Even become a fan of some of it. But now kids get a phone in their hands early enough where they cant even remember life without one. Theyll just drown out whatever they dont want to listen to by ignoring it and scrolling the phone. Or putting on headphones and listening to whatever music is popular at the time. So they cant learn older hits.

Because so much of the broad musical appreciation of people surrounding music of the 70's was from radio, not everyone know what different performers looked-like.
Even album cover art did not always display the band members on records.
If you didn't see them live, that was it it.
That's one of the major reasons why MTV was considered so revolutionary for the broader public.

I thank my dad for teaching me to listen to all kinds of music when I was a kid. He was born in 1961...so when I was a kid in the 80s (born 1983), we would listen to the 70s music, 80s....etc. And then in the 90s techno etc.

Australian here, born 66'. I loved lots of the 70s and 80s music. All types. Dont forget johnny cash, dolly parton, kenny rogers. Weird stuff like tubular bells. My 2 favourite groups are Dire Straits and Pink Floyd. And it's hard to pass Jeff Wayne's musical version of War of the Worlds, narrated by the great voice of Richard Burton. I have the double album somewhere.

I was born in 77, but I grew up to the 60s and 70s, courtesy of my parents. Parents are 20 years older than me and got married (eloped) 5 weeks after meeting in 1974. Still married too.
As a child I HATED older tunes, eith the exception of Elvis and Michael Jackson (and the J5). Not any more. Im a fan of the 60s to mid 90s these days. Most recent song I like is Beautiful Day by U2. Music reminds me of their early records. I don't listen to anything after 2000.
Favorite song from days gone by?
I'm Your Captain and Closer To My Home by Grand Funk Railroad. Lovvvve listening to it on my 8-track player.

My answer is always, "I grew up with it and you were raised on it."
I grew up on Elvis, Johnny Mathis, Johnny Cash, Perry Como, the Beatles, country, jazz and big band, while acquiring my favorites from the '70s to present from a very wide variety of genres.
    Thanks for reviving the memories!

Born in 1972, and I love all eras/genres of music. Everything from 1500's through the 1980's!! As for music from the 1990's through 2024, there are some I like, but most of it i do not. Why? Most of it is too computerized! All the instruments are computer generated, the vocals are "auto-tuned" to be perfect pitch on every note which makes the singers sound like robots with NO EMOTION, and all the music sounds very similar to almost identical!!
I love most genres of music.

My best friend and I were at the Elton John concert at Dodger Stadium. We were in 11th grade. Emmylou Harris and Joe Walsh opened for him. I remember just before the music started a small plane circled low around the stadium and a dusting of glitter wafted down on all of us, it was magical!
