This amazing game ruined Modern Roguelikes for me
Faster Than Light, or FTL, is essentially a Roguelike about, "How much oxygen you can lose before crew start... sleeping" and I'm all about that, especially because 2012 there was absolutely nothing like it.
Faster Than Light is one of the great Roguelikes, well, great games ever made, but strangely, it's HEAVILY criticised as being too hard, or simply, "unfair"

FTL final boss was so tough that you have to beat it a few times

Bit late to ask this but, do you know what all the stats on the wands mean, like the difference between cast delay and recharge time, or what deg means?
Cast delay is time between each spell being cast left to right Recharge is when the wand ends it needs to recharge, shown top right Deg I’m not sure off the top of my head right now hahaha

The board game that FTL is based on / inspired by (“Battlestations!”) is also phenomenal
I KNEW IT FELT LIKE A BOARD GAME
Try out "Space Order Mine"... besides the stupid name, it's a cross between FTL, mine sweeper and inventory tetris... not super deep but good for quick runs to see what kind of build you end up with. Cheap and pretty fun.
Roguelikes: because save systems and game balance are hard.
I'd say that Roguelikes are the perfect example of game balance, they need to create something difficult enough to be replayable, to be not beatable first try, but generally also allow the player to learn and progress.
Try barotrauma or space haven. Both has similar genre.

The criminal thing about this game, is that we don't have a dedicated sequel and for a time everyone and their mum was making a clone of it. The soundtrack is based AF
so just got to the last section and I'm like why not just take out the whole level leave nothing hahaha

i am tired of low key graphics - it's not like we have riva tnt and physically can't push any polygons
I mean, I think the style fits the concept, trying to push this to be any fancier or more graphically intense would likely just make the concept feel cheap.

Don't get me wrong, the title is tongue in cheek, I adore this game. Saying nobody will or should recommend it is because of how brutally unfair, but addictive and fun it is.
I love how you introduce me to these brutal games that I would never find out about otherwise
I love that I somehow manage to do well at them while live, really setting up the false safety lmao
To clarify, the reason nobody should/will recommend Noita is the addiction it feeds, and the pain you feel every death.... hahaha it's so good I love it, so glad that second run happened live!
