With the new autofocus update it's a game changer for me! Also check out the top plate from tilta to mount your mic and handle. It's literally just a plate that sits on top of the camera on a hot shoe. Very convenient!
Good review - I just upgraded to the C70 after shooting with the C100 M2 for 5 years. I really miss the EVF, but now there are some decent add on EVFs and it seems more and more common that Cine cameras don't come with a EVF standard anymore. Needless to say coming from a 420 8bit- low MBPS codec the C70 is stunning. I wish it had a better build quality, but I knew all the cons before I got it and I have no regrets. I have a ton of EF glass that is working nicely with the new body and it's like having new lens with the image quality I have now. I'm a documentary filmmaker too and I know this camera will serve my needs fine.
The dad is me was thinking, "close the freakin' fridge!" the cinematographer was thinking, "that's a chill shot." Wait, pun... still dad thinking. Great video. Solid camera. I hope you dig the Kondor Blue cage updates too 🤞
Lovely video. You got me thinking about making a jump, or at least holding out for that next canon. What is that last music track? I assume Musicbed but I don't see the credit in the bio.
Dude you totally nailed this video. Well done and well said. I totally agree with you and friggen love my c70 more than the 1dc… and that’s saying a lot 😂
Me reluctantly clicking on this video because I just sold my C70... 😂 But feeling inspired and motivated just because of the way you filmed this and shared your experience haha
I watched this video almost only because I knew it was gonna have some great storytelling. I was not disappointed. =) I do some (unpaid) video work for my church, so something like the C70 is outside my league. But I enjoyed this review (film???) a lot, and your comments on gear towards the end really rang true. I was a musician long before I ever started using cameras, so I know what it’s like to encounter a piece of gear that you really connect with. While for professional work I need to make reasonable gear choices, I also want to choose pieces of gear that I enjoy. Btw, love the Field Notes!!! =)
In regards to the monitor becoming loose...assuming the monitor swivels 360 degrees, if you flipped it out, rotated it 360, then swing it back into the monitor cavity so you're looking at it on the body (instead of on the side), would that prevent the monitor from loosening?
Up the brightness or the luminance? I never touch the brightness, massively different in my experience. Do you run +2 luminance in exteriors, I find it pretty bright, but the best, but more than adequate. Agreed, handle sucks and the monitor mount is too weak. The newer deliveries seem to have a better hinge tho they never announced a change.
@@EricFloberg ahh good, yah +2 lum helps a ton, I found someone who had measured it close to maybe a 500-700 nit brightness over the 100-200 base. well worth just running at full brightness
@@EricFloberg Yo, did you ever confirm the difference between the luminance +2 setting vs using brightness. Been seeing a lot more creators still get this wrong recently and wanted to check in :). I run at +2 lum outside, brightness always at base.
@@EricFloberg Just checking in again that your found the luminace setting to increase the monitor's backlight, since brightness does not do that. Still seeing a lot of shooters miss this one.
Great feedback but you were in manual focus in the shots of you talking in the mirror right ? Otherwise the AF on the eyes doesn't work at all. Just asking myself... Love this cam, I've currently working on Xh2s (as i need it as my second photo camera) and B6Kpro (but i will probably replace it by the C70 or next model in few years)
@@EricFloberg don't forget to export your menu settings before you update! i definitely didn't forget and definitely didn't have to remap buttons and menu shortcuts
It's a shame using full frame glass on S35 removes all of the attractive character of a lens. Is there even any S35 RF glass that exists? Kinda ruined. Such amazing dynamic range wasted on a literal flat image. This is why the R5C would be the enthusiasts choice. All that annoying rigging is worth it for an image twice as big.
This video gave me vibes of Danny Gevirtz mixed with a grainydays film camera review
best compliment I've ever gotten.
mad honored to have witnessed your team + creative process while sober, drunk, and very mildly hungover :)
hehehe santori sunday for life.

A camera review with good cinematography... what a novel idea! Well done. Well done.
Good to see you here!
Thank you!!

Great chatting today, my dude! Stoked to get all that new gear :)
this video is awesome dude. its a review it doesnt have to be THIS GOOD
you deserve a subscribe
love this. love that there is strong community of filmmakers who love running also!
I have the chance ti grab a c70 for about the same as an R5c for weddings, do you think the c70 is a clearly superior choice?
It's so firking inspiring to see you tell stories and make all of your videos so cinematic. Even if it's a gear review video. ❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥
I didn’t need any help wanting this camera more than I already do, but thanks Eric!
hehehehe
The most beautiful gear review I've seen
means a lot. :)
Great review!! It’s been my fav camera to date. Cannot wait to see the doc!!🤙🏼
Loved it, thanks for the details on the C70 👏🏻

You are a genius! SUBBED!
This video is just... so good.

Keep up the great work man! Always look forward to your vids 🙌
Thanks so much for watching!!

Hands down the best camera review on the C70 I've seen. So stoked for the doc. Are you guys going to primer it in Chicago?
Thanks so much, dude! Yes, planning on Chicago, Nashville, LA, & NYC
Best gear review I’ve ever seen!😮
Thanks so much, homie
Doc and commercial footage looks sweet but the real star of the show is that wedding!!
boy you know it - coming soon!!

Oh my word - at 6:45 is that Durham, NC?!
Looks like a beast! What's a Sony equivalent to this one?
I guess the closest in capabilities and price would be the FX6
Yep, FX6 for sure. The FX3 can do a lot of this as well if it's rigged out, just no internal ND.
This was so dope, and relaxing.
Great video thanks. Whats your best or most used lens on C70?
Nice Video bro!
I love my C70 for Weddings too
i love your frames
❤️🔥😘
Where is the link to the Documentary?
It’ll be finished by summer! 🫡
So cool! So would you suggest CLOG 2 over CLOG 3 on the R5 just for overall video creation?
Which mic do you use on camera? I was disappointed because of loud RF autofocus… it’s really noise…
My mom would’ve killed me for keeping the refrigerator open for that long 😂😂😂
hehehe
very wholesome review!

Yeah, I just got a new one, and the screen already feels so much better. You're right. I think it's Luminance, not brightness.

DSLR Video Shooter thumbnail ;)
100% subconsciously did exactly one of his thumbnails hahahaha
Everything you said is correct. Also do you want to buy my c70 😜
How much you selling it for?? 👀
Go in a time machine 2 months ago and yes.
Can you use focus magnification during recording?
Didn’t know a gear review vid could make me emotional 🥹 Also… is that you singing in the outdo song??
Always my goal. :) and no, that's not me, but I really wanna make some music next year.
this video was awesome, it just earned u a sub! 🤯🤩

When you doing “how to expose for clog 2”?
dunno! I always just never blow the highlights haha
Second one gets the cheese 💛💛
Loveee itt can’t wait for this beautiful masterpiece
Stoked to share it with the world!!

Joe is the man!!
stud no doubt
Can anyone answer how the extended nd (8/10stops) looks? Is it useful or is there bad colour shift etc. Thoughts.
Hey how did you get the Rode mic to fit the c70 mic holder? I have the ntg2 and it’s the same diameter and I can’t get the clamp to securely close.
Wrapped the mic in gaff tape 😂
@@EricFloberg 🤣😂🤣
did you lay on the ground for chapter 4 before “the future” for all of us is lying in our casket??… eric are you doing okay? love you
lol yeah i'm okay no weird metaphors here

Overly dramatic. It’s just a stupid camera
