Yup. As a teen b drummer in the 70's me and my band played this. My younger brother sang lead and played guitar and hit all the links. My bass player was also my best friend from band in HS. WE played high schools and other venues.
While I like your take on the song you missed that last verse when Ozzie, the singer talks about the judgement of God in the lyrics as " Satin's laughing spreads his wings" because Satin knows that God judges world leaders much harsher than regular people so in the end the song shows justice in the spiritual world. Written in 1970 this is one of if not the best anti war sings ever written.

My favorite band since I was 14 years old. Now 72 and still love them. In this day and age with the various music genres out there I sincerely thank you for reacting to this classic. Black Sabbath to many is the godfathers to heavy metal. This band Iommi, Osbourne, Ward, and Butler are all looked up to by just about every band of the past 50+ years. Thank you again for the reaction!!
A timely song no matter what era we find ourselves in. We all know entirely too much about war. War has no place in our world. Great reaction and I truly feel for both of you. Thank you.
Stay safe! This song is as important today as it was back then ... The "War Machine" is strong out there. We need people to listen and learn ... small steps help. I am a Veteran and while I was prepared to go to war ... I never wanted to. I know you two react to Ren ... in his tribute "Eden" he had three lines that struck me How many soldiers have been forced to fight in meaningless wars? How many humans have killed for ideals they don't believe in or understand? How many people have died to the greed of another man? Much Love ❤!
I would agree in regards to the live performances, but for those hearing this song for the first time, I think this is the best place to start. As it enhances the song as it brings the lyrics front and center, when you have kick-ass live performances, sometimes that may get lost in the musicianship(I normally can't focus on anything past Bill Ward killing those drums). LOL
I feel privileged that you two shared this reaction with us. I have thought of you both a few times when I turn on the radio or tv and hear about more war and more suffering of the many at the hands of the few. I love my homeland but at the same time I know we are often part of the problem and not the solution and for that I'm ashamed. I don't know what to say, the pain in your eyes levees me speechless. Stay safe.
Just as information for "younger folks" I would say, that most people, who grew up listening to this music was indeed LISTENING to it, since music videos rarely existed. This kind of music was rarely on TV anyway!. We all "created" each our own images in our brains listening to this!? I do not recall having ever seen a video of this! I was 15 in 1970 btw!
So good to see the two of you again. Hope that you are keeping one another calm and collected. ❤ Positive thoughts for remedy to the mess. Ty for reaction!
Black Sabbath are considered the 1st heavy metal band. They sound scary and dark but the lyrics are usually positive, yet a warning. Next maybe listen to "Children of the grave".
A lot of people don't like this video because it's not original to the music I have no problem with it. I think it was well done and brings up the dark themes that war brings You two are lovely people
A lot of songs came out in the late '60's and early '70's. A really good one came out by Pink Floyd called 'Us and Them' if you'd like to check it out. Great reaction!
I love that you were touched by the lyrical & musical content of the song. So many younger people doing reactions seem confused by the longer & more complicated musical compositions of Rock & Metal, but the music, like a symphonic piece, tells the story every bit as much as the words (as in an opera, oratorio or Broadway musical). This is my favorite band & I saw them many times and Ozzy solo many times & they always played this song. They have many "classic" tunes, but this one still brings tears to my eyes & is the most fulfilling from their catalogue for me to play as a musician. This is my favorite Sabbath song and so easy to play on guitar.
