are AMAZING And Anne WOW what a voice!!!!
These sisters are the most talented and popular women entertainers in rock for the past 50 years, without compromising their art for popularity. Each can sing incredibly, and one is the best female guitarist, too.
Yeah but they were lousy tippers - I bussed their table a few times in the restaurant I worked at in the 80's.
Absolutely one of the best female vocalist EVER!
You've gotta check out their other big early hits, Crazy on You and Magic Man. But they've got a great career from the early 70's until now.
She is singing about the record producers.....predators...in which they actually are
Trying to catch up on the CLASSIC ROCK, they are sisters, Ann and Nancy Wilson.
Their interpretation of Stairway to Heaven at the Kennedy Center Honors is mind blowing.
I like it better than the original.
Exactly!
Barracuda is also a 70s muscle car. I had one and it tore up the road
Best female rock group of ALL TIME!!! 👏♥️💪
The best female voice ever
Lead guitar is her sister . She is the reason I became a successful rock singer. I rode from Rochester to Toronto in the back of a 76 Ford Pinto! Remember, they'd explode if hit from behind, doing 90. Saw live many times, sound exactly the same. I owe her my career
They are two sisters Ann and Nancy Wilson.
Total icons! Ann has a legendary voice. Nancy can also sing very well and kills it on guitar as well. They helped pave the way for women in rock music!
Saw them in 1979 at the Texxas Jam. Two X's on purpose. Heart put on the best show from every band there all day. It was so awesome.
I was at the 82 Texas Jam they need to bring those concerts back.😊
California Jam II too!
One of my fave female groups
She's one of the best rock singers ever, from any gender.
This is the studio take of the song dubbed over a concert performance. The vocals and video are surprisingly close given that.
It's fortunate a lot of bands from that time truly perfected live performances. It's how they made a living, gained a following, which then got the records produced. Heart toured around the Pacific northwest, going into Canada where I saw them
Barracuda 450 is also an exotic car! 1965 I believe. We called em Cudas! I am a gal who loves cars and this was a beauty!
Oh I LOVE this song… Ann Wilson has an amazing voice… I loved Heart and Pat Benatar - they were my female rock idols as a kid/teen
one of the greatest vocalist in all rock or even music! ♥
Ann Wilson is the GOAT. There's Steve Perry and Ann Wilson, everyone else takes a back street.
Sounds much nicer when it's clean then having it run through microprocessors on the way out to the audience.
autotune takes the life out of the music.
Ann Wilson ❤️
Love The Wilson sisters voice!! Still great to this day!
One of the best voices in the history of rock. Check out the Kennedy Center tribute to Led Zeppelin. She kills Stairway. Makes the original band in attendance cry. Too amazing.
They're still rockin today! Ann's voice is timeless!
Crazy on You is an amazing song. Their live performance is fabulous.
This is the studio version put over a live performance and you are right, her voice is incredible.
You nailed it, thanks for saving me time 😂
This!
No auto tune back in the day, she just had a sublime voice. Her cover of stairway to heaven I prefer over the oeiginal
Agree 💯‼️
A Force to be reckoned with 💯🔥 These 2 sisters are Amazing at harmonies! ❤
One of my top favorite bands ever. Dog And Butterfly is an amazing album and song.
I think she only says "baracuda"...3 times in the whole song. 🤣😂...but what a delivery,!
Ann Wilson is the singer the guitar player is her sister Nancy who is also the writer of most of their music.
They had many hits. We were always elated when a new album of theirs came out.
✌️
🤠🏞️🐂
If I could sing like Ann I would never shut up!my absolute favorite band!
Went to their concert a few years back with Journey and Styx and she blew them away her voice still sounds the same , powerful voice. Thanks for this reaction!!
One of the great women of rock in the 70's.
You gotta check out their LIVE performance of “Crazy On You” at California Jam II! They went on early, & brought the house down! Best performance of the day! They made Ted Nugent look like a pathetic clown. Absolutely AMAZING! ✌🏼
Easy, Ted is no way pathetic, he's one of the GOATS period.
In my opinion, the greatest female rockers.
In my opinion the best female rock group of all time
I’d take out female!
The Wilson sisters are the bomb! The first 4-5 albums didn’t have a bad track
Ann sings
Nancy plays a mean guitar
Ann Wilson (lead of Heart) just did a duo with Disturbed. She's still rocking it out! It's called Don't Tell Me.
Heart is such a great band! Ann Wilson and Nancy Wilson are sisters; pls react to Alone, What about Love, Crazy on You, These Dreams. 🔥🔥🔥
thank God that we live in the time of audio-video recordings, and such forked voices do not disappear without a trace in the past.
Barracuda is a fish but also was a muscle car back in mid 60s to mid 70s as well.
One of my fave things about the old music - you can hear their actual voices. No BS
Legends!❤
Heart ! Ann and Nancy .. are ROCK legends…. The other comments speak for me …
This HAS to be one of the most iconic rock songs ever. She sings her A## OFF!!!!!!!
Nancy is no slouch singing lead herself. She sang lead on These Dreams, one of their biggest hits.
This is live video synched to the studio recording. That's what the 'synch issues' are.
Heart was one of the best things to ever come out of Seattle. Thanks for sharing this one. 🙂
Singing about record company executives that tried to market them as lesbian sisters and they sing about predatory practices in the record industry!
Welcome to the wonderful world of the Wilson Sisters, Ann & Nancy!
You need to react to their tribute to Led Zeppelin at the Kennedy Center Honors!!! PLEASE
