    This is my favourite game, and I honestly think the sound track might be 83% of the reason.

    I love the way you edit! Thankfully, you came up while scrolling. I'll need to find your main channel to check that out too.

    I actuly loved this game but i will say the choices dont matter as much as you might think. like things you do in 1 encounters dont really effect other ones like there's no way to stop zoe from being arrested meaning that 2nd part where you rescue her has to happen. infact all of zoe's encounters have to happen before the 3rd time you make it to the border.
    and spoiler but no matter what you do you cant save zoe in the end she will still end up coming back and dieing at the border, jarad will still change his mind and not kill the reporter in the end and the last kid will still get arrested and see the border explode. the only choice that actuly seams to matter is witch path u took that changes if the cop shoots john or not and if alex setup the bomb or trys to turn it off.
    Again i still love this game and i sometimes reply it just to reexperiance it but your choices dont really matter that much it matters more than games like cyberjunk but its still not the amount of impact i would like.

      I understand what you mean, to me the reason I say the choices actually matter, is because personally I felt connected to the story. There was weight behind the choices, I know the endings are a bit more limited, but the story shifts a bit, you pick your own path, etc as you said.
      It's like a choose your own adventure book, in the end it doesn't matter what path you take as the endings tend to be the same, but the choices you make feel like they matter, whereas other games that have tried to do this, just don't matter and often feel laughable half way through.

    as much as I'm addicted to save-scumming, there's something to be said for just rolling with the mistakes you make. When I played Dishonored for the first time, I was very VERY bad at it. I would flinch and teleport straight into the wall in front of my target instead of behind them, things like that. So many ridiculous and difficult situations came about and I would have to figure my way out of them, and when the combat music stopped I would just stand there over the mountain of bodies and go "whelp, so much for low chaos in this mission". I think reloading over and over until I got everything perfect would have been boring and I'm reminded of that any time I play a new RPG, but I invariably revert to save scumming somehow.

    I saw one streamer that hated the writing in this game to the point that they and their chat thought it was AI writers and voice actors.

    You don't have a lot of subscribers so I'll write a comment here - voice over is really good, clean audio, editing and pacing in my opinion are good too, topic is interesting. I was hoping for a longer video - something in terms of a video essay, but to be fair I subscribed and I'm looking for more content like this one

    I remember watching ya play this on stream and a few others, the game looked interesting.
    Though I didn't consider playing the game myself until after watching this, didn't realize it's so replayable and could be different each time.
    It's quite nice to see you've started giving out reviews, I remember a few times you were mentioning wanting to do a game review channel.
    Also, I've picked up quite a few games (anime as well) just from your opinion alone in the past, looking forward to more.

    I love both games, but I gotta be honest, road 96 doesn't even hold a candle to road 96, road 96 has 3 endings, 1 of which you have to actively sabotage yourself to get, while detroit has upwards of 90, and it takes upwards of 50 hours to get all the endings, and that's if you know what you're doing

    • @EljayIsHere
      @EljayIsHere  8 месяцев назад +2

      I think sheer numbers doesn't indicate if its good though, Detroit I cared but nowhere near as much as I do about the characters in Road 96.
      Detroit suffered from the fact the characters felt like characters in a story, but there was just something about the Road 96 writing where they felt so human.

    I just got this game in January (writing this in February) but I had my eye on it for a while. At first, it just seemed like a walking sim, but as I watched and played more, I realised it was more. That the things I chose and did mattered to the people I met. I remember the first moment this really hit me: I was hitchhiking with this girl, Zoe. She mentioned a kid that she had met at a trailer park and she wanted to tell them something. That was me. I was the kid at the trailer park. This game is very interesting and I’m glad more people are covering it.

    • @EljayIsHere
      @EljayIsHere  7 месяцев назад +1

      Choices mattering isn't about the final moments, it's about the feeling. The stakes, the emotion, the story. If I feel connected to the characters and genuinely feel the need and weight to make the correct choices, that's when they matter.
      Fallout has several endings, it's terrible.
      I thought that was pretty clear :)
