    Doors drummer John Densmore said in the The Story of L.A. Woman documentary: "The metaphor for the city as a woman is brilliant: cops in cars, never saw a woman so alone - great stuff. It's metaphoric, the physicality of the town and thinking of her and how we need to take care of her, it's my hometown.

    • @theincorruptedeye8226
      @theincorruptedeye8226 3 года назад

      Obviously you don't know what this song is about. Jim planned on faking his death and leaving his girlfriend behind and the entire album tells the story. In this song he's comparing Pam to LA. Would she be a lucky little lady in the city of light, Paris, or another lost angel city of night, LA? He answers that in a rhetorical question beforehand "Where are all the girls in their Hollywood bungalows?'" "I see your hair is burning" she had red hair, "Hills are filled with fire" the high points are brilliant, I'll let you finish the verse. The music video is centered around the movie Vanishing Point which was released at the exact same time that Jim moved, the Mustang that he drove in the video also vanished then. The album was recorded in secret and released after Jim moved, so when the words "Just got into town about an hour ago" were first heard he was already gone, he traveled faster than the speed of sound, now listen to the song before it, one of the cars created a sonic boom.

      the lyrics are deeper then many know.... never saw a woman so alone is a KILLER line if you think about its psychological meaning in re to the collective culture. LA the city of vanity & dreams. the mecca of narcissism. the infotainment empire of the West. its images shape the norms of a lot of our culture.... that is what morrison is digging into here. our culture has an endless appetite for voyeurism. TV is that window & LA is the factors of that production. its an empty pit that cant be filled, but people are drawn like moths to the flame regardless... that is what that line points to. & if you think about it & LA's power of our entire culture, morrison nailed then & more importantly what was coming now. people hooked to narcissism. Alone inside, playing shadow theater to fake it.

    Oh, this is fabulous - what a fantastic rocking song! I love it - you can't stop moving to it!! The Doors are great, they had so many fab songs. A superb band and I certainly remember them from the 60s and later. Wonderful. I loved watching you react to this song, guys, because you were enjoying it so much, as I was! It's been a while since I listened to this song so it's great to hear it again with you. And yes, I would love to have this in the car! I downloaded the song The End years ago and yes, I think you should react to it when you can - it's a real Doors song if you know what I mean!

    So many great tunes in their arsenal..but my fav has to be Riders on the Storm. I'll always remember the time back in 1981, lived on Anna Maria Island near Bradenton, FL, sitting on the deck overlooking Sarasota Bay, with the Gulf one block away on the other side, doing ganga with drinks at sunset, this song came on....yes, a trippy, lilting tune. But hey, LA Woman...yes, watch the gas pedal!

    "DRIVING THROUGH ANOTHER DIMENSION" is a great description of this song; the vocal, the drumming, piano and guitar playing are superb. The driving and frenetic beat of the song fits with listening while driving along a freeway. Their music was part of the LA Laurel Canyon scene which gave us folk rock and psychedelic music in the late 60s. You must watch the Netflix documentary called "Echo in the Canyon" which is describes this section of LA as a musical Garden of Eden and will give you an insight into what it was like. So many great musicians were interacting and creating new musical sounds and great songs and a new kind of rock. You still need to react to some of these artists such as Joni Mitchell, the group Crosby, Stills Nash and Young, the Byrds and Jackson Brown. I think you already reacted to Linda Ronstadt and the Eagles who were part of this scene.
    Yes react to "The End". I think the recorded versions are usually better so listen t them first then the live version. Here is a good live 1968 version of "Love Me Two Times" ruclips.net/video/pcAS_i79WYE/видео.html
