Hey Eric, I'm the designer for the Kondor Blue C70 cage. Love the feedback. One thing you could try is a right angled xlr cable. That should solve the issue with it running into you body on those close shots. Mics are always tough to place, especially when using am external monitor. Best of luck with the new setup and keep up the great work!
Honestly for my setup I just use a shorter mic too. The short shotguns with phantom power don't need the battery space in the mic, and since the c70 has xlr phantom you are golden. I also got custom right angle xlr cables made that are the perfect length, so again to avoid the stress of heavy cables.
Hey Brandon, love the Blue base plate (never leaves my camera), but I couldn't get behind of the rest of the cage. would love to see an update to this sometime, but given the awkward body design of the 70 I understand if that never happens ;)
The C70 sensor is something special. Such a good camera and the colors are amazing! My good buddy Griffin Conway has a really dialed in rig if you’re looking for inspiration. 😎
The C70 is amazing. It’s my main camera for weddings and I know it will exceed in doc work especially since I shoot weddings like documentaries anyway. I use the Tilta cage and the mic is in the same spot, I’ve just learned to live with it. I’ve never tried native glass since I always use the speed booster, but my main go to is the Tamron 24-70 2.8 with IS. That lens just does it all.
I pre-ordered the R7 for the unlimited recording as a B cam to my R6. I figured a speed booster could open up a lot of options in shooting. R70 is tempting.
You won't just love Clog2 in small files, but the DGO sensor!!!! The low noise shadows are nuts, you can really shoot underexposed now if you want to expose for highlights. And bring things up if you need to. Also the ND filters can stack to 10stops if you enable the expanded feature in the menus (it's off by default).
@@EricFloberg Honestly, It's the biggest reason I went for the C300 Mark III vs the C500 and then added the C70. The c500 shadows left something to be desired (in fact you can really easily compare since you just shot 120 frames to see what the shadows look like without DGO since it's disabled). ALSO quick hack, if you want better AF performance in slow motion, you can shoot 60 fps with auto (not in the S&F mode) and still get face tracking.
thanks for this. I also just got the c70 and 15-35 (already have c200 and BMPK4) and was going to switch entirely to fx6 but....super long eta. I've run the c70 pretty hard on a couple of recent shoots and it definitely rocks. the 10bit vs 8 on the c200 should be significant. I don't entirely mind it without a cage in fact
BROOKLYN!! Way to represent! I’m also a fan of the C70. Mine isn’t rigged out, but I like your configuration. I’m looking at copping the R5C next tho. I just like its smaller form factor. Thanks for sharing your thoughts, and for capturing the Brooklyn Bridge in the background. Now I’m homesick. 🥲😆
Loved the casual one take for this whole video, mustve been so nice vs a fully produced vid! Haha. I just shot a short film on a c200 in RAW. 1 day of shooting was 350gbs, which I was expecting more. But for my next project, really looking at the c70 for the smaller form factor and smaller file sizes in mp4. Can't wait to see more stuff!
interesting. My M1 with 16gb won't edit raw in DR so I still have to edit in 1080p! Im thinking about graduating up to c70 from bmpcc6k. I underestimated the usefulness of autofocus. I do wish there were more universal cages so I didnt feel so invested camera to camera.
Omg if Canon gave us CLog2 in the R5 it definitely would have solved the main problem for a lot of us. Only solution….cinema camera 😂 congrats on the upgrade!
The auto focus is mince on whatever this was filmed with 😂 And it would have been better to stop down so we could actually see the rig without it being so out of focus.
I mean just because the r5 can do 8k doesnt mean you need to....Plus giving up full frame and this c70 is like carrying around a suitcase. These cinema cameras are going to be outdated soon.
The C70 is a very good camera for a very good boy. I love using the speed booster + 24-105 combo for run and gun, and you should love that too.
Unbeatable combo right there!
never change.
Zoom lenses are trash. Can’t believe your peddling this nonsense Jesse
Side note: The color grade on this video is absolutely amazing. Striving to achieve the same clean look.
It is totally neutral REC709. Maybe there is some contrast curve apply and a little bit of desaturation in shadows and highlights.
Thanks so much! Finally releasing some LUTs next month with how I get this look. 🤝
@@filmowaniezprofitem yes, Rec709, but definitely more than that 🤙🏼
Yea we need a breakdown on this color grade. So good!

I love how authentic and raw this video was. no music. so over editing. just eric, camera, and thoughts.
❤️❤️❤️
Ohhhhh, I’ve been thinking about making a giant in depth video about the FX3 but maybe I’ll just do a one-taker like this as an intro 🤯
Let’s go!
C70 amazing camera. But the composition and backdrop just wow ! Talk about Leading lines. Who agree?

Already watching. Thanks for the rec, homie!!

Been shooting on a C70 since the beginning of 2022, and liking it more just about every week. It's a fun camera to manually focus on, too.
I like the C70 and I like you
😘

So excited about the shadow part. I tend to under expose in general, so to have that latitude now is a game changer 🤙🏼

My favourite camera. You're gonna kill it with it.
Love mine too! been using it for over a year now. Killer workhorse.
That ending is so perfectly accurate 👌🏻
Super excited to see more of this doc! Seems like it’s going to be a fun watch!
Stoked to share more!
Would love to know the lens you filmed this video with on the r5. Great Color. I suspect a 50mm prime wide open.
That was my guess. Waiting for Eric 👀
I'd love to know too. Was thinking the same thing.
LOVE my c70. The Tilta cage with a small rig top handle is my go to and I’ve never had an issue.

"It's great. Wonderful" - Gene Yoon, Expert Gear Reviewer
hahahhaha
Great overall video! You commentary is awesome with your sense of humor keep up the good work!
"Trusting autofocus so much" as it goes out of focus 😂
Would you recommend the r5 over the Sony fx3 for documentary work and great content? I also somewhat vlog what lens you would recommend
Not sure exactly why but this was a satisfying, natural gear review that was great to watch. The “bad” location probably made it better honestly 😆
Great to hear! Thanks for watching!!
Proper move from the c200!

It’s seriously blowing my mind how much more efficient it is. Truly life changing.
Refreshing unpretentious and informative. Thank you. Greg
Eric, was there any particular reason that you didn’t go with the R5c? Was it just the lack of clog2 in the other codecs?
Great camera! Been wanting to switch to it to and you might just gave me another reason to do it!

I rented a C70 for a shoot a few months ago, and for as much as I love the R5, I've been dying to pick one up.
It’s such an amazing hybrid of the R5 and C200. Quickly became my favorite video camera.
Why the C70 over R5c? I'm personally looking between the two right now.
Awesome looking rig 😯 that’s disappointing that the R5 doesn’t do C-Log 2 unless you’re in 8k RAW 🙈
I’m here to ask questions about the deadcat.
Omg if Canon gave us CLog2 in the R5 it definitely would have solved the main problem for a lot of us. Only solution….cinema camera 😂 congrats on the upgrade!
I hope to purchase the Canon R7
Wow, was the A roll shot on RAW on the R5 or one of the other codecs-does anybody know?
R5 mp4 in Log3 🤙🏼
@@EricFloberg Love to know the lens on the R5. Beautiful composition in every way.
Beautiful camera bro
Holy sheesh I love the rig 🔥
Teach me how you color grade, my master 🙏🏼
This camera looks really difficult to rig whilst maintaining good ergonomics. Much prefer the box design of other cameras.
What lens was this shot on? That was some shallow dof
hi can i know what font that you use in this video?
what XLR cable are you using?
C70 is an awesome camera but look at this R5 image, Is like you was shooting in a high end 30k red.
what's the LUT you're using ? ( in the intro )
My own! Gonna be live for sale next month 😊🤙🏼

Niceeeee
right when he praised the autofocus it decided to give up
Wait, you found a camera you like? That’s not allowed. How dare you
😂😂😂

Welcome to the dark side. Muahahahaha
happy to be here 😏
Bad switch. Sonys on top. Shouldve got the fx6.
oh no guess my career is over now
That's what noob says
