    I was the biggest Laurel and Hardy fan when I was kid, up till about age 10, 1962. I had always gotten the impression from their biographer(McCabe?) that the Bullfighters was not a good movie. WRONG!!! It was a riot, an excellent laugh out loud comedy. Thank you for posting The Bullfighters!

      Chaplin with all his attire- large boots, weird walk, creamed eyes, large cap, cut mustache, overcoat and handstick - could produce fun whereas these two did it without that all. Buster keyton also was another great without having such supporting nonsence. He was a natural stuntman too. Chaplin was more a made-up than a natural comedian.

      @DonaldPBorchersOG  21 день назад +1

      The movies Laurel and Hardy made for Fox and M-G-M are done completely in Big Studio style, which is to say, anti-Stan style. The movies were no longer shot in sequence, and Stan and Babe were given make-up treatment that made them look older than they did when they were touring Europe ten years later. Most reprehensibly, Stan, the uncredited writer-director-editor of their Roach movies, was completely shut out of the movies’ creative processes at Fox; instead, he and Babe would be given completed scripts on Friday and were told to memorize their lines by Monday.

    It is very hard to judge what’s worse in this movie, it being Hardy And Laurel performing as amateurs or even agreeing being i the pictures. Or perhaps the thick layers of time when nothing really happens. In the conquests of bad things, the screenplay goes in, and so does the filming, the sound, and basically everything.
    This film is sad to the core. It just shows someone in for the money, destroying their reputations.

      no. i don't think they were in it for the money. they had enough money. they wanted to work. they NEEDED to work. it was their life's blood., use a little obvious common sense and be compassionate for 2 brilliant comedians in their old age
