What a brilliant interview. Harry is absolutely spot on in what he says about the gambling commission, they need to sit down with people like Harry to really understand how it works.
If Harry was in any other profession he would be considered a consultant in his speciality, albeit in this case, it’s gambling and the commission really need to listen to this man about how it works, what drives people and to make a balanced approaches to suit everyone.
Well done Harry, great interview and very entertaining.

Many years ago, I was working the bag for my father, a Romford bookmaker, on a Friday night open card. Harry had a dog running. It was 9/4 as I recall. Harry ran along the line calling two grand bets with each of the six bookmakers. No cash shown. The dog got beat. He calmly walked along the line admitting he didn’t have a penny on him, writing cheques for each of us. What a character. The cheque cleared btw.

I remember the good days here in Ireland early 00s, there used to be 6 bookies at my local track, the money that used to change hands was crazy.
Now there's one bookie at the track and to be fair to him he will take a bet and give you a chance, but the games gone down this end in terms of betting.

The problem with greyhound racing is the game is bent and the money flows to the insiders. The regulators do nothing.

@@tonymurray814 What l mean mate is we don’t use the tote, your not going to do an accumulator on the tote, Cheltenham is coming up all they offer you is same price SP on tote betting, in the bookies we go in guaranteed odds looking for value.I won’t have one bet with the tote at Cheltenham & I’ve been punting for 50 years. Good luck for Cheltenham mate for me it’s like Christmas.

@@deckyBWFC91 Cheers mate don’t do dogs anymore, used to back 2 flies climbing a wall & every dog & horse race, now I’m more experienced & know went to walk away win or lose my punting is much better, l could spend 1 hour maybe more on 1 race at Cheltenham or any race looking at form & now l believe I’ve got the knowledge to have a go which l will at Cheltenham, wee tip for you , once the race is finished at Cheltenham get stuck right into that form as it may help you that day or through the week & remember once Cheltenham is over, that form is the holy grail of all form for the season.

@@jamesmorton4443 been punting for 8years, mainly dogs, but did horses for a while, I ended up working for Ladbrokes and let me say you can't win unless you've got right knowledge and from experience it's not always form book... Fair play if you're winning and having fun, for me looking over the card and form of dogs is a great fun. I only bet small, and do small jackpots/place pots. Most bookies only off sp until 5mins before dog race in most cases, and I was restricted by 2 bookies for beating early prices given and "irregular betting patterns"... Never once been contacted by tote, because they don't mind if you win all time as they happy just to take a cut of the pot, I've even had to restrict customers myself, horse punters mainly... You can't win with the bookies

Not being funny but he s talking shite about greyhounds , impossible to win on and that tripe they know what will lead I've never heard anyone go on about greyhounds like this ,all the major bookmakers run the tracks they only do that because check out results most days ,the bookies win two wise words ,number one like an old mate said never back a dog unless you know it's going to win ,other thing they won't bite the hand that feeds them trainers always look after the bookies .

fcuk the tote - its bad for the small punter - why? because the computer teams wreck all value ....its called "CAW" computer assisted wagering....look it up - you can be betting a horse at 20/1 and a few seconds before the off the price gets slashed to half that price, its even worse if you are a player of horses at the top of the markets ....it happens all the time in Hong Kong and in the USA.
Also, you cant bet on what you want - you are told what you are allowed to bet and how
