Their last and arguably best album.
My friend I wish that one of this days you react to "Light my fire" from the album ( Alive She Cry) is a live version and in my point of view is the best version I've ever hear from the last 38 years
He did warn you it was going to slow up "Turn the mood from mad to sadness" right before he did it.
Hey buddy....yeah, u f'ed up.... *this* should've been the first song u ever listened to on ur channel years ago 😂😂😂😂 , lol, jk....where's this song been ur whole life tho, am I righ?
Doors: "not to touch the earth", "been down so long"
This song is an ode to the city of Los Angeles. Fun fact: Mr. Mojo Risin is an anagram for Jim Morrison.
Boner
Mr.Mojo is his D*%#!
". . . another lost angel." Yeah, Jim!
Jim ❤
Voodoo and sexual energie magic spells!
A classically trained pianist, a trained flamenco guitar player, and a jazz drummer with a stoner poet singer. Great Stuff, check out 5 to 1
Five to one one in five you get yours and I'll get mine. No one here gets out alive ... Great song! People are strange. Your lost little girl. I could go on and on. I'm 69 just turned. Growing up the Doors were my favorite group. Strange days, Maggie Magill she lived on a hill her daddy got drunk and left her no will... Wishful sinful, Soft Parade.. Wild Child.. So many great songs even my dad loved Riders on the storm.. Peace Frog a song his band mates came up with from one of Morrison's poem Abortion Stories
Lol. With that blend of influences, how could it not result in genre defying timeless music? The openness to different styles and sense of experimentation is what made 70's music great. ❤❤❤
John Densmore on drums is one of the most underrated drummers of all time, criminally underrated.
¬ robby too, had some really great riffs. everyone is justifiably captivated by jim's voice n ray's electric organ but when you listen listen, it was a great band.
Yes he is.
Love Charlie Watts too.
@@JAMESMOORE-gq4vv
That would be the Stones
John was really into Jazz, like many of the great drummers of the 60’s.
He knew where it’s at.
Jim Morrison is one of the all time great voices of rock and roll. Absolute genius.
Hills are filled with fire . . . J. Morrison captures the current events in LA and the feel of LA streets and car culture in the intro drum beat and throughout.
The lyrics of LA Woman are such a rich and beautiful vision ! “Driving down your freeways , midnight allays roam , cops n cars- topless bars -never saw a woman so alone . . . Wow !
Exactly!
"I see your hair is burning,
Hills are filled with fire."
The first time I drove into LA, I had this cranked to 11 on the under-dash mounted stereo.
@@songsmithy07came to listen again after the fires
The video is amazing! Jim’s car!
FIVE TO ONE, is one of the most underrated Doors songs.
"Your ballroom days are over baby"
There are so many. How about 'Peace Frog' for that funky groove.
They got the guns, but we've got the numbers...
Not bad, but nowhere close to: "No Eternal Reward Will Forgive Us Now, For Wasting The Dawn."
That whole album kicks ass.
Spanish Caravan is another favorite off of Waiting For The Sun
"Roadhouse Blues," my man. You're welcome.
Roadhouse blues also
The story behind that song is amazing. Worth a read if you can find it online. I heard the guitarist talking about it on SiriusXM during an interview.
Love it but I'm a Maggie M'gill man
@@bbb462cidas you should be
This song has THE Southern California 70s vibe. the 60s Sunset Strip, all grown up… the Doors captured it in this track. Guitarist Robbie Krieger, hits the perfect strike between Blues, R&B and Latin style. Awesome reaction!
Greatest highway cruising tune of all time.
in all these years, i hear more people responding to the beatles, led zep, and the doors than rolling stones etc. the doors were so taken for granted, they were superb.
Roadhouse Blues is a must
The Doors are a whole rabbit hole to go down. Great musicians, songwriters, and lyricist. Jim Morrison was a true poet. Keep going with them.
Jim Morrison considered himself to be a poet, rightly so in my opinion. His depth of thought and the way he wrote is still very intriguing to me. Roadhouse Blues is a must listen.
Driving down the 101 from the Valley at night. Top down, wind through my hair. Cresting through the Cahuenga Pass to break through over those Hollywood city lights, an expanse like a glittering carpet of stars all the way to the ocean. This song captures that feeling of constant motion, the car culture of mid-century America, freedom in rushing through the dark. Morrison's classic crooner voice against that relentless rhythm, tires spinning, engine roaring. The soul of L.A.
This is so beautifully written. You capture that feeling so well.
"cops in cars, the topless bars" i loved driving around l.a. after i got my wheels.
Break through those city lights right!
Break On Through another spectacular song like this❤
It's the 405 fwy for me. It was built right on time for the doors (1964). I get the same feeling now of still loving this area even though traffic is horrendous! The "I see your hair is burning" line is so dead on. Our mountains like to burn every year in the Autumn.
Very well said my friend. I’m in SoCal myself and I was riding along with you on your journey. Driving in a car through LA, the beach, and the other iconic areas here is what listening to music like that was made for.
Back Door Man, Peace Frog, Roadhouse Blues, Light My Fire… just a few Doors gems.
I’d rather listen to Howling Wolf’s version of back door man. I agree with the rest though.
@ I love Howlin’ Wolf! I had The London Sessions on cassette in my car stereo for at least a month straight.
I'd add Crystal Ship
The 'woman' in the title is Los Angeles itself.
Isn't there also a reference to Marilyn Monroe...."Hollywood Bungalow...."
@@kattalady8114 No, it's a more generic reference.
@@OroborusFMA thx
She's also Pam Courson, with her fiery red hair.
@Serai3 and Barbie Benton as well with the line "never saw a woman so alone" from when Jim went to the Playboy Mansion and met Hefner and his main squeeze.
My favorite driving fast song..
Gotten in one take with a very drunk singer..incredible
They recorded a few takes. There are alternate versions. And the "live" format was limiting.
To be fair, I have mostly been very drunk or headed there, while listening to it...
Yeah he is absolutely feeling it. Perfect growl and rasp. It’s like you are sitting at a bar with him. Love it
This is one of my favorite songs of all times.. never gets old because it's so good..😊😊😊
yes it is
I went to college in the early '90s. The house me and my soccer buddies rented was the site of many many parties ... Sometime around 11:00 or 12:00 when everyone was feeling very groovy if you know what I mean, we would put this song on and crank it. Arm in arm screaming MR MOJO RISIN!! Good times
Over 55 years of intensive study I am almost ready to assemble the "playlist" of great songs to hear while getting drunk, staying drunk, and enjoying being drunk...
Jim Morrison was a huge whiskey drinker and "experimented" heavily with acid. Later, sadly, got addicted to heroin and was one of the founding members of the infamous 27 club.
The Doors..the gift that just keeps on givin'!❤
"The Crystal Ship"....you will love it.
MUST!
Jim Morrison was a genius and to have a voice like that in his mid 20s is truly amazing! He was a beautiful, though tortured soul. His dad was strict and military and they didn't get along. He's one of those people who, like Eric Clapton, can look very different in his photos. RIP, Jim.
His dad was an admiral in the Navy.
The End - The Doors ❤❤❤
Moonlight Drive. The Crystal Ship.❤
"When the Music's Over" is like a summary of the 60s.
The End and, Rider's of the Storm
"Touch Me" is a very surprising song!
You can hear the heavy jazz and blues influence in their music. One of a kind band. They didn’t sound like anyone else.
The doors Peace Frog !!!
Jim Morrisson was a real deal shaman and would give himself to various entities, mostly Dionysus, on stage. Ray Manzarek said that he would look down during a performance and see his hands moving but knew he was in another realm.
I saw that interview!! That's some trippy shit.
you reacted to this exactly how i react to it each time. And its been thousands of times. its a spiritual love letter to a city. masterpiece.
My first big arena show was The Doors at the Spectrum in Philadelphia, 1970. I was a 20 yo college student and, believe me, that rock-god poster of Jim Morrison was in just about every dorm room and student apartment.
Not only is this an epic song, but it's also one of the best driving songs... ever!
I took out a maserati for a test drive with Doors blaring loudly, after we brought the car back the sales guy was whiter than a shade of pale in his face and said:" I'm a salesman for Ferrari and Maserati since 6 years but I never had a test drive like this", that's when my daughter replied " my mom is a Porsche Certified Precision Driver".... listen to Deep Purple "Highway Star", maybe start with "Smoke on the Water" a good Deep Purple Intro
Whenever I’m asked what do you want for driving music. This song is always included
Sees Doors -> Smashes Like button!
This is scream down the freeway at 110 music.
These songs are my nursery rhymes. I was a little girl when the Doors came out. Very special place in my heart!
Arguably their peak, JM's greatest vocal performance and the band's overall best song. By arguably I arguably mean that's a fact!
Unarguably!
His vocals are pretty awful. His voice is shot from the alcohol and he's practically out of breath at the end.
@@OroborusFMA Uh, you've clearly missed the charm of Jim Morrison.
@@OroborusFMA The vocal is fantastic.
No singer draws you into a song more than Jim Morrison.
He was the best!
This album was always part of any road trip.
Still is...❤
I CANNOT NOT DANCE to this song! Doesn't matter where I am. ❤❤❤
"Love Her Madly" is one my favourites.
Mine too
It's strange their producer, Rothchild, dismissed that song (and not "Rider's on the Storm") as "cocktail jazz". It went on to be a top ten hit as I recall.
That's my absolute favorite
(Spanish Caravan )
Another Great Doors Tune
❤️❤️❤️
Their biggest hit was Light my Fire. You should check that for sure.
O9h yeah man,we gotta appreciate the Doors,
R.I.P. Jim Morrison...aka "Mr.Mojo Risin''
Jim Morrison's dad was a Rear Admiral in the U.S. Navy.
I rediscovered LOVE ME TWO TIMES when doing karaoke. Short song, simple lyrics. Jim Morrison starts out soft and bluesy and ends up with a screaming climax.
The Doors, Led Zeppelin, Rush, Yes, Pink Floyd, Kansas, Alan Parsons... this was our church
The Doors are their own rabbit hole. I recommend When the Music's Over, Peace Frog, Riders on the Storm, Unknown Soldier, The End and too many more to mention. Morrison also did a spoken word album called An American Prayer that is highly worth listening to,
This song has grown on me more than any other by the Doors, one of my favorite bands. Each musician shines. So glad you got to this and appreciated it right away.
Not being sober, that's the singer's task. And he thoroughly succeeded😂❤
It's a love letter to the city.... Once you know that it's even better.
anything from the album "the soft parade" you above most persons would appreciate.
I love these old these tunes from my youth, but still appreciated seeing the lyrics.
Mr. Mojo Risin' is another way to spell Jim Morrison. FYI
Another great reaction Polo, The Doors is a great band to take a deep dive into!
How’s it possible that this dude has never heard this track ? Where’s he been ?! lol !
For your next Doors song you should do Riders on the Storm - it's an absolute masterpiece. Somber, moody, atmospheric, beautiful, creepy. Just great.
Everybody was sober except for Jim Morrison, I don’t think there’s a man in history that could’ve kept up with him. booze, cocaine LSD everything under the sun in amounts that would kill an elephant. Too bad as I think he was one of the most talented singers and songwriters that ever lived. He was a true poet and has a beautiful book of poetry. I have an awesome picture of me at his grave in Paris France, with a giant orb right above his tombstone. I was that guy in high school that painted album covers on the back of people‘s jean jackets and mine was Jim Morrison. Love this band.
Hang on and get ready to ride. This is the cruising music of my high school years. I'm 67. It still sounds today as it did in the early 70's. Awesome and compelling.
Does this song not make you want to go outside, roll all the windows down, start the '60 muscle car of your choice and drive real fuckin' fast?!?! You don't even have to be stoned.
LOL! THIS SONG TAKES ON A JOURNEY INDEED!!
'Peace Frog' is awesome.
What a ride... it never gets old!
Love The Doors ❤ And LA Woman is my favorite!! Great Song 🤯💯🔥You go on now😘 Polo🎧🎶👍 Love you and your channel and your reactions 💯🥰✌️ God Bless you and yours 🙏❤
Maggie M’Gill is Another cool number.
They were never sober. 😂❤
Ok, this is one that blow you away from the Doors: it's called PEACE FROG.
Yeah, you've listened to a few of their classics, but you've got a long way to go with The Doors. Knowing you, I think you'd love Touch Me, Love Her Madly, and "When the Music's Over - that's good for starters. And you only listened to a live version of Light My Fire, which is good, but the studio is perfection, at over 7 minutes, with extended keyboard solo - you've got to catch that.
The Doors… America’s finest! Check out The WASP (Texas Radio and the Big Beat)… or any of their other 100 songs. Can’t miss with these guys.
" . . . out here, we are but --- stoned."
The entire album is supposed to be listened to in one sitting. It starts with that song as an introduction, peaks in the middle with LA Woman, and ends with Riders on the Storm.
"Let me tell you this. No Eternal Reward will forgive us now for wasting the dawn."
Here are just a handful of Door's song to react to next, Riders on the Storm, Light My Fire, Roadhouse Blues and Love Her Madly which are all gems. Enjoy.
That's Jerry Scheff on the bass. He played with Elvis for many years. His son, Jason Scheff, played bass with Chicago for many years.
Mr mojo risin scrambled spells Jim Morrison. He was a genius
Jim Morrison aka The Lizard King , there will never be another
The whole genre in that ers is all amazing 👏 😍 🙌 👌
I fell in love with Jim Morrison when I was 11 years old in the early 80s… had every album every book written about him every picture every song memorized I tried breaking on through to the other side in the most literal possible way. I was sure that he was waiting for me on the other side. Needless to say, my mother took all the books all the albums, all the posters, but never stopped me from being a fan to this day. If anybody thinks of me from back in the day , they think of Jim Morrison and the doors. ❤
Man they are rockin' out, this song is a BLAST!!! 😁
"Haunting rocks blue sadly progressive..." Morrison was a true poet lyricist 💋💋💋💋💋💋
Powerhouse
Best song for driving really fast! Driving all over!
In 1973, I stopped at the record store and bought a copy of LA Woman. I took it to Pacific Stereo and played it on the best stereo they had at full volume. Bose open air speakers, the turntable cost $1500 in 1973. It was amazing. Every customer in the store ended up rocking in that sound room.
You'll love Peace Frog.
The original name of Peace Frog was The Abortionist's Song.
the DOORS
My first Speeding ticket, 35 years ago. To this very song. In a 1979 Honda Rabbit. Two seats in the front, the backseat was a Kicker speaker system, from Stillwater Designs. If I ever ran outta gas , that system would have thumped me to the nearest gas station.😂
The officer , was not a doors fan by the way. 😂😂❤
A Honda rabbit ?
@cojaysea well, before Volkswagen patented the term rabbit, most people in late 70s called the little civic " rabbits"
Lol
@ I didn’t know that . The Volkswagen rabbit was popular as hell back in the late 70,s . I owned a 1980 CIVIC . I loved it .
@cojaysea and would run forever on 10 bucks of gas..lol
Lol.
@ yea I use to drive it back and forth from New Jersey to Vermont on weekends gas mileage was amazing .
The greatest hiway driving tune man. Remember back in the 70s in my youth flying down the hiway in buddies GTO just blasting this track. Longer the song went faster the car seemed too move, weird phenomenon. Killer song.
Mr' Mojo Risin is an anagram for Jim Morrison.
Great reaction. I saw the doors live in concert twice an exceptional band to say the least.
There is no Bass player/guitar , it's bass is played through the keyboard player keyboard, one guitar drums Singer.
La woman, a very good song, the have many more much better.
Try the doors song , after Jim Morrison died. The song is written for and to him.
The Doors- Ships With Sails.
It's interesting you picked up the spiritual aspects in the song, that is common in much of their music. If you are familiar with the Jazz greats. Then if you listen to the doors enough you will pickup on the John Coltrane who is legendary, an icon in music. John Coltrane was an Idol to the keyboard player and others
The End - When the Musics Over - Crystal Ship - Break On Through - Riders On A Storm - People Are Strange - and all the rest.
That "mean bass" is played by Jerry Scheff -- at the time of this recording, he was the long-time Elvis Presley live & in-concert bass player. Acquiring him for this Doors album was quite remarkable. It's been said that Jim Morrison was thrilled to have Elvis' bassist on board for this album.
This song, Roadhouse Blues and Love me two times are all great songs.
Great song and I Love Robby Kriegers guitar playing 🙌
Nothing like this before or since. Great writing, powerful delivery, driving music.
THE SPY, THE CARS HISS BY MY WINDOW.
Cars Hiss By is my fav blues song of all time!!!
You've heard the term 'film noir'; this is a 'Song noir'!
Live Gloria
Next should be Riders on the Storm!
he already reviewed it.... worth listening to
Yeah the lead singer is the famous Lizard 🦎 King, Mr Jim Morrison. Soul Kitchen please bro!!! Check it out!!
Check out - Roadhouse Blues , Cyrstal Ship , Peace Frog , Five to One , Riders on the Storm , The End , Love Her Madly , and the list goes on
People always mention the bass on The Doors songs. The Doors had no bass player, they only had bass on the studio albums.
Patricia Sullivan was their bass player
Correct
@@donstand2195 ??
Hmm, pretty sure it was Ray on Bass Keys.. A Fender Rhodes PianoBass.
@@AmeriMutt76 It was Jerry Scheff on bass for this LP
It's a master piece, and you are correct. Not sober.
Correction...the 3 were sober, Jim, no
