This is just another reminder that I don't mind getting old... for two reasons... Number 1 - My youth was not mis-spent... I can't think of a better musical era to have grown up in... and Number 2 - as alluded to in this tune(along with 'Riders On The Storm'), reminds us all that "The Future's Uncertain, and the End Is Always Near", but, I'm still here, despite over 6 decades of taking on life, HEAD ON, and surviving the worst it has YET, thrown at me. The music of my youth, in ALL it's many variations, still holds so much power over the shape of the society we now live in. The next time you young 'uns see an old man hobbling down the street, rather than feeling sorry and pitying his condition... stare in awe at the inspiration before you, and wish that you may someday be so blessed as to have made it through the fires of life, and emerged even tougher than you were in your, so called, "Prime".👍🏼✌🏼🇨🇦
This came out in 1970, the year I graduated high school. I loved Jim Morrison so much. I hitch hiked to a Doors concert with my two best friends (it was safe to do that then. Nobody would murder you) and we almost lost our minds. I haven't heard this song in years. Thanks for the memories.
No one in rock brought the command swag like Jim could when he was on his A game… fleeting career but wow he left his mark. Hats off to anyone who got to see him live.
BRING MORE THE DOORS MY MAAAN! Best rocknroll band ever man, they were the real deal, all about it, Morrison was so passionate and intense, WILD, on live he sounded just like the records and even better, there are a lot of songs i think you might like, Morrison said their European live show at the Roundhouse in London was the best they ever did, you can find it here by the name ''The Doors Are Open'' , there you can see Morrison WILDIN and in his fucking PRIME, wearing full leather clothes hahaha, he was something else
@@OscarMartinez-pz9rg I always thought it didn't sound like an R name. I just looked up that Lonnie is in fact playing bass on this song too, not guitar so thats funny he's calling out bass player instead of guitar
You're ON it: there is a live/montage version of Roadhouse Blues and I REALLY recommend it. Jim was deeply thoughtful and incredibly well-spoken. He was also messed up and explosive. The video shows the "dangerousness" that was as much a part of him as his poetry.
Love this song. My cousin played Bass on the original recording. The Late Great Lonnie Mack. He is buried in the same cemetery as my dad. I go to Lonnies every time i go there. My favorite by them is LA Woman. Enjoy this great song.
John Sebastian (Lovin' Spoonful and "Welcome Back") plays the harp, uncredited (due to label conflicts). Sebastian's father was a world-class harmonica player -- classical genre.
Oh, the live version is even better. Jim really shone onstage. They all did, but Jim loved to improvise and would go on these vocal jaunts that could last a while. Their famously controversial song "The End" was his playground for improvisation; in the central spoken-word section, he would do word jazz, improvising poetry, get strange. He just really loved to perform, much more than he liked to record.
Was my go-to 8:21 karaoke song after a few drinks. One night, I was accompanied by a Harmonica player. Once he heard the song, he joined in. I used to be about that life. One bar after the next. One party after the next. One to many, always with the intent of having acgood times, dancing, and singing with friends. But then it doesn't always work out as intended. Nonetheless, worth the experience, no matter how bizarre situations got. The Doors were one of my favorites. Songs: Strange Days, People are Strange, Hello I love you, Love me two times, Love her madly, L.A. Woman, and Crystal ship.
Everybody here watching you is imagine themselves at that bar with this incredible band performing...and there is a bungalow just around the corner you can still picture that part of that night with their parts all working right.😊
I also like the harmonica. Two Blues Rock songs I like are "Better Lying Down" by Jefferson Airplane and "Good Morning Little Schoolgirl" by Ten Years After even though neither have harmonica on them.
My late cousin told everyone that jim was her husband - she even told her husband! Lol - i miss her so much. Everytime we would talk i would hear them in the background. She moved out of state too early. A band that i grew up with would sing several of their songs and would bring the house down. They performed maybe 10 mins away from her old house.
🌸 I've been in love with Jim Morrison forever and ever.... his intellect was amazing, he was a prolific writer & poet .... he pushed the boundaries on many many things and he was just a beautiful soul.
Hard to believe he was dead at 27, so much great music put out in such a short time, he was part of the famous 27 club, ones who died at 27, Hendrix, Joplin, Cobain and many others!
Love Me Two Times, LA Woman are the two that probably the most similar in terms of vibe for a Doors Song, but their whole catalogue is full of amazing ones.
Excellent reaction this song kicks ass everyone jamming later my brother. ‘’ The future is uncertain and the end is always near ‘’ no truer words spoken.
Doors, pick a Doors any Doors? 🚪 🚪 🚪 you win "Roadhouse Blue's" Great Choice!😅 Now it's time to "Light My Fire" 🔥 next 🥺 please 🙏 Peace your 70 year old forever Young Hippie Gary 🕺💃 Great Reaction👍
Great reaction! I've loved the Doors since my pre-teen years back in the early 80s. I played the radio to get to sleep to at night. I remember waking up one Sunday morning when I was @10 years old and hearing Jim's voice, but it was such an odd song: "Whiskey Bar". I love the song, but it's not on everyone's most favorites of the Doors. Great, but unusual. Another couple of songs I'd recommend that were some of my childhood favs: "Baraccuda" by Heart - heavy, bad ass guitar riffs and slicing lyrics! Also, "Black Water" by The Doobie Brothers. I've heard other people react to "Black Water" by the Doobies, but not Heart. Don't know why because it's kick ass! Basically, Ann and Nancy Wilson (singer and guitarist of Heart and sisters) were furious with the media for making up rumors about them to form a scandal. So, the song is about how cutthroat the media were - and labeling them barracuda. "And if the real thing don't do the trick, you better make up something quick..." Another great Heart song: "Magic Man". Pretty self explanatory...magic man with magic hands. Well done, man! I like your energy and positive vibes! It does my heart good to see more generations loving that good music - and making more great tunes! And it's great to see people branching out and trying different genres. I like many genres myself, from heavy metal, hip hop, bluegrass etc to 1930s jug bands (not so many songs, but i gotta admit "Cocaine Habit Blues" by the Memphis Jug Band is pretty cool and I'd recommend if you want something very different). Imho, you gotta give tribute to those who led us to the music we have now. A great song never dies! Lol. :)
That hot harmonica is being played by The Lovin' Spoonful's John Sebastian ("Summer In the City," "Welcome Back"). The bass guitar is by veteran rock guitarist Lonnie Mack (who had a 1963 hit with an instrumental version of Chuck Berry's "Memphis").
Love the enthusiasm in your reactions! Just a little blues song you may want to check out is Thank Me Someday by, at the time it was released, a 74 yr old Buddy Guy! It won’t let you down! Just some raw blues being played!
The Doors had a lot of different sounds. They used jazz, blues, psychedelic sounds, fun house, ethereal & just kicking ass rock songs. They have so many huge songs, have been used in so many movies & tv shows, they're truly iconic.
Yeah, I'm glad you had the lyrics pulled up too! For forty years I've been singing "passionate lady. give up your vows" and today I find out it's "ashen" lady?! 😆 ASHEN lady? I like my lyric better. It makes more sense. Maybe I'll stick with it. hahaha
Great call Lori, this track was the basis of so many bands careers in the early '90s, everyone "borrowed" it, e.g. The Charlatans. It's the touchstone for most of the "dancey baggy" music from that era and some of the musicians, to their credit, have admitted it.
Not their best song, but easily my favourite. The piano, the guitar, the HARMONICA. Very honky tonk blues. Great energy from Jim.... a drinking song for the ages.
Another great reaction Shon, always fun to watch man but listen if you love the harmonica you HAVE to check out Whammer Jammer by the J. Geils band-killer harmonica!
John Popper is the best harmonica player I've ever heard personally in my limited musical knowledge, I strongly recommend everyone to watch Blues Traveler's Shoreline 1995 live performance of "But Anyway" its one of the best live performances Ive ever seen
there arent many other bands quite as diverse in their content. they are in a league with the Beatles, Queen and maybe a couple others I cant recall now.
Your reaction to his scat was hilarious. 😂 Reminded me of Eddie Murphy, "what's James talkin about?" At the end, Jim says "yeah right". I thought that myself, after he said all that! 😉 Peace
Awesome reaction 💙 say what...Jim talkin' in tongues there? 😂 One of my favorite albums, live, and heavy with his poetry is American Prayer..."Out here in the perimeter there are no stars, out here we is stoned immaculate"😮😂... 💙
Just for fun, I searched the lyrics, it is Hilarious to see the various interpretations of the 'gobbledegook' portion of the song... not even gonna say what I THOUGHT I heard when I was young. lol.
Yep see the live show, the one where the police came and drag him off the stage. They arrested him for public indecency I think or some similar type bullshit.
Imagine being a teenager at a house party…with this playing…trust me…my youth was epic. A+ reaction

I don’t have to imagine, now pass the bong and turn it up.
We did also. The record player was suspended from the ceiling with fishing line so the records wouldn't skip from the dancing..so much fun back then.
L.A. Woman is another great Doors tune!
Agreed! Some people write it off but I think it’s immaculate!
Ladies and gentlemen from Los Angeles, California The Doors! It’s the show opener Sean you gotta hear it. You got to hear that.!
Ole Jim was 27 and all about having a good time.
Best driving song of all time

Jim was such a strange and talented dude. He was a true poet.
