No current bands of my era could even begin to compare to this brilliant album. I had of course heard "Break On Through" really early on, like everyone else. But the experience of hearing the whole album was amazing. This is in it's own category completely, even amongst their peers when this album came out in the 60's. It's still amazing to this day.

While a lot of 60's-early 70's bands were singing songs of love and positivity, the Doors went in a dark disturbing opposite direction, and that's what made them so great.
If I'm not mistaken, they were one of the very first to venture into dark and deep lyrical subject matter like this. I'll be eternally in love with them for the vibe and feeling their music portrays. Still ain't heard nothing that quite compares to this band.

Fun fact: a buddy of mine and me were sitting in his cellar in the late 80´s when I got my first joint while listening to the rain and the lyrics of Riders on the storm. In 1968 I went to the doors concert at the Veterans Memorial in Phoenix.
When the doors were on the The Ed Sullivan Show he didn't want Morrison to sing girl you couldn't get much higher. Well there he was walking out on stage with extremely tight pants and with all the girls around the country faces glued to their TV sets he sang the song it was intended. More controversy and they loved it. Lol

Fun fact: a buddy of mine and me were sitting in his cellar in the late 80´s when I got my first joint while listening to the rain and the lyrics of Riders on the storm. It was the first time hearing Jim Morrison. I was about 18/19 and then finally came the end, about 35 years ago and one of the best evenings in my live..you have to...but just a suggestion

This is my second vid watching you react. I love how you get so involved, man. You have such a thorough understanding of Jim and the Doors. It's as if you were Jim himself re incarnated . This stuff really affects you, think about it . This is probably my favorite of all the Doors' songs. When he did this live at the Whiskey A Go Go club, he screamed out the actual line when he says : "Mother, I want to . . . f***********k you !" This was way back in the beginning. BTW, he was on acid when he sang the song. Keep listening to the Doors and I'll keep watching you .
