Poor old Buster .... an entirely lovely man, and a superb comedian: brave, inventive: there was no one like him. And Laurel and Hardy - they just don't make 'em like that these days, and we'll never see their like again.

Thanks for posting. Really enjoyed all of it. Found great pleasure in understanding the uncomplicated loyalty of Laurel and Hardy and the straight humanity of Keaton.

The Buster Keaton segment extremely moving. He was really, really touched when Donald O'connor, Red Skelton, his 2 boys and his wife came out. You can see in his face the hard time he had with severe alcoholism and financial breakdowns. I'm glad they were able to do this for him. His tears were heart breaking but beautiful in his happiness.

I love these guys, I hated how the interviewer kept making jokes about Ollie's weight though but Ollie - as a true gent let it slide but several times it seemed as though he felt a little hurt. These 2 were the best and are still way up there for me. RIP gentlemen, and thank you for the laughter xxx

Busters, Stan & Ollies genius will never be repeated, but their pretenders today could learn two lessons from these giants: humanity and humility. Busters appearance here though is quite sad: the cloying violins accompanying the Presenters relish in reminding him of those lean years is surreal and painful to watch, but as always that magnificent poker face gave nothing away. Throttling his sister was a gas; and nice to see his later years was blessed with such a lovely wife.

Thank you so much for this post, I remember back in 1965 watching my dad watch laurel and Hardy on the tv, I was so surprised to see my father ( always a straight faced surly person) just cracking up, I was 5 and have loved Laurel and Hardy ever since. Thank You

In the 1970s there was a Laurel & Hardy show every Sunday morning, on channel 5 from Saginaw, where the host would talk about the movie to be viewed and tell all about the dates and times of Stan & Oliver's lifes. I was in my teens and would watch this every Sunday morning with my dad and we would laugh SO hard that sometimes it would hurt. Dad has been gone for over 25 years now, but me & my brothers still reminisce about those Sunday mornings and recite some of our favourite lines from the movies when we get together. This post is wonderful and I thank the person for making this available.

I'm sitting here in bed with a trapped nerve in the base of my back/spine...this video put a smile on my face for the first time in days. Thankyou for uploading this great tribute to two of the pioneers of comedies - I used to go swimming every Friday night after school in the 70's and rush home for 6pm when they'd show double on BBC2...truly these two belong to all the ages :) Thankyou Stan & Ollie.

It always amazes me no matter when a movie is made the pain and hardship that comes with the production process. Every one is a trial to the stars and staff. Knowing this as we do makes their talent and what they gave the camera all the more amazing. Funny? Sure. Tragic? Beyond words. They did what they knew how to do. They gave every drop. Till they dropped. We love them so for it. More than memorable.

I'm guessing this program was aired in 1954, since Vivien Blaine was
working on "Guys and Dolls" which was released in 1955. It was good
they got to honor L&H's lives when they did because both Stan and
Ollie had strokes over the next 2 years and Oliver passed in 1957. I
hope wherever they are they know how much they are still missed.

Incredible. Thank you for uploading this precious footage of the comedic greats of our past. The most striking moment was how the host (Ralph Edwards) continues to rattle off events in Keaton's life, quickly and candidly going through the darker moments his career nadir, finanical problems, and divorce following up with a question, "Well, what happened to your acting roles?" (Something like that.) Keaton just says, "They stopped." Keaton looked like a deer in the headlights most of the time, managing to get through it. Fascinating.

In 1953, Laurel and Hardy appeared on a live BBC television broadcast of the show "Face the Music". Unfortunately, this show does not appear to have been preserved on kinescope, but notes from the show have been found. According to the notes, Ollie informs Stan that the television program has an audience of six million and that host Henry Hall is "going to introduce us to them". To which Stan replies "That's going to take a long time, isn't it?" I wish they could find THAT show! Please, BBC gang, look for it!

i love buster keaton . I think this wife of his was the best thing that happened to him...he was quite handsome as a young man. love his husky voice. Some time after this show he was given an award. He said' a bit too late '' I felt so sorry for him. I have the video. He wasnt at all impressed. I consider him a survivor afte all he went through...He was married to Hollywood royalty at the time , divorced, lost his two sons to her forceably and fought alcoholism, his career came to a halt..etc' But he is a hollywood giant . just watch his old movies. I have many of them on tape. lovely to watch. And such a humble, unassuming man.

Life just doesn't work that way-sometimes the best are not rewarded with riches in the material sense-but with those other ones-You know-the ones they say that really count. It's a good thing to remember when life gets you down.

It looks like this show must have been something like a nightmare for Stan, Ollie and Buster. For today`s sentiments it seems absurd to track people unwantedly before a mass audiance, gallop through what should be (or have been?) their lives almost without talking to them. The strikingly rough strangulation of Keatons sister says ist all.
