I’m glad I grew up watching NH Hunt racing when Ruby, AP, and Barry were the pinnacle of the sport winning the best races on the best horses. NH Hunt racing is dead these days, get the odd race with a bit of enjoyment at the festival now and then and I’m only 27yo! but the early noughties, some of my first memories of watching racing at 6/7 years old, through to I’d say about 2019/20 is the pinnacle of national hunt racing as we know it. Many will disagree I’m sure. Ruby is a great man, just like AP and Barry, tells a great story like your riding the horses yourself! Miss those 3 a bunch!
@@johnsonkevin1 GOAT AP MCCOY MANY MANY MANY MANY MORE WINNERS THAN EVERYONE ELSE IN HISTORY STATS DONT LIE . IM FOLLOWING IT LONG ENOUGH TO KNOW AP IS THE GRWATEST EVER IN PAST PRESENT AND EVER WILL BE ALMOST 4 1/2 THOUSAND WINNERS. WON EVERUTHING END OF STORY THE GREATEST EVER AP.

He was certainly the best at jumping off horses ,and the worst ever deception was his first jump off Annie power ,at final fence on the horse whilst 20 lengths clear ,because 3 previous favs had won Cheltenham that day millions was running on to Annie ,it was documented bookies stood to lose 40 million if ,Annie power had won so hence big brown envelope headed there way ,and the amazing roars as Annie power headed for the last fence clear ,turned to equally loud gasps as he jumped off it ,to be followed by silence .
@mickharrison9004 - Yeah because jockeys like Ruby definitely think it is better to risk potential permanent injury or even death, rather than win one of the most coveted races at the Cheltenham Festival. I am feeling second hand embarrassment for you after such a ridiculous post like that! Have a bit of a think about this one and see if you can come up with a safer and more sensible way of throwing an NH race, rather than jumping off the horse at 35mph when clear at the last. Why would you even ride the horse to be in that position to do it that way, when there are 101 other better ways to do it? Oh and you have heard of Graham Lee, right?
That’s absolute nonsense. Would you risk jumping off a horse going 40mph, I don’t think so! Can clearly see she was going too fast approaching the last, she was lit up and too free. Ruby in my opinion was the best jockey, sure AP was good and one loads of titles but look at how many horses he was riding to achieve that compared to Ruby. On the big race days Ruby outclassed him and in particular at Cheltenham he was in a different league to the other jockeys
Brilliant jockey. Top of the game at the top of the game. National hunt is DEAD. Complete reform needed. 4 runner G1s with long odds on favs. It’s impossible to care about. Starts in November and doesn’t mean anything until Mid March at chelt. Where now there fields are small field matchups between Eng and IRE. And England doesnt couldn’t. England won’t get 5 on the board in 2024. Nonsense game.
