  • The Blue Ridge Mine was started in 1930 and ran until 1940. The shaft was 600’ long and 120’ underground, and they mined cinnabar for the mercury content. But more interesting was the Four Horsemen Hotel that was located on site. There are many mines in the area and the hotel was the general store, as well as brothel for the area. It is rumored that the hotel is haunted and many people have reported very strange happenings in the building.
Many of the mines in the area still have very in the area still have very intact equipment and facilities.

I love these types of scenic videos. The recovery stuff is great, because I am a SAR volunteer up in Washington and I learn a lot from you on driving in the Cascade Snow. I think I have seen all of the RUclips videos you have done, plus I have bought some clothing merchandise. I never had Yankum ropes or soft shackles before, now I swear by them. The videos on the Blue Ridge mine, the Meeks Cutoff, Wagon Train trails, and even the wheat harvesting, etc. are great educational material. Usually, I will get on the internet later to learn more about the history of those locations. The other RUclips off road recovery shows are great, but yours are also extremely educational and entertaining. I am impressed on how safe you operate, no heroics, no stupid risks. I am also one of the viewers that don't mind the sound of tracks. I wish I had tracks on my Jeep and F150. I have driven with tracks on a Polaris Razor. Keep up the great job. PS: That was a really nice thing you did at Sand Hollow with the Judge's cash and the small boy.

Casey, I watched this yesterday. Missed the 360 camera and I never complained about the sound, ever. Glad you were able to back out of the hole.
Casey when you told about your bag, way back when. I told you that my wife had surgery to reconnect her and loose the bag. Well, she died December 17th. She went down hill after the surgery to reconnect her back up. When the doctor said they could reconnect her she said yes because she wanted to be able to have her grandchildren sit on her lap. She got to hold her last grandson about three times before she died. He just turned one in March. I never knew I could miss someone so much. I have lost both parents, a younger sister, and an old brother and they were nothing. I hear her at night, think I should call her in the hospital or care center and say oh no she is gone. Treasure your wife and your daughter and spend the most time you can with them. You never know how long you will have them or they will have you. I am getting tears just telling you about this.
The real dumb thing is, we got divorced after 30 years, didn't see or talk to each other for eleven years and then I was in a roll over accident that nearly killed me. I had remarried and wasn't happy at all. Well she contacted my best friend and asked if he could get her in to see me. Of course he made it happen but I didn't remember her being there. I thought I had a dream about her which wasn't uncommon. After I got out of the hospital and decided I was going to move to Arizona for the warmer weather, leave Colorado. I filed for divorce from my then current wife because she didn't do anything to take care of me when I got out of the hospital.
Our son told my ex-wife I was moving to Arizona alone so she called me and asked if we could talk.. She asked to move to Arizona with me and I told her I had to think about it. My son told her she would be going with me before I even said she could go. When I called to tell her it was okay, she said that our son had told her and she thought he had talked to me and was already planning the move. That was in 2016 and I planned on spending the rest of my life with her. She was supposed to out live me. We remarried in 2017. Sorry, I know don't know me but after all this. Don't let them tell you they can't reconnect you. I know you have said you will have the bag forever , that is what they told my wife to begin with.

The first time I ran across them (on the 4210 road a few tenths of a mile east of the old hotel), they were standing in the road, weren't very interested in getting out of the road, and didn't really care if I drove slowly between and around them to get on down the road...

The tracked jeep shines in this one !!! For real. Any non tracked truck would have been in big trouble right there. !!that was cool to see Casey.

I would love to see some summer time exploration videos of cool places like that! I think it could be really interesting if you could involve a local historian to fill in some details. Maybe a whole family adventure/local history type of thing.
