Mr. Mojo Risin' is a anagram for Jim Morrison.
Today years old. Damn.
Beat me to it 😂
It's also a reference to his dick.
Double entendre. Mr. Mojo is an anagram and it is a penis.
Me too! This was a real thing about 50 years ago.
Another lost angel here 🌠
Imo, this song, & this whole album , is their masterpiece...especially this crazy epic love song to a particular city (as has been said the “woman” in this song IS los angeles, & this is jim’s ode to it)...this was on their last album, the whole album is hard rocking & bluesy af....they went out with a bang....it bugs me a little to see all the photos of young, beautiful, pretty boy jim, because when they recorded this (about 8, or so months before jim’s death) jim was a bit bloated from all the beer & whiskey & food & was HEAVILY bearded, he just a big, grizzly, poet’s beard, or something, he looked like paul cezanne the french post-impressionist painter...and jim would soon move to france, (where, unbeknownst to him, he would die),, so, anyway, this song was kind of a good-bye to los angeles....lastly, , awesome reaction, i knew youd love it...i knew youd either stand up & walk around, or come close to doing so, haha
Yeah, lol, i liked how he was "conducting for The Drop" (my phrase) around 7:15, and then it happened and he was visibly gobsmacked, ha!
@@joescott8877 🤣😂
Great reaction and so chill doing it. Glad you dig The Doors. Jim Morrison was a poet. He loved reading poetry and writing it. Poetry became The Doors lyrics. Beautiful stuff
I love that you love the doors! Not too many people get it .. at least any i know in real life . But thats ok.🦎💜
Pope-alicous
The Doors are fantastic ! Enjoy LA - I love LA. Haven't been there in years. ❤🎉
"MoJo" is found in a lot of rock and blues songs. Mojo was a voodoo token (maybe an animal's hand) that people keep with them for good luck
Think of Mr. Mojo Risin as when Tom Marvolo Riddle changes and arranges his letters around to be I am Lord Voldemort -- Jim was ahead of his time LOL also the woman Jim is singing about is the city LA --- as if she were a living breathing woman
It's a badass song
Mr. Mojo was nickname for the pusher! But if you look closely "Mr. Mojo risin'" is the anagram for "Jim Morrison" !
❤❤❤Best driving song ever.
One of the best ever!❤
Mojo....morrison jim...mojo...mr mojo
The performance on the Ed Sullivan Show was too good to be true they played { people are strange and Light my fire} must see best live performances by the band ever.
I was born in L. A. (Hawthorne, to be exact), and while I have lived most of my life in New York...Los Angeles is in my blood. Cities are a lot like women, complex, and multi-faceted, with something that draws you toward them (for better or worse), and once you leave, they are a part of you forever. Anyway...that's my take. As always...superb and insightful reaction. Keep on risin'...✌😎
The woman in LA Woman IS the city of LA.
Fun fact, they didn’t have a bassist, the keyboardist played the bass as well as the other stuff on keyboards.
LA is the woman.
The city of light 🕯️
or----> the city of Night.... the duality of desire & disillusionment.
love that proto Motorik beat
mr mojo risin is an anagram of the lead singers name.... but its also an old blues metaphor, for getting ones sexual energy going. & its also become symbolic in amer vernacular, esp in sports or financial competition is building up momentum.... as much as morrison read & how much he was into symbolic density w/ word usage, my guess is hes combining all 3. & since the song is about LA and the culture itself, hes reflecting the ebb and flow & boom & bust of how our amer culture cyclically shifts & evolves. it also draws out a cinematic large scape view.... his ability to create density of meaning into what at first glance may seem simple, was unmatched in popular music. he could write like a frost, crane or blake in using sparse symbolist technique. then bead the meanings together in the particular work to reflect a much deeper perspective & view on a theme.... he does it on riders too.
I liked how you were waiting, even "conducting," for The Drop around 7:15, and then when it happened you were visibly moved, lol!
🦎🤴...I grew up in LA when this came out. Fun times. 👍❤🤙💋💋💋
L.A. Woman closes out Side A of the final Doors' album. I was introduced to them by their one and only Ed Sullivan Show tv performance. I was only 7 at the time but I remember Jim being front and center! ❤
Saw it too on the old black and white 4 maybe 5 channels
I believe Mr. Mojo Risen has most letter to “Jim Morrison “
Billy Idol also did a great cover.
I am the city of Light. Only the one in France. lol
The Doors were super big when I was in grade school. I liked some of their songs but, never got that much into them. But, this one was a favorite.
Of the late 60s icons I am a fan of Miss Janis Joplin. Oh, that lady can sing some blues....and rip your heart out with it.
I listened to rock n roll since the beginning of the Beatles in first grade. My mom was one of those parents who was not appalled by rock and let my brother and me grow up listening to it with records and our transistor radios.
When I became a teen buying albums and getting heavy into music my band was Led Zeppelin. They were music and still are.
But, that is not to take away from the Doors who were a fun and rebellious band when it was very daring to be so.
Greatness
I'm just another lost angel as it happens. Thanks for asking.
Hey Pope! Hope you are well? THE DOORS! Awesome title track from a great album! Enjoy!🔈🔉🔊🔊🔊🔊🔊😎
🙏🍁
@@lesblatnyak5947 👍❤️🌅😎
Pam & Jim were tragically, in love, but at least they had their time together. Pam died 3 yrs after Jim.❤ The Doors ...Way ahead of their time, I was 9 or 10, first listening 😅 Mr. Mojo was Jim..😅
Mr. Mojo Risin is an anagram of Jim Morrison.
I think it's a damn cool thing that anytime I'm in the right frame of being for a 24-mile bike ride (weather permitting), I can hop in the saddle and, in a little more than an hour, go wheeling past the house where the guy playing keys on this grew up...🎹
Hi Pope!. This song is such a banger and I do believe it was an ode to Ray Manzarek's girlfriend as well as to the city of LA itself. Mr. Mojo Risin' = Jim Morrison. Keep On Risin' ! When you getting back to Floyd with, "Let There Be More Light" ? 😎
What is considered the City of Light is Paris, where Jim passed. LA is the City of Night, because the underlying sleasiness tends to become emboldened iat night and reveal itself.
Mr. Mojo Risen is an anagram for Jim Morrison.
It's fun that Jim played with us. We needed the frivolity, particularly at the time.
I doubt that "City of Light," refers to Paris.
@@jackasswhiskyandpintobeans9344 suit yourself. Or perhaps, look it up.
@@lewismaddox4132 You are simplifying his writing. Was Morrison ever in Paris, before his death? Yeah, I know Paris is known as "The City of Lights," but that not what the song is about. It's an allegory.
@@jackasswhiskyandpintobeans9344 I can agree with that. The dreams of "lucky little ladies" would not be the reality of LA. They dream of a city of glamour and lights, the stars.
@@lewismaddox4132 Exactly. Yet it's worse. What corruption of your soul would you endure and then find out it was meaningless.
Pope, I am so grateful for you because it is people like you who keep The Doors music alive. I truly love how much you enjoy their music. 😊
There's no reason that you can't be both..you're lucky that you're a lost angel...
Bad ass music I listened to 50 years ago! The absolute best!
Love the Doors! It takes me back to walking along Ocean Blvd in Coronado, CA on my way to the beach. Psychedelic vans parked along the street playing this and other great songs! Yes, I did live on the island in middle school. I had no idea how good I had it!
So happy you listened to this man. Thank you
if you unscramble "mr. mojo risin'", you get "jim morrison"
& if you unscramble, jim morrison, what do you get?
It is his name rearranged
POPE, you have good taste, and you are a good, interesting writer. The world is your oyster.
The woman is Los Angeles.
I can't write anymore. The only line I've written in the last two years is:
monsters and genius
create quiet ideas
That's it.
You better still be writing POPE. Don't stop writing!
Listen to Riders on the Storm
👹
👆mojo rising
Mr Mojo Risin is the letters of Jim Morrison rearranged...
Jim Morrison was one of the best in his time ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
The picture after the "city of night" one is a fake, probably made for some biographical movie. Here's a long time Doors fan 🙋🏻♀️(I only recommend you the Oliver Stone movie with Val Kilmer, it almost nailed it)
Aye mate, enjoying all your reactions but that was top of the list, really got the foot tapping, three cheers to you thanks
The woman is the city of LA itself. Not a actual person
Correct. The "woman" is the city of LA. Listen again, it all makes sense. Other channels think its about women.
I played this on 8track back in the 70s! No one got it. Whit boy did though!
IF THEY SAY I NEVA LOVED YOU
YOU KNOW THEY ARE A LIAR!
10:43 The question could refer to anyone but, "lucky little lady," is catchy and meaningful. A "lucky little person," doesn't have the same ring to it. Some synonyms that might have worked instead of lady: mortal, being, spirit. "Lady," is two syllables.
Jim Morrison took th mo from Morrison and the J from Jim added the o to it and got Mo-jo rison
the phrase “mr. mojo risin’” is jim’s name “jim morrison” all scrambled up....with the letters in a different order...im sure u know, but thats called an anagram, where the letters of someone’s name are all rearranged to make a new word, or phrase, to describe that person who’s name it is
Absolutely the best ❤❤
We two, we like more of the psychodelic ones, right?
He's kinda referring to Los Angeles as l.a woman
Mr MOJO risin is Jim Morrison mixed up
He's singing about the city not a woman
Mr. Mojo Risin' is an anagram for Jim Morrison.
