Jim Morrison was buried at the super famous cemetery in Paris, Père Lachaise Cemetery. You cannot believe all of the crazy famous people buried there. Will never forget going there one grey, frigid day a few days before Christmas. Cobblestone streets in this very large cemetery. The lead singer, Jim Morrison, is legend. The Doors burst on the music scene in 1967 with their great song, "Light My Fire." They, with bands like Cream; Buffalo Springfield; Crosby, Stills, and Nash, and more, really changed the music of the late Sixties
The piano guy is the legendary Ray Manzarek. May he rest in eternal peace. You want to hear some real legendary Manzarek stuff listen to Riders on the Storm. That song is probably in the top 5 greatest songs ever recorded.
100% Agree about Riders on the Storm. I fell in love with it at first listen (on vacation at the lake resort's tavern when I was 13, discovered root beer that same day, lol.)
When the music’s over, LA woman, the end, people are strange, love me two times, light my fire. So many great songs. He was a musical genius! If you get the chance find a concert from back then of them. He did a lot of spontaneous poetry. Absolute genius!

Robert G, those of us that grew up with The Doors know that Robby was one of the finest guitarists of the time. Just look at all of the different styles of their songs and know he mastered them all.
Spanish Caravan... Fucking magic. I always dug The Doors. But it wasn't until I was about 26 that REEEEAAALLY was able to appreciate them. Like being a child and being fed food. Then as an adult being able to properly enjoy the flavors on your palette. Pure nourishment! They really were the doors to something new and unknown back then. Still holds true today!
The doors is one of those bands that doesn't stick to one genre. When you explore the doors you're going into different categories of experimental and fascinating music. No song sounds the same.
Being a child of the 50s and 60s, born in 1951, I love that you guys are discovering and digging the music from the Golden Era of Rock and Roll, blues, R&B, etc. It was a period of incredible creativity in music. Out back of the road house were one room "bungaloes" where ladies of the evening plied their trade.

Jim Morrison, like Janis, is a member of the 27 club. Tortured souls make incredible music. If only we could help them conquer their demons and stay a while.
Fav band. So unique. At time when bands were singing about peace flowers and love this band was singing chaos, death, revolution and spiritual introspection. Not to mention they are phenomenal musicians with an off the charts singer with a poetic soul. Seriously Astounding.
Amazing that younger folks have never heard of Jim Morrison. But then I’m from that era, so I guess it makes sense. Just so happy to see younger generations finding this fantastic talent/music. They did a gig on The Ed Sullivan Show in which they were told to change a lyric on a live broadcast. They didn’t - it was historical. Y’all oughta check it out. There are plenty of videos of it out there. I remember watching it at the time. Jim broke the rules as always and it was the best!
Singer-jim morrison Keyboard-ray manzarek Guitar-roby krieger Drums-john densmore Love the doors. Check out “the crystal ship”,”riders on the storm”,”the end” and all the rest of their songs
They did all of this with only three instruments (keyboard, guitar, and drums) plus the harmonica and, of course, Jim’s voice. This is part of what makes the band so amazing-that they could produce such a rich sound with three instruments. Basically, every song they recorded was genius.
Ray Manzarek on keyboards is the underrated heart of this band. The Doors have no bass guitar player at all. As i understand it, when they had once thought to add a bass player early on, Ray Manzarek experimented instead with a "bass keyboard" and from that time on, they never considered having a electric bass player and all the rhythm normally kept with the bass and drums, are instead utilizing the bass keyboard and drums as rhythm section. And all the while, Ray is playing the normal "lead" keyboard music also. I have never heard of another band doing such a thing.
Ray Neapolitan was their regular bass player during the Morrison Hotel sessions, but the day the base lines for Roadhouse Blues were recorded Ray was stuck in traffic, and Lonnie Mack just happen to have been in the studio as he was working for Electra A&R at the time - Yea, I'm a Doors freak, read the book No One Here Gets Out Alive - and an aside : Oliver Stones movie was a shit box of lies and garbage, though Val Kilmer was excellent,.. Oliver Stone is a fucking hack, Ray Manzarek not only hated Stone for the what he did to their story and to Jim's memory, he refused to even speak about the movie later and would literally get up and leave an interview if Stones Movie was brought up
@@eximusic Actually, they used a studio bassist on every album they recorded, Ray used the Fender Rhoades Bass piano to carry the bass duties when they were on stage
Side note, Formation: the Doors were originally Rick & the Ravens, with Ray, Rick, and Jim Manzarek, along with John Densmore on Drums and Patty Sullivan on Bass, When Ray's brothers left the band Ray recruited Morrison to sing and they brought in Robbie Krieger on guitar, they auditioned several bass players that none of them liked, so Ray decided to use the Fender Rhodes to handle bass work and they went without a bass player. they were planning to recuit a bass player eventually, but then got signed to elektra and they just said "fuck it" and went on without one - I know thats more information than you'd ever need, but I'm a self made library of useless Doors information :)
Jim Morrison lead sing is a freaking genius. And his mellow crooning voice and awesome lyrics made him known as the lizard king. they also recorded most of their music in one take.
Love you guys! I'm much older than you guys and love my music. I love your enthusiasim. I always wish i could be with you when your playing your songs. You often have questions that i could answer and it's so frustrating!! I could turn you on to some great music and give you info on bands, ect. THANK YOU so much! Rock on children!!!
Funny story: I was a young Marine in Okinawa Japan, and went into a bar because I heard live music, It was a Japanese band and they played covers of well known American songs(they did Piece of My Heart and the tiny Japanese girl sounded just like Janis Joplin!!). Anyway, they played Roadhouse Blues, and because they were native Japanese, they couldn;t pronounce some of our consanant sounds. So they sang "Wet it Whoa, baby, Whoa!!Arr night wong!"
GREAT REACTION the Doors are the thinking person’s band. The music is epic and Jim is an Icon. Very deep thinker, poet, directorwriter etc. he had a zest for life and wanted to push the limits consciousness and creativity - You r gonna love this journey! Very jealous hearing for first time.

How about 'You Need Meat'? Now, there is some dirty sleazy blues from them!
JIM IS AN ADONNIS! SOOO PERFECT- his facial features!!! Kim
By far my favorite Doors song, not pretentious, not dramatically over-intellectualized but pure bluesy rock and roll. Total cool. 😎
Personnel:
Jim Morrison: Vocals
Ray Manzarek: Keyboards
Robby Krieger: Guitar
John Densmore: Drums
Bass: Lonnie Mack
Harmonica: G. Puglese (AKA John Sebastian of "The Lovin' Spoonful")
Jim Morrison, like Janis, is a member of the 27 club. Tortured souls make incredible music. If only we could help them conquer their demons and stay a while.
along with Jimi Hendrix and Amy Winehouse
And Kurt Cobain.
The difference is Jim wouldn't have been 300 pounds by 1980 had he lived, I'd bet the farm Janis would have been at least 300....lol
yes Jim , JImi and Janis are known as the iconic 3
Brian Jones
Fav band. So unique. At time when bands were singing about peace flowers and love this band was singing chaos, death, revolution and spiritual introspection. Not to mention they are phenomenal musicians with an off the charts singer with a poetic soul. Seriously Astounding.
Discovered them in high school in the 80s changed my perception of everything.
May I suggest "Peace Frog" by The Doors!! No one ever reacts to this one and it is so funky and trippy!! Right up your alley, Amber!!!
Blues ROCK is rockin'
The teenagers in my hood have rediscovered The Doors and it's so adorable!
I remember when my son s discovered The Doors and Jimi Hendrix. It was cute.
I'm so happy you did this one and excited you enjoyed it.
Love this reaction. That’s Jim Morrison for you man. The doors are legendary group !!!
Peace Frog is a great Doors song. Kind of a deep cut, but a real banger.
A poet, blues pianist, flamenco guitars and jazz drummer . DOORS ARE LEGENDARY.
LA Woman is literally one of the best rock songs ever written. From the music score to the lyrics and imagery it truly is a magical piece
The Doors are: Jim Morrison - Vocals, Ray Manzarek - Keys, Robbie Kreiger - Guitar, John Densmore - Drums
Singer-jim morrison
Keyboard-ray manzarek
Guitar-roby krieger
Drums-john densmore
Love the doors. Check out “the crystal ship”,”riders on the storm”,”the end” and all the rest of their songs
What a band!
The singer is Jim Morrison. Wrote most of their songs. Soul of a poet. Died in 1968 I think, in Paris. Gone way too soon.
Imagine discovering the Doors for the first time!
They did all of this with only three instruments (keyboard, guitar, and drums) plus the harmonica and, of course, Jim’s voice. This is part of what makes the band so amazing-that they could produce such a rich sound with three instruments. Basically, every song they recorded was genius.
and a Bass
@@carltroia6235 no bass... the keyboard plays the bass part
@@alfredodrago4167: a few songs have a guest player on an actual bass. But you’re right, for the most part, the keyboard actually covers the bass.
@@alfredodrago4167 they used bass guitars in the studio
@alfredodrago4167 there was a bass guitar on the studio recordings.
Oliver Stone is a fucking hack, Ray Manzarek not only hated Stone for the what he did to their story and to Jim's memory, he refused to even speak about the movie later and would literally get up and leave an interview if Stones Movie was brought up
I would like for you to do a reaction video to the changeling from there last album LA woman
This was the album they had a bass player on
@@eximusic Actually, they used a studio bassist on every album they recorded, Ray used the Fender Rhoades Bass piano to carry the bass duties when they were on stage
“Riders on the Storm” is an ICONIC track from the Doors that I know you guys would also love. Just ask Jamel (aka Jamal)!
Jim Morrison was a poet he had sever stage fright he would perform with his back to the crowd he is the lizard king
'Back of the roadhouse they got some bungalows'-- bungalows are little cottages... :)
I saw the doors in 1967. My all time favorite group. The bare chested poster of Jim hung on my wall at age 14 and still hangs on my wall at age 71
Riders on the Storm really brings out Jim Morrison’s voice and the Doors musicality!! 🏴☠️🏴☠️🏴☠️🏴☠️🏴☠️
Their best song. So many great ones but Riders on the storm is perfect. As good as any song by any artist.
Jim's voice res·o·nates; not echos, it fulls the room. No one sings like Jim Morrison, and his writing is beyond awesome.
One of my faves. Thanx guys, I really do appreciate the positive vibes you send out.
“This is the end” is one of my favorite Doors songs. Must listen…
This is a master piece, doors are so underrated!! This is a perfect song!!
When Jim gets so into his bluesyness he makes up his own language UH!!!!! got to roll roll roll ya got to thrill my soul
"Peace Frog" really nails The Doors musical vibe.
Was hanging around Venice, Ca. at the time. Was grateful for the shout out despite it's message. Peace
Yeah, that’s what I’m talking about guys! RIP Jim and Ray. Can not go wrong with the Doors, I mean come on, they had the Lizard King!! Thx Squad once again, you guys rock!!¡
crap Ray died, i guess before i was really that into the band but still feel like i missd that fact
"Do it Robbie , do it".
One of the greatest ever bands with probably a top five vocalist imho. Just stonking music. LA Woman, Moonlight Drive, Texas and the Big Beat, Riders On the Storm, Come and Light My Fire and The End will blow you away.
Jim Morrison was a deep, yet troubled poet. Unfortunately, he lost the battle with his demons, but not before sharing some amazing music with the world. RIP Mr. Mojo Risin (an anagram by which he called himself).
A poet who rhymed "fire" with "fire"... But seriously, an amazing talent and a huge influence on so many great artists who came after.
"Light My Fire" and "Break on Through" were their other major radio hits.
I'm just watching some of your old videos & as a new subscriber , I really appreciate you for highlighting such an iconic band 👍 thanks so much for sharing this ✌️
This is epic Doors rocking out and me too at 72 years old. Peace out you too. Its far out times in the late 60s you both would of loved it.
