@@notsevenfeettall It went downhill when Dover Corporation bought Warn Industries in 2017. As soon as it was a publicly traded company running the show it became about profits and shareholders and nothing to do about quality assurance -- this is what happens in every industry (hardware through electronics) when a great company is bought by a publicly traded one.
Commenting on this acquisition, Dover's Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Thomas L. Reece said: "This transaction is consistent with our long term strategy of acquiring market leaders with a history of outstanding financial performance. Warn's strong brand name, intellectual property and broad product offering combine to create an outstanding company and an exciting addition to Dover. The strength of Warn's management team was also a critical factor in our decision. Under their leadership, we expect Warn to continue to generate significant growth and profitability for the benefit of Dover's shareholders."
Profitability for the benefit of the shareholders means the customers invariably take it up the ass without so much as a polite introduction. Never mind wining and dining.

8409.09 miles of fiber in a 30 (37ft) Yankum rope (of whichever diameter rope you gave the numbers for). The Earth is 24,859.734 Miles at the Poles or 24,901.461 at the Equator. So that rope broken down to single fibers, end to end, it would take 2.956 (3 rounding up) ropes to make it around the Earth at the Equator.
Was great to see the Yankum factory and Awesome to see the truck make the trip.

Quality of materials and quality control. Better materials gives more longevity. I always say, tools don't fail while they are in the tool box, they fail while you're using them and need them. Do you want a tool that will fail while you're using it? Imagine being stuck someplace and your rope fails because it was cheap. Now you're stuck with a cheap broken rope.

To think that double braided nylon ropes were created under a patent back in 1959 by Samson Rope Company. Have used those type of ropes to tie up military or I should say government vessels, 600 ft long with 12 ft eye each end.10 " in diameter 30 lbs per foot as mooring lines as a merchant sailor. Been splicing eyes in the rope used on my boats since age 16. Have fids for everything from 1/4 in to 1 in and the splicing manuals. Was nice to see the inside of the factory.

Ben is 100% correct about the Yankum Rope factory. Too many factories have automated everything. Folks loose their job for an inferior product being made at the same or higher price. A factory I worked at did this, laying off me and many more hard working people. They lasted 3 years because the product was greatly inferior-machines can't see a problem with the product. Thank you Yankum for allowing Casey a tour, I really enjoyed seeing how they are made. Mind boggling! The shop is so clean! And you actually have heaters that warm! Wish we could go to the Wrecker games, my husband can't get off due to staff shortage but we'll certainly enjoy all of the videos that everyone will post afterwards. It's been used since ancient times to twist the fibers together and then the fibers can go on to a spinning wheel; spun into a skein and then used to weave or braid the fiber into a product. For cloth a loom is used & for a tightly braided rope the machinery you showed us at Yankum Rope.

I've seen one of their HUGE ropes on the Millennial Farmer channel, and seen it used to unstick BIG tractors and farm implements from muddy quagmires. I have to say though, that I don't think I have seen Zach make use of the rope's dynamic feature, and I have even asked why in the comments. He says that he knows that's how the ropes work best, but if he pulled that hard, he'd tear whatever he was attached to right off.

Awesome video Casey. The tour of Yankum ropes was much appreciated. It's nice to see stuff being made here in the USA with machinery and people. I worked in a lighting factory for 29 years. I would have been there longer if they hadn't closed. We made the light bulbs for street lamps, stadiums, fishing boats, and more. Quite a few jobs done by people were converted to being done by robots over the years.

Great video once again, Casey. I really have no practical need for a recovery rope because I don't do any wheeling in my 4Runner (I'm old and poor and can't afford to fix broken things), but if I ever buy a kinetic rope, it'll for sure be a Yankum. I'm a firm believer in buying good tools, and Allen makes the best in the business.

It was great for Allen to show you/us how the ropes are actually made and what goes into the making of each rope and how much manual labour is still entailed in the making of the rops which is great for manufacturing and the families attached.. and as Ben stated, more companies not only in USA are too quick to go automated without even consideration of the impact on families and others that do the work to make any items these days... good on Allen for keeping families employed.. I hope you all have a blast at the Off Road Wrecker Games which are on now.. .today being march 9th here in Melbourne Australia.. I look forward to seeing many channels videos of what goes on and also some of the behind the scenes stuff which is always great to see..(Hint Hint)....

I too thought that Warn Winches were the best and then I used the Harbor Freight Winches and noticed that so was everyone else, I’ve never had one issue with them and it sits on my trailer with a battery and one of there solar panel with a charger on it and that assembly has NEVER failed me once in the five years I’ve been using it!

Thanks Casey. Alan is such a big part of the family of channels I watch: Matt’s, Fab Rats, and you. And I have heard it said by all of you made in Idaho and others have stopped by the shop. But seeing the full operation like this is great. What a great guy Alan is. I would like to see the real economic impact he has on that town. Great stuff. Be safe

Thanks Alan and Casey for sharing how these ropes are made. When I purchased mine, mi esposa (my wife) was a little miffed at the cost. I will show her this so she can understand the cost. The ropes are worth it when out on the trail, for sure.

Alan is a class act. I have one of his ropes and some soft shackles on my "to buy soon" list. I think I'll drive over to Burley and buy in person, just to say Hi. I'm always ready to support an Idaho business.
