You're right. I didn't believe it
Actually I always get asked to play songs by Frank Zappa...
Ohk
Is it wonderwall?
"Play these songs for anyone and you're gonna have a good time"
"Alright, we're gonna start with Johnny Cash - Hurt"
I really hope you ain’t saying that in a bad way cause Johnny cash is a legend

this is the best one 😂😂
Hahahahahahhahahahhahahahahhahahhaahhahahhahaa
I love that to to musch
Sooo bad 😂
One of the funniest comments I have seen in a long time. Good job!
Nutshell by Alice in Chains is probably my biggest go to: very pretty progression, good use of dynamics in picking patterns, all around great jam.
That's a good one. I like to play "Dont Follow" too.
@@travismiles5885 same dude that’s one of my favourite songs by Alice in Chains

a man of class right here, nutshell is absolutely beautiful
Second song I learned to sing and play with. It's a great one I bust out all the time but very melancholy too. It's quite a sad tune.
For me is acoustic version of Layla, it's always my favorite, the way it matches the lyrics burns my heart
Learning that epic solo note for note made ma a much better guitarist. I love that man's flow.
“To have a good time”

Hurt - Johnny Cash (1:38)
Wagon Wheel - Old Crow Medicine Show (3:40)
Old Town Road - Lil Nas X & Billy Ray Cyrus (4:45)
Wonder Wall - Oasis (6:48)
Everlong - Foo Fighters (8:47)

Hurt isn't a Johnny Cash song. He covered it. It's a nine inch nails song

Just started playing again after about 17yrs hiatus. This video and many other of yours has been very helpful!👍🏾
“Dust in the Wind” by Kansas has my favorite acoustic finger style part to play. Definitely not easy, but I had no regrets learning it as a teenager. 👍 Also the intro to “Black Bird” by the Beatles is one I enjoy.
Blackbird is my go to when people ask me to play something, it’s just a beautiful song
@@corbinchristian7915 yes, same here! It’s currently my favorite acoustic guitar song to play. Paul McCartney is a genius!
Yep, Blackbird is a real crowd pleaser. Played it once in the guitar store and a lady clapped. :P
Travis style picking. I remember it well
I remember my high school had a "beginner" guitar class but I joined anyway despite playing for almost 10 years at that point, plus it meant I didn't have to take calculus lmao
Anyway, later on in the semester, we learned Dust in the Wind, but it was just the chords and a super easy 1 finger melody, the notes for the vocals if I remember right. But the teacher knew I played guitar for a lot of my life and handed me the fingerstyle part and all I could do was go "YESSSS" because I seriously thought I was going to have to play straight up chords and 1 finger melodies for 2 weeks
Good job Tyler!!
Tomo! I'm such a huge fan of yours! Good to see you here ☺️
Make me your padawan pls
Hey tomo
Two Nine Inch Nails songs on the list. Nice.

I just love playing Neil Young's Needle and the Damage Done. I was just starting to play when I heard that song and remember being very proud after learning to play it.
>"you're gonna have a great time playing these"
>Starts on world's most infamously depressing song
Awesome song.
I think "Everybody Hurts" takes that prize.
It's a song about heroin addiction, what's depressing about that?
I really like Wish you were here, It's so beautiful yet so simple when I nailed that down in 15 minutes after learning it, the feeling that I at that moment was so great

Who knew an industrial rock band would write two country hits
Came here to say the same thing ha
I was about to add this if none would of. Trent Reznor has a genius mind.
That explains why they're shit then!... 😂🙄🤦🏻👌🏻
One of the songs I learned for picking was "Good Riddance" from Green Day, it has a wonderfull Picking Pattern and sets a good standard for other songs!
Landslide by Fleetwood Mac. The Travis picking pattern and the chord transitions are staples in any finger style guitar and it’s a song that is instantly recognizable and sounds great on any guitar.
My favourite acoustic song is "The Needle & the Damage Done" by Neil Young.
It’s so fun to play! It’s definitely one of my favorites to play without a doubt
Same man
Everlong was the first drop D song I ever learned, and was like the third song I ever learned to begin with. With the first being Stranger things have happened. I'm a Die Hard Foo Fighters fan
Hell yeah! Everlong was my first song I learned. Such a great band
I absolutely love Stranger things have happened. Its also a great song to loop if you have a pedal and do the solo or chords over the main riff.
Lol that is bizarre. The first song I learned was Times Like These. The 2nd song I ever learned was Everlong. The 4th song I ever learned was Stranger Things Have Happened. ESPG holds a special place in my heart, I fucking love that album.
Wish You Were Here was song #3
1st song I ever learned....Folsom Prison Blues. 2nd....Walk Away (James Gang). Yea I'm old. My Foo Fighter go to songs are Times Like These and Next Year....as heard on the live Skin and Bones album. Everlong is my favorite Foo song....but I can't play it. :-(
Lol, just charted it today…..one of my sons faves.
I’ve watched many of your videos. And this one for instructional purposes is my favorite because for the gals and guys just beginning, you have a welcoming and understanding approach. The future is great.
Well done! Enjoyed the whole video. I haven’t learned a single song in my 3.5 years “playing” guitar but I want to learn ALL of the parts to all songs presented but Hurt. Thank you!
One of my favorite songs played on the acoustic guitar(specifically a 12 string) is '39 by Queen(written by Brian May). Such a beautiful, melancholy song about Einstein's theory of time dilation.😌 Funny that 39 years after the song's release, Christopher Nolan makes a movie with the same exact plot as the lyrics in the song.😁
I did'nt even had to read the tittle, because when I saw the capo on the second fret on his guitar I already knew what the video was about Lol
Didn't we all
Yeah we all did if u don’t u don’t know what a meme is
You already got my 2 Favs covered, with "Hurt" and "Everlong". I'm happy seeing you including them.
I just love the way Long Train running sounds while played on acoustic
1:40 *plays first chord of Hurt, completely misses a whole beat*
"it really forces you to work on your internal metronome!" well you got that right lol

The intro to crazy on you by heart - easily top tier 👌
One that I would add to this list is "More than Words" by Extreme. Not only is Nuno one of my all-time favorite guitarists, but it's such a recognizable and well-loved song. The chord progression isn't all that unusual or tough, but the coordination towards doing the syncopated percussion is rather iconic.
I think Yesterday by the Beatles should’ve been on here, yes it is actually old but great acoustic and then there’s Dust in the wind and for a not so known song Take a Look Deep Inside of You by Eric Gales
I like Dust in the wind by Kansas, its a really good finger picking exercise.
Pearl Jam- Just breathe
Eddie Vedder- Guaranteed
They used the same pattern. Check it out
@@aung1406 True. I didn't realize it until now. Thanks.
@@aung1406 Speaking of Pearl Jam, don't you think "I Am Mine" would be a great song to play on the acoustic guitar? ☺️
Thats because dust in the wind was an exercise before it was made a song. Look it up
Awesome riffs. I love Days of the New - Shelf in the Room.
Sounds amazing, great finger picking exercise and playing it makes me look better than I actually am!!!
One of my favorite riffs
Great Stuff!!! That old town road made me think of Everlast with the E major!!! Thanks for doing these!
Blackbird is an awesome way to teach double stops. Also, Hurt is my favorite way to show drop D by picking open D on the third chord, and my favorite way to throw in the Devil Tritone a la Reznor, putting in c# on the b on the first chord. Love Nurt!
Thanks for this video and intro riffs, the easy to impossible video. These came out as I was starting to get interested in fingerstyle acoustic so thank you! One of my favorite acoustic intros is Over the Hills and Far Away. And one more acoustic song that I really like is the Animal Crossing: City Folk Intro. Keep rockin my man!
The intro to "Chasing Cars" by Snow Patrol is a great exercise for alternate picking.
That’s awesome my man! Thank you for the tutorials as well!
The general by dispatch is one of my fav acoustic songs to play!
I love playing Drive by Incubus on acoustic guitar, it just sounds amazing ❤️
Spanish Fly by the late great EVH takes the cake for me. Never thought about nylon strings like that before
its basically Eruption Unplugged, a lot of noodling
More Than Words is always a fun one - good to learn for the picking and percussive nature.
Once again Tyler, you have delivered. Recently bought an acoustic electric (Orangewood) and just today I was thinking "I should look up how to play 'Everlong' on acoustic" haha. Perfect timing.
Incubus - Drive is always a favorite of mine to go to when I pick up my acoustic. Mike Einziger is a truly underrated guitar player IMO. Pardon Me (acoustic) is incredible, so check it out if you get the chance.
It’s a nice little intro to extended chords for the beginner.
That is a fun song!
I could never get the chord progression down, so I never fully learned it, fantastic tune tho! That little A shaped bar chord is a pain in the ass lol.
@@Timmytiger18 if you look up "incubus drive campfire" you'll find a tutorial with way easier chords and it sounds basically the exact same
Damn, i thought i was the only one
I used to do solo acoustic gigs for pay at weddings, cocktail parties, etc., and developed a pretty large repertoire of acoustic tunes. Some favorites (of mine and/or the listeners) were Here Comes the Sun and Norwegian Wood by the Beatles, More Than Words by Extreme, Scarborough Fair and Mrs. Robinson by Simon & Garfunkel, Wond’ring Aloud by Jethro Tull, Walk On The Ocean by Toad the Wet Sprocket, John Barleycorn by Traffic, Mood For A Day by Yes, Landslide by Fleetwood Mac, Sweet Baby James by James Taylor, All I Want by Joni Mitchell, Change the World by Clapton, and the Intro to Weather Report Suite by the Dead. Also, I’m With You by Avril Lavigne is a really nice song, believe it or not.
Late to the party but loved this... and 'Wish You Were Here' is always a good one, too... iconic yet easy, I was astonished to be able to play it confidently so early in my guitar journey...
Great stuff. I’ve played for decades, but been plateaued at the intermediate level. Actually, now being in my late 50s, I feel like I’ve back slid a bit. And by that I mean, my fingers don’t always go smoothly to where I want them, now, and I’ve forgotten dozens of songs. These videos are quite helpful, especially when you mention some new learning techniques. Thanks.
Same here,pal
Everlong is my favorite song period, but I actually do prefer playing that one electric with my band as opposed to solo acoustic. My favorite acoustic song to play is Name by Goo Goo Dolls. I legit bought a third acoustic guitar so I could replace the G and B strings to get the correct DAEAEE tuning, and designate that guitar for that one song. That tuning sounds so good even on my cheapo Dean acoustic, and it's really fun to play once you have it down.
That’s commitment, keeping a guitar alternately tuned for 1song…
6:44 "I think we know where this is going" -- YOUSICIAN IS THE BEST WAY TO MASTER THE GUITAR

Fantastic production. Ty for your hard work!
Your acoustic guitar sounds so much better than mine. Yours sounds like it stays in tune really well.
It has some electric guitar in a few sections, but Heaven Beside You is just amazing. All of AIC's acoustic EPs are the best.
316 is my favorite acoustic song and was the first song I learned. It really helped out my finger picking in the beginning.
"River of Deceit" by Mad Season. I always find myself playing it whenever I pick up an acoustic. Never fails.
Also "Hurt" the Nine Inch Nails version.
My favorite acoustic guitar song is " is there anybody in there?" from the wall! I play it everyday to warmup

Nice list - I agree 100%
"I said maybe." You should have said right after, "definitely maybe."

For sure!!
Everlong is such a good song
That was awesome. Keep them coming.
As always, an amazing learning experience! My addition would be “House of the Rising Sun”. My band played this as our closing number at the Aurora Bar and Lounge (and hotel). Oddly enough, our power suddenly went out after the second verse. Sadly, the audience missed the great Hammond B3 organ solo.
Yes, this used to be everybody's first song. It's still pretty cool.
I love to play Good Riddance by Green Day, it was the first one I learned to play
His studio is a PRS online store
Back for Good - Take That....
Great song to learn. Nice chords and awesome song to sing

My fav - "Big Love" by Lindsey Buckingham. Amazing thumb exercise
You and Rick Beato are my favorite !!!
Well, some awesome acoustic songs that I love to play and are great to develop some acoustic guitar skiils;
"Time of your life" - Green Day
"Sister" - Nixons
"Breaking the Girl" - RHCP
"Miss your love" - Silverchair (not acoustic but it sounds very good on acoustic guitar)
"Norwegian Wood"/Across the Universe - Beatles
"Over the Hills and Far Away/Ramble on" - Led Zeppelin
"Wish you were here" - Pink Floyd
"I Remember you" - Skid Row
I've been steadily improving on learning "Sunshower" by Chris Cornell... super fun, a bit haunting, and new chords :) keep up the amazing work and vids!!! \m/ 0.o \m/
yeah in my country we have "el sensei", it has the reputation of being the argentinian wonderwall because everybody plays it at parties
"What you give" by Tesla. That song is really fun. Simple to play, if your a fan of Tesla.
Their songs are not hard, but they tend to have some strange ways of getting through progressions. Like most the song Is G/(A?), F, E, D, and C however whenever playing the chorus you play the C chord and the the last note of that bar goes back to F and the last note of that bar is C so it feels really weird as it then just switches back to the opening phrase/main verse riff.
The timing is in 4/4, but being a Tesla song the way they manipulate the bar things feel slightly off time when learning a song. I can not explain you just gotta check em out!
Mine to add is Patience from GnR. It has a lot going in it. Another would be for the older crowd with capo on the 4th fret is No Sugar Tonight/Mother Nature Guess Who.
If you have a 12 string, Wish You We’re Here. Sound so awesome on it.
"Everyone knows these country songs!" Me sitting in my flat outside Glasgow... "nope"
Literally same
"NAW!!!"
lol I'm pretty sure that song is known internationally ;)
🤣
Exactly, I'm like who are these "everyone" he's talking about? I knew wonderwall. And that's it.
Wish you were here, Pink Floyd - is my obviously acoustic classic to learn.
Thank you for sharing this!
Tyler! nice video! I worked hard on "more than words" when it came out... Then I spent a year kind of learning Jesu... that is a killer. But when you play Hole hearted by extreme... people seem to think it's cool, even if they don't know the song. The funniest thing was... a much younger guy kind of "challenged me" into playing Sultans... and his Jaw hit the floor.. and it's such an easy song.. and I truly enjoy playing it more than hearing it.
Kryptonite by 3 doors down is a pretty good practice song.
So I have an off topic question: in Mexico we call acoustic guitars that, acoustic (but they're usually the spanish/ nylon strings ones) and say electro-acoustic specifically for the metal strings ones, but I feel like in USA the default when saying "acoustic" guitars is the metal strings.
For [Me buying one Month of GSS]: Yes, or No?
Btw: def adding those to my guitarsenal
Acoustic guitars have metal stringd, almost always. If you have the soft nylon or rubber strings, thats called a classical guitar, coming that ur from Mexico, it’s probably a classical guitar as those are used when playing spanish songs.
When Tyler said "acoustic section" of GSS he's most probably talking about steel string acoustic guitar and not nylon string classical guitar
Yeah, its the same in latín América, because of the spanish heritage i guess. In Chile, acoustic guitars are the nylon ones
Always told my friends I played acoustic and then they met my guitar and they said it was classical. It's not a huge difference
"Daughter - Youth" is a great beginner fingerstyle song to learn. Fun to play and relatively easy to learn.
nice video, calming.....year of 39. queen/brian may. my go to acoustic.
My Favorite Song on the Accoustic is definetly Patience by GnR. This Song just makes so much Fun to Play!
